Did u even consider how useless gear pinging is ? Just annoying really.

I recommend just farming both sets from CoE. That way you dont waste stones or money on gear. Then again if your farming CoE your probably masking more money then cof speed runs counting cores/stones.

The easy road might be to nerf power/crit gear but it not real issue. Healing power and condition damage scale horribly. Start by fixing these . Healing skills should be % of max health so that vitality scales better. Toughness needs to make me survive abilitys that 1 shot players with out it. Its just not effective enough atm.
To me the cry to nerf zerker gear is wrong. Its the only gear working right atm. It scales at any amount/level/spec. Bring up other stats efficacy to match, don’t bring power builds down.

My question would be why? Are you really low/out of them? With the MF conversion i got mats to do tons of upscale with only a few shards. I don’t think i have ever been held back on a conversion by these mats, have you?
Once i had the relics or P. relics to buy the items i always had the other mats.

Uh, i guess this would be a good build to learn with. It offers medium-high dps and is as about as tanky as a thief should ever go. Solid PuG build or maybe for fotm if you swap in smoke screen. If you run in a more organized group you should give up the pvt armor for zerk and/or get some points into Deadly Arts. For food buffs I use omnomberry bars usually. This game is a farm. If i’m catching aggro a lot or just running out of endurance i use dodge recharge food instead.

a pistol thieves damage will most likely come from conditions, and condition builds can do just as well in PvE as others.

If direct damage is your only criteria for allowing a thief into your group why would you take one at all over say another 100b warrior or a mesmer?

Conditions are weak in pve and really limited to 1 condition build per group. Epidemic necro, and maybe Ranger or Engi do it well enough to justify that 1 spot i think. P/P thief doesn’t; maybe a well played pistol/dagger before caltrops nerf did, idk.

Zerk war in pve is amazing atm, able to maintain max dps while giving good utility and maintaining high survivability. If you want a dps it hard to choose another class over them. My personal favorite 5man atm is gard/mesmer/war/war/necro, but we also run non-optimal alt groups to farm zones. Most of us have a thief. Zerk thief is good dps, Cleaving with sword and back stabbing single target. They are just squishy and offer less useful utility then the big 3.

To earn your spot as a thief is very hard imo. We must go melee all glass to do good damage and yet to do so we have the survival skills of a wet noddle. You are going to have to get good at the dungeons themselves, Learn every tell and que as when to dodge/avoid damage. No damage except Maws agony is unavoidable, Some classes can face eat low damage attacks, we can not.
Any thief who is using Pistol Main-hand isn’t earning a spot in my group. The damage is terrible, so bad that it would be better to just stay in Shortbow when forced into single target ranged. I wish the auto attack and reload didn’t suck, but they do, stop lying to yourself and others. Only Bad thieves don’t melee. The difference is akin to stabbing someone with a knife or throwing a pillow across the room at them.

I will roll a noble as soon as the class is released lol. The symbol/shadowstep combo spell is amazing. I didn’t mind A-Net upgrading Orr mobs but they could have updated the Pact npc’s intelligence at the same time.

Step 1 – Add a pocket book/currency tab to hold the all currency/token/badges or whatever they add next. This is uncapped/stack-able storage. Crafting with tokens is instead changed to buying a special mat with tokens.
The rest can come later.

Scholar runes are still better than ruby orbs and will probably always be.
@Waraxx: It’s not only a CoF thing. Everywhere in PvE berserker gear works best by far. Using pvt or clerics or knights (well, an anchor should throw in some knight pieces) are just suboptimal – they suck.
A 5 berserker group is going to do every dungeon in this game faster and easier than a group of random armor sets.

How are scholar runes better? There’s no precision increase and the critical dmg increase is less.

Is it because of this “(6): +10% Damage damage while health is above 90%.” ?

yes and the 45 more power. Many over rate crit damage and undervalue power. I also read that 5 mesmer 1 ruby orb was better then all ruby because of the increased stats being slightly better then the crit damage.

Guild Bounties Now Punish Smaller Guilds

A lot of you are misunderstanding something here. You don’t need a large guild to do Bounties. If you fail to kill a Bounty target, it doesn’t mean your guild isn’t big enough. It means you aren’t good enough.

Hacking and slashing will only get you so far. You also need skill to do these missions. Think if it like Hard Mode. You need actual strategy.

Yeah your missing the point, do you even read bro? I’ve done T1 with my 4/5 man guild team but its luck as to which ones u get and where they r at. Honestly we will always have 4 qued up so we can hopefully get lucky and get the easy to find ones. We usually count on failing one or two of them to not having the man power to scout both.

Well idk how “small” your guild is but mine has been doing t1 bounties with 4-5 people since they started. No we don’t win every time. Each week we que up 2-4 t1 bounties and run them till we win. With Dulfy guide the hard part is usually finding them. With only 4-5 they dont upscale much so as long as your guild plays smart and takes a little time to learn the paths and mob strats T1 bounties are not impossible. Only people this change should hurt are those that use an alt guild for extra storage.

I suppose my point is that skipping is awesome, and I like being able to save time since it takes so many runs to get enough tokens for armor, etc. but I think it would be nice if more people would, in the event that one or more party member was really struggling with skipping, consider taking some time to clear some mobs to help them out.

Or at the very least, make a concerted effort to pull that member through. Too often I just see groups waiting while someone makes attempt after doomed attempt from the waypoint, growing impatient even though it’s obvious it’s not going to happen unless the group goes back and helps in some way.

(On this note, I <3 clever thieves)

Tough love is tough. We just want that person to learn it. If i go back to help or portal or stealth someone do they learn it? Its essential to learn as any weapon skill, build ,or cast order. Efficiency is the only display of skill in dungeons. Knowing the what, when and how to skip is a skill. Actual failure (as in cant win, give up, disband party) doesn’t really happen much. You either do something fast or slow. The good groups are the fast ones the bad ones are slow.
P.S. You know whats also a skill, Inventory Management. Yes we all have to sell, but buy some 18/20 slots and learn when to grind/forge/sell. Its cool you have 5 sets of gear and a shiny back piece but think you could buy a bank tab or a couple bag slots? Do you really need to carry around all that gear and half your legendary pieces?

Was it WoW or some other crappy game that taught you skipping trash was bad and you need to kill every mob? This isnt new. I did not play wow but in just about every other MMO dungeon I have sought ways to avoid trash mobs to get to the named. InEQ, EQ2, Rift, AoC, GW i know “skipping” was/is common practice. Skipping/training/running is a skill like it or not. Don’t act like this is some new concept to gw2. People have been doing this in games forever sorry you just noticed it.

Welcome to Daily Speed Wars 2. A net has created this artificial time race meta. Well they didn’t create it but pushed it a little farther then other games. Now all my time in game is to Completing my 1/days. I can not waste my time on trash mobs, because if i do i will fail to get one of my daily rewards.
Daily checklist -
Daily achievement pve
Daily ^ pvp
Daily fractal
Daily t6 harvest main/alt/alt
Daily Mega event boxes (timer dependent)
Daily Dungeon main/alt/alt
Daily SAB main/alt/alt/alt/alt (i also skip trash here.)
Daily JP’s Main/alt/alt/alt/alt
ect
By the time i get to dungeons yeah im skipping trash. Id love to say brake it down to one night concentrating on each area but A-net will punish me for doing so (punish/not reward depends on your PoV.) So each new day is a scramble to get as much done after work/before sleep. Some nights i have fun others it seems im just trying to make some quota i must or fall further behind those that do. I really hate the fact there i snow ay to play catch up in gw2. You either did you 1/days or your kitten out.

Since we all pretty much know the stuff you are now getting world exp is just the same stuff they have tracked all along, the reasons they gave for Wexp not being retro and being character bound just dont add up. Why would they risk alienating so many by taking this route with Wexp? Why were they finally ready to spend time on wvw after 7 months. Why did we just get a new exp tracking window instead of new maps liek we asked for?
Profits, Unless i miss my guess, with in the month the gem store will be selling a 50% World exp booster. Thats the real reason they chose to screw us out of account bound ranks and retro active ranks. This whole system we thought they made for the players was really just another scheme to line their pockets. Maybe i am wrong (been so plenty before,) but just watch the gem store booster window. W exp boosters are coming Id bet my last gold on it.

I will also confirm that this was not fixed. I did this last night and well had a blast doing it. Was never really into tpvp but i think i ‘ll play around a bit more now. Thing is i know this probably wasn’t “intentional” and yes it sucks for Pvpers who already had it done, but I personally think A Net needs to make it like this for every monthly and not an either/or reward. Tpvp is an underplayed part on gw2 and that anything that brings in so many players to it can’t be a bad thing.

From what i can tell, the Bonfires only restriction is the 15 minute duration. So, why not share them with as many people as possible? With guesting it seems we can share the heck out of these things. 1 person’s Fire can boost thousands of players on every character they have! There may never be a good reason to use a single booster again and yet tons of us will be using boost that never did before.
Besides the free one u can get for the living story, they cost 300 or 5 for 1200. For even 3 people(or 3 of your own toons) about to use a karma/MF booster it is better to a use a bonfire.
So are you dropping a bonfire down? Does your guild plan to drop them at a set time each day/week? Looking to form a booster club to share cost? Let get our share on and make the most of these things! Id suggest either here or maybe gw2lfg.com

Just NO and here is why. The last hing this (or most games) need are more passive buffs. It is bad enough the way they are ruining wvw with passives(maybe the ballista one is ok.) They only reward time invested not skill. If you wan tto add some reward for achievements make them active skills not “set it and forget it” buffs.
Example – spider slayer grants you – Web Slinger, utility skill, for the next 5 seconds you will reflect any projectiles from spiders for double damage.
IE – something you not only chose to use as a skill ,but has to be used at the right time and circumstances.

One of the reasons commanders may have to repress themselves is because unless you know the commander or already saw they had a tag, when they speak in chat, you do not know they are a commander. When in WvW they should allow the commander tag to be displayed next to the name in CHAT. That would catch everyone’s attention as to where to go. Maybe have a commander color to go with it or commander only chat.

I used to ping the buff icon to get people attention for a while.

I think its some Snes themed april 1st event. Goto Rata Sum and see the big cube with its Snes style controller panel. Also the date changing to april 1st trick plays an 8bit music version on char select.

Is it a Thief that utilizes his tools and functions to facilitate victory ?

Badly is someone who relies on stealth as a crutch, rather than a tool. Obviously you play P/D, so I guess someone a lot like you.

Like do developers even understand basic math? They say the other nerf was worse but the increase of 1 second is 100x worse solution to the problem of CnD spaming in pvp. Does it even stop that ? Cause i dont think so. This nerf is just poorly thought out and shows how little thought A-net is putting into the game.

As we played with the stealth changed mentioned in the SotG, we recognized that in conjunction with the change to culling this was an unpredictable change to make. We also felt that it was too big of a hit to these stealth professions, so we ended up pulling that change in favor of just increasing revealed duration by 1 second.

Zerk gear is flat out amazing for any class. Wars have the heavy armor,utility, and high dps to make the most of it. While first time dungeons might be a little rough in for zerk, after you know the mechanics/encounters the most you’ll need is dodge food. Just watch the videos on utube, learn the encounters, and full zerk speed runs are the way to go for any dungeons.

1 more quick comment on zerging and guild size.
Do you think it will be easier to bring in an under rewarded/ranked playing into your 5 man team or your zerg ball? When this drops it might not encourage zerging but later zerging will be the only way a new character will be able to rank up while not getting wtfpwned by the higher ranks.

To think i thought the patch would bring players back to wvw. The fact these are NOT retro 7 months after launch is very bad, but a character bound reward system is just an insult this late. Developer neglect and lack of rewards drove many of us away from wvw to pve. In pve we were encouraged to create alts in order to not be attacked by the games harsh DR. Now in order to be on equal ground with opposing players i will be forced to play 1 character or risk falling to far behind in ranks to be effective. I can see it now…
ZZ tell you," can you log on your ele all of ours logged for the night and we need fire fields."
you tell ZZ, “no my ele is only rank 10 she will die to fast not enough points in bunker yet.”

Worse yet large wvw will require players to designate a “main” and they will only recruiting “x-class min rank-x.” The account bound part of this new reward/progress system is just bad and needs rethought A-Net. It punishes alt-aholics and is going to later create another obstacle to discourage new players from entering wvw at all. I am having a very hard time seeing what you are trying to accomplish with this new system.

Its both, its the “changes.” I dont mind either way to much, Its the switches that bother me. 2 recent switches to dragon loot, and the HUGE change to wvw rewards. Will dungeons be changed next to match? If so tell me now before I make another alt that just rots cause i cant share rewards or do anything more then once per Account. This game started very alt friendly and now its about to get a lot less.

There’s lots of character bound stuff.

Souldbound Gear.
Access to dungeons by level of character.
Fractal levels.

Just off the top of my head.

Soulbound gear is what only karma gear? (atleast that starts soulbound)
I mentioned access and they are not rewards imo, but i also think that flag should be account wide.
While fractal levels maybe char bound the rewards are shareable.

Can we please just go with 1. Most rewards are all account bound but you can earn the rewards on each character.The only real exception was daily and monthly. While those were once per account the Rewards could still be shared across your toons.
With the upcoming update not only do we get our ability to get rewarded for events on multiple characters nerfed (mega boss chest nerf,) but more importantly for the first time we are going to see a reward that is character bound (new wvw rewards.) I understand the issues that guesting alts at mega bosses has had, no one like JorLag. What i cannot comprehend is how after all this time you are destroying the account wide reward system you have up till now established.
So please lets go 1 way or the other, If i can get pve rewards on alts why not wvw ones? Why is it ok to do dungeons on alts for full rewards but not world bosses? If i can give my alt AR 30 why cant he do my FotM level? Full groups dressed in dungeon token gear yet none of them has access? How long till you will have to consult the wiki before logging in an alt to see if you can play it for credit or not.
Am i the only one frustrated with the upcoming nerfs to rewards/participation ability of multiple characters? I think altering your current system will only drive more away.

“If your not cheating your not trying.” Your doing what ever it takes to get the most accomplished in the amount of time you have. If designers want trash mobs cleared they need to give them real rewards – and make MF effect the drops, when trash groups drop a yellow or 2 each group it will make sense to find efficient ways to kill them rather then skip them. While this can cause problems with trash farming you can counter this by making it only the trash behind “gate” bosses. Another method is 2 part trash drops that would need to be combined with mob drops to be of real value (ie. boss drops necklace missing 3 jewels, 3 different groups of trash have a chance to drop 1 of the jewels, mystic forge and blamo.)
I never try to “cheat,” i only try to win. Designers of MMOs should know by now players will seek any method possible to beat the time/reward meta. They need to either add loot or put in hard counters (ie bosses that call for trash mobs to help,) to stop this natural result of players seeking to maximize their play time dungeons. Until they do you can blame players for playing the game in front of them.

Endurance? You know if you have at least 25% speed you can just walk out of all his circles. With 33% you make it out with minor lag and/or sloppy reaction time. Add in the evade skills each class has and bet you could do this whole fight w/o dodging at all if you were focused enough.
I think people panic when they see all the circles sometimes. Yes, it is a multiple hit 1 shot(ie. no Aegis easy mode,) but to compensate you are given plenty of time to counter, a predictable pattern, and now lower health pools. This fight is balanced and needs no mods. I see it as the counter part to Lupi in Arah.

with laurels it’s the same thing, you’re hoarding laurels in favor of getting a pink instead of other things, same thing for guild commendations.

No its like they added the laurel vendors with the just the first page

I think they definitely need wvw ascended items. but i think badges is the worst way to provide them. To do so punishes those who spent them on other things, while rewarding hoarders.

Its the t6 mats/moldy bags. Sure, now they are fixed i can get my blue or green but the t6 rare inside 1 moldy bag sells for 20+ times that blue or green. Vets/champs simple dont drop mats in an increased rate. You could replace that guaranteed blue or green with a guaranteed 1-5 moldy bags/mats and the majority of this issue goes away.
No one farms for blue and greens to slav/sell. We farm for Ectos/gold/mats/karma in about that order. Increase the t6 mat drops from Champs/vets not the blue/green drops.

All i like to do is wvw. I suck at Pve and i cant even farm Cursed shore w/o breaking my gear. How can i get my legendary just WvWing? Its not fair i have to farm dungeons and do world completion in pve worlds cause i dont want to do those things because im not very good at them.
Why do i have todo hard stuff just to get one of the rarest items in game? Please, can you just hand out legionaries at the log in screen? Cause some people are not good at any aspect of the game and they deserve them, too.

This^ JQ honestly has this match won. They just got the numbers game won. Their 24/7 is coverage crazy. Sure SoS and SoR can keep these zerg and zerg buster squads going at all hours during the weekend but only JQ can keep them going all week long. JQs guild list is just so long that if only 1-2 from each guild plays during their “off-peak” hours they can fields full zergs effortlessly with no coverage gaps. That is what wins Matches.

I see that you are on SOS. With this post saying JQ has this match won, does it mean you have given up on the fight already when it hasn’t been 3 days old yet? Or is it again those “mind games” posts? Player pretends to be on another server and posts trolling posts to put down other servers or brag about a server he/she is not on…

Sorry wasn’t pretending to be anywhere. Just saying JQ’s weekday coverage is such if you cant gain a huge lead and/or break their pug moral by Sunday i really don’t think they can be beat. I will never give up fighting, nor will most of sos, but i just know the enemy we are facing. If SoS or SoR can pull a win out of this match up it be very impressive. JQ’s mon-thur 24 hour coverage is hard to counter.
