Simply put, arenanet has made no acknowledgement that the server rankings are broken. If a full reset isn’t on the table then fine, I can see why higher tier servers would not want to go through the grind of roflstomping less population, but that’s what we go through week after week.
There have been a lot of creative suggestions about how we can solve this problem without affecting ANY of the other servers. Honestly, t8 endures the worst beatings and point deficits of any bracket. DR kain were first stuck beating up on smaller servers then once they broke out they soared through the rankings (after getting more players as they progressed but they could have easily made tier 5-6 with their populations before the explosions).
I have seen a lot of players from my server and FC post about this and I have even talked to a few players from SF that are looking for a better fight.
Here are some suggestions and conversations I have had. I feel they better represent how we as a tier feel (please don’t post here if you’re going to troll from another tier, this does not affect you).
If your server complains like that you all won’t last long in other tiers. t1 is horribly outmanned but you don’t see us in here every week with the same stuff. I think Anet gets it. Stop whining. If its that bad get your money up and transfer.

I’m not surprised at all really, JQ is well known for using cheap tactics like this.
One time when we were defending hills and getting our fortification upgrade up there was 2 members building trebs in the champion room and wasting our supply so we couldn’t upgrade.
Its sad how you guys have to spend $50 just to spy and sabotage servers.
There is nothing wrong with burning your enemies supplies, especially when you are a outmanned and you know the camp/ tower is gonna be flipped.

I also have a suspicion that not all kills you participate in get counted towards your total. Last night we literally farmed the entire SoS zerg in the borderland at the supply camp closest to their spawn, must have killed a couple hundred at least in the long fight. My kill total went up by 30 only…. I got 3x that many bags. So yeah.

It’s totally difficult to interpret tone in a text-only communication environment and it’s bound to happen from time to time.
And I’m totally with ya on the chest thumping. I’m totally against chest thumping when it’s unwarranted and was quite vocal on these boards against such activity a couple months back when we railroaded HoD and ET.
We need to look at this tier situation. The math is most certainly not “fine as is.”
100% agreed. A server shouldn’t have to completely dominate their opposition for months (emphasis on the plural) before they dig their score out of the ditch and move to a better suited tier. Mismatched fights like these are no fun for all parties involved (those who dominate and those who are being dominated). And it’s disheartening to hear that servers who are already struggling with WvW population are loosing even more people due to such mismatches (which even further exacerbates the population discrepancies).
Anet needs to fix this so SF stops complaining about it.

Repairs should be free as long as culling is still an issue
I feel that bugs are a part of the game until fixed. Culling is a bug, but it can be used as an advantage so it’s all fair.

I did. If culling, or any bug is in the game it should be open to use without penalty. Call it the stupid fee for the Devs failing on this. Also, since culling is so hard to fix, we should get free repairs too.

WvW achievement rewards:
If you run x amount of supply you get a 10% permanent speed buff until you and zone out. This is in addition to any other speed buff you currently have.
If you build x amount of siege, you get a 10% discount off the price of siege. You must build it, not just buy it to get the discount.
If you play sentry in one of your towers or keeps,for x amount of time, you get a defensive buff augment until you zone out.
If you escort x amount of dolyaks you get the supply runners speed boost, plus your boost affects your current dolyak.
Do any of these for x amount of days (say 90 hours) and you get a title and all these buffs every time you enter WvW.

i would go for this as long as they do the same for dungeons. just let me walk in and get my loot from the chest and along the way have loadstones laying on the ground that we can pick up. this way those of use that go into a pve zone but don’t like to pve can get our legendary weapons.
i don’t think many PvE players know how much easier it is for them to get a legendary than the guys that mainly WvW.
A guy that likes dungeons and PvE but hates PvP will get a legendary 10 times faster than a WvW player that hates dungeons
That is so true. Dungeons are icky. WvW is just a different game altogether for me. I’m also sick of being poor because I just wvw and nothing else.

The ele down state is epic. I just poof and breeze into a mob of my team and they all res me. By then I’m up, healing or using whatever cantrip on the bar for regin and I’m on my way.

Also since culling is so terrible why don’t they render large mobs as stick figures or ghost or something simple until its fixed? I wouldn’t care of everyone looked like a rectangle with a name on it until culling is fixed.

Stomping crash course for all classes—
Tricky classes
Thief – Main skill teleport, just start stomping, then move to teleport location. Second downed skill is stealth, just wait for it to end at same location after a few seconds, and keep attacking in the meantime. If the thief happens to put down a shadow refuge right before they die, they will be invisible for 10-15 seconds. Make sure to keep spamming the area with AoE or CC, and wait there if you see a very low health thief go stealth under a log cabin animation basically.
Ele – Main skill mist form. Start stomping, follow, stomp. They can move quite far and through gates, and are invulnerable while moving though. Second skill is useless.
Mesmer – Main skill clone (and also short invis). Start stomping, first character to appear is clone, second is the real mesmer. CAUTION, downed mesmers can stack a ridiculous amount of confusion if you try to auto attack them dead. Always go for the stomp. Second skill also does a kitten load of damage. Make mesmer dead asap when downed.
Control classes. All can be bypassed with stability or invulnerability. All but guardian can be bypassed with stealth, unless someone else is stomping too with ranger.
Necro – Main skill single target fear, second skill pretty much useless.
Guardian – Main skill pushes all nearby foes back. Second skill can heal the guardian very fast to a rally, so get them down.
Ranger – First skill dazes all stompers, but it needs to be targeted (unlike guardian). Second skill heals the ranger very fast, so get them down.
Warrior – First skill single target KD, second skill rallies the warrior for 15 seconds. If they pop vengeance just run away, the job is done.
Engineer – First skill interrupts and pulls one target…to the engineer. Second skill is a blowout. By far the easiest stomp…poor engis.
Lawl. When have you ever seen an ele in a position where we are close to death? The beauty of the ele, ESP the staff ele is being able to run from defeat before it happens. Honestly you waste a lot of time following ele’s when downed or close to down because of our escape mechanics.

When we capture camps and things, the useless laborer a should have to start building reinforcements or something. It bothers me that we see these random NPCs doing nothing. Also, reinforcements should involve the slaves to get armor and fight.

I like a lot of the OP’s ideas, #9 for sure. There is no excuse for that to have not been implemented from the beginning.
Badges should just be thrown out the window and instead put in yet another currency. Looting bags and chests that can hardly be seen, especially in WvW, needs to go. It’s one of the many bad ideas that make up the mountain of bad ideas that is GW2.
Commanders, Every one should be able to be a commander ! All that really needs to be done is to put 6 stars next to the commander tag that will fill up / turn gold after completing X amount successful of sieges as a commander. Also, commanders should have squads that any one can join but limit them to 20 or 25 people. Make it so we have multiple commanders doing multiple different things on the map . This would help with both culling and the massive zergs by splitting people up. it would also make for more strategic game play. On WvW maps, again to help split the zerg up and help with culling, Make it so one group / commander has to hold certain positions in order for another group / commander to take a keep. Killing one or both of the groups would end the siege.
Anet could very easily make WvW so much better but sadly i don’t have any faith in Anet making changes to WvW that make sense much less make it good.
Oh yeah! Have objectives that can be picked up by an NPC. There could be several, but a limit if each kind. Of example:
4 objectives for things like defense
4 objectives to take towers
1 objective to take castle
Not those per se but something like it. The objectives can reset at the end of a predetermined time. The team that gets the most objectives gets bonus points. Think about it: what good is an overpowered Zerg of a tower that is being defended when the team has to watch their camps and other resources? Sure higher pop servers will get more, blah blah life ain’t fair and nothing can be perfect… But you can get points for controlling one big thing or a bunch of little things. Also, if you take my idea #1, a random sandstorm or blizzard can tip the tables.

Several points i’d like to make:
If you examine the profession closely, Ele really only use daggers as a focusing device for magic anyway(albeit close range) since we do not physically stab/slash.
What the focus offers is mostly redundant with other ele skills across the other weapons, traits, and utility skills. We are penalized with long cooldowns for having versatility but only a handful of highly focused builds can really take advantage of these abilities, this is why everyone gives the same advice to go support heavy into water/arcane/cleric/soldiers or go full damage and crit heavy with fire/air/berserker.
There are entirely too many focus skins and comparatively far fewer dagger skins available in the game, this hurts endgame customization as the only really unique dagger is the legendary but there are so many options for cool looking foci. I personally would love to use the anomaly as a dagger, or simply to have a “mists” dagger at all as an option to work towards.
Since Ele do not have weapon swap, giving us so many character-locking choices doesn’t make much sense outside of having very long range and safety or very close range and speed.
My suggestions for how to go about handling this would be to change all foci into daggers for ele only and incorporate the effects from the focus abilities not directly present in the weapons into dagger/staff skills.
For example: churning earth would now reflect projectiles for 2 seconds during its casting, earthquake would provide a second of invuln., windborne speed would also destroy projectiles, gale could have its cooldown reduced or become blowout instead of just push, cleansing wave could offer an additional pbaoe chill, frost aura could deal damage or some stun at casting, fire grab could become a finisher of some sort and ring of fire could be given ground targetting similar to flame wall.
I am not a game designer so I don’t imagine any of this being a perfect solution but I think with the threat of heavy nerfs floating over our collective heads we need some kind of bone thrown our way so as not to neuter the profession completely. I agree that we are a bit too powerful right now when people use a few very specific builds but I also feel something bad is going to ruin us all in this next patch and I am messing around with different builds so the inevitable respec I will have to do doesn’t seem so bad.
Remove focus, ad focus 4 to staff 1 and delete staff 1 from the game.

You act like there is any other position to play for, unless you forgot about the million transfers that stacked on jq.
SOS has nothing to prove… We have a long history of coming in second place to them. JQ and SOS have watched “Johnny Come Lately” servers come and go from Tier 1. SOS is a respectable enemy.
Yeah JQ had a lot of transfers but there are more guilds than not toe to toe are skilled. There are just ten million of those mother-kittens…
SoR doesn’t seem like a johnny come lately with FEAR from SoR.

1. Enviromental manipulation: like in the sims where every so often things would happen like an alien comes and steals your sim. Instead sometching random could happen like whirlwinds spawn or ice storms like the ones in PvE. It may be annoying as he’ll but riding a well timed stormfront would add some dimension to the game.
2. Enviromental weapons: boulders, planks and bunnies should spawn.
3. Stop spawning our badges in those little kitten bags. Also, give badges for healing. Also, badges should be able to be looted from downed players
4. Increase the outmanned buff.
5. The NPC slaves should fix out walls. The quaggans should literally join the fight.
6. If Devs won’t fix culling they need to make repairs free.
7. Something to make it less about Zerg and more about strategy. I do not know what that is. I am the customer so I shouldn’t have to come up with ideas like this anyways. Devs are smart, they can figure someting out.
8. Commander for 100g should be stopped ASAP. That isn’t a problem in my with my server, because its awesome, but I see enough complaining on here that it needs to be done by merit.
9. Captured towers should spawn a chest.
10. Since there will be more badges, more rewards.
11. Add some objectives in the dead space in the corners on the maps.
12. Devs should post the WvW server population time statistics. This would serve as a tool to combine servers with compatible peak times. This links with 13.
13. Make transefers free for guilds. Guilds should be able to move around to balance battlegrounds. You can also make it so a guild has to have so many points to move so people won’t create guilds just so they can move servers.

If you are an ele pug in WvW please don’t waste all that good power. Just ele’s together with whatever weapon is a nice, but imagine 5 of us in a group, glass cannon and bunkers, steamrolling zergs.

That AC gear is lovely. It’s power toughness vitality. My dmg is kittens however my survivability is godly. For me the only problem with AC gear is obtaining it. For me, running AC for two weeks to get it was utter crap, one because I loathe dungeons and two I was too lazy/ cheap to respec for dungeon survivability.
I suggest before you invest time and resources into glass cannon, run the WvW battlegrounds from spawn point to different landmarks. I suggest you even do it wit no gear on to get used to having very little armor. This will also teach you the maps. The glass cannons that do well are REALLY good at map awareness and choosing their battles.

So reviving allies, X amount healed, Y number of boons provided or conditions removed should have a chance to automatically award a badge just like doing damage. It is NOT hard to program such a system.
This would never work. Baddies would just hang around spawn reviving each other and spreading boons.

I notice people don’t understand why no AoE cap is bad. It’s bad because it makes mage classes far more powerful than any other class in the game. You could put a glass cannon build on an elementalist, throw several of them up on a wall, and have them cast whatever AoE they want on a zerg, almost completely wiping out a single zerg, who are probably experiencing lag and can’t tell you’re casting it. That’s far too overpowered.
Hell, how would you feel if you were attacking a tower and your entire attacking force got wiped out BY 5 PEOPLE ALONE? That’s what you’re asking to be possible. I say nay, I already encountered that in another MMO I played a while back, and you want to know what all of the people on their force played because of that? MAGES. There were almost no other classes on their side, just mages, and we lost every war for 5 months because of it. That punishes anybody who isn’t a mage. So NO, DON’T EVER DO THIS ANET! DON’T EVER REMOVE THE CAP!
Your group would have to be extremely horrible, I mean beyond comprehension terribad to let 5 people wipe a group even if there was no AoE cap. Besides. Do you think that only the other side will have massive AoE?

None. Wrong game. If you want to press 1 and stand you will just waste time and become a burden on your teammates that will have to constantly res you.
However if you want to play GW2, here is my suggestion, play an ele. You will constantly be doing something. There is a definite learning curve involved, and if you get bored, change up your spec and roll a different weapon combo.

With a reset, the three T1 servers would have been split up… one in T3, one in T4 and one in T5.
The next week would not have been fun for the other servers in T3, T4 and T5.
Honestly, the top 3 tier servers could be mixed up into whatever combo you can think of, and in two to three weeks they would be on top again. Not because of numbers but because of skill.
And people migrate to places of competition. One reason why came from a mid tier server to a top one because I wanted to WvW only and I didn’t get the same level of play as I do now.

So I was on my way to the BL JP and I get jumped by 2 enemy players, I managed to down one player but his friend started rezzing him… seeing as stomping takes a while I decided to DPS him but he gets rezzed quickly, this happened 2 times in a row and eventually gave up and got myself killed.
It would be nice if the game rewarded me for playing to the best of my ability, but why bother? Its horrible game design that you have to kill a player TWICE, and its even more horrible that rezzing downed people is so fast and effective compared to stomping or dps killing.
Alright. So I take it you will tell your guildies not to res you when downed so that you may reward your enemy for his/her kill?

This is what gets me, the problem is not the AoE. Damage AoE’s take forever to cast (and not worth it with bad lag) and/or have
the kittenist cool down ever. The only way my else’s AoE can be potent is to take away survivability which takes me out of combat instantly with instadeath.
I think that AoE is a issue when you don’t move around. In my humble opinion, If people think that they can just stand in one place during a Zerg and live then you they should learn how to play.

Na, confusion should not be nerfed. As annoying as confusion may be, mesmers are usually targets and that balances it out.
