Why you all wanna change mesmer for your playstyle? They are fine as they are now.
Have you ever played WvW and PVE?
I don’t think so.
I’m not sure why ArenaNet did not go the way where the mesmer was going to have a living hex but instead the went with two illiusions one weak clone and one strong phantasm where everything was mixed with the shatter and now we are stuck with problems from having that. I’m not going to put a list of everything that does not wrok but I’ll give an idea mixing mine with other players thatI would like to thank em
and hope ArenaNet devlopers will read this.
1-change phantasms to a living hex that have duration each phantasm will cause different negative effect for a period of time as long the phantasm is attaking during this time the players hit by his attaks will get that condition again, the player will be able to dodge the phantasm attak or kill the phantasm.
2-phantasms has nothing to do with the shatter.
3-phantasms do not take slot from the 3 slots.
4- phanasms do not deal damage they are for control.
this way we will be able to use shatter and not be afraid of losing our damage dealer (pet) and will also help when we lose our clones we will still have somthing in our hands for the enemy.
While at work I was deep thinking about Mesmer problems in PVE and WvW and I think most of you agree that:
1- Shatter + Phantasms = does not work.
2- Phantasms + Foes AOE = does not work.
But why?
The answer is because Phantasms Deal Damage.
But if if we took the damage from Phantasms and give back to the Mesmer (not to be like a Warrior dealing massive damage so ppl don’t tell me go play a Warrior).
Phantasm will now have the Control let me give un example:
the phantasms from gratsword will attak anyone hit by his attak will be crippled after he has finished you will not care if he dies (it will be great to have condition on death for both illisions) or you can shatter him.
For idulest we will take the action and actuly use the pistol and not wait for magic bullit CD and make idulest apply somthing for the foes that can’t be reached ranged control.
this way after the Phantasms did thier part we will use the shatter( the way of the shatter delevring damgewill be improved) and everyone will be happy PvP+PvE+WvW players.

For solo mob (scepter/pistol) I start with iDuelist then beam + magic bulet to give time iDuelist if the mob attaks me I use block switch to staff chaos storm+ leap then the other phantasm the switch to scepter/pistol and get another iDuelist (I use the trait for bleeding on crit).

IF you guys read what I said my problem is with the shatter mechanic I’m lvl 50 Mesmer and I almost never touch the F1-F4.
the tow play styles that we have are phantasm build and clone/condition(nobody play mantra cuz it is boring and need alot of love.) both don’t beneft from the shatter cuz if we shatter we lose phanasms and clones dont trigger the on death traits.
what i’m asking is for more play styles that involve doing magic tricks.

Mesmer rework is needed.
The reason for that if you go clone way and trait for em you are playing Guild wars 1 Necromancer Minion bomber .
If you go phantasm way then you have pets who deal damage for you if they are out.
The shatter is there so we don’t feel that we are a pet class because we can shatter em.
this is the worst mechanic for Mesmer.
Mesmer should have more magic tricks punish people for making the wrong choice
I think ArenaNet can do better than this.
I think we should only have clones on our weapons when ppl attak em they get punshed for that.
and since the shatter is useless (we can get anythying the shatter offer from skills) , move the phantasms to F1-F4. so we don’t have the feeling that the only thing we are doing is summoning.
then put some good skills on our weapons like SS spiteful spirit and make it Aoe (apply Confusion on foes ).
I have some questions for you guys I need help with my mesmer.
This is for WvWvW.
1-My mesmer is dead before I have the 2nd phantasm out. I don’t have glass cannon build I’m lvl 42. I use decoy blinc dodge but my mesmer goes down fast I got killed by a necro in lich form from 2 hits how is that possible.
2-Mobility problem, I like to use the pistol as off hand so I can’t get the speed boost but i feel like a turtle comparing to others the only other way is a trait which is a joke (move faster for each illision).
3-I started using sword/pistol but in a fight against a guardian my sword skills did 0 damage to him/her.
4-How to deal with that our weapons skills need a target to be able to use them if we are chased be a gang in WvW.
