I read this whole thing and still don’t understand what you mean with overtuned. When you said you forced the idea of dungeons/fractals onto players, though, it’s exactly the opposite. It’s just a small instanced area. The personal story had a lot of them before.

But in my belief when I think of the races, I think of them as
Humans: Finding strength in numbers
Charr: Finding strength in will
Norn: Finding strength in honor
Sylvari: Finding strength in experience/knowledge
Asura: Finding strength in need to prove themselves

glitched my way their once, it looks like a portal but it’s just a shiny wall. It’s a location they can attach new world to, like the fortress just now.
I like stuff like the fortress better, since you just see walls and gates. Seeing portals is annoying because you somehow want to go there and already know what’s there.

Can we start reporting commanders for AFK’ing at events until some people clear the pre. I mean.. isn’t that what the whole commander tag is for? for taking charge?

I mean, I know people consider it a vanity item, but if you let people continue using it as such there will never be a good purpose. some events like the centaurs and the shatterer have 3-6 commanders waiting at the base while you have to be lucky if someone does the pre. In most cases they are done normally, but only after a few people go and check up why the pre isn’t finishing

Expansion is coming!

Ayakaru.6583

Like I said, it’s hard to use your character for that purpose, but lorewise they were invented for that reason because they could pass information through the spirit realm. A ritualist could either extract information from a spirit(ual being) or use the spirits to ship information in a mere second. I’m very well aware anet didn’t give us those skills back then.

Expansion is coming!

in Living World

Posted by: Ayakaru.6583

Ayakaru.6583

anet has stated several times they won’t make an expansion as long as they believe the living story can hold plenty of material. That being said, an expansion would likely take a whole year at the very least, so it wouldn’t even be coming anytime soon.
Plus, new races, professions, lands, abilities, all those things can be introduced through the living story.

And ritualists were removed because their main purpose was information exchange long distance (according to lore, my ritualists never did anything exept spirit spam). Since technology has passed 250 years, ritualists have become unnecesary. The only ability they would have returning for is carrying ashes and summoning spirits.

A. Guild Locator
A togglable option that lets me see where other guild members in the same zone are

B. Party Size
Sometimes we want to do big events with the guild, and we end up with like 15-20 people. However, we can’t all fit in one party. And when we split up, we cannot have commanders because if we join one commander’s squad we can’t see the other half(halves) of the group. Increasing the party size in PvE would be a good plus in my opinion (maybe auto-toggle the simplified party_UI when it gets too big)

C. Join Party
Sometimes the menu allows me to pick ‘Join Party’ but this option is never there if my friend already is in a party. That is exactly the only time I need it.
So my suggestion is a universal ‘join party’
If I’m already in a party it will send an invite quest.
If my friend is in a party it will send a request to join.
But please no more having to write full player names if I want to join a party.

D. Map Travel
Very commonly you want to warp to another map, and you pick the closest waypoint. Contested, no problem, we’ll send you to a nearby waypoint.. or do we?
in 85% of the cases you got thrown into the oposite direction of where you want to go. so how about if we get a contested waypoint, instead of slinging us in the wrong direction, give us a popup where we want to go

E. Finding people in WvW
You enter WvW, but there’s no commander, oh what to do, oh what to do. You’ll be left at the mercy of the zerg to tell you where they are. Oh how are you ever going to find them. << self explanatory

They should also remove the crates from the platform as well at Golem.

Maybe, until they still get hit by the machine gun and the shockwave. But that isn’t by far as deadly as the electric fields. If they make the machinegun just as deadly as the fields for the onstanders I would be happy, too. What matters is that people can’t go AFK or slack about without getting killed.

That’s what removing the boxes would do as they’re 99% safe when standing on them except for the final shockwave attack.

I will herin try to give a summary on ‘broken’ bosses and a suggestion on how to change this.

1. Fire Elemental:
Problem; Really long and boring pre followed by a boss who dies in 3-5 seconds
Fix: Send out multiple golems that must all be protected. over a shorter time span. This will involve more people than the current 5 following the golem and the 100 waiting for said to finish. and during the mid phase a few more stronger mobs that actually pose a threat (in the eyes of lv15 players). Actual fight: make the fire elemental have more health, and when dead, break up into several lesser fire elementals rampaging about.

2. Shatterer
Problem: no one coming to pre and a 100 players rifling/casting at the side
Fix: I don’t have much of a suggestion for the first part but for the second: Ocassionaly make him flap his wings dealing critical damage to his sides. He’s a dragon liuetenant for kitten’s sake. There shouldn’t even be a safe zone.

3. Svanir Shaman
Problem: Autoattack killable
Fix: give him slightly less health, and occassionaly resummon the portals and/or the support svanir. Also make him walk out front towards the blizzard-tornados, who are currently more for show than anything else.

4. Claw of Jormag
Problem: Phase 1 isn’t difficult, it’s boring (phase 2 is okay)
Fix: instead of 2 long icewalls, have 4 short icewalls, and inbetween resummon a new ice crystal at any 1 of the original locations at random. make it that the time consumtion remains the same, but that people have to move a bit (less boring)

5. Golem Mark-II
Problem: Fields
Fix: more of a public demand, to even further decrease the amount of particales you see from other players. There are so many flashe effects, zones and AoE that it’s hard to see the static fields until you actually take damage.
EDIT: Turns out casters/rangers are also completely safe from har (Safe the knockback attack) When standing on the crates.

6. Megadestroyer
Problem: The fight itself is fine, but it’s a very timeconsuming one, and it’s a dragon minion why is it’s loot table less valuable than any of the starter zone bosses?
.
.
.
.
.
Please, to spark future conversation, keep this civil, and discuss these as suggestions and ideas, I would love to hear yours as well. What I do not want to see are complaints and laziness whines

The tragedy that is megaserver

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ayakaru.6583

Ayakaru.6583

Ever since the megaservers it has become difficult to do timed events and occurences, like the 5 temples in Orr.
German and French servers are also thrown into the pool much to the misery of both parties.

So I think this would be a great time to re-introduce an old GW1 system that everyone loved and, as I see it, Anet would not have much of a counterargument for:

Instance Jumping!

Back in GW1, if you didn’t like a zone, you could jump to a different copy of the same map. Especially the capitals had about 8 instances you could choose from.
Now, if there were, say, more than one active megaserver of a zone, should it not be a normal thing that we can jump to one that has, either a different population than the one you’re thrown in, or you could toggle to see if one had a temple contested or not.

This could also help with world events, like the Triple Trouble that is often organized by a large crowd jumping. Instead of having luck and bottlenecking the server while taxi’ing, you could just toggle to the map and join. Full is still full, so if you jump and create a new map, and tell everyone which it is, you won’t have much trouble with outsiders jumping into your instance

However, name core content that was removed and that is ACTUALLY missed.
Core content that was changed during the NPE update, this core content wasn’t removed, only changed, which as previously stated they are allowed to do.

The “My greatest Fear” section was removed from the core content, and it is missed. It may be that it’s written in the T&Cs that AreanNet can change content in the game (and it’s pretty important that they do), but just because they do, it doesn’t make them immune from critique to what they do. By equal measure, just because content is added with no additional fee in a majority of circumstances, that doesn’t absolve it from scrutiny either.

The “buy to play” argument is also highly flawed. That model applies when you buy a game, and you run that game; with GW2, you buy to get into the game, and then someone has to keep the lights on. This does need people to put more money into the system, but if you think that means that you can just ignore everybody else that doesn’t put money in, I can’t explain why that’s wrong better than these guys did. I’m linking this video now, because I keep seeing people trivialising the cost for past episodes as “only 200 gems”. It’s “only” 200 gems per episode, which is currently 600 gems (or $7.50, or 95 gold as of the time of this post), and that cost will only increase with time. If season 1 was charged at “only 200 gems” per each of the 25 episodes, that costs “only 5000 gems” or $62.50 plus tax, or 790 gold and likely more as the cost will inflate. You’d have to really, really want to play that content to justify putting up the cost.

Everyone is saying that the My Biggest Fear plotline is missing, but I completed it on my Thief last week and started one on my elementalist today. it’s still there.

When you bought GW2, you paid for the content that was released at that time.

Can I request a partial refund because some of the base content was removed?

I think the following video will answer that question best

So, what I got from that post is that ANet cares about it’s customers’ experience of a product about as much as the Arcane Council cares about skritt social order.

Well put. But customer experience is something different from financial management and reposession. When you play/buy and MMO, community expects you to know how that community works. it’s in the ToA, they can always change the core product.

However: If they change or replace something, then it’s still part of the original content. If they add new content, it’s not, and then they can choose wether or not they want to charge you for it. If they remove core content, they can also freely do so.

However, name core content that was removed and that is ACTUALLY missed.

^ THIS! +1

Please don’t ever forget that GW2 is buy2play, like GW1 was. Devs don’t HAVE TO give us free content, but they choose to do so.

If you can’t play the LS, just log in a second and forget about it until you are able to play through it. If you can’t log in at all, 200 gems isn’t that big of a deal, imo.

Actually… They do Have to give us content (or at least a reason to stay). Because most of us aren’t Ok farming precursors the rest of our lives.

No, no they don’t have to. The only obligation they have is to keep te servers working fine and keep fixing programming issues. Anything else is new stuff. If you don’t like farming precursors, then don’t. You’ve bought a fruitbasket, to say, and if you don’t like one particular fruit in it, don’t eat. But you can’t buy the fruitbasket whilst not buying everything.

When you bought GW2, you paid for the content that was released at that time. Every game change or fix is a given maintenance.
Everything else, be it living story or whatever, is a completely new content. Any normal company would put this on purchase, but Anet is being friendly by giving it to us for free during the first 2 weeks.

So instead of whining how you have to pay for new content (it’s like whining about having to pay for WoW expansions or whatever)
You can just log in during the two free weeks, You don’t even have to play, just log in for a second and log back out, you have 2 weeks for that

People who complain about this make me feel like they go to the mall and complain something costs money while it was on discount a month ago.

I both agree and disagree. It’s true that the gaming community has a silent contract on speaking english or chinese. However, in countries like france they don’t teach english in schools by default. It’s an extra class they have to sign up for.

So while I agree english is a must for the community, if there’s no option to get a specific language-realm, then you can hardly blame the players. Before megaservers there were german and france servers (even a spanish one if I recall) but with the megaservers this became a big soup. Maybe the people who have [DE] or [FR] as their home server should still get their own instance, and guest the english servers when they wish or are able, too.

TLDR;
The community agrees speaking english is a must, but if there is no server choice, you can hardly blame the players.
Fix; restore at least the [DE] and [FR] servers, within the MS routines.

Farm toxicity and fix suggestion!!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ayakaru.6583

This morning during coiled watch (see attachment) the usual toxicity.
To kindly put it, they kindly requested that I cease my biological functions.

What did you expect? well, for sure not that they told you to die, but, let’s look at it from the other side (and i in no way take part in this failing event farming):

’this morning, i was playing gw2 with a big group of pals. We were enjoying this event where you can kill mobs like crazy as long as you let the event fail. There were, like, 30 people doing this, having a good time.

Then, suddenly, ONE. I mean, ONE single guy shows up and tries to ruin the fun for all 30 of us. At first we thought he was a noob and sort of kindly told him to let the event fail, but he would insist in that HIS right to play the game how he wanted was superior to OUR right (mine and all the other 30 guys’) to enjoy it how we wanted. We then told him to stop being and @sshole and go play somewhere else, and the guy insisted in ruining the fun for us.

Well, it got pretty bad afterwards, and i’m sure some of my pals told him to GTFO and probably said things about his mother or who knows but, what did the guy expect? had this been real life, he would have had to face a very angry mob and he would have surely got his @ss kicked off. Being this a fairly children friendly game, he got off with just a couple of insults. Less than he deserved, if you ask me. ’

See? i am sure anet needs to make events more rewarding if you succeed rather than if you fail. But anet cannot change people’s attitude. If I realise my behaviour is a problem for a lot of people around me, no matter how right i am, I will try to stop the offense.

You not only kept offending, but insisted in your right to do so, and call the other people toxic. You cannot go around trolling people and complain about their reaction. YOU caused that reaction, after all.

“I was so excited to start the new season two story. I had paid 200 gems for the last chapter, and really having enjoyed the previous I jumped straight into. Then, my quests redirected me to the shiverpeaks, to stop the Icebrood. Little did I know that my previous experience with sons of svanir was a false one. Because the enemy was not the Svanir, no, it was the playerbase. They were intent on helping the icebrood succeed in their wicked ways for their greed had been rewarded.
As for today, I still falsely hope for a chance to be able to defeat these svanir, and return to the story that I paid for. Until then, I will just uninstall until the greedy cease to be svanir’s allies. I’m sorry, Mordremorth, another hero will have to stop you, for I cannot until this has been passed.”

Why does it matter so much how other players play the game? Every time one of these farms comes up most of the toxicity arises when people intentionally antagonize the farmers. Why are you there in the first place if you have no interest in farming? I’m not gonna buy LS as an excuse since “usual toxicity” implies regular attendance.

Personally I can’t stand prolonged guard staff spam so I have zero interest in open-world farm. However, that thought process of “I don’t like how that player is making gold, but Anet won’t do anything about it so I’ll take matters into my own hands” is exactly what drives people to grief dungeon sellers. Nobody except Anet has the right to tell people how to play the game. A fix will come if it comes but until then you’re just as guilty of generating toxicity if you go out of your way to hassle those farmers.

I second that. Everyone chooses how he wants to play. Of course something has to be due to Living Story, but it also shouldn’t be a simple ‘champions won’t drop anything’. In that case, it would be infuriating to many. Maybe either completion or fail gives an opportunity to play the story, or respawn rate is much lower at succeed than at failure.

The suggestion wasn’t that champions wouldn’t drop anything, but that the above-normal rewards would be held until the event is succeeded. That would stop the intentionally failing.

you —--X——> the point

You ask why I was there if I didn’t want to farm? simple, because I want to play the game, I was helping someone who couldn’t get through this bit for his story because of the farmers.

I have no qualm with farming itself, I do that in Orr and elsewhere myself. But to farm by blocking progress for other people is the problem. This event is part of the storyline and some people can’t progress their story.

Huh, the casual army that whines about farmers in hope that with farming gone they might sometime catch up with the rest, except this will never happen is assembling as always.

Time to leave this forums for another 3-4 months.

Ohhhh almost forgot, someone flamed me at tpvp some hours ago, better remove that too, i can’t take that toxicity!

I have played guild wars since prophecies was released, so don’t throw me your casual gamer crap. I play a game because I want to accomplish something. Farming by breaking the game’s design doesn’t much like farming or accomplishing anything. Don’t know how your brain works but what they’re doing is quite similar to people who in the real world benefit from loopholes in the law for their criminal behavior.

I have one, go to another sever.

Boo-hoo some guy on the internet told me to cease my biological functions.

how? if you tell me how I would gladly cycle through the servers and find one where these venomous players aren’t. Until then, your command serves no other purpose than further proving my point.

Right now you get thrown into a random toxicated map. and you have to leave it at least 15 minutes before returning in order to be thrown into a different one.

This morning during coiled watch (see attachment) the usual toxicity.
To kindly put it, they kindly requested that I cease my biological functions.

So I have a suggestion to fix this (and other similar things)

During events, all mobs, regardless of type will drop the same loot as their basic level.
Veterans, Elites, Champions, they all drop the same stuff as unranked mobs.
(This only applies to mobs that spawn due to the event, eventless champions drop normal champion loot)
Then, when the event succeeds, you get bags depending on wether you score bronze, silver or gold. And the champion bags/boxes equal to the amount you creditly tagged during the event. This way, when the event fails, the farmers get nothing more than normal loot, but if the event succeeds, everyone’s happy.

Hope AN sees this. What do you people think of this?
I personally see little flaw in this except the hate I would get from the farmers.
