Deposit them to your collectibles, then take the other character to the Mists and withdraw them.
When you see Black Powder go down, maybe you should try standing inside it so that they can’t HS without hitting you, which, amazingly enough, breaks their stealth and gives them Revealed.
Just as an aside from the blob blob blob chat:
/wave to the FSP Mesmer I duelled a few times at Bluewater (GBL) earlier this afternoon. Pretty sure I only won the first one because of the Scout respawning, started learning after that.
Always nice to fight good Mesmers.
Open EU Gandara.
I’ve run AR about a dozen times now, and on around 5 of those occasions, something has screwed us out of legitimate success for the achievement.
Firstly, just to show this isn’t a problem of knowledge, I know that:
- if you wipe, you can’t get the achievement in time
- you can’t get the achievement on your second try (unless it bugs in your favour…)
- you need to beat the fight in under 15 minutes.
As far as I can tell, sometimes the event just isn’t starting.
I’ve been timing the boss using the 20 minute food buffs from BEFORE the cutscene (since for some ungodly reason, it seems to be included in the event timer), as well as a stopwatch. All of the following attempts beat Horrik in under 15 minutes.
So far, I’ve had:
Red holobridge simply not spawning (event timer was present).
Holobridge spawning with event timer, but someone picked up the bundle and then logged off, which despawned the bundle (wow!).
And three occasions of the red holobridge spawning, but the event not appearing to be going, so even though we had between 1 and 2 minutes left on the timer, the achievement couldn’t be completed.
I really hope Arena.net does a bit more bug testing on upcoming Living World content, because time-limited achievements that are made difficult to achieve due to bugs is really not enjoyable.
I salute you sir, mind if I borrow this speech to use for AG next time we face RS?
Be my guest!
I rewrote a speech for you AM, I hope you like it:
We shall blob on to the end. We shall blob in EBG, we shall blob on the borderlands, we shall blob with growing lag and faltering fps, we shall defend our blobberland, whatever the server cost may be. We shall blob on the beaches, we shall blob on the landing grounds, we shall blob in the fields and in the streets, we shall blob in the hills; we shall never unblob.
Would you look at that, Gandara took leading points. It’s going to be an exciting contest between millers and gandara
I wouldn’t say exciting is the right word for it. I’m really at a loss why we would be leading in points. I suppose we have a very dedicated infantry running around EBG today
Looking at the score evolution, our nightcrew have had pretty much uncontested coverage.
No names are included to avoid spoilers.
First boss
Kill golems while not getting hit by lasers. Golems use grabs, so use Stability or get out of their LoS using boxes. One secret tip from your geometry teacher: there is less distance to cover if you run around the middle of the circle than the outside.
Stage 1: laser at ground height.
You can outpace this one, or you can all just stand on the boxes and fire at the golems with ranged weapons.
Stage 2: lasers and ground and top heigh.
This one you have to run around.
Stage 3: addititional, faster laser at ground height.
Use boxes to avoid the ground height laser and outrun the slow lasers.
Second boss
Do not kill the cannoneer.
Cannoneer & Duelist phase: the Duelist starts with 10 stacks of shield. Each stack reduces damage, like the Crazed Karka Queen. You remove these stacks by having her stand in the blue aoe pool (it looks like a blue-filtered Necromancer well). If you kill the Cannoneer, she gets all 10 stacks back and uses an AoE wave (remember F&F boss?). You can start doing damage to her once she isn’t at 10 stacks, but you’ll do more damage when most of the stacks are gone.
She will occasionally teleport to you; when she does this dodge roll immediately, or you will eat 10+ stacks of Bleeding.
Cannons phase: at 75, 50 and 10% (bug?) health, the Duelist will order cannon fire. Dodge it. If someone dies do not attempt to res; you’ll probably die, and it’s not at all hard to res people in the combat phase.
Don’t use your dodges unnecessarily, and if you can, bring a leap move.
Nonsense, MS don’t blob. You can see in this screenshot that they keep very carefully separated groups, with strict German efficiency.
Ah that was you! I was about to Banish you >=]
Denied by Shield of Absorption. :B
For those who don’t know about this WXP ability, it requires 115 points in the Defense Against Guards line.
“Gain 1 stack of Applied Fortitude when killing a guard, lord or supervisor.
Applied Fortitude: Each stacks grants 50 Vitality (max of 5 stacks; stacks are lost on death)"
The question here is whether this ability is too strong? 2500 extra health is a huge survivability buff to the player, and until this was added, most of the buffs were to a player’s effectiveness vs NPCs, or a player’s effectiveness when using specific siege weapons.
Applied Fortitude, however, buffs the player in practically all combat situations; you’re stronger in any size of player combat, and you’ll last longer when manning siege under enemy fire.
Is this a direction we want to take WXP traits in? Where once you’ve played enough WvW, you have a serious 1v1 advantage against another player who has played less?
AGBL was good fun this evening, cheers TUP and GWSA and various other guild groups.
Well since it’s apparently verboten to mention what I’ve seen from AM this week on the forum, I shall just say well played to all the FSP we met, lots of good fights from you, and look forward to seeing you all soon.
There’s no sound or graphic effect when you hit someone (just -15).
There’s no sound or graphic effect when you pick up an ability.
There’s no sound of graphic effect when you pick up a healing item.
There’s no announcer telling you how well you’re doing.
All of these things are fairly straight forward polish additions that would go a long way to improving the Dragonball experience for users.
I don’t know. Seems like a better tactic than losing the whole Gandara borderlands that was upgraded to t2-t3 while trying to keep AM hills instead :P
We had 4-6 people holding AM hills from a vastly larger blob; we wouldn’t have made much of a difference in our own BL, but we held Hills under attack for easily three quarters of an hour, and would’ve held it for longer with supply.
Equally, we were keeping 30 AM occupied; if they had just rolled through Hills, there’s no reason they wouldn’t just move right along to our Borderland next.
(edited by Bethryn.4087)
To the Tannoiser (?) commander from FSP in AMBL:
This is just my opinion on your tactics. If you screw with our supply lines while we’re defending Hills from AM, just so you can take Lake and a supply camp, you’re only screwing with yourself. We were holding 30+ AM in Hills; the moment you stopped us being able to build siege and repair, you doomed any chance you had of holding onto those towers.
With AM committed to Hills, you could easily have taken Bay and Woodhaven (which was t1); you’d have gotten more points and would’ve been able to keep them for longer.
We had lots of fun, and never run away, should we?
Mein Gott in Himmel, you’re 10 metres from the megablob behind you!
What heroes you are.
But that’s why every server hates AM.
Because above all else, they want to make WvW a horrific lagfest. If you engage them with equal numbers, that’s a 150+ fight; it’s guaranteed to make the game lag, and nobody gets to do anything fun.
But that’s the way they want to play, and that’s why everyone hates them.
When we start seeing an AM guild group by itself, and it’s using smart tactics and chooses strategic places on the map to go for, maybe then we’ll start having some respect for you.
But when the only thing we ever see from you is 60+ blobs, that even then often can’t beat smaller zergs, and when you basically just headbutt the nearest group of enemies; when you can’t make a sneak attack, or put any more thought into your charges than “just run at them”; when we see that, that’s why no server you’ve played has any respect for you.
Because you don’t play intelligently, you just play with brute force and stupidity.
That’s easily fixable. Just cap WvW rank at rank 40 or something. That doesn’t take that long to reach. Then, just like skill points, you would continue to get rank points thereafter that you can spend to unlock things.
I have 3 level 80’s and each of them is still earning skill points (and each has lots of skills that I never bothered to purchase). It could be the same way with rank points.
-ken
This has nothing to do with the title, and everything to do with the actual results of spending the points.
You choose to be inefficient; that’s up to you. In this case, players who do not want to be inefficient are forced to be by the nature of the system, or to give up a style of play they enjoy.
You just have to stop caring so much about your rank itself. I have like 90 levels spread across four toons. It just….doesn’t matter.
Play the game for fun, or don’t play.
Being competitive with your WvW abilities is fun. Playing many characters is fun.
You cannot do both at the same time presently.
P.S. Don’t make rude suggestions like “or don’t play”.
You can level a character to 80 in a couple of days (not to mention that you can put assets gained by other characters – such as gold, laurels, dungeon tokens and badges of honour – to use in accelerating an alt’s progression).
Reaching the peak of WXP takes months.
You’re putting the cart before the horse.
“On my tanky guardian, I man rams a lot. Maybe I should take ‘siege might’ to make things a little bit faster. I never man any siege on my roamer thief, maybe I’ll take something else on him.” – Someone at some point.
This is what’s called a false dichotomy.
You’re still having to spend more time to get the non-Siege Might upgrades on your Thief, but you’re not getting Siege Might too.
I might spend 30 hours and get Siege Might for said Guardian, and also for my Thief, even if they don’t use it.
You would spend 30 hours to get it for your Guardian, and then you’d still have to spend more time to get something else for the Thief.
There isn’t a benefit to doing things this way; it’s just creating a large time sink that, most of all, punishes players for playing multiple characters.
As someone who has 6 WvW characters, I’ve resigned myself to generally playing one – from playing 6 before the patch – because if I want to be competitive, not to mention useful to my team, I want to have the most additional abilities available to me at any given time.
+100 Vitality from Defense Against Guards? An incredible buff.
The Arrow Cart Mastery? Hugely necessary in the current environment
Supply Capacity? Amazing.
All of these things are long-term, highly beneficial goals that you only slow yourself down from getting if you split time onto alts.
Playing the game in varied way (that helps avoid burnout, I might add) should not be forcing players to fall behind the power curve.
And for players without alts, there is no downside to letting other players with alts get WXP ranks. If those players choose to get alts in the future, they lose nothing, and if they never do, the playing field is still equal.
Third POV: specialization is distinction and another level of strategy.
“Oh, you need someone to effectively man that oil before it’s destroyed? I have that mastery on one of my alts, just let me switch to them and run back here, and then we can defend properly!”
Said nobody ever.
No, I did not do any of my personal story with anybody else. It’s a bug.
Given the Personal Story bugs thread is now gone, I thought I’d just quickly ask:
If you have a personal story bug (for example, in my case, halfway through the Tonn story chain, I was switched onto the Apatia story chain), can the support team roll your personal story back?
Didnt really give a fight when we got it down tho… cause u wasted full supply on a wall that had 3 trebs on it… we were laughing hysterically in teamspeak and said they must have some pugs that want repair achievement, We trebbed from a paper tower with 0 acs, but I guess you were busy tiering down our entire borderland while we did that and went to bed afterwards
Hey, those repairs were worth a great deal of WXP!
Also, the monumentally bad counter-treb placement was pretty hilarious. People twice tried to build trebs exactly where your trebs were hitting. It was a thing of beauty.
Had an epic fight in sm today! to bad I needed to leave, but we will have it at least once this week
Yeah, we intentionally burnt out the SM supply in the hopes of getting some good battles, and you guys didn’t disappoint! <3
I leave for one day! ONE DAY!
Meh this thread was fun to catch up on Keep going people!
That’s nothing.
I leave EBG for one hour and Gandara manages to lose Jerrifer’s. After all the time we’d spent fortifying, defending, idling in it!
This matchup is giving people far too much free time to go on the forum and troll.
While I understand that Gandara blobbing is deeply annoying for you, if you only attack one place, that’s where all our population is going to go.
The blobbing isn’t an active decision on our part, it’s just the reaction to there only really being one area where anything is happening.
Yeah, sorry about EBG Arborstone. We kinda got carried away with upgrading overnight.
Jerrifer’s state might sort of be entirely my fault, but the rest lies solely at the (pink) feet of Ravivkk.
Wildcreek Post, you were a good home to us for most of this morning. We salute you.
Once you have the tech for the one-time reset of WXP Skills, work out a way to do it for just one player, and stick it on an item in the gem store.
Free money.
Can confirm that some players are not losing their “No Siege Placement” buff on exiting spawn.
Grenth currently uncontested on Gandara (EU)
I had a chat with the support guys over similar problems in WvW with large-scale packet loss; just reposting two bits here for public consumption.
1) You can get the IP of a particular WvW server by typing “/IP” into in-game chat. You can then throw that into either a standard tracert or PingPlotter to get a detailed idea of where packet loss is occurring.
2) After doing this, one of the support technicians suggested I try using a proxy service; I used WTFast at their suggestion, and this eliminated all the problems I was having connecting to, and playing, WvW during peak hours.
I suggest doing the same, as WTFast has a 30 day free trial, and if you have no connection problems while using it, it would indicate that the problem is outside A.net’s servers.
It was open for a minute on Gandara just now.
Then the patch hit…
Mysteriously, they all have the same WXP rank and PvE title.
In honour of our lost waypoint, we have given AG Borderland a new coat of paint.
Dear AG,
Is there something we should know about Dawn’s Eyrie? An oil plot, a gold vein, the real Mona Lisa maybe?
Yours,
Gandara
Honestly, I see KISS – during primetime – with a large tail of PUGs more often than not.
Now, if AG is so starved of commanders that only KISS and FURY (and more recently NR) can tag up, and that’s why there are always so many pugs following you, that’d make sense.
But given a server your size, I’d be surprised if that was the case.
More often than not, our guild groups (Dius, MM, xXx, JDGE) will run with Commander off during primetime, to avoid attract PUGtails.
If you’re consistently deciding not to do that, then you are intent on attracting PUGs to create a zerg.
Which is ‘ok’ by itself, but it’s silly to just try and make it seem as if you have no hand in it happening.
Regarding the fight for Bay that ended a couple of minutes ago:
Leg Specialist is, er, yeah.
In conclusion, AG and BB blobs are full of ducks.
Same guy you spotted before?
http://i.imgur.com/xgriZhL.jpg
FWIW, Dius were trying to make sure nobody defended those towers so you could retake asap.
Dear Badge Bay,
Many thanks! I haven’t had to pay repair costs all day!
Much love,
Gandara!
Another Opinions! one that I forgot to add:
- Make the first Tower, Keep and possibly Stonemist Castle capture per day reward players with a rare or better item, similar to how world events had added in the February patch Just a nice little reward for getting something done in WvW each day
Oh, and I just remembered another one, but can’t edit it in due to post length.
- Siegerazer resets if all his placed siege has been destroyed, or after a certain time limit expires. It’s counter-intuitive, but players leave Siegerazer alive after destroying all his siege, as doing so prevents the enemy server from starting another break-out event. While I accept this is a legitimate tactic at the moment, the event should be redesigned to prevent this behaviour.
