Quick question. The toxic shoulders and gloves…..i can transmute them like all my other gear right? or is it once

Transmuting costs transmutation charges, and you can transmute anything infinitely as long as you got ‘nuff charges. As long as they’re in your wardrobe, that is. Skin consumables don’t require a charge and is only used once, but then they go to your wardrobe for future use after it’s used.

My Little Problem with The Elder Dragons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Avascar.9237

Avascar.9237

So I’ve been wonderin’. About the world and the story, it all seems good. I want to keep this brief and all, for the sake of argument. I just like to point out that the Elder Dragons don’t feel very evil. In other words, don’t feel like they should be antagonists.

Yes, perhaps they are forces of nature, and it feels very messed up by tampering with nature’s cycles. But there should be an antagonist that’s at least relatable, someone that gives their side of the story and someone I can understand. Who’s going to understand the animistic motives of a freaking dragon? Okay, maybe a few (which, I won’t know how that’ll be done), but doesn’t make my point any less clear.

I feel the devs sacrifice the story just to have the feel-good and epic moments. I say the feels are tripled with a good story. I know they can write good, just look at Tybalt!

When is Shatterer going to be buffed/fixed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Avascar.9237

Avascar.9237

Agreed, Shatter should be upgraded to include SOME KIND of variation of attack so that you can’t just stand that and spam attack his big toe.

Over a year ago I wrote a post pertaining to that exact thing. In my reference I proposed numerous different attacks that they could add to make things more interesting. Though my example was Tequatl ( pre Buff, when he was just another Big toe to be stubbed), it could apply to any Dragon.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Mega-Boss-scaling/page/2#post1901188

Now unlike the Tequatl post Buff, they could add some of these features without making it so overwhelming as the new Tequatl has become. A little… can go a long way.

Perhaps, but at least we’ve been seeing this more often in A-Net’s recent bosses. Fun stuff.

Avascar.9237

To OP—no thanks. Leave it alone. Just like the people who say if TEQ/3 headed wurm is too hard (for whatever reason)and want them nerfed, just don’t play it. I say to you if you find kitten too easy, boring and not enjoyable-DONT PLAY IT. Go to the harder events or to the pavillion and enjoy that content. SO tired of people wanting buffs and nerfs because they don’t like a certain event and selfishly don’t care if it ruins it for others. There is hard content, there is easy content, there is zerg, there are events that require planning and coordination. There is enough varied content to go around. Quit trying to ruin it for others.

Perhaps I’m being biased here. Sure. Maybe it would be better off if every dragon isn’t super OP/tons of hp/massive coordination to beat it. I’m not proposing nor saying that Shatterer should be as hard as Teq or 3 Headed Wurm (rather, I’m saying a small buff would be appreciated), but the main problem here is that there is safe spot where the Shatterer can’t hit you at all.

Well, because the fact that you can sit there, spam attacks on his right paw taking no damage whatsoever and eventually killing him is actually really game breaking.

I mean for me, I guess it’s fine to stack on him, but the fact that The Shatterer doesn’t even attack you breaks it.

I think you need to look up what “game breaking” means. The fight may be underwhelming, but it is not game breaking.

Game breaking, I define when a player exploits a design flaw or glitch. The design flaw in the Shatterer is that there is a safe spot where you can’t hit it by the dragon, maybe from the minions and such but not the dragon himself.

In a more specific and on-topic manner, imagine a major mid-level boss. The devs made him look pretty and epic, and wanted him to be fought against massive amounts of players. But, there is a “safety spot” where this boss bashes around everywhere except this safety spot. Do you really think the developers of this game would really purposely make a safe spot where you can’t get hit by the boss at all?

Sure, don’t buff him. Go ahead, stack on him. But it’s really bothersome to have a design flaw of this kind. I’m not talking about morals or ethnics, but sometimes the designs and their holes of this game is so absurd and perplexing it’s difficult to comprehend if they really considered all of the possibilities in their game.

If this safety spot on the Shatterer is on purpose, then I’m sorry.

When is Shatterer going to be buffed/fixed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Avascar.9237

Avascar.9237

If the consequence would be another Tequatl, or something close, then i’d rather have Shatterer remain unchanged.

That’s just it, the content is at a certain level, and I’m not opposed to some changes, like they’ve done from time to time on other bosses (like SB and FE, or cleaning up Claw so there weren’t all the safe spots).

But anything outside that range, I would rather they add new content, like the evolved wurm, and people that would rather do the difficult content can go there, and if they are completely bored with the easier world events, they can not do them.

I’d rather they provide more content options for more people, rather than re-purposing existing content. I’ve never understood why this has to be an ‘us and them’ situation.

On a side note, I would like them to change that collection pre-event. It takes too long, and causes the event to needlessly bump up close to the following event, for those that like to do it (in my case, I do it at a time when the normal wurm is the next event). That collection pre-event causes scaling that ends up causing it to take 8 minutes to complete, leaving only 6-7 for the fight itself. Maybe replace it with a champion to kill, or something, like at the jungle wurm.

I do prefer the new content, but I propose the Shatterer is broken because if you stand in this one spot he can’t hit you. I don’t think he really needs to be another Teq, maybe just a bit stronger because of how easy this mighty dragon can go down, but the fact that this exploit still exists ruins the game in a big level. It makes this epic boss laughable.

Branching Relationships in GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Avascar.9237

Avascar.9237

So I’ve been wondering, if the new expansion/LS/Personal Story/Campaign will ever have a branching storyline with a variety of relationships with people?

Something like the Telltale games or dating sims, where your choices doesn’t just affect your path but also how people treat you. I haven’t been seeing any grand changes on how NPC’s treat me in the Personal Story since people always die whenever they’re around me in the Personal Story as if I’m the devil. But what I think is that the personality system will be perfect for this kind of thing.

For me it’s always been a really special thing to have how people treat you depending on your choices. I know this has been done before in GW2, such as the female human captain giving a reaction to you depending on your poor/commonfolk/nobel status quo early in the human PS, even though I never heard of this person or even met beforehand for me to take note that she’s an important character.

But seeing this more often and in a greater difference of choices you make will benefit it all. Maybe in the next PS if I chose not to warn the people of the destruction of Fort Trinity I can be like a lone wolf selecting a handful of people on my side (and maybe they can die depending on what you do and how you treat them) and fight the next elder dragon and unlock a title called “Lone Kittenbag” once I complete the PS.

Clockheart Boss is not fair

Avascar.9237

So I decided to play the Aether Path in Twilight Arbor. Went with a full party and everything.

But apparently, we spent 4 hours straight in this dungeon. Our performance is pretty terrible, but we still managed to keep going. Until we reached the final boss.

The final boss, Clockheart, just isn’t fair. Three times, the floor electrocutes, making me stand on a high platform. So when I thought I was safe, Clockheart decided “Hey, WHY NOT?” and threw a freaking gear at me. We all died.

So our party leader said “srry g2g bye cya”, left the party and we all teleported back to the entrance of the dungeon. Truly rage inducing.

The End.

I gave a picture of my evidence!

Honestly. OP. Please, just stop. Your writing is terrible.

Aside from that, underwater combat is actually fun and enjoyable but isn’t used as much and I can’t use some of my favorite skills. While this is understandable, I really want underwater-only skills since our first 5 skills change as well. Some tweaks will also need to be done.

Aside from this, in future update I want to swim in vast, vast oceans full of underwater cities and towns, it’ll be absolutely awesome.

Stacking.

A lazy gamer’s best friend.

But on a more serious note, I do agree they don’t give much reward. However, if dungeon completions starts giving out, let’s say, 10 rares, then the rares price on TP and their overall value would decrease. Isn’t that so?

So I’m wondering what kind of “better rewards” people want, really.

Stacking has ruined player skill levels

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Avascar.9237

Avascar.9237

So this is the new norm of Guild Wars 2.

When you want to use LFG and want to see real, experienced players, you have to say “no stacking”.

That’s like saying “no kitten ” every sentence you say to a guy.

“Let’s go to my party dude, no kitten .”

Yeah, great is it not?

EDIT: The word’s censored, but I’m basically saying that you have to say something ridiculous just to see supposed and normal results.

I’ll make the important stuff bold.

1. A more personal story, longer but don’t keep everything “repetitive”, keep the story moving with developing characters (characters shed their light on their fears, dreams, etc), don’t make deaths short lived, but painful and gives lots of things to think about. Important thing to note, don’t make every death a genocide.

2. More weapons and weapon skills

3. More hard bosses (up to par with Teq and 3-Headed Wurm)

And please, fix the well-known unintentional exploits.

GuildWars is one of the few MMOs for me that actually has worlds worth exploring, where I actually take time to enjoy the scenery. I remember getting both Factions and Nightfall they were such a breath of fresh air to the game. Even if you didn’t love it, it was something different. They could even make a new continent or have one on the nearby planet that humans supposedly came from.

TLDR?

Me want Cantha and Elona!

For me, I sincerely hate half the quests in GW1.

I have nightmares of getting a quest that I gotta travel 3 giant areas of the map, come back to town, and get a new quest going past the 3 giant areas of the map. It’s tedious.

Point 1 and 2 do exist in the game right now. I guess the lesson from your post is they aren’t noticeable enough?

Point 3, very much agree. The Dynamic Event system provided a starting point for this, but it just needs to expand, it needs to do more to really work in the long term.

Interesting post indeed, although shouldn’t this be on the dungeons section? I agree that the ai on gw2 mobs are very limited and unfortunately can be infinitely abused.

It would probably make sense to balance the mobs in the open world diferently from dungeon mobs, but the basic sentiment is the same for both.

Point 1 and 2 are in the game, just not noticeable enough, yes. Although when it comes to overhauling mobs and creating new mobs, I don’t see much variety so much that I’d have to change my strategy. Only mob type I know of that makes me change my tactics is the Molten Alliance/Flame Legion with their buffs and flamethrowers. My point is that I’d like more variety because most of the time every mob acts the same, this also applies to the current mobs we have.

They all basically sit there on a field, and go back to their spawn post when they get too far. However I do suppose that 2-minute idle animations is something that gives players a more immersive experience, something I do appreciate and enjoy.

I just want mobs to actually have powers. Not “sometimes” “one power” that they “might” pull out if they feel threatened enough in the few seconds before they die.

If you face some of the mobs with lots of skills, they are actually semi-challenging, and that’s all it should be something designed to be ground into dust.

Bosses are the same problem, repeated… too many one shots, no real powers. There’s no creativity at all besides “lol CC and one shot the player” or “lol mass CC and one shot all nearby players”. That’s pretty much it, really.

That said, I agree with many of your points, although I do not feel they are high priorities as they would drain significant resources from bigger problems.

Most of the issue simply lies with mob/boss skill sets/mechanics.

By the way, the Shatterer doesn’t turn because almost all world bosses are immobile. Only a few of them (like the Risen High Wizard) are mobile, the rest are Champions. This seems an intentional design decision by ANet; the mistake is making it so that players can surround and immobile object (no walls, etc.).

The mechanics and mob movesets would need to be reworked, but I gave some kind of solution to counter this problem. While it does take significant resources to redesign the mobs of Tyria, it would just be a pinch to take some baby steps on stopping this whole issue, at least.

I was really hoping this thread would be about “Weird Al” Yankovic. But, I see I was wrong.

Are you saying you want him to produce music for GW2? :v
