I honestly think that Shatterer, pre april feature patch, was just about right. He usually took about 10 minutes to kill, and you did have to actually try. I don’t think he needs to be super difficult, but perhaps a bit harder, as he used to be.

New players can still play WvW and PvP, only their icons at the top of the screen will be locked.

If their icons will be locked, it means they can’t click them right? If they can’t click them, they can’t join WvW or PvP.

For WvW they can go through the LA portals.

I admit I’m not familiar enough with PvP to know if they have a portal in LA or not.

There is a portal in LA. It’s near the WvW portals. I think you can also keybind the menu, tho it’s not by default. checks Yeah, you can, but it’s not by default.

I had hopes that you would, and in fact, violated my “I’m not buying any new character slots till the fix it” rule because they were 40% off. I guess I don’t understand how you could not change them, after the 4 month long complain a thon that is the trait feedback thread. Of course, all my hopes were dashed when a red post said “you guys have some good ideas. We need to have some meetings.” Today just confirms it. It’s kind of disappointing, because the new trait acquisition method is awful.

I can’t help but get the feeling that this is more about placating us than any real change. I’ve seen companies say “this is a whole new era. We’re going to start communicating with you now!” and the player base gets excited, and then nothing comes of it, and the company depends on the time investment to keep people playing instead of actually doing anything to change it. Look at the trait thread. Four months of silence, and then “You guys make some good points. We’re going to have some meetings.” What were you DOING for 4 months? What’s the POINT of a feedback thread if you don’t look at it for 4 months, and only then 2 weeks before your next feature patch goes live. What CONCRETE steps are you taking to communicate with us better? We don’t need more cagey answer dodging replies filled with corporate doublespeak. That’s worse than silence, because it kind of insults our intelligence when you think you can say something without really saying anything.

As for CDIs, the only thing I can see that came from the CDI was the colored commander tag, and boy, did you handle that badly. And the Dredge fractal, which only took 1.5 years of complaining about to change. I understand stuff takes time, and I also understand that you’ve been burned badly by the precursor crafting thing, but if you want people to love the game, and love the company, you can’t act like a brick wall that occasionally spits out patches, and then refuses to listen, or even worse, gets upset when we don’t play the way you want to (see the knight attack in lion’s arch thing, where you got upset when we figured out a way around your plans, and then made us play the way you wanted to.) That update had 8 patches, still the current leader, tho dragon’s reach part 1 gave it a good challenge.

Anet apparently said “if that’s good, then unlocking ALL traits by doing activities will be great!” The playerbase went “What? NO! That’s not what we asked for at all.” And then anet said “We’ve cleaned up the thread” and then nothing else for FOUR MONTHS, then pop in to say “You guys have some good ideas, we need to talk about this”. Then they act baffled why people are furious about a lack of communication.

Everything you talk about is something that’s going to happen in the future. If there’s a problem, you’re either going to fix it, or ignore it. If there’s something we want, it’ll happen in the future. How do you communicate with people when you refuse to say anything about your plans, and have to be cagey with what you do say? It’s frustrating and pointless. In this interview: http://www.guildmag.com/guild-wars-2-interview-part-1-general-game-living-world/ You almost literally say nothing of any interest, except to stir up the recent crapstorm about SAB. I’m sure you’ll say “That’s why we don’t talk about the future.” But you don’t seem to talk about anything else, either.

This question, for instance:
Will you be updating the older personal story line steps to match the changes in the world?

Get’s this reply:

I don’t know the answer to that. It’s definitely something we talk about and we say ‘hey, if we’re going to go into a map that has existing story content, how much depth does that accumulate and is there a better place for us to do that? Is there a spot on the new map where we can tell that story without having to rework a bunch of the old stuff to match up.’ That said, you know, what we did with Lion’s Arch, we also did a lot of work to make some of the story steps to actually make sense within the context of ‘Now Lion’s Arch is destroyed’. So it’s possible that we go back and do that, but it’s definitely a question of, given the scope and the time frame that the team has, what do they think is going to be the most effective story and content that they can build?

What exactly is said? Almost nothing. You just say “well, we might or might not do it. It depends.” There’s 4 sentances, and 2 of them are questions.

The user base is frustrated by the black hole of information that represents Anet. You tell us nothing until you’re ready to deliver it, and then have to backtrack furiously when the entire community hates it, eg: the recent commander tags. You deliver updates like we’re Moses in front of the burning bush, and expect us to love them. And then you seem frustrated that we don’t, and clam up. There’s a thread about the trait system that’s been going since APRIL, and there’s like 2 replies in it. How the hell is that good communication?

Why is it that when I disconnect at the end of an event, or an instance, ALL of my progress is wiped out? Everything is server side. The server KNOWS what I did, it’s just goes “disconnected? Wipe out all of the work you did. Sucks to be you.” Companies know that disconnections are a problem, so why don’t they include more robust protection?

ETA: oh, the fact that my armor got broken? Saved. The fact that I finished the boss in my instance, and was just waiting for the dialogue to finish? Not saved. I love it when my time is wasted.

Commander Tag Changes Feedback [merged]

Becka Williams.4978

You knew that commander tags might become account bound, yet bought them anyways. The money wasn’t “wasted”. You spent it and got what you wanted. We have to make choices, and that means guessing at what’s going to happen in the future. Do you complain that you bought an ipad 2 a year before the ipad 3 came out, and then go to apple saying “it’s not fair, I want a refund” or do you realize you got use out of the ipad before the new one came out, and you got exactly what you paid for?

Not everyone had the foresight and crystal ball that you have to see that everything that Anet does will become account bound. If that was the case, everyone will hold off buying stuff.

Comparing apple to commander tags is completely different. One is tangible and one isn’t. Not even worth comparing. Besides, I never own an ipad and no intentions to ever own one.

I always guessed they’d become account bound, and there wasn’t enough utility for me, so I didn’t buy it till recently (yes, because the price is going up). However, I bought them before they announced the changes to color, because I didn’t care about the colors. The op presumably saw value in buying 1 for each of his three characters that he wanted to have commander tags. Then, sometime later, anet announced they’d go account bound. And now he feels like he wasted his money. Why? He has buyer’s remorse, but presumably he got SOME value out of having 3 commander tags. When’d he buy them? If they were bought a week ago, I’d have sympathy. If they were bought a year ago, less so. You make your choices, and take your chances. That’s what everyone does. Sometimes you choose wrong. That’s the chance you take when you make a choice.

Becka Williams.4978

How about this question – I’m super glad that this plan was revised – however, I have worked very hard to get the THREE tags I currently hold…. Can I get my gold back?

I now have 200 gold invested in something that I neither care (about multiple colors) or need if they’re going account bound.

Sitting here with the same question on my tongue. Maybe it’s been touched upon elsewhere, but I’ll add my voice here none the less.. it’s 3:39am. I too have purchased Commander tag for 3 of my characters. With the changes now making them account-wide, that is indeed 200 Gold that I did not need to spend. I would quite honestly like to get this Gold back.

Even if the new implementation of the Commander tag is/was to cost 300 Gold, and I technically having spent 300 Gold on three tags are at a match for the new costs, that isn’t a fair solution to this. Not at all. There are people right now, armed with this new knowledge, buying a single Commander tag, for 100 Gold, that will become account-wide once these changes goes live. That’s a bit unfair, is it not? Just because I was an early adopter, I get shafted out of 200 Gold that others that knows about these changes right now aren’t?

I do hope you have some sort of compensation in mind for this. I love the change of it becoming account-wide. I love the implementations of colors. I don’t like if I am to be out 200 Gold when Jimmy Commandsalot that just bought a Commander tag today, gets to have these great changes for a third of the cost, 100 Gold. I want to be treated fairly.

You were. You got exactly what you wanted. You knew that commander tags might become account bound, yet bought them anyways. The money wasn’t “wasted”. You spent it and got what you wanted. I think the delaqua family blade is a story instance only weapon, like caldebog. There’s NO way anet can sell a skin on the TP, then give away/make earnable a better version in game. Look at the flame kissed light armor fiasco for a hint of how this would go, only then, it was 20 gold, not 8 dollars in real money.

It’s sort of the opposite though. The better version available in game and the lesser skin in the gem store. But meh idk. We will see

Yeah, but the effect is the same. People will complain, and rightly so, that they got a lesser version for money while people get a glowing ascended sword for “free” in game. I honestly think that we’ll have to do something with Belinda’s ghost, and that’s when the glowing sword shows up. After all, the mega man cannon that Horrik used had a chat code, but was never released in game or on the gem store. (tho if I recall, it was just a skin, and didn’t have flavor text, which leads me to believe that the family blade is more like Caldebolg, in that you actually get to wield it, but only in a story instance.)

How many of you who want mounts actually spend more than….5 minutes running somewhere from a waypoint? Mounts are in WoW and ESO because they are sub games, and they are designed to SLOW you down, because the longer it takes for you to do stuff, the more subscriptions you have to pay. Anet doesn’t have to slow you down, but they also don’t take the Korean FTP MMO model of charging you a license to teleport around. In my old game, you had to buy a license to fast travel, or you walked everywhere, and they made it as tedious as possible to walk everywhere. They also sold gamble boxes to get a mount at 10 dollars a pop. A friend of mine bought 50 boxes, and didn’t get one. He was a whale, so the developers gave him a mount. And they did this EVERY six weeks. And the mounts would have a minor stat boost. We don’t need or want this kind of crap in the game. If anet gave us mounts, you guys would complain that they don’t do anything except look cool. And if they did do something, it’s suddenly pay to win. No mounts. Waypoints forever.

It doesn’t matter, once the patch hit it replaced everyone’s items. It is not going to get any worse. IMO mail out the right seed to everyone so we can go ahead and start working on the new backpiece. If people get to skip the first step, who cares, Anet messed up and they benefited from it. Just like the Season 2 tickets.

What about people who have finished the second backpiece, and legitimately got a pet seed. How does anet screen those out, to make sure they don’t get screwed? I know of at least one person who still had a cultivated seed, and they claimed they finished it before the patch.

Anet, we NEED a spot where we can meet with our server mates! No, WvW doesn’t count, because you can only meet up with like what, 50 people on the bls, and 100 people on EB at a time? You’re destroying server identity, because there is none outside of WvW, and that only matters to 500 people at a time.

If you didn’t ask for it, it can’t be that important. However, if you do get one, change your game password, and your email password, because it means that you might be compromised.

Also, to be honest, and I dunno if it’s the compression for the image, but the ncsoft logo looks really blurry in the email. That’s sometimes a clue that the email’s faked.

Did you notice the lights went out and there was a switching noise. Like somebody flipped off a circuit breaker. Figure it was done for dramatic effect of the video, but for a bio-illuminated setting was kinda…off.

Plot twist: Mordremoth is the electric company and the Pale Tree didn’t pay her bill.

I didn’t see Trahearne in the trailer (unless he used a Total Makeover kit and somehow became a Mesmer) nor any of the other leaders, so maybe it isn’t the summit that is attacked. They could be envoys, which would be a cop out.

I mean, we all figured it would be — it’s the prime opportunity to decapitate Tyria’s leadership — but the plot line couldn’t be that obvious. Could it?

Could the Pale Tree have initiated the summit to draw out Mordremoth? This could be a ploy to invite the dragon to attack, knowing full well the Grove will be home to the Tyrian leaders’ elite personal guards and couldn’t be more heavily defended.

Hell, since people have it in for the Pale Tree’s motives, her using the rest of Tyria as a shield against Mordremoth isn’t out of her supposed character.

Poor Taimi looks terrified. The Inquest definitely came a-knockin’ now that she’s tampering with the waypoints.

or OR she gathered them together for Mordremoth to kill

A plot twist far too exciting. Don’t bet on it.

I don’t know either. Sieran’s far funnier, and a way better character.

You did NOT just say that!
- I have no idea how she got to be a Magister in the first place. Unable to take orders, takes the new recruit into a pretty dangerous territory. Yeah, sure. WE could handle those dangers, but imagine if it was another recruit, who couldn’t? Imagine if that recruit had died? The scandal it would be for her.
- Instead of having a more “Listen, I know we’re supposed to go straight to the Durmand Priory HQ, but if we don’t rescue some of these artifacts, they may be gone forever.” take on the situation she’s more like “Hey, there’s artifacts. Don’t be a sourpuss, asuran who is my superior (or something), it will be fun.” and has a happy go lucky attitude with a hint of “Was in the right place at the right time” – which made her seem more stupid and unaware of the weight of her actions in endangering a new member of the order.

- Sorry, but I HAD to get that off my chest. Your post almost gave me cancer. :P

I consider Tybalt to be far more of a screw up than Sieran. Yeah, she a bit flighty, but you can tell she loves being in the Priory. Plus, she develops a crush on the PC. Nothing wrong with that.

You people complain too much.

I’ve opened at least 150+ chests so far, and gotten zero. Am I complaining? No. For two reasons:

1. What’s the rush? The chests have good loot, so I’m going to be farming them anyways. Just because I don’t have a weapon now, doesn’t mean I wont get one later. It’s not a big bother, nor’ do I lose any money trying. (Quite the contrary, chests are quite profitable…)

2. RNG adds a much needed flavour to RPGs like Guild Wars 2, and were long missing since the days of Guild Wars 1. Yes, you reading it right: GW2 needs more RNG. It needs the satisfaction of opening a chest and getting that rare item drop, or at least the excitement of trying for one.

I CAN’T DO ANYTHING. Every time I get somewhere, I get disconnected, and put onto a different server! This is frustrating beyond belief!

Anyone getting over the second episode?

The whole thing is documented crazy badly. You have no idea what to do when you get there, that Charr doesn’t give you any new information and you have to ask others what to do. I’ve gathered so far I have to kill some wolf somewhere and I’ve killed one other champion. Can’t this information be delivered to you by the game itself?

No, they want us to discover stuff organically. Or in other words, that’s the excuse they’ll use for spotty patch notes.

Yep, it’s completely broken. Another bang up job from Anet.
