My biggest complaint with this map is how unfriendly it is to melees. Charge skills etc are a nightmare in this map. Very frustrating.
I am on the fence with this myself. For a killshot build, Gunflame is a no brainer win. The quickness + interrupt on gunflame = amazing. Bloody roar works well with it as well to provide boost to damage.
That said, for a standard axe/shield + gs build, I am very torn. I personally in lower ranks (amber/emerald) seem to be performing better with str than berserker.
Berserker burst skills are generally lower damage (though better in other ways. For example, axe will hit harder in non berserker mode, but the leap is significantly better and more likely to hit in berserker.)
I’ve also been experimenting in unranked with a condi build instead, but to get the proper traits I need to drop discipline which makes me slightly concerned for both movement speed and condi clear.
I’m also unsure how adrenal health works with berserker when in berserk mode. Is it considered level 3 the entire time? Is it lowered when you use your adrenaline? Since when in berserk mode you only have to fill 10 adrenaline, it’s a bit confusing.
What is expertise stat?
Condi duration.
Hi all,
Long time mesmer wanna be but never took the time to do it. Looking for a fun condi class, and heard amazing things about a dire condi build for mesmer. How is this in wvw? As that’s my main game mode. Both roam and zerg.
Thanks all!
Wow, what the heck kind of damage is this?! One attack at 12.4k damage!! Holy..
Press dodge. Warrior mitigated.
:P
I love the killshot videos, but I would love to see different style builds from the different warriors of Cakewalk. We have 3 separate kill shot videos, so it’s a bit redundant. But still useful to learn from.
I don’t think OP was claiming it was overpowered, just curious how it was possible. :P
A bit off topic, so this will likely be locked, but I was a very huge Tribes Ascend and Smite player. To the point where I actually applied to work at HiRez at one point. (I will be honest and disclose that I was not happy with how that was professionally handled.) I have a friend who also has worked heavily with them as a contractor.
I will be honest, the game SMITE is amazing, and their new game paladins is also fairly awesome. That said, Hi Rez is a very toxic company. The smite community has a “clich” so to speak and if you are not in it, you may run into a rough time becoming a content creator etc. Hi Rez themselves actually tends to “embrace” this and hire all of the content creators and whatnot within the that small circle as well, which makes the problem worse. (Example: Diem, drybear, mamacita, etc were all streamers before hi rez hired them.)
The company also has a rough history. People spent tons of money on tribes ascend, and it was basically dropped on its head after it was not profitable. In their defense however, they at least left the servers up, and now 3 devs have taken the time to try to “resurrect” it. I am concerned for what will happen if SMITE suffers a similar fate. They also went heavily into the “random chest reward” direction for skins and voicepacks. I left right after season 1 ended, and it was quite disturbing to see how they went from the old system to the new chest one.
Over all, SMITE is a fun game, but a different type. It is F2p, and the god pack is dirt cheap if you decide to invest, so I advise checking it out, but be wary of Hi Rez. They make some fun products, but most of the staff originates from a non gaming company and many of the server stability issues and patch issues they’ve had show it. They are also relatively new in the space when it comes to making a profitable game, so they tend to swing the pendulum overboard in various directions when making corporate direction swings (In my opinion) and the end users feel that in some cases.
Definitely, they tried to make warriors strictly brute dps with no access to reliable support builds (banners, shoutbow, etc.) which people wouldn’t be mad about if the dps builds were not outclassed by everything.
A glassy hit and run gs does not sound like a warrior, hit and run sounds like a thief. I should be able to take hits as a warrior.
I don’t know if I agree with that. Warrior does not necessarily mean tanky. Warrior just means master of arms. There are plenty of fantasy setting warriors which were dex based rather than toughness based and relied on dodging and overpowering/parrying etc.
In fact, a berserker flat out went in, ripped stuff up, and generally died after the fact from his wounds. :P
Honestly, Vaans and these kinds of videos have made me interested in the warrior class. I basically really like playing war. Never thought I would, and these videos are what made me try it. Yay cakewalk
I’m having a bit of an issue finding a good build that is not for roaming. There are plenty of roaming scrapper builds, but in the large zergs I feel pretty powerless to do more than spam mortars.
What do we bring to wvw?
Wait, it’s not normal to have your class issues unaddressed? I played Engineer at launch and ranger until HoT…
Druid part is interesting in and of itself, but not that exciting for me.
The real question is: do our pets still die easily and have silly AI? If so… I am not sure what the cool part is other than that they look awesome?
Think you need to rethink a bit. There are no healers in this game and if you come in to it presenting your self as a healer and will stay on water through a dungeon, people will go awkward with you. Elementalist are not healers. They are a awsome class with lots of support but they also do good damage and cc, so no ele should focus on healing. They can support with water fields, but those are useless unless noone blasts them, and even so a ele should only briefly pass the wateratunament if it really really is needed and switch again asap.
So when you decide what class to pick dont make the choice out of a role you have in mind, make it from what you prefer playing. If you die to fast then you should rather focus on why this is and fix the build, check with other within the same class, what they do when under heavy fire, what they use and how they get away.
The meta battle webside explain each build very well and you can pick up advice there that works even if you don’t exactly pick the build you read up about. http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki
How factual is this though? Is this just a mentality thing? Why cant someone play mostly support with some light dps and cc?
I think you need to read up on GW2 combat.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/CombatMore specifically the GW2 rolls of damage, support, and control.
You can’t sit back and cast targeted (don’t exist) or AE heals on players while doing minimal if any damage and expect that to be a meaningful contribution. Not only that, but whatever contribution you do make is null if you haven’t done enough damage to warrant getting a drop/reward since that’s how participation is calculated AFAIK.
This does not explain why all this saids is you should dps and not use support.
Why is because you can support and heal while still doing meaningful other things and that’s the intended design of the combat in game. Sure, you can sit back and just cast heals and support buffs, but someone else can do that and still do damage or provide other useful things. Essentially, it’s not that you CAN’T do it, its just that other people can do that + more and you are essentially limiting yourself then.
I love this look.
That bad huh? :P Ok! :P
Hello all,
I’ve returned to GW2 after a long hiatus and finally am picking a character to level to cap. Loving my necro in all the builds even with all of the disadvantages compared to other classes. For leveling I’m running an MM build.
I was originally specced 20 into DM, 10 into curses, and began working on BM. This worked amazingly well but I noticed I was limiting myself from my minions damage as I level more so I wanted to try putting points into spite (So I can eventually hit 20 into spite as well for the +minion damage). Vulnerability etc makes sense as well from axe and focus.
I tried dagger/warhorn a bit when I was doing tough fights and it was ok but I find myself using axe/focus and staff most of the time. It seems my primary weapon is currently staff as the mark of blood spam keeps my pets alive more often etc. I know vulnerability would let me benefit from my pets more but it’s also rare to find just a single mob to fight when leveling.
Am I nuts for using staff as my primary weapon even on quick 1v1 fights and switching to axe when i need to say, apply vuln or focus fire down a single npc?
I honestly liked sceptre/dagger and staff more as a combo while leveling but then I’ll lose out on significant damage bonuses from the minions soon so I’m getting used to a spite point build for now.
Thanks,.
Bez
Hi
am i missing some PVP NPC which have some rewards, because i dont see skins like reward, i checked mists NPC and i dont see reason why play PVP if i dont get something usefull from it
The word you are looking for is “Fun”.
That is what spvp is for.
I personally playing my elementalist found that once you are used to attunement swapping it becomes second nature. It helps I played classes similar to this in other games (Bard in Everquest, etc.)
I’m confused by people saying ele sucks at low level.
I’ve run d/d and s/d and I find that I kill faster than most classes, and have no problem surviving.
how does the Thief 2 Hit KO with backstab + stealth + steal?
in Elementalist

Ah. Gotcha. Thanks: )

Knote I am curious of something.
Your method relies on stealth via steal, yet you are not relying on the stealth via steal. Cloak and Dagger is hardly worth the damage. It’s used for stealth. If you are stealthing on steal, why C&D and then backstab when you can c&D after the backstab and then backstab again.
I agree partially, except kits/utility skills lose benefits from weapons when equipped.
Stats on weapons(including shield) and sigils don’t affect kits.
However, some of the rifle skills are indeed useful for my engineer. Getting beat on by a warrior? overcharged shot, get some distance, drop a bomb/mine, gain some distance, switch to grens.
Face it, the naga razer is the only thing that makes this class bareable

I have no problem at all switching kits.
utility is on r,c,v.
No problems
When they represent you and them both receive the benefits of being in the guild, they get access to what ever you allow there rank to access and the guild chat, and you get there influence points as they lv up, if there not representing then its a waste for everyone. (influence points are used to buy upgrades for the guild)
And i would support the automatic option to represent the fisrt guild you join, sometimes you forget or just don’t know.
So the people in my guild who doesn’t represent they doesn’t mean anything to my guild?
Yes that is the problem the most people don’t know it and then they don’t represent. My way to get represents are just by asking but not all the members will or can reply. And if the people who doesn’t represent the guild not give influence and don’t see the guild chat and stuff it’s pointless to have them in the guild right?
This is because you can be in multiple guilds at once. So you have to be able to toggle on the fly.
Great! Glad to see people still love their engie heh.
Well. I fell in love with engineer after some leveling of each class. I understand rifle/pistol damage doesn’t scale like a heartseeker thief, but I like the versatility etc.
So I delved into the engineer forums.
Oh. My. God. If I relied on that forum I would think engineers are the crappiest class in the history of MMO’s. So then I followed this to other forums for the other classes I played. The only forum that did NOT have whining in it, was the warrior forum.
Holy hell people, just enjoy your class. I may not be the best in wvwvw but I will enjoy dropping bombs on people’s head.
This post has no purpose except to say: wow. Just play the bloody game.
Ya know I realized last night when I started trying my gren/bomb build I never really used my rifle. I only equipped it since I was starting to go precision/power gear.
Pistol/shield might be very handy for the offchance I need to just reflect some ranged damge back. Hrm. Since 90% of my time is in gren/bomb kit the utility of shield might be nice.
I was also using elixir B but that + medkit = nearly unlimited swiftness but having that last slot might be useful.
Id honestly forget elixir B.
Its not that great.
I’d consider going something like:
Med kit, bomb kit, grenade kit and utility goggles
Or.
Elixir H, bomb kit, grenade kit and elixir R/SYou will need a stun break in your build, its kind of mandatory.
Elixir B is just out-shined by the med kit.
I’ll experiment with this tonight. Thank you so much for the assistance. I think I have found my new leveling build (Obviously trait wise I’m unable to get half of the required traits for now, but that’s ok.)
My build, that I have used for ages and ages is:
Rifle, Elixir H, Bomb kit, Grenade kit, Elixir R/C (Depending on who I face)
I have to say, the damage from bombs and grenades in a power build is amazing. I’d go for a full rifle power build as really, grenades and bombs are majority power weapons. Not condition damage weapons.
This is what I’m noticing. I just hate the way grenades require me to target every shot (not the end of the world but I found rolling around with pistols more fun personally heh.)
bombs work great for kiting melee though. :P
I assume you are stacked mostly in explosives/firearms then trait wise?
Yeah. Also went with points in alchemy for faster elixirs and condition removal on elixirs.
But main plan is to get 30 points in explosives.
Gotcha. So 30 explosive as first priority. Makes sense.
Thank you.

I’m currently still low on my engie. 24 if I recall, but I’m having a hard time deciding how best to level.
Most of the gear I found was condition damage, so I was rocking dual pistols but I had no idea what kits to use (I was using 2 turrets and elixir b). After some reading everyone is raving about grenades + bomb kit for leveling. Seems legit. Swapped a few condition items for power items. Seems to be decent, but grenade targetting is ANNOYING. I was thinking a p/p bomb build might be useful, but p/p are condition based and bombs are for the most part power based, so my gearing is off then.
tldr; No idea how to level. Enjoy p/p but no idea what kits to use with it. Like bomb hate grenades really. hulp?
