Partially to display the viability of an alternate style of play, partially to show off.
Hey all, here’s a video I shot of my normal dungeoning group earlier today.
We’ve got a slightly different take on dungeon runs. We like to run 4 Berserker players and 1 Full Healer Guardian. Please note: this video was taken candidly (the other members did not know I was recording) and we were not using voice communications of any kind.
Thanks for reading and watching!
Edit: Fixed title

Hi all, to give everyone a feel for how runs go with the group, here is a video of a casual CM P2 run we did earlier today. This was a candid run (I didn’t tell the other members I was recording), and we were not using any sort of voice communication program.)
In case people don’t know, the golden pig on the Gem Store is an obvious nod to the Pike Place Market Piggy Bank in Seattle where ANet is based. I personally would have preferred a gem store mini doughnut machine that is located right next to the pig, but oh well.
Mini doughnut machine, eh? What better way to build strength, endurance, and a sugar high for encounters with world boses!
~quietly flags post for review of gem store team~
Ok, ok, I jest!
inb4 Donut-O-Tron makes an appearance.
Man, I didn’t figure it out in time. Oh well. On with the next one!
If you go to your hero menu, under th first tab where your equipment is, there are a number of sub tabs. One of these is “miniature” you can select what mini is displayed for your character and you don’t have to equip it each time you zone, it’s just alway out unless you go back to your miniature tab and hide it.
I would be surprised if there wasn’t a pet that gets taunt, a utility to make your pet taunt, and/or a trait that triggers taunt from your pet when you are cc’d.
As far as I know Ranger pets only ever die in CoF 1 during the trap run, everything else is a sort of downed state.
Rallying off pets would be ridiculously broken and leave Rangers with no place in a wvw zerg. There is already a good mechanic in place that punishes a ranger for letting their pet’s health bar hit 0. There doesn’t need to be anything more.
It sounds like you’ve got a good bit of playtime in. You may want to go through your collection tab and see if there is anything worth parting with. You may have a good bit of Gold in assets.
- You didn’t mention the Silverwastes farm. Have you done that?
-You can get a bunch of maize balm and go kill some ambient creatures for ToT bags. It’s not particularly efficient and it gets old quick, but it is something.
-You could get a part time job. Jobs tend to be more gold per hour than anything in game.
-You could port jumping puzzles and hope for tips.
-You can run around maps gathering. I used to do this before I learned of more lucrative ways to farm. It can be nice to go back and see some of these zones too. The game really is quite beautiful, and it’s easy to forget when you’re stuck in Farm mode.
If it’s on you, then just hide the back piece. If it’s on other people, use the basic character models.
3v2 fight on Sky hammer, off point near c (it was ours):
Burst opener on one warrior. Got hit by bull’s rush by second warrior. He begins 100b. Shadow step out. Withdraw into jump pad, swap to Shortbow. Bouncy shenanigans ensue. Their third (mesmer) and friendly warrior go off to c, leaving me with the two warriors. I end up downing one of them and using SR to secure the stomp while the other tried to revive. Friendly skyhammer blast downs the other warrior.
I’m still in stealth, just finished my first stomp. Stomp second warrior. Appreciate the two Quaggan finishers for a second.
See half health mesmer slowly backing out of c… Backstab, apply third finisher.
That whole match was an action packed display of dead warriors, back captures, narrow escapes, and IA shenanigans.
I’m not entirely sure what the point of the video is. What are you trying to accomplish with it? It looks like an ele’s point of view in an unorganized zerg.
Stuff I noticed:
-Good use of lightning flash to los while channeling Meteor.
-Healing was done underwater, where you had heal signet slotted over glyph. (intended?) It might seem like a good idea to get away from the fight to get some healing , but it can be extremely dangerous. I know if I saw you doing that on my Thief, I’d focus you pretty hard.
-No swapping to earth before water or fire. Missing out on extra healing or might from blast finisher.
-Placing chill field down on allies (why?)
-Placing fields down anticipating an enemy push that never came. (which can be a good tactic to discourage a push)
-Nice use of shock field to trap enemies bombing ballista.
Not bad ele play. Practice a bit more and you could get really good. Maybe start looking for a wvw guild to run with?
If you think the extra % outgoing healing is worthless (it isn’t at all imo, it’s the best way to scale healing), then why are you using Aquatic Benevolence and Rice Balls? >_>;
Compared with I already have, the extra 10% add very little extra healing, so little that you won’t even notice. The diference is 35% to 45%, that is so little. Also the might and fury AoE are more useful. I used a strong word to “less useful” :P
I’m not sure about that. If healing power percentages work like damage percentages do, it’s not additive ex: 10%+10%=20%
It’s more like:
Base heal*1.1*1.1 = 121% Base heal
Or a step further
Base heal with 4 +10% modifiers = 146.4% Base heal
This second one makes a huge difference if you’re stacking +%‘s and makes monk runes a great buy for a healing build. I’m reasonably sure it works this way, but I haven’t found anything to confirm it.
I am sorry if my answer came off as a dungeon centric standalone viewpoint. I believed that op’s original question had been answered by the previous poster and I was trying to offer additional insight. Much of Guild Wars is supposed to be handled by groups. Ideally groups will be providing buffs, including fury.
If maximizing dps is your goal. 100% critical chance is not the way to go. There are certain points at which Power or Ferocity becomes a better purchase for a power based build than critical chance. I can’t speak as much to a condition build, but I imagine critical condi procs are not as lasting as most conditions produced by skills.
There are also at least 2 professions that come to mind that can easily grant themselves permanent fury. Elementalist with the persisting flames trait, and any warrior wielding a greatsword.
Again, I apologize if my previous post came off as narrow minded and dungeon-centric.

Let’s just make a rifle skin for the Shortbow and call it a day on this.
I’d much rather have a new on and/or off hand weapon.
Fair enough. If you’re having trouble with surviving try adding 1-3 points into water. The healing can be a great help.
Try using the ether renewal heal skill. If you frequently find this getting interrupted try covering it with armor of earth or your earth invulnerable skill or switch to heal signet.
You may also want to add 2 points into air for Zephyr’s focus for some additional endurance for more dodging.
Fight things that are lower level than you. I know they rebalanced mobs for the new trait system, but playing a character under level 80 just feels like you’re made of glass and walking around with pool noodles for weapons.
Make sure you’re keeping up on gear. Equip drops that are closest to your level. Falling behind on gear will see you falling behind on survival and dps.
Learn when to use your invulnerable and reflect skills in earth as well as your projectile block in air.
If you’re not already stacking might, you really need to do this.
How about having 1 attunement and 4 weapon slots? I know there are some people out there who would love to go full Pyromancer, Aquamancer, ect.
If nothing else, trait tabs should be a mastery. (Assuming they don’t just add it for everyone.)
Thanks for the info guys!
If I’m more comfortable with a profession on any given map, does switching characters allow me to return to the same match provided it hasn’t started yet? I haven’t tried it because I’d hate for a team to be 4 manned because I wanted to experiment.
Imo, the absolute most critical chance you want to hit is 80%. Any good party will give 100% fury uptime, making the last 20% critical chance worth of precision wasted stats.
Engineer went through a similar phase with turrets. They actually set turrets to automatically explode at 5mins because people were using them to afk farm. If I remember correctly they said that it was a grey area at the time. I don’t know if they’ve updated the policy or not.
The thread isn’t dead. It can just take some time for people to find your spot. Some of the difficult ones have taken more than a day.
Edit: changed hard to difficult because kittens.
I agree with Gorani. The problem is not the amulet or the profession, Anet already hit might with the nerf bat. I’m betting it was to see the difference in the might damage pre and post nerf. I’m expecting a more evenhanded nerf that will leave Cele a place in pvp still.
Clearly the ele specialisation will be the sandwichmancer. It’s new weapon will be the torch, with various elemental sandwich preparation techniques.
Torch Torch confirmed!
Celestial Sandwich is new meta!
I just threw together this build. Haven’t gotten a chance to test it yet though. I expect it won’t be super optimal, but it should be fun.

The new crafting backpacks are better stats once you slot a gem than other exotics despite being lower level. That said ascended is even better, but it is a way bigger commitment.
+1 for these guys. Runs are quick and smooth, and the people are friendly and skilled.
It’s not glass though. I picked up Valk amulet to give it some sustain. This is more of a brawler build with some extreme spike.
How and why would you adjust the traits?
Hey guys, I threw this build together a little while ago, and I’m quite enjoying it. Do you guys have any thoughts/suggestions regarding it?
Thanks
Posting like this since I can’t figure out how to do the two image thing.
Edit: figured we’d go back to an old favorite.
In the interest of this game continuing I’m gonna vote skip. Can’t for the life of me find it.
I’ve heard of someone opening 10k gifts and not getting one. You may want to wait until the pvp track (hopefully) rolls around again, or ANet (hopefully) releases another way to get an exotic breather.
No, it’s not a bug. That merchant is offering Human-Only skins.
I hear Queen Jennah is contemplating officially renaming “The Searing” to “The Warming” for PR reasons.
I know that style is Nightmare Court architecture, but I can’t seem to find it.
One would think that after two years aned will make an ‘open all’ button somewhere in the UI..
This! This forever! It seems like such a small thing for a big QoL improvement.
Any support a warrior does is typically in the form of boosting dps for the group. Stay in zerker. I’d recommend having a gs even if you tend to use aa more. Forceful greatsword is amazing.
Are you guys NA? I wouldn’t mind some relaxed runs now and then.
Wish there was a way to make these for my Mesmer
Centaur Runes and healing mantra is perma-swiftness.
Meteor is canceled when you move, and starting some other skills mid channel can cancel the first one. Also, are you pressing escape or your stow weapon button accidentally? These could all be cancelling your skill.
It could also be thief’s pistol 4, that daze is so brief, it’s easy to miss.
If you’re looking for a more acrobatic thief, try a Sword/Dagger thief with the following build or some variant:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Thief_-_Sword/Dagger
I yell “save the player!” and run off towards downed people if I see them in exploration.
If I join a low skill party, I will adjust my traits and weapons to compensate while judging them silently for making me dps less.
I once kicked someone at the last boss in HotW 1 for saying “omg stack wtf” constantly during the run when we were doing that the whole time.
I have 8 80’s and would never delete any of them because birthdays and my hatred for the NPE.
I’m gonna be one of those “Tomed up Revenants” come Hot launch. Though I’ll be rocking exotics, not masterwork gear.
I want to love Ranger, Necro and Engi, but I can’t seem to. I do love the other professions though.
I mainly PvE, even though I like PvP better; because the rewards are better in PvE.
+1 for this. Seriously, that dinging is everywhere.
Yea, the more I look at what they’ve shown so far, the more Revenant looks like a sPvP/tPvP class. Condi focused, good might and fury options, might generation. Sounds like another Celestial meta build inc.
I do hope there’s going to be good power and support options coming too. I’d hate to see Revenant blow kittens in PvE.
If mace main hand stays the same there’s no way it won’t be meta.
A permanent fire field, and a single skill that does 3 blast finishers with an 8s CD in the same weapon? Insane.
Edit: Yea, I was talking about the dungeon meta, and I do hope we see the rise of some new gear sets. I’d love to see Condi be useful in places. My poor Necro has nothing to do with himself but bake pie.
