My main is in frostgorge, and I can’t connect to her because of this. This is ludicrous.
Gee guys. Reapers kill things. Don’t we all kill things? Aren’t we all reapers? I’m confused!
I got a chest, and I was in the beta. I also got a portal key.
I don’t think it’s supposed to go out instantly. It’ll go out after the event’s done, and they figure out the date, I assume.
true, but at least they’re not getting turned into mats for the mystic forge.
I see people talking about them, the same way they talk about skill points, as if they’re going away. I can’t find anything about this, and would like confirmation. Thank you.

Gaile, in the post above the last one in that thread, it contains a link to a phising website. You might want to get rid of that. I know it’s non-clickable, but it still might be a good idea.

Maybe put the warning at the top of the message, rather than the bottom, Gaile? It can be easy to miss if you go into a blind panic. I got one of those messages, and I was scared for a few seconds before I realized it was fake.
Don’t dungeon reward tracts give salvageable exotics?
SO this begs the question then with regards to Chris post:
Are the PVP custom servers dedicated to PVP dailies against the rules? Where one side intentionally lets the other win then next match the losing team will win for dailies. Chris please respond as soon as possible? If this is illegal I’d like to advise my guild as such.
I dunno why’d they care about custom servers. It’s your server, you can do what you like. It doesn’t affect their MMR, everyone knows what’s up when they join, and it serves a purpose in keeping people who just want dailies out of ranked fights.
How about this: Make the new BL map the EBG map, and make the old EBG map the new BL map.

I think the wyvern’s going to become the new sand giant: a huge spectacle that people do once or twice, and then decide that the rewards aren’t worth the time it takes to kill it.

People can only judge on what they have now. Anet wants feedback on what we see. We can’t give feedback on stuff that’s going to happen in the future, only on what’s available now.
Its still being presumptuous for a demo build when things are tweaked just for a demo build versus what we will get.
If anet didn’t want us to talk about stuff in the beta, then they shouldn’t’ve shown it to us. They did, and encouraged us to share our thoughts. I think it’s fair game to talk about the beta, and the revenant as they are now.
Yes, but you’re missing the point and what the OP is saying so I’m not going waste anymore of my time talking to you, Have a nice day, I know I will!
I got your point, I was arguing why I thought it was wrong.

You still have to get to level 500 in crafting. Also, ONE stat set isn’t good for every profession, so the fact that you can buy sinister stats doesn’t mean ascended crafting is “I bought this”.
No Fractal Leaderboard, which was the supposed reason to reset everyone to 30.
I still don’t understand what happened there. Why announce something and not even go through with it… They even said they had all the data, why not post it? And there wasn’t a huge uproar on the forums over it or anything either. I’m still peeved about that.
Because the fractal leaderboard was a massively bad idea. Who cares who finishes a particular fractal first? Plus, that’s kind of useless. Once it’s done, the leaderboard’s finished. There’s no way you can do better than being first, so it’s pointless. Who finishes fastest? Does it include the group who gets swamp, ice elemental, thaumanova, and molten, or the group that gets harpy jumper, Cliffside, dredge, and mai trin?
This is, by far, the best thing about this patch.
Actually, I think a pvp style vote system would be ideal. It preserves randomness while adding a bit of player interaction into the map choosing process.
What if instabilities were still a thing, but they stacked based on what level you were on. So for instance, L31’s instability was active when you do L31, and L31 and L32’s instability were active when you do L32. So you couldn’t avoid instabilities by doing higher level fractals within a tier. Once you hit the next tier, the list of instabilities reset and you had the next tier’s instabilities. This would at least prevent people from skipping instabilities, and would also avoid the situation where L40 is easier than L39.
As for Eco’s question, I think the only way to make rolling swamp not a thing would be to intentionally slow it down. The problem with just making the other ones more rewarding is that people will naturally gravitate towards rolling for the first fractal that is most rewarding for its average time investment. To actually solve the problem of rolling altogether, the average time spent on each first-tier fractal has to be virtually the same.
This is a great discussion so far! Thanks for all the insight into your thoughts everyone!
I don’t see how level 40, with 1 instability, is harder than 39 with 9 instabilities. To be honest, stacking instabilities is a terrible idea. I still think my idea, random instabilities as gambits is the best way to prevent people from avoiding them. I also don’t know why people care about how others play their fractals. What’s the difference if people roll swamp?
If we make instabilities into gambits, they need to be randomized, and cost relics. Random because if they aren’t, some will simply never be used (and adding new ones would be pointless), and cost relics, because it prevents people from doing too many rerolls to get the instabilities they want.
Random is a cheap way of forcing people to do things. If they properly scaled rewards people would do what is rewarding to mix it up. A scaling reward system would do just that. The more something is done the less rewarding it is, the less done the more rewarding. Simply use their metrics in a function to adjust the rewards on a daily basis, if one instability were done 100 times the day before and another 0 times then the 100times one would drop down to the minimum reward while the other raises to the max.
How would people know what gives the best reward? There are, of course, easy and hard instabilities. Presumably, the easy ones will be done more than the kittenes, but eventually, people will choose the instabilities that give them the best reward versus effort. If one instability gives you, let’s say, 5 gold, but makes running the fractal take twice as long as one that gives 2.5 gold, isn’t the one that gives you 2.5 gold the exact same risk vs reward? Now, let’s say it gives 5 gold, but the one that takes half as long gives 1 gold. Some people will do the one that gives 5 gold, but I think it depends on how long the fractal takes to run in the first place. If it’s a difference of, say, 30 minutes versus and hour, I think people will take the 5 gold. If it’s 90 minutes versus 3 hours, well….I think most would take the 1 gold. Plus, fractals are already randomized. Why not the instabilities?
I actually hate all npcs. We should remove all of them. Also, those monster keep attacking me, and I don’t like that either. Let’s get rid of monsters. And the world bosses too. Just give me loot for showing up in the map. Actually, let’s get rid of maps, I don’t like all that walking around. Crafting’s boring, let’s get rid of that, too.

Instabilities are useless as long as they remain level bound. Most of the people in my guild that do high level fractals do level 38, because it has the easiest instability. Level 38 is posion, chill, and confusion have unintended side effects. level 39 is enemies explode on death. Level 37 is damaged enemies get boons when unattended. Why would anyone do level 39 when the reward isn’t that much better than 38? Or level 42, where you can’t dodge as much, is surrounded by playing favorites, where untargeted enemies take half damage, and bloodlust, combat is agonizing. Why do 41 or 43, then? There’s tons of mistlock instabilities programmed into the game, but why not just repeat agonizing expedition twice? It seems like this is another poorly supported feature.
It was stated in one of the blogs a few weeks back (Don’t remember which one, too lazy to search for it) that WvW completion was in fact being removed from world completion. Being as it’s a change associated with the expansion, it will probably take effect on HoT’s release.
No, it was never stated in any blog. It was speculation based on a screenshot of pois, vistas, and skill points in a character’s world completion screen. It’s all speculation, it has not been confirmed by anyone ever.
I’m pretty sure Faren’s as dull as a butter knife.

I don’t think you’re going to get compensated for any gold you spent. That would be silly. You’ve gotten what you paid for, the use of the trait. You’re not being cheated of anything.
Skills Voice Over for Revenants/Specialists
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Some of us have a better ear for voices than others .
It annoys the hell out of me some of the hero voices actors also did a bunch of the NPC voices. I can’t NOT hear it’s the same person. You’d think the pool of available talent was a little deeper.
It’s worse when they have story dialogue in one voice, and when you talk to them outside the story, they use a generic racial voice. See the guy who works with the raptors in metrica, for one example.
If high level fractals are your idea of challenging combat, you can keep it, thanks.
I would love for the Revenant to be able to summon your character from guild wars 1, in a similar way to the mistborn wolves you get from the digital deluxe editon, in that it’s not a super awesome skill, it’s just something really cool for people who played the original game.
Okay, thank you.
So. I did something stupid, and deleted the character who got the daily log in reward before I accepted it. I’m worried that this might mean that dailies are bugged. I don’t mind if I get the day 1 reward tomorrow, but I am worried that I might never get anything again. Anyone have any experience with this and can give me some info?
Theoretically, heart of thorns could take place in the past or at the least the start of it, via a flashback. After all, the personal story takes place in the past, now.
You don’t get to be a hero if you attack and destroy a major city and kill a whole bunch of people while waking up a major dragon who also goes on to kill a whole bunch of people.
Also, I’m going to suggest that if RNG is causing this much angst and hatred for an event, then no, it’s not working properly.
Nobody considers the idea that all PC will be corrupted? Mordremoth’s sphere of influence is plant and mind, so every PC is succesable to mordremoth in a way. All PC have opened their mind in Omad’s machine so the PC is even more vulnerable. That and it seems the dragon is growing stronger so who knows?
It wasn’t Omadd’s machine that corrupted Scarlet. It was the Sylvari’s natural affinity to Modremoth, plus the fact that at the time, she was outside the influence of the Pale Tree. Remember, the second person to be corrupted by Modremoth was a soundless, a Sylvari that turn away from the Pale Tree. It’s not like he used Omadd’s machine, nor did any of the hundreds of Sylvari that attacked the pact.
Here, you want a suggestion: Make it so you can buy a coat box for 10k crests. YES, that’s a lot, and 10 times more than the other boxes, but this incentives people to do the boss, while at the same time, giving them a path to get the box, without totally having to rely on rng.
This is not a suggestion – its madness and absolutely stupid idea.
These are suggestions:
1. Make every “Armor Box” available to purchase from the Silverwastes vendor right after completing the “needed part” of the story line. Sale price 1000 krests.
2. Add “Armor Box” as a reward from completing each part of the living story. On every next completing of the same story line, with alts, players can choose a reward between “Armor Box or Black Lion Key”.
3. Increase the drop rate of Carapace Coat Box to 100% from the Vinewrath Boss. ATM your RNG sucks.
4. Add “Carapace Armor Box” container with a possibility to choose not only the Glove Box but every Carapace Armor Box available in the game ATM. Make labyrinth be more usefull for those who likes it.
At least …
Here’s the thing, they apparently want to incentivize people to do the world boss, so we have to work inside that. My idea does that. They’re not going to increase the drop rate to 100%
What I’m thinking is that the Pale Tree will tell sylvari pcs that she’s expending extra effort to keep the PC’s character uncorrupted.
Here, you want a suggestion: Make it so you can buy a coat box for 10k crests. YES, that’s a lot, and 10 times more than the other boxes, but this incentives people to do the boss, while at the same time, giving them a path to get the box, without totally having to rely on rng.
It doesn’t matter what they are, it’s what he thought they were. If he thought they were sentient, and experimented on them anyway, it doesn’t matter what they actually are. For instance, if you sneak into someone’s room, and shoot them, but it turns out they’re already dead, you’re STILL guilty of attempted murder, even tho they were already dead.
Technically, the assault hasn’t happened yet in the open world.
See, I don’t think Scarlet was corrupted because she viewed the eternal alchemy, I think she was corrupted because while she was inside the machine, she was cutoff from the Pale Tree, and this made her suspectible to modremoth’s influence. Remember Aerin was the second sylvari to be corrupted, and he was a soundless, who try to cut themselves off from the pale tree, while the Zepherites were flying over the Silverwastes, and AFTER modremoth was woken up by the Breachmaker hitting the leyline. Also, it was only the sylvari that got corrupted during the pact assault. The PC’s not corrupted, that wouldn’t make any sense.
Final update: I’m done, I got my third box. I’ll probably come back to this event, but not for a while.
Congrats Becka.
Just got my 2nd box, on my 21st run. One more and I can finally be done too.
Good luck! I hope you get another one soon.

I will. Most people will I think, It’s not a very fun event, and they feel cheated by the lack of any ability to buy the coat.
I think Evon deserves his own plush backpack. One that drops chests randomly.
And then steals them, because he’s evil.
Or, use the tokens WE ALREADY HAVE.
