Usually people start forming parties to complete events and such at high level areas such as Orr and the Silverwastes, where it’s incredibly difficult to complete them solo, however is not required.

[Suggestion] Mounts and Combat

Avascar.9237

Note: Talking about horses, land mounts and the like. Not flying mounts.

I hear that people in this community isn’t so fond of mounts, since it would be no point because of waypoints. But what if it’s a game mechanic where we can use in combat? Mounts can add so much more strategy in WvW and PvE because how it can be used. We can master how to use our mounts effectively and use our weapons while riding a mount using the mastery system. It can also be something prestige by completing really difficult content and obtaining a special mount.

Riding a mount shouldn’t have a static movement speed, it should gain momentum as you ride longer. Hitting walls really fast would boot you off your mount, or at the least slow you down. In Heart of Thorns, where in a dense and heavy jungle it wouldn’t be convenient. However in a desert cough crystaldesert cough cough cough (bad throat), it would be a great use.

Jumping should also vary how fast you go, so riding really fast would have you jump a nice delicious distance, in the other hand jumping while moving a short distance would be a very awkward jump. This is so that jumping puzzles can have an extra mechanic with mounts, while most current jumping puzzles can’t benefit from mounts. It can also set up really amazing WvW battles and save a lot of time for travel.

Mount combat should be similar and inspired by the sport Jousting, where heavy CC such as knockbacks would boot you off your mount or likewise. Mount combat would be amazing for initial charges, having an army using steeds to charge Stonemist Castle.. Additionally, you should craft horses together to get a better horse in the Mystic Forge, or go do a collection to get a special mount (or some other super hard content!).

I believe that’s all, feel free to add more discussion.

Mobs in Starter Zones Lie

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Avascar.9237

Avascar.9237

I’ve been wandering around in starter zones, only finding that the mobs don’t do what the game says they do. A drake in Ashford Plains don’t do knockback, Forest Spiders in Queensdale don’t poison, and Sons of Svanir in Wayfarer Foothills don’t freeze and bleed, but they do knockback and cripple. I’ve come across a Son of Svanir, the abilities it said was knockback and bleed, but he only did knockback.

The perfect game, no issues

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Avascar.9237

“Objectively”, what a joke.

I liked Guild Wars 1, played over 100 hours in it. It’s not “perfect”, everything has its issues. One of the main frustrating things is the death penalty, the way maps were designed, and how inconvenient quests can be. Some quests make you go a really long path to explore this area and do something. After that, the same NPC gives you a new quest to go to the same area again, but further past. Really? They could’ve given me the 2 quests at the same time. I sense an illusion given by nostalgia.

Compared to Guild Wars 2, where AI is more varied, swimming, jumping, and just things that’s a lot more flexible and more open to you. But I suppose that’s just A-Net trying to cater a game towards the time’s generation. Like every other game, it has its issues.

Is Guild Wars 2 dying?

in WvW

Avascar.9237

I’m afraid, that season 3 only gonna push more people away from wvw and from gw2.
Enough is enough, we have waited 2 years, for all this time they have done almost nothing, except some cosmetic changes, and one huge and very beautiful pve/karma train map.
For 2 years they didn’t listen us even once, i dont think they gonna start now.
Time to move on.

Right right, of course. We should believe that all of the new features and content A-Net has delivered post-launch has been absolutely nothing unless you as a “people in masses aka us” got something that you wanted in Guild Wars 2.

Misc. Stories for Story Journal?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Avascar.9237

Avascar.9237

I’ve been thinking about it, but having short stories for the Story Journal covering the mysteries in lore would actually be a good idea. Somewhat they’re like quests, but more diverse and each has a story of their own (like Runescape). To unlock them, perhaps you have to be at a certain level, talk to an NPC, find a secret area, or obtain a special item from a champion.

Would this be a possibility? I know quests aren’t going to be in the game, in a way we already have them. I really like going to other kinds of lore other than the dragons. In a sense, rather than having the main storyline go absolutely everywhere to fill in all the mysteries of the lore, why not have multiple short stories covering each piece of lore?

Lets Talk: Player Housing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Avascar.9237

Avascar.9237

Player housing (including the decoration and furbishing) amounts to content that for the most part only the owner, a single player can enjoy.

For many, this enjoyment is limited in direct proportion to the degree in which the housing can be displayed and shown off to others.

Instanced housing, while technically allowing players to do this, is a ‘sad’ and uninteresting method of implementation.

Unless a player can have his/her house in a ‘real’ non-instanced part of the world, i.e. have it freely viewable and accessible by other players, motivation and meaning is severely diminished.

If it exists only in an instance, it doesn’t really exist.

And I believe I have a solution for that. You know that game, Dragon’s Prophet? I never played the game and but you can have a house, but you have to buy land.

So in Guild Wars 2, how about you go to the race-specific home instance, and instead of just some district, it’s actually a portal to an endless neighborhood. How would this work? It would be separated in streets, and a new street cannot be generated until all of the land is filled up with houses, and you can choose which land and how big your house can be. There can be exclusive items from the Gemstore, you can have a wall rack of weapons you collect, you can create jumping puzzles and custom dungeons. It’s like Runescape (I love that game despite its out-dated graphics because of the massive amount of content, lore, and customization).

Player housing like I described above would be amazing, GvG can be similar but instead it can be attacked by another guild and go through their traps, bosses they got, and stuff.

Probably I took these things from WS and other games that have features I admire, but GW2 has a gaping hole in it that I really want to be filled in.

The Content of New Zones in Maguuma

in Living World

Posted by: Avascar.9237

Avascar.9237

The Maguuma looks somewhat like a canyon, judging from the camera angle when Divinity’s Reach 2.0 was shown idling around and other scenes, the cliffs looks pretty steep. Possibly it won’t be like Queensdale where it’s all plains, I expect to be something like the Grove.

I also hope the mobs are unique in Maguuma, since the jungle dragon awoke and its corruption is already spreading, it might be like Orr.

What do you guys think of the theme the new maps are going for? I saw red golems so I don’t think it’s all about the dragon.

Mounts- Why or why not should they be added?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Avascar.9237

Avascar.9237

A thing that A-Net can do for mounts, is having them participate in combat. All players receive a mount from a small pool of their choice for free, and can unlock more by exploring the world (like the ranger).

Then, you can ride your mount and receive different skills, and it can be cool since it’s used in Black Desert and some other game I forgot about. This can be awesome for Mounts PVP Capture the Flag and racing. I’d say, various mounts should have around a 20-25% speed boost, no more no less.
