Can we get an offical stance on PPT vrs Fights? Some players have gone as far as to call it a rules infraction to only play for fights and not be 100% focused on score.
Is it ok to enter WvW and only focus on fights avoiding playing for PPT?
Thread is about player v player fights and PPT. Not jumping puzzle v anything.
Just pointing out you cant really classify WvW as PvP in the sense that you try apply it to that rule.
To be fair. Someone asked to be shown a rule. Under the context of player v player, it seems applicable. It doesn’t specify structured pvp.
WvW =/= PvP. It is its own game mode. There are lots of ways to enjoy it. Some player might only do wvw for the Jumping Puzzles, never fighting player vrs player, or operating siege.
please make the birthday blaster for 2 years account wide so my alts can use it for lvling up.
it makes no sense that its soulbound considering you moved to making ascended / legendary account wide and all minis account wide + other stuff.I know its only +40 all stats 15% exp and 10% karma but its a perma buff that’s actually nice to have and saves u buying stupidly overpriced food that only really gives an extra +30 in 1 stat (PVE HERE PVE PVE PVE PVE)

Seeing a lot of comments here on the forums about how WvW is unplayable and the stability ruined everything. The only bad side ive seen about stability stacks so far is that it makes everything laggier because its extra numbers the server has to keep track of.
So far ive only seen that changes affect big pug blob fights. They are complete pirate ships now for the most part. I haven’t seen organized groups have much to any trouble with this at all actually. It requires more attentiveness for the melee on their stacks and their surrounding cc’s but thats about it.
This is probably one of the biggest changes that can really shake up the meta for WvW and people are already qqing about really silly things after 2 days. Give it time, watch the meta evolve, oh, and L2P.
So…now can u wipe out whole blob(60) with zerg(20)? U CAN’T. Why? Cos of massive cc and stabil spam – zergs and guilds can’t do a kitten to avoid it, and then they get flooded by 30 mt when they have 20 ppl( including mt and papers). And that is the point of ppl. I don’t give a kitten about zerg vs zegr cos u can have lot of strategies, but against blob…nothing work even stacking 25 stacks of stabil for leader. Also before patch u could wipe blob with zerg. So it isn;t about L2P like all u ppters say. It is about numbers, that is all.
Numbers? I disagree. My guild has been running a 3 man roaming comp that’s pretty OP. We’ve been wiping 10-15 ppl in 10-15 v 3 of us consistently. And we even wiped a zerg of 20 or so SoS with just 6 of us (5 guildies and 1 pug).
Here’s a vid. I’m the ele in it. And no, there were no up levels except for one. We’re just a serious fight guild that tpvps and duels a lot.
Fights like this are quite common for us. We enjoy it, even after the “stab” changes. We really don’t see that much of a difference. So yeah, it’s a l2p issue.
This is a joke right? Video shows you 3 man vrs 6-10 of the worst players ever. Both their play and WvW ranks show this must be one of the first times they have played wvw. There are almost no complaints of the stab changes in small settings like this but rather the complaints are when both sides has 20+.

The only ridiculous line of thinking is that of deluding yourself that PPT and “winning” at PPT is anything but a totally valueless exercise.
You have worked hard to miss the point so completely. The point was, are you part of the problem or part of the solution. If you refuse to play for PPT in a game designed to be won with PPT you only make it worse and therefore are part of the problem.
The point isn’t so much about winning than it is about showing respect to those that play the game as it’s intended to be. I personally don’t care a bit about the end result, and fights are what is more interesting, but I play to win even if it is mathematically impossible to win. It is a question of attitude.

Are you suggesting WvW is not a PvP mode? If your are arguing that it is, then that rule, by definition, applies. If your arguing that it is not, then your suggesting your against PvP fights.

If the Golf course said “Play your way” maybe you could play football there. Anet has said “play your way.” That includes playing for capture points or playing for fights. Sorry you don’t see it that way, but it is the way i play.

I don’t know about now because I received mine well over a year ago. At that time it was simply loot. Thanks for reminding me about the steel chests, I haven’t even seen one of those in 6-7 months alone lol.

its more likely T3 might actually be balanced out. DB losing a few guilds and mag gaining only leaves the need for one more sever to cement a stable t3 maybe SBI can hold there own with 2 balanced combatants even.
Agreed with you. If you just sit and do nothing, fights won’t come to you. As I said before, PPT is the magnet for the fights (as it stands for me). Once I get a fight, I won’t stop it to save a fully upgraded garrison or such.
The difference is that contrary to a PPTer, I will almost never use my time repairing objectives, building defensive siege, upgrading structures, I won’t run from a fight in order to save an objective and I won’t besiege a structure that is heavily defended. The fight is there and I’m enjoying it ; PPT is only something that happens while I’m looking for a fight.

Can we possibly get a replacement WvW specialist? the current one is MIA.
Last week I saw about 25 NightShift [NS] (who are top 3 gvg/fight guilds on NA) get completely demolished by about 50-60 HG. What would happen before the stab changes was that NS would completely steamroll HG due to their superior skill based play, players, builds, commanding, etc. I saw them get one pushed and demolished by HG due to the blow up of CC which is impossible to counter in smaller numbers. What Anet has done is encouraged mindless blob play instead of coordinated strategy amongst players. I found this to be extremely sad and a killer to the game in itself. The GvG scene is all but dead, since now the meta seems to be extreme CC with no frontline, making half the classes NOT EVEN WORTH PLAYING IN THIS GAME ANYMORE. As a result Ns, Syn and i believe Agg have quit the guild wars 2, making this a sad example of what happens when you mess with an already stable system. Losing these experienced guilds and players is a hardstrike on the WvW community. Anet please find it in your hearts to put the game back on track and set the stab changes to the way it was, encourage small man play to actually have a chance to beat superior numbers. Sincerely, all WvW players.
HG never fields that many and Johny never tags up anymore so highly doubt counting pugs they numbered more then 35. I’m sorry NS can’t adept to this terrible stability change and the meta it has created, maybe they were never really that good to begin with. I have been vocal about the fact i hate the stability change and think it was a bad idea, but that hasn’t stopped me and my guild from adapting to it.
Its not the melee deep GWEN of old. It is much harder to sustain engagements and easier to punish sloppy play and sloppy commanders. While the “glory” of face rushing blobs with melee trains is over, the era of great fights is not. This change will drive some long time WvW player away from the game. they will refuse to change thier old mind set and quit. In the end like in Nature its adapt or die.

I’m pretty sure inactive and even logged out players DON’T effect overall population of servers. At times full servers will have a “blackout” or have everyone log out for x amount of time in order to help wvw guilds transfer on to that server. If Anet counted logged out and inactive accounts i dont see how this would work at all.
Pirate ship was the old( pre-stability change) meta. We are now in the Static Gunslinger™ meta. Where you can picture each blob as old west gunslinger packing a six shooter of air tuned elementalist.

Fights need an objective. So indeed I get to earn my server points when I attack something or when I dunk someone
We need this magnet to attract fights.
-But as the OP said. Why do fight oriented players don’t leave their fights in the open to rush and defend what is theirs? It is because PPT is a secondary objective for them (for me atleast). While a PPT oriented player (from what I understood when they are angry because I’m fighting ennemies where there is no objectives) will often give it is all to defend and keep the upgraded structures. Once I get a fight. I don’t need to use the magnet that I call PPT (see here attacking an objective or defending an objective).
-As for the argument about Obsidian Sanctum. I can only tell that I don’t often fight there. The fights in the open are much more fun and diverse. The plays you can do with the line of sight (a good exemple is the small wall near the south sentry in a borderland) makes it so much more entertaining. OS offers no terrain variation. I prefer to take terrain into account when I play and take it to my advantage.
Why do you not take it to PvP where there is no risk of you taking a spot that a player who wants to participate in the game mode doesn’t get put in queue? Or any of the other adverse effects your play style may cause to others in the population?
Its not the same. Food buffs can have a significant effect on some builds and very little on others. I earned this ascended gear and i want to play with it not some amulet that doesn’t equal it and isnt offered in all stat combinations.
I notice lots of people against the change but only like 3-4 people who claim it was good. They attack others with L2P insults, telling them not to speak their opinion, and to wait for the meta to adapt. Maybe i am missing some of the other “pro” change posters, but i am sure am getting tired of the same voices championing it while attempting to suppress those who don’t like it.

Well revenant is counter for ranged meta so what are you whining? It’s revenant job cc these rangers who spam 1500 range.
rangers are only a menace to 2-3 people if they using piercing arrows.
revenants wont do much to change ranger impact, since it is pretty low due to not enough rangers playing properly to affect a zerg battle.
the “real” ranged damage comes from ele and to a degree necro.

Again.. you severely underestimate the damage potential of necros in zergbusting. You also apparently arent aware that the backline should not be running through the bulk of damage and CC, they are to keep to the sidelines of the fight spread out not facetanking with the melee.

Such Necro hate. Uh but lets get 1 thing clear Necro’s are kings of damage in WvW. Glass necro’s are the cannon’s of the Pirate ship meta.
In the end it just seems like they tried to make a map to get “more people” into wvw. A map for those who don’t like the current BL map and it style of game play. At the same time they force this map on the ones who do play in Alpine BL nightly and enjoy it.
I still think my comparison of Spvp losing Khylo in order to get Stronghold was accurate.
If you dont really enjoy WvW and want this new map I completely understand, it will definitely change things up, but at the cost of a play mode many of us have been enjoying since launch and play everyday. The cost is to high.
You never buy WVW armor… as it cannot be salvaged.. When the meta shifts you can only press destroy… I only buy siege and traps, and craft my own metal.
For those with limited play times and chose to use that time on WVW that isnt really an option.
Wvw Gear needs an unlimited version that can be used on only wvw gear maybe, or they could just let wvw gear be salvaged.
While Dungeon runners and Crafters can easily salvage their runes as they upgrade gear or change specs WvW players are forced to permanently lose runes by slotting them sans this item. Which is sad as because wvw has the most viable gear choices where as most pve players agree its Zerker or go home.
Im all cool with them adding new stuff but why remove old content. Its ripping a preferred game mode away from players.
Expansions should not kill off the game i bought.
How mad Would Spvp players be if to add their map they got rid of Battle of Khylo? Tell them they can go play in the other 2 conquest maps and maybe they will put Khylo back in later.

I wish i knew exactly too lol. I know its some of the rare recipes from dungeons made from tokens , but she work the market for anything she can make a buck on. She invest in things like rare skins and minis that i know of. By long term i mean multiple month sitting in banks until market volume drops and prices increase.

My PVE friend aims for 300-350g a day through Dungeons, Crafting , and long term market investments.
She is nuts and probably makes it 9/10 days. This month she will make more money then i will ever have in game, but i dont enjoy that style of game play myself.

Different CC should remove different number of stability charges. For instance, fear will remove 2 stability charges per 1 second of fear. Or if the poor servers or the inefficient netcode of arenanet couldn’t handle that kind of calculation when player numbers are scaled up, fear would remove a flat number of stability charges. Other CC would remove a stability charge depending on their “disabling/interrupting power”, such as pull only removing 1, etc.
Just NO. In fact id go the opposite, it needs limited further to equal out the zerg vrs small group battle. Stability stacks should be limited by a cool down to not be dropped on repeated CC. For instance you get hit by “Static Field” you lose 1 stack, you get hit by a second “Static Field” with in 5 seconds you don’t lose your stack, but if you get hit with a different CC you do. With out some kinda of limit the group with the most CC (the bigger blob/most players) wins out regardless of the skill of those players.
Uhm, anyone remember them banning/suspending people for buying “obviously” to cheap weapons off a vendor and Mystic Forging them. While they have backed down some, Anet has shown little tolerance to those who exploit. You can minimize its effect here all you want, but kill trading is an exploit.

Um, they did this like 3 years ago. Instead of factions it was “servers.” We chose, then they let people re-choose with xfers screwing the system up.
I bought this item with the knowledge everyone can see it, not just me. I would not have paid as much for it otherwise. To change it now would be robbing the ones who have it of value.

Hey Karl, what about skills like Line of Warding in PvP. If you cross it multiple times in a row, will you lose a Stability stack each time or will you be immune to the effect for a few seconds?
Good question! Each time you cross the threshold, an instance of Stability would be removed.
So 1 line of warding can remove stacks from unlimited amount of people? How is this balanced? This fix would be fine if Ground Targeted spells were limited to the 5 target limit, but they are Not. If 80 players cross 1 line of Warding it removes 80 stacks of stability.
There needs to be away so that the line of warding expires after removing a total number of stacks of stability instead of letting it continue to remove stack infinitely. I use Line of warding as an example but all other Ground Targetd CC’s need to be adjusted to have a Max # o f targets as well.
While reading a QQ thread about “bads” coming to arena with First person on, It dawned on me that one cool thing might be if everyone was playing first person.
I wonder:
Can we have a Custom Arena “Option” to Restrict everyone to First Person only?
I would never want to play like this all the time ,but i might be fun as something different.
