No it’s just life. The severs aren’t communicating its just all a matter of strategy and opportunity.
I rage so hard about it but in the long run, I’ve benefited greatly off of not pushing one server so the weaker sever can cap the tower that we could easily take back later.

I do not understand how this works,
1) Do player inside this jumping puzzle count towards the amount of players in the map as a whole?
IE when you get in a queue doe these players take up a space?
2) Are players allow to camp at the beginning of this particular jumping puzzle to prevents others from getting to the jumps?
I would like to formally ask that players who aren’t doing any jumping in the Obsidian Sanctum jumping puzzle be kick from the WvW jump puzzle instance because they are griefing other players who actually are trying to get something done, especially during time like this when the goal of one of the achievement is at the end of this jumping puzzle. thank you.
I agree with the OP, because I just went to the Obsidian Sanctum JP and I counted 12 – 15 Jade Quarry camping at the beggining, pulling people off the starting platform and killing them. I personally HATE this, and someone should put a stop to this, such as what the OP said (kicking them if they aren’t doing the JP).
That was a good day. Just JQ was camping you. And getting camped is life in MMOs IMO. Sometimes you gotta do something else or get a huge group to kill the, off.

As a warrior that runs melandru runes and the food being talked about I have to laugh at this thread (as well as your conditions but you already know that). If your a condition build and your not using the +40% condition duration food then you are the ones handicapping your build. This is something you can just as easily counter.
This^.
To the OP, is your build compatible with your Zerg? Zergs may seem hodgepodge and disorganized but the really good ones are in synch with the damage they stack and sustain.
Not just duration is killing you but the lack of cleanse from teammates will make you die faster.
Also the order you stack your conditions matter too.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
conditions and condition builds are far from underpowered in wvw.
Indeed. They’re just bad in the zerg, and that is where most of the complainers tend to dwell.
No, they have sustained damage, you just need to balance your cd with living through fights. Use a flamethrower to push through the zerg. My engineer is p/p condition and she does fine, however I had to sacrifice some condition damage for soldier accessories with rabid crest.
With my higher crit I can do a little burst with my flamethrower. Also flamethrower helps me push through serfs with juggernaut.

For large battles nothing beats Omnom Compote for me.
Solo roaming it really depends on my build/class.
If you’re going anti-conditions lemongrass poultry soup is stupid strong.
If you’re going + condition duration make sure you check to see that you’re getting at least a full extra second on your conditions from it. A 3 second bleed and a 3.9 second bleed do the same damage because of how they deal damage every second. Depending on gear/traits, some times it’s not worth while, others times it is.
Great point.

About food in WvW, can cost more in supplies but last 4 times longer? And for me, man there aint food in the game that can clear that but good gear and regen.
Food depends on my gear, and the needs of the group. I won’t tell you what I’m using but I will say that boon duration is soooooooooo good. Too bad the ele regen got nerfed because those few seconds are crucial.
The saffron poultry is great but I wonder if the remove condition applies to all y heals or just ones on me?

So instead of TC fighting JQ which will give them some good fight. They are fighting like rank 10-15 server?
The deviation is too large.
- TC can’t fight #3 JQ, because #3 JQ is busy fighting #2 SoR and #1 BG.
instead, #4 TC is fighting #7 Mag and #8 SoS. #7 and #8 are not by any means rank 10-15.
btw, #4 TC can’t fight #5 DB and #6 FA, because #5 and #6 are busy this week giving #12 CD a chance to prove that it deserves to move up.
really, these are all reasonable matchups. look at some of the outcomes in EU if you want to find servers who have a real reason to complain.
-ken
Not really. TC can beat Mag and SOS with one hand tied behind their backs by sheer coverage advantage. However if TC doesn’t push hard and completely blow their opponents out they will lose rating. So the point game incentive is to run up the score. Blowout matches are less fun than closer ones, especially for the loser.
Now DB, FA, CD might be a little more fun since DB and FA are closer in rank. They will probably concentrate more on each other and leave CD a little more breathing room to play a spoiler role.
Still count me in the favoring WULD camp, though I would even prefer a variant where you don’t move down or up unless you’ve won or lost twice in a row.
Wrong. They are ganging up on us (CD). It sucks, and I don’t think they are doing it as a coordinated effort -more what they see as easy ppt. I’m fairly hard core about my WvW and yeah we are learning from all these losses but I can DEFINITELY see how the more casual WvWers are getting frustrated and don’t want to join in or they log out after we lose our keep or garri for the 3rd time in an evening.
In tier 1, SoR and JQ tried to take our keep. They split the map in half and starved us of supply. With no supply, we held our keep for at least the 3 hours I was on.
SoR and JQ tried that tactic and again we beat them. However and the other 2 t1train hard, we get new tactics, we spend time theory crafting.

all of those are long term ideas for the distant future except for number 1. Something has to be done for guilds to organize more than 5 players more effectively and colored pins for different purposes would help with that but so would a lot of better ideas out there that have been suggested since beta which we still have not seen yet so yeah . . . keep dreaming, someday maybe but nothing else you suggest has much chance in happening any time soon (the no environment mobs is just not what the devs had in mind for the game so even if that would be easy, its not gonna happen). It can be fun to play the “perfect world with unlimited resources MMO” game but don’t get overly delusional with it or bitter when it takes years to see those kinds of changes.
There are a lot more pressing immediate issues in WvW that need serious focus first like skill lag and murderball mechanics that taking the fun and competitiveness out of the game.
I have no time limitations. Yeah the tags are a must.

Reset was so good I held my poo till I got a tummy ache.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
Ralathar came up with this and it’s good.
Unique builds for each siege:
Repeater Ballista: This ballista has half the cooldowns of the normal ballista but does 50% less damage.
Lightning Ballista: This ballista does 30% less damage, however the bolts it fires are 100% faster. No more infanty running sideways being able to dodge your shots!
Fight in the Shade Arrow Cart: This arrow cart covers the target area for twice as long per shot, but has takes twice as long to cooldown per shot.
Make it Rain Arrow Cart: This arrow cart has 50% larger AOE’s but does 30% less damage.
Grapes of Wrath Catapult: This catapult actually has a useful secondary fire!! The grapeshot fire mode fires significantly more rocks the the normal catapult, has a tight spread at a distance, and a loose spread up close. Additionally these rocks damage walls slightly. However it pays for this by doing 20% less damage with the normal shot.
Smokebomb Catapult: This catapult’s secondary fire mode fires a giant smokebomb that does 25% of normal damage and blinds all enemies in the area for a few seconds. However it does 20% less damage with it’s normal shot.
Mad Cow Trebuchet: The diseased cow now adds a few stacks of a short duration confusion as well as the normal poison. However it does 20% less damage with it’s normal shot.
Explosive Cow Trebuchet: The diseased cow now explodes upon landing, doing direct damage as well as it’s normal poison cloud. This does about 1/3rd of the normal shots damage. However it does 20% less damage with it’s normal shot.
Golems
Blitzkreig Golems: These golems move much faster but are 20% weaker in every other way except HP. They have 50% less HP.
Battlerager Golem: These golems do 50% less damage to doors but 50% more damage to people. Additionally they have 50% more hp and are more heavily armored. They also move as fast as a normal player without swiftness
Juggernaut Golem: These golems have 100% more hp and are much more heavily armored but do 50% less damage to doors and people.
This is of course me throwing out quite a few ideas. Many of them could be made specific to a certain type of siege or not used at all. I might not have thought of some things at all. I just want to add more variety to the siege game.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
Rideable guild siege. Not fast enough for driveby, just transportation. Also, enemies can kitten up your ride.
The siege cost some type of wvw currency and needs to be maintained with said currency. The currency cannot be gold.

i like the underwater keep idea
here’s what i’d like
1)different enviromental feel for the borderlands ( not different map just make it look different: ex. blue borderlands is a tundra, green is a swamp and red is mountainous
2)different central maps, SMC is starting to look a little dull now (even though this will annoy people wanting world completion, might have to only have 1 central map count towards world completion)
3) occasional leader-board reset: this is probably gonna generate most hate, but sometimes guilds essential to your server’s success in WvW leave for another server weakening your server. resetting it once every 3-6 months would make it feel like a sports season while still letting servers establish thier rank while minimizing the effect that a guild centered around WvW leaving. now some people might think theres no point, so there might have to be a reward system for server rank. to be honest: when the free transfers ended the leader-board shoulda been resetted anyway (idk if they were, assuming they weren’t)
4) more siege weapons and defences, maybe some weapons from the recruitable tribs (example, controlable dredge sound cannons in towers/keeps for a small fee)
5) NPCs using the supplies in a location to repair defences (have to be ordered to do it and costs some coin, but are more cost efficent in supplies)
6) Assassins: hired champion (or legendary) NPCs that once paid for will go into stealth and hunt down a hostile commander or sabotage a target location (destroy supplies, damage defences, poison the lord) weakening it for an assualt
7) upgradeable sentry locations: put more there, build a checkpoint turn thier locations into something of actual strategc importance: maybe even let them reveal enemy locations in a radius around them
Oh merciful Jesus those are good ideas.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
Some good suggestion…
My thought for underwater combat was to use the quaggan node and make it like seal of lyssa again. Then you can capture middle island and when you do it send 3 veteran and a couple of normal quaggan to NW, NE, SW, SE and South camp in the borderland. So, a good advantage.
Quaggan node wouldn’t be ignored anymore and we would get nice underwater fight. But I guess you will say it’s too PvE for your taste
No. Only quaggan keep. The nodes are supply. Fish NPCs reduced to keep lord and two attendants.
Btw the golems underwater would be submarines.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
Now that we’ve had several weeks of adjustment via random variation to the normal ratings, it has shaken up more properly some of the stale rankings that were created by the old locked in system.
But we really don’t need this every week, as it is depriving servers of more interesting and competitive matches that would be legitimately well balanced, as now every week you get someone moving up too far and getting stomped (KN) or a few other servers getting a free ride down a tier or two for easy victories.
The random additions to server’s rankings should happen only every other week at most, maybe even less than that. Rest of the time go back to straight order.
Yes put JQ, SoR, and BG in tiers 6,7,8. It would be great mobility training with theory crafting for a whole week.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
The skill lag would be atrocious. I dunno. Sounds too pve for my taste.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
I give arena net props for reading our suggestions and trying to put them in place. Other MMOs couldn’t give a kitten about what people liked and did what they pleased.
Think about it, you get hours of entertainment for 35dollars, more if you buy off TP. People are expecting everything right now and when it happens they kitten about it not being fair. These people are not Gods.
Server matchups were meant to have variety but as you can see the servers that are good are once again rise to the top while others trickle down the tiers.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
Three ways are not for fights they are for love. However stone mist is fine. And why the hell would anyone want to fight a pve boss wvw?

Im sure there is a bunch of topics in this thread buried somewhere. But I was wondering what people think of this. Yes, I will openly admit the rally system has saved me on multiple occasions, even today. But when half a zerg rallies off a fight in npc area (takes ogres camp for example) that is just wrong in my eyes.
If they keep a downed state in WvW they should at least put a 10sec timer before you can be power rezzed or rallied. Just my personal opinion. Im curious of what others think.
It’s only wrong because ogres and all the other pve NPCs non related to keeps don’t need to be there.

^ this. Plus it cant be ‘gambling’…as you ALWAYS WIN. You never open a chest with nothing in it. Sure it may not be what you want, but you are getting something for your money.
Yes you always win something, but that alone doesn’t make it legal. It’s the randomness that allows a sweepstakes or lottery to be legal. But in the case of RNG and gambling, we own nothing in this game. All digital items are property of NCSoft, and we’re merely paying for the right to play with them. Heck, if I paid $100 for Gems, they can give it to me, but I have no legal rights to them. It’s a virtual currency that has no value, and NCSoft has the right to delete them from my account without refund, as per the User Agreement.
Didn’t Blizzard have similar issue? About vitural rights? It was probably unrelated but I remember a lawsuit.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
I see that Penguin. Thank you for the posting. However, I think it is MORALLY BANKRUPT to accept money from people as a gamble for a rare item that has an undisclosed drop rate.
Post the drop rates for these items and let the consumer make an informed decision. if the odds are 1:1000, why not tell us?
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
I would like to see if State Law agrees that it is not gambling when you are exchanging money for items.
I mean, carnivals do the same thing, but they are regulated. They get fined if they stack the odds so it is virtually impossible for people to win.
This post is not about if “people are too stupid to keep dumping money” its about is it morally right? Is it even legal?
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
I wonder if taking real money is for items with an undisclosed drop rate is considered legal in the State of California. Its one thing to have impossible odds when one is paying a subscription, but when real life money is used at the trading post to buy keys for chest and dye packs that include worthless crap most of the time is gambling.
I really think ArenaNet should put a stop to this practice until they are sure they are not violating state law.
If it is not illegal, I’d like to think ArenaNet would have a moral obligation to the gaming community to not rip of thousands of people.

They didn’t fix the major issue they passed the buck on culling a fix would be a total redesign on their gw2 engine from the ground up not a redesign on the antiquated gw1 engine. What they did with culling is the same thing they did with orbs they just removed it and kittenly I might add by only giving the client some laymanish presets lowest/low lol how pathetic is that.
What they did was expose just how bad their engine is now that culling on their end is gone the real issue will be as I have said all along skill lag and how it will eventually destroy wvw.

Can you answer why bags are dropped instead of loot just coming to us?
Why is it that my precursor hasn’t dropped yet? Is it because of the time I TPed ArenaNet headquarters for not fixing culling in beta?
Bags are dropped because some people may have full inventories and would like to clear them out before coming back to pick up their bags. Also, one might think that WvW loot is trash anyway and wouldn’t want to pick up the bags at all. The bags are automatically transported to the player because sometimes enemies are killed in inaccessible locations such as inside towers or keeps.
Forgive my off-topicness
You’ve never died staring longingly at bags. I have a solution for the full inventory: no more dropping dropping anything but money and rares.

Number #1 on my wish list for WVW would be a Darkness Falls (DAOC)-like dungeon in WVW, accessed from the regular game world, which has entrances on all 3 WVW servers but only 1 server is allowed access to it at a time. Access can be obtained by WVW objectives only, eg: whichever server holds the most of (SM + borderkeep garrisons). When ownership changes hands, it becomes a hotbed of PVP as the new owners clean out the old.
The important thing is to populate it with high-end PVE content/rewards, and keep it PVP-enabled so there is risk.
Yes. That and a chest with something at least yellow for taking castles, bay, hills, and garrison.

I play all weapons for variety. Also have you tried getting new gear? I have a pure soldier/ doyak bunker set and a glass cannon set. it is nice. Different gear plays differently.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
I played an elementalist to 30 and I think they are possibly the worst class ever made. They are horribad. They do crap damage and die so fast it’s pathetic in any spec other than earth. It’s just not worth the time to play them. Maybe when I get a programable mouse to teach to play the musical of key presses needed to make them not suck, I’ll play her again.
you wont have an accurate opinion on any class till 80; i hated mesmer till 80; now it (ele and ranger) are my favourites
-also gw2 has a 1 button press= 1 action policy; afaik macros go against thatTrue but a lot of people use macros though. In WvW, I have seen too many people dodge jumping with perfect timing that makes you wonder if they are using a macro or are just great with the skill.
No it’s the equipment. I couldn’t possibly play my ele without a gamer mouse, and hat only has 12 extra buttons. My hands are small so using the default in games have always been impossible.
{{80 ele Soap 80 engi Flush}}
Ill start: i have a friend who i play with, we both have ele alts, i like scepter focus and he likes staff. What makes me cringe though is the fact that he uses fire 99,99% of the time…. Just spamming fire 1 and sometimes fire 2 and 3. He only switches to air only while travelling for the speed buff.
depending on the group and the eles build, this may be the most effective way to play staff-ele
No, no and no. ONE Earth #1 and you just applied 3s of weakness. This means every non-critical hit is a glancing blow which only does 50% damage. Now do you think an overall 50% damage reduction is something to be neglected in favor of a little more DPS?
What about chill? What about AoE healing and condition removal? What about stacking vulnerability on bosses?
Staying in one attunement 99% of the time is pretty much the only wrong way to play an ele, regardless of your build and trait lines. Players who do that ignore our main class mechanic and do not take advantage of it in any way. End of discussion.
He’s just being lazy. I do this sometimes, except I use air.
Also not having AoE instant cast and 100% clicking isn’t wrong but it cripples us.

Hey Devon, four simple things:
1) I’m always broke in game because wvw offers so little money. Can bags drop more coins?
2) can bags just be auto looted?
3) I’d like boulders and bombs and other environmental weapons on the field, just because the boulder knockdown is boss.

If you are a guild that wants a shot at real hardcore WvW on a server with a strong commander community try Blackgate.
Don’t believe the poo you hear about T1 servers using hacks because its not true. We are just very competitive and when exploits are caught the person is working alone.
Contact me about moving your guild to T1 for a server wideWvW community with frequent communication between guilds and commanders.
We can also see about minimizing cost.
It’s interesting how most people who moved out actually were at Blackgate…
No thank you… I don’t want to have to be a puppet on the big “hardcore WvW” guilds master plan and I’m sure many down here share the same.
At least I offer a solution. I give an opportunity and get slapped in the face.

I think there needs to be a way that commanders, in addition to having the blue tag, get a few abilities and one of those abilities should be the power to cut off someone from taking supply on their server for a 20 minute time period. This issue happens from time to time where some lunatic or saboteur from another server will purposely spend an hour wasting supply building a bunch of siege and no one can stop them. We just stand around helplessly whispering them to stop as they drain all the supply in SM. Then the other server attacks and takes the point. Sometimes it’s just some fool who doesn’t realize that supply is limited. If the commanders could cut that player off for say 20 minutes to a half hour, that would solve the problem. They could still play, just not carry or take supply.
Commanders don’t have time to micro manage supply.

I WISH ele’s were that good. Our AoEs are good but only if you are lame enough to stand in them.
And who stands in one spot long enough to get killed by AoE?
