Actually, many “vets” should probably make new character and go through new tutorials (from my ingame experience).

So yeah, theres that.

I wasn’t going to say this, but it’s not untrue. There are a lot of 80s out there who really didn’t learn how to play the game that well.

Not to say having the new system would have definitely helped…but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t hurt.

The gating, dumbing down, restrictive gameplay wont’t hurt? Whatever happened to horizontal progression and play like you wan’t? And no, vertical progression is no progression.

Who actually "like" the low level change?

Its restrictive, dumbed down and gated to oblivion. Its terrible, and it has nothing to do with progression.

I just restarted playing this game. Made a new alt. The new leveling experience is not horizontal anymore. Its timegated, restricted, dumbed down and the fun is gone. I have the feeling that this is only the beginning and doesnt end with the first 15 levels in the future. So i must say, the motivation to play is gone.

it doesnt end with the first 15 levels, it continues throughout the whole leveling process.

Youre right, i was still used to the old (pre feature pack 1) trait system :-)

‘i just made an alt to test it and it’s boring’

uhm.

of course it’s boring to you. you know all of this stuff already. someone who is genuinely new who doesn’t know it yet isn’t apt to feel the same way.

And i wasnt new when i fist started playing? So i do have reference, dont i.

Just made an alt to test it. The beginning experience is very boring. They Took out everything that made the beginning areas good (and a learning experience). And not to talk about the timegating of basic game mechanics, its not good.

This IS insulting.

Bolbo Baggins.8594

This is just a mayor time gating of the player experience (grind) . Whatever happened to the horizontal progression. This is becoming more and more restrictive gameplay. And its an insult to players who know how to use their head. It would be fine if it would be optional, but it isnt (just made a new char for the sake of testing, its terribly restrictive and forced)

Will level cap raise?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bolbo Baggins.8594

Bolbo Baggins.8594

If that ever happens, it will be the day i will log of. No brainless level grind please (and gear grind, because it will destroy the worth of all the gear etc.). There are already to many asian grinders out there (and the well named game i shall not call its name).
But i dont think that will happen. Who brings in the cash? Not the grinders, but the people who combine gaming with a thing called life.

They used to package these things with tradional expansions (of content) in the past (and much more, guildhalls, capes, heros professions, skills etc.). Now its smeared out in 3 weeks of time with PR. That way it looks underwelming if your used to the good old whe get one big chunk of everything in a paid expansion. That feels a lot meatier, doesn’t it

Bolbo Baggins.8594

I don’t think that it’s so much about people not desiring challenging or intelligent game play. Keep in mind that the people that had hours and hours to play such games a decade ago are now adults with families and jobs. They still enjoy gaming, but the games of a decade ago, the challenges implemented where time consuming. This is something that many responsible adults don’t really have a lot of in their busy, “always connected” lives.

I happen to be of that generation :-) There wasn’t any leveling in that time (no timegating), so you could right jump in the game. A massive TBS/ RTS like Rome Total war was less time consuming then guildwars 2 is now :-) But challenging on Hard mode playing as an underdog faction against the Romans.

Did YOU ever find it hard?

Bolbo Baggins.8594

Never, i found it as userfriendly as possible. It learns itself. I see a disturbing trend in games over the years where everything is toned down and timegated. Its counterchallenging, counterimmersive and counterinteligent.
Remember the time games where actualy challenging and emmersive? I do. The last decade they became more and more casual. People who want to play games but have no desire for challenge, immersion and intelligent gameplay. Only, look at my shinies.
Its not only in online rpgs but also in shooters, RTS, TBS etc. They used to be challenging and fun at the same time.

Wardrobe and Minis

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bolbo Baggins.8594

Bolbo Baggins.8594

Any minis currently in your bank or bank collection tab will still be in your bank when you log in. You’ll need to take them out individually and choose whether to unlock them for your account or dispose of them some other way. In order to make this easier, all minis of the same type now stack in inventory
You will no longer deposit minis into bank collections. Once a mini is removed from the bank, the collection space for that mini in the materials area of the bank will disappear. Those collections are being moved to the Wardrobe. New achievements will also now be available for completing Wardrobe account unlocks for the series 1, 2, and 3 minis.

Question. Does this mean the only way to keep the minis acount bound free is stash them in valuable inventory space?

"Downed State" frightening for new players?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bolbo Baggins.8594

Bolbo Baggins.8594

For me personally it was a learning experience to have the downed state for the first time. I found it fantastic when going down i got the change to fight back and get up. Every time you’ll get better in it and eventualy you can counter your self back on the feet more then you permadie. Best learning is practice.
Its getting a little too casual with this change (The Sims casual). its not a gamebreaker, but its annoying to players who know how to use their head.
It would be better if the’re where some kind of advisor (Like in Rome Total War) who tutors the more casual beginning player with the basics of the game.
And it should be optional (so the vets can switch it of)

Opposed to the other well known game i shall not name. This game is made to be casual friendly (stated on the box and in the manyfesto). If you dont like that, there are many other games for you.

Bolbo Baggins.8594

My personal opinion. I dont want a me, myself and i situation when playing guildwars. I want to be part of a greater story side by side with a band of heroes (npcs and pcs). You need computer characters to tell a story (just like in a tv series with the actors).
I think if that wasnt the case guildwars would turn into a (virtual) reality soap (just like the terrible reality soap programs on tv).
I personaly like the trailers like they are right now btw.

New laptop gets too hot

I had an enourmous buildup of heath with my new gaming laptop some months ago. It was caused by the wooden table which it stood on. the wood kept absorbing the heat underneed. a glass table was also not doing the trick. An old metal pc casing under the laptop did the trick. Its much cooler now when being pushed to the limit. You also have metalic standards for you laptop which have the same effect.

Not agreed, i find the megaserver update a good one. No more Server Seperation and elitism. Finally the cities and areas are full of life. Much better to build a community then seperated. Reminds me of Gw 1 where the community whas also one and not fragmented. Of course there are starting problems but that will be sorted out within time. And you can learn something about respect, you might wanna do something about your language.

Ridiculous male faces

Posted by: Bolbo Baggins.8594

Agreed, apart from the Clint Eastwood face they all look like feminine renaissance noble teens. I remember the day (guildwars 1) i could make a human with a fierce barbarian face (with the barbarian headband/crown on his head). The shift from mediëval to renaissance is showing. And what i also miss is chesthair (only one).
More manly faces (and chest with hair) would be appreciated in the future :-)
And Natural body types with chesthair. Its all gym bodies right now.

in instanced group content yes. In the open world content no, there would still be a big zerg anyway.
