Hey! Welcome back! If you’re thinking about starting up a new crafting class, I would advise you not to overwrite an existing one. Each of your characters can have 2 different crafting skills. Other characters’ crafting level is not limited by their character level so feel free to start or get on an alt and level another craft if you need/want it.
I’m betting on a destroyed Rata Sum for April 1st (as the prank) and SAB on the second.
Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look into it.
While I appreciate the options a p2p trading system would give in theory, I do not want it. I think it would result in a major rise in map spam in the form of “WTB/WTS X thing” cutting down on player interaction outside buying and selling things.
So, I’m starting to have some issues with the massive amounts of clicking I do in my normal gameplay. I have no desire to alter the gameplay itself however. What I want to do it bind Shift + Scroll Wheel (up or down) to be interpreted as Left Mouse button, but I don’t know how to go about doing that.
How can I go about setting this up?
Months ago a friend of mine was hacked. He lost everything. his work requires him to move from one site to another , but he can play with a laptop by the hotels . His account was not rolled back because " he logged from too many locations ". He now play occasionally and has almost abandoned the game.
That is terrifying, and probably going to be the death of me logging into the forums from my mobile.
If you’re going to be doing this, you need to also limit it on an item value basis or this change is not going to have any large effect other than restricting players that are playing within the rules. It will cause hell in the markets as RMT simply switches to using items over gold and stays ahead of the restrictions.
This change is annoying for me since I play a lot with my Fiance, and we share tons of resources and transfer gold to each other constantly. This restriction will slow down the progress we will make to some of our goals and require additional planning related to the restriction rather than freely playing the game and sharing resources.
On another note I may just invest into ectos and ride this change to riches.
Your party should be helping you. You provide a permanent fire field, if they can’t be bothered to blast it, they’re the problem.
Ungrateful kittens should be glad you’re bringing one of the max dps builds in the game.
Brett, I think you have a misconception. The rewards are based on participating in things on the map. Not completion.
Going back into open world and experiencing 80% of the game again because it no longer feels like a waste of time? No thanks, I’ll stick to my boring routine. I can’t handle change and think it’s a bad thing that you’re excited about it.
I’m just glad I never spent money on an infinite continue coin. I do hope that they bring it back soon. I never got to play it much.
Strength, it sells for more on the trading post. I don’t really like either of these runes on Thief.
I prefer Rock Dog or Scholar depending on game type for the damage bonus.
Edit: What is the purpose of your question? Maybe we can help you with rune or build choices.
Man, I just got my mesmer a set of those too.
Pvt is another way of saying soldier’s gear (primary stat power, secondary Vitality toughness) if your armor chests are Glorious, Ascalon Catacombs, Sorrow’s Embrace, or Honor of the Waves, then you can get PVT gear from them. Other than that, you can buy soldier’s Draconic armor off the trading post, buy the insignias and craft the pieces, get it with karma or badges of Honor.

I’m not sure about the actual history, but Elementalist is in a great place right now. We have a place in every game mode as a top tier profession. There are a few things that still are lackluster, like our elite skills, but overall, Elementalist is in a good place.
Crafting doesn’t really become useful for keeping up with the gear curve until you hit level 80, unfortunately, and it can be a good way for a new player to attain their first set of exotic gear.
Crafting is also a good way to level, and offers a decent amount of utility in the form of consumables, inventory management, and in some cases profit. You can also do it to complete the related achievements, and eventually get ascended gear.
Crafting, however is in no way necessary to gameplay.
Oh, you can also make rare gear at the upper ends of the tier of crafting you are on that will remain usable for a number of levels to come. However, it’s usually just easier to use the drops you get along the way and not worry about gear until you hit 80.
Focus provides the same number of blasts as offhand dagger, they’re just spread out over more attunements. Offhand dagger can provide an easier to use fire field for someone just learning to blast might with scepter. However offhand dagger does not have the defensive utility that focus has (but dagger does have a good amount of mobility). Focus can provide a wide area projectile block, as well as a personal reflect and invulnerability. Mobility is usually not widely needed in dungeons, so offhand dagger is not an optimal choice.
Scepter vs main hand dagger:
Scepter is a highly single target weapon, but it has an extra blast and some utility in the form of self condition removal that comes with vigor, and a buff to toughness that can be kept up permanently.
Main hand Dagger is an excellent weapon for cleaving (lightning whip) and does not rely on lightning hammer for its damage. It is a more optimal choice for extended fights when you cannot rely on the second lightning hammer to be left untouched.
If you really want to squeeze all the might you can out of your prestack, swap out Focus/Off Hand dagger for the other one before a fight to get 1-2 extra blasts in earth, then quickly swap back before engaging.
I personally enjoy Dagger/Focus for pug runs, since I don’t want to rely on a Lightning Hammer that may or may not be there when I need it.
Every weapon has a place in dungeons. The big key is learning when to use them.
If you are the only Elementalist, I recommend going S/F or D/F. If pugs are picking up your lightning hammer as S/F switch to D/F. The cleave from lightning hammer is a huge part of your dps and if you lack it, you’ll need to replace it with lightning whip.
If there are two Elementalist, then it is optimal for one to run staff and one to run S/F with lightning hammer. Staff provides a permanent fire field and S/F blasts constantly with the lightning hammer auto attack.

Don’t be afraid to modify this build if you need more survival. Swapping out arcane wave or the signet for arcane shield will lower dps slightly, but the dps gain by not going down is greater.
April Fool's Day: Expecting HoT Trick?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I’m betting it has something to do with this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Paper-Bag_Helm_4-Pack
They’re looking for their auto attack chain to continue, indicating a hit. It’s a more advanced strategy and a great way to add counter play to the tactic. I’ll do it all the time against a thief.
To make it harder to find you, try using your downed Teleport to get around a corner or somewhere out of the way.
Bows appear in the right orientation, they just preview in the wrong hand.
Heck, even 4% might be a high estimate. Who knows if all the dyes drop at an equal rate?
AC and CM are the first dungeons. You dont need a merch while doing them. Especially as CM has one right outside the gate. The problem is after that.
You could go, out of order maybe? There’s nothing that says you have to go in level order.
Just find merchants off to the side for dungeons when you’ve got a time gated beginning like AC or CM. If you’re not the one opening, just port to a waypoint with a merchant and sell/buy real quick. The time difference is negligible.
Judging by the previous thread I saw you start, these are leveling reward items. I believe that this is a piece or two of gear meant to make your life a little easier as a new level 80. If you want that specific weapon set, it comes from either the Crucible of Eternity dungeon or pvp track.
However, the weapon itself is a Berserker statted level 80 exotic. Those you can find in a number of places, the most readily available being the trading post. After that, there is the Citadel of Flame, Crucible of Eternity, and Ruined City of Arah dungeon paths or reward tracks. You can also get these weapons and armor with karma or badges of Honor.
There are plenty of ways to get equipment aside from crafting. Here is a good source for information on acquiring gear.

Level 80 exotic items are end game. The stat line may or may not be what you end up wanting though.
Play what you want.
I actually used to main Guardian myself. I put in 2k hours on it and barely played anything else. One schism in my wvw guild later I end up playing PvE more than anything and discover Elementalist. I end up discovering what real dps is like and get hooked.
I haven’t really had any problems with having alts. Since switching over, I find myself less and less with a “main” I have become primarily a dungeon player, and have all but ranger and necro dungeon ready. I have found that there are some places I prefer one profession and some places I prefer another. I also have found that because of this, I am enjoying the game more and I have a better understanding of how party dynamics should work.
I say embrace the change. You’re not missing out on anything if you’re not playing your Guardian.
Some of those items have been coming back already. We may see them again soon.
Before a fight, how viable/useful is it to slot med kit temporarily to place bandages on the ground for a little extra healing and/or condi removal?
You misread the trait. It increases burning duration by 33% it doesn’t add 3 seconds. Try looking at the tool tip with and without the trait.
Try repairing your game client :
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client
If that doesn’t work, I suggest reinstalling and/or contacting support.
Maybe get someone to take a screenshot for you then?
You can get it to a lesser extent from the character select screen.
I would recommend starting as a guardian. Guardian can provide excellent support in the form of party wide active defenses while maintaining high dps. The trinity that you’re used to isn’t present in Guild Wars 2. Most people are their own healers (we actually have our own dedicated healing skill slot). Though some friendly healing can help a party survive.
Elementalist is also capable of support, but it is mostly in ensuring the party’s damage stays high (as far as a dungeon environment goes). They can also spec for healing/debuffing, but they tend to sacrifice DPS when they do this.
Kinda yea, unless you want to go around farming Quartz crystals and you get lucky, it’ll take you 30 days to make a set, since you need to turn 25 Quartz Crystals into Charged quartz crystals at a rate of one per day. That, and the Charged Quartz is account bound for some reason.
My biggest suggestion is try out the build in sPvP and see how you like it. It’s not the greatest way to tell if it’ll be good in a zerg, but you can get a decent comparison without investing all the time/money into making a new gear set.
Guild housing is coming. You can have a one person guild. Housing is coming!
Celestial is a set that has every stat.
Current D/D Ele Roaming meta:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Elementalist_-_D/D_Roamer
Celestial armor:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Celestial_Intricate_Gossamer_Insignia
The amulet is referring to a sPvP amulet, and has little bearing on your PvE/WvW gear.
This all being said, you can probably do just fine in the gear you have.
Hello and welcome to the game!
Transmutation charges are frequently dropped from personal story, map completion, and pvp reward tracks.
PvP might be something you end up enjoying, but if you don’t have a good grounding in the combat system you may find yourself becoming frustrated.
PvP is also a great place to try out different builds and get a feel for the kind of play style you want to aim for. I highly recommend using it before you make an investment into gear.
Here is a link with the current optimized builds for a majority of the content:

Here is a link to information on the rewards you can get from pvp:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Reward_Tracks#Reward_Tracks
These tips have been in relation to structured pvp, not wvw. I recommend waiting until you hit 80 before trying wvw, since level 80’s will have a significant stat advantage over you. Structured pvp is balanced so that level does not matter.
The effective power in the latter case is higher, but only by about 3% with no might or fury
This is assuming, of course that the dps recipient is something that can be critically hit.
Case 1 ep : 4200
Case 2 ep: 4329
If we take full might and fury into account:
Case 1 ep : 5850
Case 2 ep: 6214
Case 2’s is higher by about 6%
They nerfed that a few months back. It’s mostly used for pvp mobility now. Most people are using the elite glyph now for PvE
The current meta Guardian is actually incredibly supportive without sacrificing dps. You’re bringing tons of damage mitigation in the form of blinds and projectile blocks/reflection. You also give out a good number of other buffs such as Aegis, protection, and might. You can’t take as many hits though with the meta build, so you have to rely more on your active defenses such as shelter, blind, Aegis or renewed focus.
Tl;dr: meta build is supportive, try it out.
I gotta agree with Miku here. It’s nice to get the ascended drop, but at the same time that might not be the stats you wanted. You probably want to use it for the skin, then either save it for some build someday when you might want cleric stats, or vendor it for that 1g.
I try to answer most questions I see. However, for complicated topics like “how do I get Mawdrey?” I usually tell them it’s a complicated process and direct them to the wiki.
I had this issue until I started playing on windowed fullscreen.
You may want to get a left handed keypad with a thumbstick and a mouse with 3-12 buttons this can move some of the stream from your left finger to all your other fingers as well as retaining some of the customizability you can’t get with a xbox controller.
Interestingly, this is comparable to having the protection boon on you at all times. Or in other words, to a berserker protection is worth something like 1000 toughness. (To someone in toughness-primary gear, it’s worth more like 1400)
This actually isn’t quite true. Protection reduces incoming damage by 33%. It doesn’t boost toughness. This makes protection a higher value boon for zerkers as they inherently take more incoming damage. That being said, the rest of your post looks good.
My suggestion, if you’re having issues surviving in a zerker group, consider grabbing some pieces with Vitality or healing power (former if you die to spike, latter if you die to sustained damage). Do not go for toughness, it will frequently make you take a higher spot on the aggro tables gw2 has. Good pieces for this are Zealot and Valkyrie pieces as they will have minimal impact on zerker dps.
That being said, boons and active defenses are better for survival than any non-major stat change you can make. This leads me to: a few Guardian specific suggestions:
Ensure you are properly using blinds. Guardians have a large number of good sources of blinds.
Try out hammer. The auto attack can provide permanent protection uptime. If you or your group has problems using active defenses, this can be a great help.
Understand when to use your virtues and renewed focus. These can drastically change a fight. Blowing them all when you hit low health isn’t a very good tactic.
