I actually like the over the top effects from this glider. Not useful in all situations but soloing it’s fine.
RIP City of Heroes
Agreed. Armor repair is just an annoyance now. While it made some sense as a gold sink back when it cost money, it has no purpose for being around, as well as the armor damage system. The game would do just fine with those gone.
As for death penalties, no thanks. For me, dying in the first place is bad enough, along with having to waypoint/checkpoint and run back. Anything extra is just pouring salt on the wounds.
Good, it’s suppose to be an annoyance. You die, your armor gets busted. If it annoys you then DON’T DIE. Geez. Some people.
RIP City of Heroes
Current generation CPUs are only 20-30% faster per thread than the CPU you have. To upgrade you would have to get a new motherboard as well as memory (DDR4), not an inexpensive option.
RIP City of Heroes
Biggest problem is the tiny 180 watt PSU that’s in that unit.
Top end you can get a 1050Ti or an RX 550 but those are fairly power hungry cards, relatively speaking.
RIP City of Heroes
Rarely. I should but I don’t.
RIP City of Heroes
Outfits as well as other TP items are constantly rotated in and out of the Gem Shop. Most are back for a short time every year. All you need to do is wait.
RIP City of Heroes
Honestly, why just we don’t crack them into pigments.
RIP City of Heroes
Well whether or not it’s “a waste of dev time”, priority does set what a dev can do on the clock. So in the end it’s not as much of a waste of time but not having the time to implement some idea that’s the limiting factor.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s $50 worth of gems at 1/2 price. Since the game has never offered a sale on gems proper, I think it’s a good deal.
And while we are here, yes you can upgrade to the deluxe edition of the game but at the cost of $30 worth of gems rather than the $25 upfront cost. They did the same for HoT.
RIP City of Heroes
Except Ryzen closed that gap by a fair amount. Price wise the Ryzen’s a better deal Leo.
RIP City of Heroes
Looks good. Not a game that requires a 1080Ti.
RIP City of Heroes
HoT and LWS3 go together.
PoF and LWS4 go together.
Any questions?
RIP City of Heroes
They don’t need to add anything to support SLI or Crossfire, it’s automatic. This issue is it doesn’t buy the player anything because on the vast majority of systems it’s the CPU and not the GPU side of the game engine being the limiting factor. SLI and Crossfire work because it takes the GPU far longer to finish rendering the frame on the various optimized game engines being used out there and mulitple GPU support allows a second frame to start rendering while the first is finishing up.
Sadly the current game engine for GW2 doesn’t do this as it’s the GPU (unless you are running it on a potato) that is waiting on the CPU to finish up the frame.
RIP City of Heroes
Welcome to the game. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Bug riding mounts. Mount up, mount doesn’t appear. Move and watch me ride off, on the ground until I’m out of sight. Then the camera snaps to me on the mount. Very silly.

Assuming you’re on a PC and have more than 4GB, it prefers to run the 64-bit version.
Unsure if you need to download anything, it’s been a pretty long time since 64-bit became the “standard”.
RIP City of Heroes
It hasn’t been “beta” for Windows for a while now. Now Mac 64-bit is beta and native Vs the 32-bit which uses the old Cider wrapper.
Well “beta” is a loose term.
RIP City of Heroes
Ah thank you.
RIP City of Heroes
Well this version does use 35 threads but most are below 1%, six above 18%.
RIP City of Heroes
Why 2000 gems? To make it a premium upgrade that makes everything else, including a copy of the expansion, look good. 2000 gems is $25€, compared to the $30€ makes the basic upgrade look like a no brainer. Then look at the 3500 gem “Path of Fire Preparation Pack” which includes another 4900 gems worth of merch on top of the level 80 boost.
RIP City of Heroes
Yep. Sorry but it’s not worth the money to construct a booth at either location.
RIP City of Heroes
Yes and no. Yes it can use all cores/threads. No, it doesn’t use them to their fullest, just like every other CPU.
RIP City of Heroes
What the heck is ICM?
RIP City of Heroes
Every version of PoF comes with a max 80 slot. Upgrading to Deluxe doesn’t give you another.
Don’t forget the Wiki can be edited by anybody. While a lot of it is true, not all of it is.
RIP City of Heroes
Ah … yeah … you do know this patch includes the playable area for PoF right?
RIP City of Heroes
No. You get one per expansion.
RIP City of Heroes
Trust me, it’ll take 72 hours.
RIP City of Heroes
It’s been reported (I think it was on Bog Otter’s stream Tuesday), that they did create a spider mount but it was deemed too creepy to use.
RIP City of Heroes
/wiki livia from the chat window will bring up a page on who she is.

At the end of the day it provides a greater pool of virtual memory for the application. That’s it.

Correct, sort of, in a perfect world. The “Buy more at Trading Post”/“Buy Instantly” decreases the supply number while “Sell at Trading Post”/“Sell Instantly” will decrease the demand number.
Now if nobody pulls their orders or items off the TP between snapshots, or ADD items , then sold is when supply goes down and offers if it goes up. If demand goes down then it’s listed as bought, up as bids.
But, and it’s a BIG HUGE BUT, it’s simply the delta change between snapshots of the supply and demand number that determines Sold/Offers and Bought/Bids. If any item is posted for sale and sold within the time gap between the snapshots will not register as sold or bought. If someone offered 250 iron and 240 are sold between snapshots, we will only see +10 being “Offers” and none of those 240 that were sold.
RIP City of Heroes
Nobody reads the not so fine print.
RIP City of Heroes
Not yet @Bridlegoose. But maybe … soon … maybe …
RIP City of Heroes
1000 gem – Lily of the Elon VIP pass
1000 gem – identity repair kit
800 gem – character slot
700 gem – outfit
for $25 or $30 of gems from the shop later.
RIP City of Heroes
That outfit is a throwback to GW, or so I’m told.
RIP City of Heroes
I imagine it’ll be the same number of HP.
RIP City of Heroes
Bought and sold is based on changes in the supply and demand numbers respectively.
The mirror database the API uses is updated every 5 minutes or so. BW2BLTC compares snapshots and estimate based or either supply/demand numbers or the actual current buyers/current seller numbers the amount of goods either bought by a current buyers, or sold by a current seller.
Now players can pull there orders and items off the TP at any time so the number changing doesn’t actually transaction happened. Plus since it’s based on snapshots of the current state of the item on the TP, it wouldn’t see say 3 sold and then 3 others than put up for sale between snapshots.
Also sold/offers and bought/bids go hand in hand, depending if the delta in supply and demand is positive or negative. If supply goes down between snapshots, it’s “sold”, goes up it’s “offers” for instance. If demand goes up it’s “bids”, down “bought”.

In the future, if we release further Guild Wars 2 expansions, we plan to offer all of the prior expansions, the core game, and the latest expansion for one single purchase price.
Which is what they did. It’s $20 more package deal.
RIP City of Heroes
They are making a distinction between Europe and USA, creating different treatments between Europeans and Americans.
I can’t remember the proper word for it in English.
Except they’re not. They have to include VAT when listing the EU/UK price, US price doesn’t include tax. Already showed there is virtually no difference between US price without tax and EU price with VAT.
RIP City of Heroes
I can’t remember for sure, but wasn’t HoT more expensive at launch than PoF is gonna be?
Yep, HoT was $49.99 at launch, now $29.99, bundle with PoF, $19.99.
RIP City of Heroes
Well all European sales go through the UK office so it’s the UK 20% VAT that’s used.
RIP City of Heroes
Even if they completely rewrote the game the graphics would not just magically look better, this is a myth that is used to sell bad games.
All you’d really gain is better CPU usage from thread-safe GPU model.
The game would be able to load more and larger textures, it wouldn’t “magically” look better but at least it would allow it to look better.
Assuming they redo the textures.
RIP City of Heroes
I assume the $1 = 1€ = £0.85 was fixed back in the day and may be determined by NCSOFT. That’s the ratio for gems prices since day one.
Checking the exchange rate on Google, $54.99 = 46.59€, 46.59€ + 20% VAT = 55.91€
So don’t see the issue. In the US, we are charged tax on top of the cost, UK and European taxes are baked in..

4K support for the UI would please a bunch of players as well …
But that is a QoL issue.

Why do people think graphics API has anything to actually do with graphics ? DirectX 11 and 12 are APIs, nothing more, they provide an interface to the programmer, and don’t determine what kind of content you can create.
Even if they completely rewrote the game the graphics would not just magically look better, this is a myth that is used to sell bad games.
All you’d really gain is better CPU usage from thread-safe GPU model.
This would require anet to actually work on their engine and improve it. Something they have never shown any interest in doing. So no, it’s not gonna happen unfortunately.
They have massively improved the engine over the years, at launch the game could barely handle world bosses with 10-20 players, much less the kind of content that was introduced with HoT and LS3 and now PoF.
Even just Tequatl and Shatterer required significant internal retuning.
It’s not necessarily looks but many believe performance will automagically improve. Dx11/12 and Vulkan can handle a multithreaded renderer that Dx9 can’t. To support a redesigned renderer the in program data elements need to be thread safe which last we heard wasn’t. So they have a lot of work to the engine even before they chose which APIs to support.

I need to whitelist the site in the Disconnect extension to make that page to work. I imagine similar extensions in Chrome will cause similar issues.
RIP City of Heroes
They never said that non-upgraded accounts would get previous expansions for free.
HoT released as $50. If you buy PoV with HoT it too will be $50. So for the same price as the first expansion you can get the both. Also if you already have HoT it’s cheaper. Everyone wins.
There’s just one problem with this model:
Good luck ever seeing another player on the HoT maps once the new expo drops. There will be no reason for anyone to play them, except maybe for legendaries and a bit of gliding masteries. All new players will just read about how bad the story was and jump straight into PoF, rendering the maps dead.
This will, by extension, negatively effect the LS3 maps too, since they depend on people owning both HoT and LS3 to enter them.
We’re quickly heading towards a future where when you ask someone to port to you, they say “I don’t have HoT”, “I don’t have LS3”, “I don’t have PoF”, and this will only continue to build stacks with each new LS and expo.
On topic:
I am looking forward to the reduced cost for people who already own the game.
But if you want gliding in the PoF (as well as core Tyria) maps, you will need HoT. If you want the current elite specializations, you will need HoT (and maybe the HP there).

Do all versions get this shared inventory slot?
Yes
