It sounds like you’re running the meta bunker build with damage equipment.
Renewed Focus doesn’t just lower the cool downs on your virtues, it recharges them completely. So, if you end up using it, pop them all! There’s no reason not to. The recharge happens at the end of the channel, so you can pop the virtues while you’re channeling RF.
If you’re running Altruistic Healing, you should get a staff. Your 4 is basically a second heal skill (or 4th when running the bunker build) and a half a might stack.
If you’re running shouts, run cleansing shouts. Run soldiers runes if you need more condition clear. Learn what condition changes to what boon, and how much healing you get from AH and dodging.
For WvW you may want to go Staff/Hammer. Your role as bunker (which is what it seems like you’re playing) is boons, support and battlefield control(through lines and rings)
If bunker isn’t your thing you may want to switch to a damage Guardian build.
Glad to hear it worked out for you! Have fun out there.
If you left before the wardrobe change, then it’s on the character you left it on. You need to talk to any Black Lion armorer and have him convert your town clothes. If this doesn’t work, you need to file a support ticket.
Mesmer has actually had a few buffs in the last couple patches. (Better confusion, mantra of pain hitting multiple targets). The Precursor seems like it’ll be fixed with the patch, but that still remains to be seen.
Living story season 2 is way better than anything they’ve done before.
I’d say, come back, give it a try. If you don’t like it now, check it out again around expansion time.
Honestly, I hadn’t even thought about axe. I wouldn’t mind getting axe for both hands, or even just primary.
TBH, I’d prefer an on-hand or an off-hand weapon to a two-handed weapon for the xpack.
So, with the new weapon introduction (hopefully). I have to say that personally, I am hoping for the introduction of Scepter/Focus for thief.
My reasoning for this:
- This could open up a lot of new possibilities with the on/off hand mechanics for Thief, while also adding a whole new skill bar.
- We already have a “Use Scepter” skill from steal.
-Thief could use a better/new medium range weapon. (or maybe even a 1200 range weapon)
If we don’t get Scepter/Focus, I’d like to see Mace/Shield, or Mace/Off-hand Sword instead to get the same kind of on/off hand mechanic.
With the update to Invigorating Precision, Theif survival is a little more viable. If you build healing signet and Invigorating Precision, you should be able to face tank most things in PvE as long as you’re dealing damage, especially if you take advantage of the plethora of blinds theif can throw. Though this is a more specific later game build.
I’m less experienced with engineer, but I know you can make it tanks and effective without having to worry about skill rotations too much, but you won’t be as effective as you can be if you don’t get all the skills down.
I tend to make most of my money through dungeons. You can spend the tokens you get to buy some exotic gear. You could also hop onto the Edge of the Mists train and farm up badges to spend on exotic gear. Dungeon stats can be a bit limited, but the equipment is salvagable. Gear from WvW badges can be almost any stat, but don’t come with runes and aren’t salvagable.
Feel free to add me, I wouldn’t mind mentoring some of the dungeon paths sometime.
So, as far as leveling goes you may want to go with power. But honestly, don’t drop money on leveling gear. Pick up the item that drops for you that is closest to your level with the best rarity. Gear gets outdated way too fast to end up spending money on it before you hit level cap.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I plan to stockpile some gold, Tomes of Knowledge, and Skillpoint Scrolls so I don’t have to go through the leveling system with the new profession. I may end up playing the new content through with the new profession.
Not anymore, any skins you had are now part of your account wardrobe.
Dungeons and the occasional flipping items on the trading post is how I tend to get my money.
If you’re having trouble getting an objective wait until your server is a different color. Your map will change (and the objectives you’re likely to be holding) depending on what color you are.
There is some talk about Season 1 story coming back with the new template, but nothing official so far.
Absolutely, there are red rings to watch for as well as most big damaging enemy skills coming with long wind-up. Some of the newer stuff comes with more obvious orange patches that appear on the ground.
Sounds like you might want to try sword/pistol theif.
Those things are very rare. Honestly I don’t have the answer for you. This might be something you need to file a support ticket to get the answer for.
It’s on sale for direct purchase, why isn’t it on sale in the gem store?
I would like to see a Megalazer be added to WvW. That or some sort of smaller siege laser variant. I think lasering down a wall or door would be awesome from the attacking side and terrifying on the defending side.
Alright, here’s my two bits: Vigor is an interesting condition that adds depth to combat and makes some builds possible. It also has a few very good counters: weakness, torment and boon removal/stealing. This can limit dodging and even punish people for moving around.
TLDR: The boon doesn’t need to be removed when it is so easy to design against.
I tend to play a largely support role in large group combat. I have a lot of non-damaging skills and in many group fights I don’t do enough damage to mobs to get loot or xp since I spend a majority of my time keeping and bringing people up. I would like to see some sort of system to allow people with my play style to get a share of the loot equivalent to that of people simply spamming AOE’s the entire fight.
I am a Quaggan fan, as well as many people I know, and these are the things I would like to see:
A Quaggan plushie, for buying outside the game.
A Quaggan mini (that’s not corrupted) in the game.
Perhaps the “Ghost” or “Pirate” making their return as a mini.
