TL;DR? – I find crafting anti-fun and would love for them to be like the trinkets or some other way (I don’t care if it is twice as long and a waste of tons of gold) as long as I don’t have to sit in front of a station leveling up crafting.

Let me start off by saying I hate, HATE, HATE crafting in MMOs it bores me and feels like a chore that goes against the reason I play games (fun). I am also an avid WvWer, so I like having the best possible gear stat-wise.

Reading those first two sentences you can probably figure out my problem; in order to have the best stats I have to craft.

I get that I can get the mats from playing however I want, (I have stacks and stacks of the stuff in my bank.) but still in order to use them I have to throw away time and gold (Gold is not a huge factor , but it still sucks.) siting in front of a crafting station trying to remember what stupid combinations I have yet to use in discovery so I can bump up a meaningless number to 500.

In every MMO I have ever played I have happily endured running dungeons, grinding a PvP currency and raids to keep up in the arms race that is the gear treadmill, but not once have I ever had to craft or feel behind and that is how I feel right now. I know the gear is not required for anything, so let us not have this thread turn into a debate on the need for the new gear, and I am happy crafters have a goal with good rewards unlike some games.

All I want is an alternative way of getting the new tier of gear without having to level craft up to 500.

1000 dungeon tokens each for a piece of ascended? Great!
500 badges of honor and 50 gold for some gloves? Take my money!
250k karma for some pants? Done!
Rare drops from world bosses? You can find me waiting for Jormag.

If you feel like I do and hate crafting show some support! If you think I am nuts for hating crafting and think I should shut up and play, say so.
Just please I don’t want this thread turning into “Well, you don’t need the gear.” cause I know that.

While I agree with the 225 dolyaks, 225 sentries and 50 merc camps being a bit much, the rest are very doable through playing WvW over the past 7 weeks. So, instead of focusing on those ones with the insane numbers, knockout the JPs to get your 15/15 and call it good.

I’d say #2 is the better option cause #1 would just lead into “Not fair! Those guys had an easier match!” especially in our league (SoR having to fight BG/JQ vs TC fighting SoS/Mag.)

Is there any league that might have this happen? Because Gold NA barring divine intervention is already set.

What is with all the 2v1 threads today?

If you ask me I am glad people are finally starting to realize that they can 2v1 a stronger server.

My biggest concern is I don’t want to have to craft to 500. I am at 492 on my weapon smith and it has stayed there for the last 2 months and now the fact I am probably gonna have to do another profession to have armor has me dreading the day they release the new armor sets.

I am a WvWer, RPer and dungeon runner. I HATE crafting in games. Please, please please, Anet, Don’t make me feel forced to craft by making it a requirement to earn ascended armor. It goes against the play as you want mantra you yourselves made.

They even had discounted server transfers leading up to to the start of season one to help those who took heed, but instead most people did the opposite.

If it is true what you say and have been on BG since day one then that sucks that bandgwagoneers are forcing you to either leave or get no rewards, but fact is this was done on purpose in an attempt to unstack T1.

T1 = Top 3 ranked servers. (Gold)
T2 = Rank 4-6 (Gold)
T3 = Rank 7-9 (Silver AKA where you are.)

It would pull resources to make and I already have the PC version. So, I have no reason to want it to come to PS4.

Also the controller would need to sprout more buttons otherwise you will have some crazy finger gymnastics needed to be able to use all 10 abilities, move, interact with things ect.

Inviting more players to FA though may not be the best idea with the current population imbalances we have. It can be quite a frustrating experience to be rolled over by groups 3x your size and FA is currently a served dishing out some steamrolls in the current league setup. Other than that keep kicking some butt.

They are gonna need the extra man power cause the season is just about over and when it is finished they are gonna be back to fighting Mag, SoS, TC and even some T1 servers again.

It sucks but WvW is won and lost by your servers recruitment. So, if FA wants to advance they are gonna need the influx of manpower otherwise they will be stuck being champion of the JV teams and I doubt anyone really wants to be that guy.

Also for my own selfish reasons I’d love to see a new FA that can maybe make T2 interesting again after the league crap is all over. Being on TC, my server is stuck in what I call tier 1.5 where there is really no hope for a close match (Even though this week is showing we might be the third wheel in T1 now when this is over.).

I am on TC (the fourth ranked server in NA) and I have no problems with queue unless it is reset night and even then as long as I am not trying for EB I am in 10mins after queuing up.

Upping the limit on maps would just make WvW even more imbalanced and laggy which funny thing is, those are the two biggest complaints about the game mode.

You, like me, like to enjoy a full dungeon where you kill the mobs Anet has placed for us to kill and loath doing cheesy exploits like doing a unofficial mini jumping puzzle to avoid them.

We are what dungeon runners call casuals AKA we play for fun mostly and could careless how many runs we can squeeze into X amount of time. While others are in it for the rewards.

Just like how the hardcore players can’t change us; we can’t change them. So, do like I do and make your own groups in the LFG tool and be sure to include in the description “Do not apply if you expect skipping of mobs and a quick run.” and when the group is made be sure to repeat the same expectation (Those in-n-out dungeon runners hate reading text and might of missed it.).

Hope this helps you because removing jumping is never gonna happen.

The Toxic event in Kessex is completely blocking map completion for low level (i.e., zone-appropriate level!) characters because trying to swim in the toxic water near the tower to get the required map points under it (2 POI’s, a WP and a Vista) is impossible.

The thing is, it is not required to complete maps. I have had the game since head start and just yesterday I got the 75% map complete achievement.

Besides, the tower has been up for the last three weeks and will be destroyed (Most likely) on Tuesday. Tough it out and go hit up Snowden Drifts, Brisban Wildlands or Diessa Plateau while you wait for the tower to get cleaned up.

I’d buy this and extra emotes all day if they would make them.

When you hear things like “Meta-achievement” that means the big achievement that is based off the little ones.

When you hear meta when talking about WvW they mean the games (Or processes) people play in game.

Take for instance zerging; it is not a game mode in itself but can be concidered as a meta game. You must understand the finer points of it to be successful (IE; balling up, rallying, and combo fields).

The people who stack the servers did it cause they want to be in the top tiers and now that they are locked to that server for the season. Anet would need a crowbar and a protective suit to make them move cause they will be kicking and screaming if they tried, even if Anet decided they would pay them 800 gems to move down I am sure most would decline.

Fact is nothing is gonna change this season. The schedule, the queues and the achievement hunting PvEers (Which I have no problem with and welcome the new blood.) are here for the next seven weeks or until people get bored and move on.

If you want to stick it to Anet; Don’t log in.
That is really in the end all you can do. Right now the guys on Anet’s WvW are probably hi-fiving each other looking at the record numbers for WvW and the bean counters in accounting are nodding in approval seeing WvW items become more popular in the gem store.

I am on TC (The biggest T2 server) and nope, aside from EB I can get in a borderland in less than 15mins at 5pm server time AKA primetime. Those giant queues the OP is talking about are exclusive to T1.

Edit; Tips for those who are getting super long queues and not in T1: Queue for maps other than EB cause it is the most popular. Also if you are in queue for longer than your servermates, log out and log back in, go somewhere other than Lion’s Arch and re-queue. I have been in queue on reset nights for close to an hour before just to hear a guildie was able to get in a map in less than 10mins and followed this process and was able to get in 10mins later.

There’s a third group of players who think having an arbitrary timer is a lazy mechanics and would like it changed to something more meaningful within the context of the fight. Such as instant fail is 2 turrets are destroyed, a battery is taken out, dead players on the ground hits a certain level.

Just something that would cause TQ to have a victory over the attackers within the lore and story of the game. It’s supposed to be living story, not living timer..

We can just pretend it takes exactly 15mins for Teq to realize if he destroys the megalaser we are doomed.

That would suck for matches coming down to the wire, but luckily with alot of these match ups the winner was decided by Monday morning.

I don’t think they are. I still see camps and stuff going back and forth, so people are still in there playing. It’s just no one else can join them.

Is the system to join WvW bugged at the moment. On TC I can’t join any map.

Alot of guilds on Tarnished Coast have [RP] as their tag or [LFRP] to let others know they are in character. Also people walking instead of running is a huge “Hey, I am RPing!” sign.

Check out GW2RP.com it has tons of info on events and characters on both TC for NA and PS (Piken Square) for EU.

As far the OP, I don’t think they will make a new server. Us RPers have already made a home that we have lived in for a year now, so many would unlikely move, and changing the server designation would cause Anet alot of headaches.

I don’t know about the whole “It isn’t difficult to implement” argument since not only do NPCs have different lines for different races. You also have to consider cultural armors and personal story.

In AoC my most memorable fight was inside a public instance where my guild had 15 people hold off what seems like the entire server because we had a line of heavys at the front, assassins right behind them that would sneak through and stab people, rangers and casters right behind that shooting and lobbing spells over the front line and healers in the back healing.

And that was only because we could body block. If we tried that same thing in GW2 the zerg would’ve just ran through the heavys into the back line and wiped the squishies then turned around and wiped the rest.

9 months ago the idea of no culling was in the same realm as this idea “No, the servers would explode.” but today we have it (Yes, I know WvW is laggy).

So, instead of just simply saying “No, the servers would explode.” let’s pretend maybe one day WvW is so optimized that we could add this without burning the server room down.

Would you guys like this feature? I know I would.

Banono, it’s not an exaggeration. More than anything else, it’s why I quit WoW. Regardless of what I was doing, even sitting just watching the screen having a smoke, the requests would pop, and pop, and pop. A good evening gaming for me was only having to turn down 5-6 people. A bad one would be the same person (and his entire bloody clan) spamming, continuously, till I logged off.

Maybe I just had craptastic luck with Realm selection – but for most of 3 years, that was the pattern. Log in, start to do… well, anything, really, and know that soon enough, the spam was going to start.

I’ll admit, it’s given me a heavily biased view of the pro-dueling crowd, but they worked for it. The real world equivalent would be, the second I left my front door, some kid starts going “fight me bro, fight me! you scared bro!” and if I declined, him and all his buddies would follow me, going “fight him bro! you scared bro!” Until I went somewhere the kiddies weren’t allowed.

In game terms, GW and GW2 are where the kiddies aren’t allowed.

I have no reason to say you are lying, but wow… If I was in your shoes I would probably hate it too, but I can assure you that that is not the norm.

WoW has an add-on and most games have an in game auto decline feature that I think would be needed if they were to add dueling into the game. As well as Anet doing their part banning people who harass others.

So, while I can totally see why you would hate it. I hope you understand that there is a reason WoW’s community is synonyms for childish MMO behavior.

I came back to this thread to make a suggestion that I think would remove several of the problems people have with the side effects of the duel going on.

dueling would be sweet. But too many people in this game cant be bothered to interact with others and would prefer it to be a single player game under the veil of MMO.

All the arguments against dueling can be attributed to carebears, who’s roots can be traced back to that one time an undead rogue ganked them in STV and now they get PTSD flashbacks whenever confronted with any form of competition in an MMO.

It’s sad but it seems people would rather play with each other less and just spend money on a cash shop in order to also play the game less.

If THIS is the kind of stuff we’re getting when the pro-duelers are trying to put their best foot forward, then it’s clear they’ll be total kitten-sphincters should dueling ever go live. This isn’t the first such insult in the thread, either.

Change my vote to a very strong “NO” to the idea. If they’re not staying civil here when they need to make a good impression, there’s no hope they’ll behave when they’ve gotten what they wanted.

I’m flattered you think i’m a pro dueler. I would love to hear your suggestion that my incendiary post prevented you from providing for us. And i apologize for that one time in WoW someone sent a multiple duel requests even though it was obvious you didn’t want to duel. I know it was probably a harrowing experience.

For my personal experience, make it every single time I logged on, regardless of what I was doing, from when I first got the game, till 3 years later, when I just stopped playing Blizzard products entirely. We’re not talking one or two people, or one or two requests; we’re talking about literally dozens of whiners per hour, any hour of the day. Declining people politely would result in such a kitten-fest that it was almost comedic.

This has resulted in my mental image for duelists all universally being the angry german kid.

Basically, we’re talking about a feature that exists purely for people to grief others, either through victory, thus proving they have a bigger e-kitten than others, or through harassment.

So yeah, no.

Unless you were going around in the capital saying “I AM THE BEST AROUND! NONE OF YOU CAN EVER TAKE ME DOWN!” I doubt you would have the dozen of duel requests an hour as you claim. I am pretty sure the majority of people reading this thread has played a game with such a feature and has not even had close to the same experience you claim.

I am sure one or two people a day asking you for a duel might of happened, and out of those a few were kittenheads about it, but your exaggeration really takes away from the point you are trying to make.
