RIP City of Heroes
Ah, I didn’t realise you had to actually set this option in your graphic settings. I spent the whole of last night staring at the screen thinking “this seems worse than usual”, lol.
I was thinking, why is everything seem smoother?
RIP City of Heroes
Thanks hadn’t thought of that. Do you see any issue with copying mine to an external deive and then copying it to her comp? Or should I pay it safe and stick to hers?
External USB hard drive is works.
USB thumb drives not as well because they (well the ones I have) are formatted as FAT32 which has a 4GB limit on file size. So I used 7z to split the the nearly 16GB dat file into a bunch of CDROM size chunks, as DVD size chunks are still greater than 4GB, and then reconstituted it on the target system.
RIP City of Heroes
So you did check your graphic settings Chaba? Because I know mine was altered majorly by the patch.
RIP City of Heroes
Only thing I can suggest, if you don’t have the game on an SSD is to make sure the game data file is defragged after every patch. I use a free 3rd party defragmenter that allows me to defrag of file or a folder independent of the whole drive. Can’t hurt.
Otherwise there’s nothing you can do short of a faster machine or storage like an SSD.
RIP City of Heroes
See I always read the “swing a sword” comment to be about the dynamic nature of combat in this game. I came from an MMO that roots you during an attack so it basically a slug fest unless you are kiting a mob or running away.
I also didn’t hear/read the manifesto until after I started playing so maybe I’m making these associations believing what I’m seeing is what they meant.
RIP City of Heroes
Your suggestion about making them free all the time IS modifying the way they work.
Please read my post instead of guessing what I’m arguing for.
P.S. What are your thoughts on the fact that Anet has no qualms about reducing ALL the waypoint costs, not for a few people, but for ALL people for 2 weeks.
Sorry the argument got hijacked and I thought you were looking for no WP fees as I’ve seen in previous threads.
And it’s 4 weeks. And I don’t have a problem because you are still charged for their use. The slight disincentive is still there as well as the gold sink.
RIP City of Heroes
Gyp is a slur against a particular type of people. (Gypsies) – The more you know *
Isn’t that kind of like saying “Scot” is a slur against people from Scotland?
No because Scot doesn’t have a disparaging meaning where gyp means cheated or swindled. You don’t hear “I’ve was scot” or “He scoted me”. What would that even mean? You were forced to listen to bagpipe music, eat haggis, wear a kilt and/or dye all your body hair ginger?
There is a similar case where the name of one religion is used to refer to the bargaining prowess of it’s followers but can also imply being cheated. We don’t use that word in polite conversation either.

Best of what’s available at the price for gaming IMO, A8-5550M with HD-8550G. The GPU is more powerful than what’s found in inexpensive Intel laptops but CPU is a weaker.
If you are going for a powerful CPU then this. i5-4200U with Intel Graphics 4400M

At this price point it’s all about compromise. Either will probably play the game fair on low game settings. I would lean toward the AMD based one for general gaming.

Sorry all I can think of now is that Ratbert is a skritt. Which leads to a Ratbert backpack.

The most important take away from this election is this: 48% of your players preferred the unknown Charr over the character you’ve forced us to work for over the last few Living Stories.
Please take this opportunity to realize that we don’t really like her that much. Half of your playerbase voted for her simply because they knew who she was, not because she was liked. The other half voted against her because they couldn’t stand her character.
I’d be OK with her winning the election as long as she is permanently assigned to the Council room and is now too busy to ever be involved in the story again.
Don’t sell apathy short. Many people may not have cared either way and simply voted for someone, or both.
RIP City of Heroes
Wasn’t paying attention. Time delay for me between main program and dat file is 11 minutes so at my connection speed, I’m guessing roughly 200 megabytes.
RIP City of Heroes
Two things.
Sound is streamed off the hard drive, if the hard drive is being pounded due to other assets needing to load, sound doesn’t have a chance to play.
RIP City of Heroes
They may not have been deceptive at all. They may have believed most interested players thought the same way they did, spoke the same lingo. Of course with the limited length of the video prevented any detailed explanation.
Or they may have had a much more informative presentation that was edited down to a series of sound bites that were vague and could be open for interpretation. That’s why it was clarified a few days later. Sadly not a lot of people saw that and the echo chamber of the Internet eventually reinforced one series of interpretations over all others.

Unless the Queen’s mall carries old LW skins but for coin I have no idea who would buy it.
RIP City of Heroes
Every region can have it’s own payment model. In 2008 in Korea, Japan and Taiwan, GW was sold either B2P like here or with monthly subscription but with no game purchase. So whatever the popular method to pay for MMOs in China will likely be supported.
RIP City of Heroes
I strongly disagree with the argument that people are taking the manifesto out of context. I believe what we have is people like me who saw the manifesto and its language and realized it happened to be consistent with our current understanding of what kind of gaming company ANet was. They were a players company, in my eye, that catered towards a crowd who didn’t want vertical power progression, preferred horizontal progression, and didn’t even know what time gated rewards were other than BDay gifts.
That’s called reading into it. You attributed what you believed to be motivation in a video version of a marketing 4 color glossy.
RIP City of Heroes
No because I had a pile of votes I’ve been carrying around, might as well use them. Now since I don’t care about fractals but the winner also determines which one is done, I didn’t think it was particularly fair for me a non-user, not big into the lore of Tyria either, should decide.
And the achievements. Didn’t do enough to get anything however. Not a fan of mini games, scavenger hunts and jumping or collection puzzles.

To the OP: There are a lot of players that like dailies. The beauty of them is that if you don’t want to do them you dont have to. Removing them wholesale from the game removes them from those of us that like them. Options are a good thing. Don’t remove options.
Which is funny because what dailies do is remove options.
Players no longer have an option of working towards a goal.
They just don’t have the goal of getting ascended gear as fast as possible with play time. The only option it removed is not doing the the daily and monthly if you want ascended gear as fast as possible.
If neither of those things are important to you, you lost nothing.
RIP City of Heroes
I think the hardcore in their little echo box of awesome assumed early on it was going to be a landside for Evon.
Who wouldn’t want the Fractal Evon promised? In reality it’s who cares about fractals. Hint, not the majority of players. So that wasn’t a factor.
BLC keys have fallen out of favor, unless the discount was extreme I wouldn’t care. I likely won’t notice the waypoint discount but everyone does use them. So so very slight lean to Ellen.
In the end it was just that Ellen just seemed more trust worthy while Evon came off as Lex Luthor. So Ellen takes the vote.
You, and other players like you, are exactly the reason why people who wanted the Abaddon fractal are so vehemently angry right now. Because people who don’t even run fractals decided which fractal they have to run. Fractals are picked at random, so you will be forced with a choice: Run the fractal you don’t want, or quit the group. You put this on fractal runners when you don’t even care about fractals, when in fact, the fractal is the ONLY bit of permanent content to come from this vote. The consequences of your vote for yourself are transient, they will go away. The consequence for fractal runners are enduring.
That is why we hate you, and every player like you. Would you like us to choose your personal story for you, and have the choice you want be thrown out and force you to run the story you don’t like?
I gave Evon and Ellen the same number of votes so don’t blame me.
RIP City of Heroes
Wonder how many patches we’ll see in the first 24 hours. I’m wagering two.
RIP City of Heroes
Because they had to give Evon something to make him desirable. Unless he was planning to cut keys to 10 gems each, key discount isn’t a big factor. At least everyone uses the waypoints.

On one hand having it tied to drops means those who play the game more, who will be affected by the outcome more, gets more of a say. They have more “skin” in the game so to speak. I had something like 80-100 votes but I see others complain about having 100s they hadn’t used over all the ones they had already used.
So I don’t have a problem with this.
RIP City of Heroes
I had over 80 and less than 100 tickets.
RIP City of Heroes
CoF1 was the fastest and by limiting rewards to once a day it forces speed runners to do other dungeons/paths that aren’t as quick so in theory the total amount of coin and items entering the world via dungeons will be less than where it is now. Plus it should open up to more pugs in other dungeons since the hard core runners will be forced to run all of them if they want their daily loot pile.
There is a possibility that the gold sinks in the game have finally out strip the gold sources and that’s why the influx of coin from achievement chests, support drops and the changes to the dungeon and champion rewards. Maybe TP activity is doing to good of a job skimming money away or locking it up at the gem exchange.
RIP City of Heroes
In EVE you can by PLEX (a monthly subscription voucher) for real money and sell it on the player market (price floats, currently around 540 million ISK, 3000 available). You can use to either pay for your subscription or convert it to a proxy currency (fixed conversion, 1 Plex for 3500 Aurum) for use in their “cash shop”. However items from the “cash shop” can then be sold on the player’s market for ISK.
RIP City of Heroes
As someone who came from an MMO where alts were encouraged and few things were character bound, City of Heroes, I consider soulbinding here annoying only for items from the cash shop.
Either introduced a more expensive account bound version of these items or a converter item that changes soulbound to account bound. Make it 500 gems/2000 for 5. Anet still makes money, player begrudgingly pays.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s unclear if the 2.5 million logins a week are unique or just a total.
I’m sure when the anniversary hits there will be a press release about current copies sold. May include those numbers found on the China site. I also wouldn’t be surprised if we get a new trailer in the vein of the Chinese one. The grumpy CW demographic trailer really doesn’t cut it.
As for F2P, no not yet if ever. As time goes on the price of the game/account will drift down. If F2P the game will be flooded with bot farmers that will wreck havoc with the markets as they convert their drops to gold to later sell. Forcing bot farmers to pay for an account keeps them from out numbering us.

Hi,
When do reduced waypoint costs take into effect?Waypoint travel still costs as much as it did before.
I would imagine the tomorrows patch.
RIP City of Heroes
And you miss the “work as intended” part which encompasses charging coin for their use.
1) They are usable once discovered.
2) You pay a fee based on level and distance traveled to end up there.
3) It’s free in cities or when you have no coin.
That’s how they work, therefore your suggestion about making them free all the time IS modifying the way they work.

Didn’t say it wouldn’t run fine. I just said it wouldn’t run as fast as on an Intel.

Then link your DxDiag so we can see exactly which CPU you are using because there is no such thing as an i5-310M. If I’m right and it’s an i5-3210M, well here’s the Intel data on it. Note the # of cores.

An HT duel core will read as 4 logical cores when in reality it’s only two cores and mirrors.

The exchange was stocked with a large fix number of gems and some amount of gold at launch. The ratio of Gold to Gems sets the price. At launch it was around 30s per 100 gems.
When a player converts gold to gems, his gold is added to the exchange’s gold and he gets gems back. Now the exchange has more gold and fewer gems than it once did so the price of gems goes up.
When a player converts gems to gold, his gems are added to the exchange’s gem supply and gets gold back. Now the exchange has less gold but more gems than before the price of gems goes down.
Only time gems are created from nothing post launch is with cold hard cash. They are destroyed when spent while any traded to the exchange is set aside for players willing to pay gold.

GTX 780.
The HD 7990 is a dual GPU card so it’s really CrossfireX in one slot. For technical reasons I’ve always dislike SLi and CrossfireX solutions.
The Titan is not that much faster (10%) over that model of GTX 780 but for a whole lot of more money (50%).

GW2 doesn’t hate AMD. Games that are more dependent on CPU than GPU hate AMD.
Like GW2?
Or a game like Civ 5.
RIP City of Heroes
Assuming you slipped a digit and you have an i5-3210M, it’s a dual core with HT which for gaming is like having a dual core but slightly overclocked.
Have you checked to see if it really using the 650M or did it stay with the Intel 4000.

Before Laurels wasn’t fractals the only way to get rings? So Laurels was a way for non fractal players to get one. The devs mistake was not adding the other items to the fractal reward system when they added the Laurel system.

Items like legendaries and ascended items give addicts, like myself, something to do. Adding time gating, grinding, etc. are necessary so we don’t just get the latest shiny within a few hours of its release. The stats are irrelevant – the shinies aren’t meant for the mainstream, but the OCD’s who want more more more more more. I’m happily part of that group, and I feel it’s OKAY that ArenaNET makes so much of this content that it’s darn near impossible to get it all without completely giving up your real life.
Do you have EVERYTHING in the real world? Probably not. If you did, I suspect you’d be getting your thrills flying your Lear Jet, not playing Guild Wars.
I suggest tempering your own expectations. If you feel that you HAVE to spend all of your time playing to get ALL of the achievements, it’s time to evaluate their importance in your life.
The worst part about this game is the constant trash talking on the forum.
You want a challenge? Stop playing PvE! No AI will ever give you the challenge of an organized PvP team.
ArenaNET is staying consistent to their original vision by limiting the progression opportunity in the game. It’s ridiculous that there are seven pages of bickering over whether players should have everything handed to them or WORK for it.
To meet the wide variety of player types, ArenaNET must offer a wide variety of options that appeal each. If you want something that is in the “wrong category,” it’s YOUR problem, not the game’s. Once you are past that, you will have the choice to enjoy the game or move on.
I bet you all that the time spent on this forum has a bigger impact on the game’s attendance than dailies.
PLAY THE GAME!!!!
It’s not about not working for it. It’s about how you go about working for it, by play time or by play frequency. The argument is play frequency levels the acquisition rate while play time would mean their will be a spike of players with them followed at a slower rate by everyone else. Basically you will be penalized for having a life outside of the game.

With the new wallet, unless it’s your first character, you will never have 0g ever again.
While 0 cost in cities is nice the cost in zones discourage skipping by random critter encounters, mat nodes and chance encounters with other players. It helps to keep large areas from becoming simply “flyover country”.

It wasn’t until I rolled my 2nd character that I realize the “bank” was an account bank and not a personal bank. Once I did I decided that every character empties their purse every night and takes out an allotment when they are played, I always park them next/near a bank.
