38 here played GW1 for long time.
lost interest in GW2 because the lack of challenge.
I think GW2 is Safe for now but after new MMOs hit the market there is no doubt it will lose a lot of players people want to try something new and gw2 will be something from the past.
So how to stop players from leaving:
1- Improve the game mechanics (just do one of the dragon events and you will see exactly what’s wrong it is only zerg dps/rez ) lack of combat depth is there and nobody can say it not.
2- Add more skills (I wish if someone from Arena Net will give us any info about this they never talk about this).
GW2 is becoming more like Farmville go collect your eggs(daily), milk your cow (dragon chest)…………………………………… no challenge.
Yesterday was my first time doing dragon event did 2 had no fun at all. I was not the only one laging the poor Dragon too, ppl asking Mesmers to press any F key to get red of illusions.
somthing need to be done about this.
the only good part about it is I got the chest.
My only reservation about the dailies is that I’m finding it’s very easy to become so focused on efficiently completing dailies that you stop playing the game in a natural manner. Running around with a checklist of stuff to do detracts from immersion and exploration and eventually people are going to get really sick of the daily routine, even with efforts to change the mix every day.
I don’t know what the to that is, but it is something I’m worried about and the dailies have started to detract from my personal game play in noticeable ways which has me even more worried.
The solution is very simple make open world drop all kind of loot including precursor and fractal items and we will get everything we need wihle playing the game the fun way (our way).
But Anet solution for that is do the Daily to get the items you need.(they fixed a problem but created another problem)
I was 31 years old when first started playing GW1.
I see the potential in GW2 to be a great game like GW1 and far better . but by saying nothing is wrong with it that day will never come
Eagle-3574.
You forgot this one:
Character Progression
Many ppl are complaining that GW2 have no end game and they have nothing to do after lvl 80 (for those who are fine with thier gear and don’t want to chase legendaries).
We need Character Progression and NOT the Vertical one more like the one we had in GW1 after lvl 20 and getting max gear. you have so many things to do that will improve your character.
In GW2 after lvl 80 my character has nothing to do to improve.
Finaly someone who realy understand what is wrong with GW2
+1.I don’t expect this to have any impact on your view, but I want to make a brief point…
While EasyModeX is more than entitled to his complaints and you’re more than entitled to agree with him, my fervent hope is that ArenaNet does not listen to or alter the game around them.
Changing the game to accomodate the things that bother players like you would be unwise from a developmental standpoint- counterintuitive as that might seem. I stand with the overwhelmingly content silent majority playing this game, and who will continue to do so- it makes much more sense to design based around what they want, retaining them and me, with the unfortunate tradeoff that players like you might get frustrated enough to abandon the game and move onto something else.
It sucks to have any player stop playing a game because they want it to be different, but it’s important to understand the sort of dynamics at play here.
For a game to be fun you need to use yor brain.
In GW2 I don’t need to do that, the only time I do is to dodge the red circle.
Bottom line…will GW2 have a 7 year life, like GW1? Only time will tell.
That’s my 2c anyway. Thoughts?
GW2 is no different from any other MMO.
The bottom line is that the gameplay must be fun for players to stick around. Gimmicks that “structure” the gameplay tend to erode it. Dailies, artificial ladders, “rules”, rails — these all tend to strangle the gameplay. They’re all band-aids to distract the player from the fact that the player can’t find fun gameplay.
If the actual combat is fun, if the PvE dungeons are fun (for PvE’ers), if the dynamic events are fun (again, for PvE’ers), if the WvW mechanics are fun, if sPvP is fun, then that’s all you need.
Everything else is fluff and/or the company trying to over-engineer the mechanics. Trying to inject random stuff into the game for various cross purposes.
GW2 will fail because ANet is falling into the same trap as other developers — they are adding trivial gimmicks and distractions, rather than focusing on making the core game fun / more fun.
Finaly someone who realy understand what is wrong with GW2
+1.
This is only when there is a zerg of players.
Q. do you get better loot when in group?
I was doing WvW with my guild and we where going zerg vs zerg . I wasn’t in group for 2 Hrs i only got 1 badge as soon I joined a group it was the difference between day and night. I got 5 badges in 1 minute and in less than 30 mints 2 fuul bags and I also got a rear weapon.
I was doing the same thing before I join the group.
the same thing happens in pve in Orr.
is it a bug?
or does the game have the same thing that GW1 have to prevent solo farming , if you remember in Rata sum (Farmer lf leechers). does this mean if I don’t join a group the game will treat me as a bot and hit me with DR.
I hope someone from Anet will shed light on this .
Hope this will help.
I bought the CE and was able to start playing 3 days before launch. what I did was creating all my charrs in one day to get the names that I wanted .
during that time killing lvl 1 NPCs 90% of em droped somthing no gear but lots of crafing mats.
last month I bought a charr slot with gem and guess what not even a single lvl 1 NPC droped somthing for me . and I killed alot of em in hope to get the crafting mats.
I really can’t believe people feel they NEED to hold aggro to finish a dungeon. My advice, and I’ve repeated this often, is find a guild with people who play like you do and learn to play with them.
My guild has done dungeons since the change, and yeah, they’re a bit harder. Sometimes it takes a while to get someone back up. You start rezzing them a bit, dodge away, wait for an opportunity, someone else dances in adds a bit of rez, and then they get back up. And you know, it works.
But I could imagine that with pugging all this stuff seems like weird science. There are plenty of ways to get around this change, including several skills that people can take to help up downed players before they actually die.
It’s just that people would rather complain than figure out how the stuff is supposed to be done.
Edit: Oh yeah, it helps if you’re all in mumble, vent or teamspeak, since you can say I need rez, instead of trying to type it and hoping someone reads it in time.
have you ever been hit by the strongest creature in GW2 it is the Graveling scavenger after you are bing hit nothing will help you and if another player tries to rez you he/she will be down too.
off topic. also there are plenty of vetrans that are 1000 time stronger than Zahitan the poor dragon because they have speed and hit hard (shark is one example).
the real problem is ONE HIT KILL nobody should die from one hit. people don’t like it in pve or pvp and sometimes it is better to leave someone to die than trying to rez cuz the party will wipe because of that.
REMOVE the one hit kill and remove way points from dungeons and the world excipt cities and towns villages .
I noticed, and i claim this for a fact, that when more than certain amount of people is farming in a small area, unless you have a team you will not get a single drop!
Tested it with a guild several times. While everyone has a party in 20 man farm, each champion drops at least a blue. As soon as you leave the party and farm on your own, nothing, not even a glob of glooby gloop.
I doubt that is intentional, and I doubt that this is the way you want to make people form parties for. And please don’t tell this is not how its working, because we tested it for several hours and every time a person went solo, that person didn’t get any drops at all.
Thats why I see LFG in Orr when ppl are doing event or killing a champion even if they are in the same place.
last night i stayed in combat for 5 mints but did not have anything attaking me was waiting to heal after i killed an npc did not happen could have been more than 5 mints but i left the area and reported a bug.
the sad thing is that gw1 players that are leaving gw2 are posting here on forms, but not even one single word from Anet to tell us that they will do somthing about it like adding more skills in the next expansion.
NO TO GRIND.
if the lvls give more stats to ur charr yes but to wear new armor hell NO.
So Vik, we’ve gone from fractals loot being nerfed to there now being a DR bug. Conveniently everyone in your various chat channels agrees with you, despite the inconsistency of your claims.
So what’s the flavor of the month next month gonna be?
If you are one of the lucky guys don’t call us liars.
Yes. I am happily playing Mech Warrior Online and Firefall.
In my mind, it is extremely unlikely that GW2 will reach the status of e-sport that GW1 did. I believe that there are three primary reasons for this.
- A large portion of the e-sport crowd either thought that GW2 would not be an e-sport and didn’t purchase it or have subsequently quit playing it after feeling it failed to deliver. So ANet is already working at a negative and they will need to attract back people that they let down or didn’t attract during development. This is often more difficult to do than to initially attract players. That said, it is buy to play so there is a chance that – if ANet acts fast enough – they can attract the e-sport players back.
- ArenaNet failed to realize that the most attractive aspect of GW1 to e-sportsmen was simplicity and tactical variety. In GW1 each profession was described as being a deck of cards like in Magic the Gathering. It was such a simple yet strategically deep system that it easily welcomed beginners while also providing deep and varied strategies. While GW2’s build system is grand compared to most MMO’s it is a shallow pond compared to the lake that was GW1.
- GW2 is a cash cow. It isn’t an e-sport. People notice things like this. The over-importance of the gem store makes people like us not want to play simply because it makes us think that that ANet isn’t here to provide a grand e-sport arena. They’re here to make money and that’s where their priorities lie. Note that during the transition from GW1 to GW2 many of the key members left ANet because they “were moving in another direction”. Those people were responsible for GW1’s focus on PvP.
I’m not saying that GW2 isn’t a good game. I enjoy it. I enjoy WvW. I just do not now nor at any time in the future see it becoming a legitimate e-sport on the scale of GW1. Certainly the potentially is (was) there but I think it is too late as ANet has already squandered it’s reputation with the community and almost entirely abandoned the advanced build system that originally attracted so many e-sportsmen to GW1.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++1
If they don’t make the changes to GW2 to be as fun as GW1 I will hate GW2 from all of my heart cuz I know there will be no more expansions to GW1.
Just wanted to give a quick update on this topic. We’ve completed verifying every update from the november release, and there were zero changes to anything what so ever that would have negatively affected loot in any way/shape/form. We can officially confirm this as an X-files level conspiracy at this point.
We’re in the midst of evaluating every loot table in the game and running massive random roll evaluations table by table, as well as evaluating every system game wide that causes a player to qualify for items to determine if any issues exist in those systems from launch.
Will update again when we have another round of concrete information.
so today i’m going to test what you said by killing champions and vetrans and give you the feedback
Or huge loot nerf incoming.
just kiiding lol.
1-combat mechanics it is my skill vs this heavy bag of hp who can kill me in one hit(i wish if they change it to skill vs skill.
2-skills tied to weapons.no skills to make my own build not the 3 builds that the game offer everyone.
3-all proffisions feels the same because all classes have the same skills on weapons.
4- dose this game have loot.
5- too much randomness in everything . take the mesmer for example too many skills that offer random stuff that may save ur live or help you finish the enemy or give somthing u don’t need at that time.
and what you wrote.
the only time I have fun in WvW is when facing 1v1 .other than that it is folow the blue dot and wipe the enemy or get wiped by the enemy(the big zerg wins).without knowing who just I killed or who just killed me .
Other than adjustments to Orr rewards (as covered in the release notes) the only change made in this patch to over-all loot was allowing high level characters who are playing in lower level zones the opportunity to earn top level gear to provide greater rewards. (as also covered in the release notes)
There are no “stealth nerfs”, any changes will be covered directly in the release notes, of which there are none.
Can anybody from Anet explain why killing 5 champions 10 mints each =50 mints
20 vetrans 3 mints each=60 mints.
that is almost 2Hr of game play with no drops and only getting trophy bones from trash mob.
(edited by Assyrian.4827)
I,m also having same problem killed 5 champions more than 20 veterans and got no drop and trash mob don’t drop anything other than trophy bones.
I took my low lvl Ele to WvW and got 10 levels up but my armor was all broken then I went back to Pve to get some cloth drop from farming mobs never happened did not get any.
Killed 5 champions and more than 20 veterans with another charr doing Orr events with no drops.
(edited by Assyrian.4827)
My whole point is there is no such thing as DR bug. For some reason that I can only speculate on, ANET stealth nerfed loot drops and I say stealth because it was not in the patch notes but its obviously and clearly happening to EVERYONE except those few who are getting the lucky side of RNG.
But there is a DR bug (or perhaps a “consistent RNG bug”), becuase the people who get the lucky side of RNG have been, according to my observations, getting the lucky side of RNG CONSISTENLTY since the 11/15 patch
You (and some of your friends, the same ones) get porous bones by the stack and a couple of blues.
They (and some of their friends, the same ones) get an exotic, 4 lodestones, and 4 ectos worth of rares in the same time.
And no matter how many times you run with them, it’s always the same for each account – the “have lucks” get every loot amazing every time for months, the “have none” have stopped waypointing to dragons because it’s too expensive.
This is statistically impossible, which means there’s a bug.
This is really what I hear in guild mumble when they are running dungeons it is always the same lucky person who is getting the good drops.
Remember when trying to get Survivor title in GW1 before they made it easy to get.
It was a challenge but achievable one.now why I’m talking about death, cuz in GW2 we die a lot (don’t respond by saying L2 dodge THANKS) it doesn’t matter how good you are you will still die a lot in GW2.but I’m suppose to be a hero who will save Tyria who only died now type in game /deaths.
I don’t feel like a hero and don’t understand the reason behind this is related to armor breaking/repair kit/TP.or is it something else.
After spending hours in Orr whith no drops from champions and vetrans and 90% of trash mob I think we are going in that direction.
No I will not play if the only way to get things is to hit TP.
5 champions killed today with no drop.
more than 20 vetrans no drop from most of em.
and got only greens from chest temple event.
Bad luck or
DR (did not stay in one area i was visting all the temples) or
Loot nerf
what I’m doing wrong ?
This is the first post that I will not get Infraction point for it.
Thank you ArenNet for fixing Orr. It was on my list for things that need to be fixed.
I hope one day one of the Devlopers can confirm that they are working to fix the otehr things in my list.
my list:
1- Add more skills to our weapons (not right now but in future expansion cuz I know you need money to run the game and i’m willing to pay cuz this was the way in GW1 and it worked).this will make the game more fun and give a boost to PvP.
2-Add GvG. I’m not sure why it is not in the game are you affraid it will kill WvW.
3-Kill marshal Trahearne in the future story.
…especially when we have some perfectly good charr vehicals, dolyacks and horses.
Horses? Never in my gw1 or gw2 life have I ever seen a horse. I don’t think they even exist in Tyria, or have I missed something?
GW1 have horses undead ones.
Do it as it was in gw1 we had way point near portal when we leave or enter an area.
In GW2 we don’t have the feeling of being in danger that you get when you fail at killing monsters or completing dungeons because we don’t care if we die there is always a way point near me.
remove one hit kill from the game.
Mounts(no flying) will be a good thing to have as a way for fast traverl make a quest for ppl to finish and get a donkey or a horse as a mount and all other special mounts will be in TP .
all mounts shold be the same a horse will not run faster than a donkey or a dolyak.
(edited by Assyrian.4827)
because the way the game is made you don’t need anyone for pve (unless you find someone who wants to do an event with you).
Guild leaders:
kick anyone who deoes not represent you.
there is somthing called Loyalty.
If we have alliances instead of multiguild that way you will have guilds for everything wvw guild pve guild pvp guild, you can join and do anything and still be in your guild..
Yes. and bring with the Monk the holy trinity with its bads and goods.
it will be better than wht we have now which is nothing for roles.
Can you provide specific examples of non-soloable events? At scale 1, they’re all soloable, or should be. Are other players in the area scaling up the event without helping?
I could not kill a lvl 5 boss with my lvl 25 Ele in asura starting area there is no way to finish it with 1 person (plz don’t tell me to dodge or l2p).
GW2
bad combat check.
bad story check.
bad pvp check.
no GvG check.
and the list go on.
4/10
Like any mob or area, Orr takes some getting used to. The area, and the mobs, help to fine tune your build and your ability to play. When I first arrived in Orr,I felt much the same way as you. The undead were fast, had a ton of control abilities, and there were a lot of them. The longer I played there, the more counters I found I had for them, the more ways I found to take them down quickly, it increased my spatial awareness (no longer pulled mobs I didn’t intend to) I’ve always thought of Orr as a crucible, more of a help than a hindrance in the long run. Stick with it and you also will overcome.
I’m not talking about Orr as I said I avoid any place that has undead but they are everywhere (personal story).

I avoid any place that has Risen in this game but tried to finish my story and it all Risen fighting the undead makes me want to uninstall GW2.not because they kill me but they are super annoying to fight.
PLEASE remove the speed and give the undead some skills and weapons because running from a mob of undead that want to kick my butt is not fun at all.
They will or GW2 world will be empty beautiful place .
OP is not asking for em to make pve easy.he is asking for a different combat mechanic that is fun and I agree with him.
Is it only GW1 players that find GW2 boring for several reasons or players from other mmos that have the same feeling.
because 99% of GW1 players (my guess from reading everywhere) are not happy about how gw2 turned to be .
Mike O’Brien: " Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild Wars 1 and puts it into a persistent world that’s got more active combat, a fully-branching, personalized storyline, a new event system to get people playing together, and still no monthly fees."
by action combat did he meant movement (dodge).
the story oh please, I have 2 lvl 80 and no reason to finish the story of any of em ( I miss Prince Rurik and Gwen).
event system only works if you are with a zerg. sometimes i have the feeling to do anything in this game you need a zerg.
So my guild fought for 2 hours and finally we took the keep after 5 minutes a big Zerg takes the keep what we have achived ?
Is it only about karma and exp for me that’s not enough.
That’s why I’m calling for a home for guilds to defend and be proud of doing that.
In some way they could bring GvG back and let it be part of WvW.
In order for this to work they need to remove multiguild system and bring the alliance back.
the problem with the Zombies is that they are annoying there is no challenge.
if I wanted a challnge i will go for a vetran or champion but the problem with that by the time I clear the mob around em they respawn before I even start fighting the vetran or the champion.
3. There are very few places left to put gold sinks. Any suggestions?
pay to enter dungeon/wvw/ pvp.
(edited by Assyrian.4827)
I never said I want the game to be easy.
and the fact that I can make a charr and take it to Orr in 2Hours is telling you how easy it is.
OP, I believe you are a veteran, however if you’re going to turn this game into WoW, you might as well have the developers give you the Sword of Judgement at lvl 1 and just turn everything you see in front of you into dust in a matter of seconds.
The point is not to make the game easy, to the contrary, it’s to make the game as challenging as possible but still balanced for all skill levels.
Don’t you want to feel a sense of accomplishment when you achieve something? Sure, you’ll be let down from time to time, but that’s in the nature of things.
I did not play wow
(edited by Assyrian.4827)
I’m a GW1 veteran who bought the CE of GW2 because I enjoyed GW1 but I’m not enjoying GW2 the only thing I’m doing now is WvW.
I know GW2 is a different game but it could be a better game if the developers did what is wright.
I want some things in GW2 to be changed:
1-we need more skills to be put on our weapons so we can have more builds.
2-the ability to save builds and change builds without having to pay(put gold sink somewhere else).
3-no armor breaking (put the gold sink somewhere else). The reason is many ppl will not fight cuz they will lose money so they will run or logout.
4-fix what is wrong with the game first before adding new content.this will make it a solid game.
5-monsters NPC health reset immunity to damage and respawn time all need to be fixed.
6-fix Orr and the super fast zombies and put some distance between em.
7- no more nerf to loot stop pushing everyone to the gemstore.
If you agree or disagree put the number and say yes or no and hope this will reach the developers .
