I have tried to do Cliffside 94 today for over 3 hours and over 30 full team swaps from LFG. Spent over an hour just trying to clear the chest, and the arms are no possible. 82 is so bad with poison trail that we gave up before we even reached the chest due to anticipating how bad it would be.

Maybe if you have a guild or an organized group to work with, but for anyone working from LFG, 82 is now the most difficult fractal in the game and 94 is in the top 5 (none of which are in 95-100).

Also you forget that we still have social awkwardness at 90+, which makes the corridor in the arm seal section of cliffside a death trap. You don’t HAVE anywhere to go to avoid the issue; the whole fractal is about limiting your available area. Thaumnova and molten furnace aren’t. There is a reason everyone always did 82, not 94, for the T4 Cliffside when it was up.

In the latest LW, the worthless NPC issue continues. Look at the damage Rytlock does during Taimi’s Game. It is barely perceptible on the scale of the health bars. My hits do about 50x more damage than him. If I had a party member who did that little damage, I would tell them to go level their character properly and then come back. Why are we bothering to team with these people if they are level 2 characters? The NPCs shouldn’t be able to do the encounter for you, but they can’t be this pathetic either.

If it must be linked to Rata Novus, there is a portal in the generally accessible area of the city that could be used, since we have precedent for redirecting Rata Novus portals on command. Would be a bit annoying since access to that area is linked to the TD meta, though.

You are forgetting that you never know if or when you might want to make a new character. You have to keep the scrolls indefinitely against that possibility, because they are too expensive to go out and keep buying over and over.

Cliffside has major issues because it’s an area denial map. It forces you into tight areas, either with moving AOEs (chest) or tight spaces (arms). Both Social Awkwardness and Toxin Trail are all about area denial, but when you are already on a map that is doing it, you end up with no way to stay out of the bad zone. You can literally have no place to go to avoid the toxin trail, and no where to move to avoid social awkwardness. There is a good reason everyone avoided 94 like the plague before the patch, but now you can’t do either of the T4 Cliffsides without this problem manifesting

Please put more thought into which fractal instabilities go into which fractals. There are some that simply shouldn’t be used in some fractals due to design. Assigning them in arbitrary 10-level blocks is creating a lot of issues.

The biggest example is Cliffside. The entire fractal (except the boss) is about forcing you fight in cramped locations where you cannot do much to move. Toxin trail can end up covering the entire available area making it unavoidable, and social awkwardness can make the arm seals almost impossible to do since the enemies follow you into the hallway, where maintaining the needed separation (especially when being attacked from both sides, which tends to happen at higher levels where full clearing takes so long that the seals regen to full faster than you can do it) is generally not possible.

The design of the fractal, not the fractal level, is the main driver of difficulty in combination with the instability, and the new instabilities can completely throw off the difficulty progression if used in the wrong fractal.

Too Much Account Binding

It’s really out of control. I have multiple bank tabs full of items I can’t sell, can’t salvage, can’t Mystic Forge, and which are too kittenty to be worth equipping or have no use. We need to at least allow salvaging of these items to clear space.

Includes (but not limited to):
Crafter Backpacks (the skins are cool, the items are not useful due to low stats)
Items gained from the personal story (level up)*
Items gained from the story (special, ie Broken Caladbolg)
Former event items that are no longer of use (Levvi’s Device, etc.)
Collection items (the unsellable ones)
Account bound materials (airship oil, auric dust, etc.)

*Can be forged but isn’t worth it since they are low level and thus can’t give you a precursor for the cost of 4 exotics

I just had to nearly solo the first 2 meta steps right before posting this because no one could find there way to the Grub Pit. This is not a hypothetical issue. Admittedly, it could be less of a problem later in the day (although we had plenty for the later meta steps around Techu Nuhoch, so it’s not like the map was empty), but there were plenty of people who did not have wallows and thus couldn’t find the place. A POI would fix the problem easily.

It is a lot of trouble to get people to the Grub Pit for the opening parts of the Nuhock Meta. Without a POI, people can’t find the place. It makes getting the Nuhock Meta started annoying, as we sometimes see very small groups or even single players doing the first 2 steps just because people can’t find the place.

Yes, there is a wallow, which people can use if they remember it, but not everyone does and not everyone has wallows unlocked. Trying to type in multipart instructions on how to get there in the middle of an event is frustrating and potentially lethal. A POI on the grub pit would make it easy to direct people to the location, and would not complicate map completion since there is a wallow to get you right there.

Do the YoA achivements if I can't finish?

The issue isn’t if there will be a season 5 (we know there will be), the issue is if season 5 will continue on from season 4 or if we will have completely new achievements to replace the current system. If the achievements continue, then it’s worth doing them now since you will continue working on them next season. If they are new, then there is no point doing them since the progress (and especially any tickets you spend) will be wasted.

So I am not going to be able to finish the Year of Ascension achievements before the end of the season. The question is, should I still try to finish as much as I can, and in particular should I spend my PVP tickets on items for the achievements, or should I forget about it completely and just wait for next year? Especially important for the tickets, since you don’t get very many of them. Are these going to happen again next year? Will progress carry over?

Eventually you start getting extra account bound Ascended that you don’t have the inventory space for (usually because you are having bad luck and getting tons of Ascended headgear boxes when you need shoulders or something similar, rather than because everyone is fully geared). Since all Ascended are account bound, your options are salvage or trash if you don’t need them.

Why are there only 9 choices? I have seen plenty of people in game with hair styles I can’t pick. Reserving a few for the restyle kit is annoying but understandable from a business standpoint, but having less that 1/2 the available looks of some other races at character creation is not. There are 18 choices in the restyle kit only, so twice as many options for Asura in post than at creation (similarly for the charr). I CAN’T come up with an Asura I like the look of to start with because none of the available hairstyles work for me, and I can’t tell if I will be able to come up with a look later, assuming I get a makeover kit, since I can’t even see the styles that are available later.

In contrast, Humans have 17 creation hairstyles and 18 post hairstyles.
Norn have 20 creation and 18 post, the most of any race.
Sylvari have 10 creation and 19 post, which is also not great but at least include a better variety of non-specialized hairstyles in the initial set.
Even Charr have 9 creation and 18 post, and similarly lack good creation hairstyles.

My team wiped, and when we went to retry, I couldn’t get through the door. They ended up doing it with only 4 people. Supposedly the gate to the right is supposed to let you in, but it does not.

Team colors can be confusing. Your team always has blue labels and your enemy always has red, but you could be the red team fighting the blue team. So you can end up needing to attack your own team color. It would work much better if you were always blue and the enemy were always red regardless of spawn position, or, if you want to keep the fixed spawn positions and colors, if both sides were always fixed colors that are neither blue nor red.

There is plenty of room on the selection screen to have more characters visible. It would be really nice to have at least 9 visible without scrolling, or 1 of each class, as that is the most common number of characters.

Account-wide recipes are a great thing. Finally, we don’t have to buy tons of recipes, or shuffle recipes around through the bank. However, there is one major issue: crafting leveling. Crafting leveling depends largely on crafting XP from discovery. Since recipes are now account wide, if you ever need to level a second character in a discipline, they cannot discover anything that you have ever crafted before. This can as much as double the amount of crafting that needs to be done to reach a level, and is especially painful in the 400-500 realm. There needs to be a mechanism for compensating for the crafting XP deficit that we now have.

I have tried every one of my (very few) weapons, every kit, and everything else I can think of. I can deal with them on every other class, but on engineer there isn’t any weapon I can use to deal QUICK AOE (all the aoe is either in a delay, a super long CD, or has flight time that means they aren’t there when it lands), and then I can’t change to kits fast enough to even try anything if I manage to rally.

Toughness changes are poorly signaled in fractals. FOr example, after dealing 50% of damage to the Thaumnova anomaly, it suddenly gets harder to damage, with no visual or other indication. This renders the healthbar partly meaningless (The first 50% is about 5% of the 2nd health bar in how much it takes to burn down) and distorts the players’ ability to tell how well they are doing. There need to be clear indicators (and not just hidden among tons of icons below the health bar) as to what is going on.

It would be really nice if we had a guesting system so guilds could get together for WvW. Right now, if your guild doesn’t happen to be all on the same server, you can’t do any WvW together, and transferring is too expensive to do often. As long as the servers of everyone involved are not in direct opposition at the time, it would really help to let guilds all squad up and go to a WvW together.

There are groups who do it everyday. The NA post reset group is very good. You do need to LFG onto the right map. The rewards for it are pretty bad for the time investment, though, once you have all the mastery points.

This is not the point. The fact that these game effecting unlocks exist at all is an issue. It doesn’t matter how hard or easy they are to unlock. People playing other modes will use their gold elsewhere and thus be at a disadvantage in PVP. This disproportionately effects new and returning players (who don’t have 900 gold in the bank and may not have gems) and those who don’t PVP much.

For example, after the recent removal of Cleric’s, Magi’s has become the amulet of choice for Elementalists… an amulet locked behind a 10G paywall. So those who either don’t want to or can’t afford to get this are at a disadvantage to those who can. AKA, the mode is made unfair by these.

Also, quite frankly, what is the purpose of these lockouts in the first place?

This isn’t just an issue in LS3. Go back to the personal story and watch none of your allies do any amount of damage to enemies in the later story steps, while the entire ‘party’ wipes repeatedly. In most instances during the personal story, you do more damage in 1 attack then any NPCs who are with you will do to all the enemies in every fight in the entire instance. The NPCs do not scale AT ALL as far as I can tell through the course of the personal story.

The Seer Pants on females override any kind of boots that you try to put on over them, showing through things that should go over them (Exalted Boots, Masquerade Boots, Winged boots, etc.) but also still showing the parts of the boot that stick out of the leg, ie cuff, bracers, ruffles, etc. The result is that a very large portion of the wardrobe (essentially anything that isn’t just a shoe) cannot be used with the Seer Pants without looking exceedingly strange.

The amount of and range of the AA on the map is too much. You almost want to avoid gliding, due to how much you are getting pelted. Not only can they penetrate stealth, but the rocks are heat seeking; you can’t get away from them no matter what you do.

How can we call PVP fair if several Amulets, Sigils, and Runes are locked behind a gold wall (and not a trivial one for most players)? This means people who may not have gold to spare to unlock them are at a disadvantage vs those who do. Anything that one person has, for any reason, that another does not has the potential to tilt the game in their favor. Either everything is available to everyone and it is fair (if not balanced), or some things are not available and PVP becomes unfair and possibly pay (in-game currency) to win.

If you are going to do build templates let them be full templates, including weapons and armor. Also, make the PvP and WvW segmentation include weapon and armor changes, so we stop popping back into PVE with the wrong stuff equipped or losing track of what weapons we had is what spot in PvP.

Since the last patch, several fractals are not ending properly. Even though the fractal is over and the return screen is up blocking your view, enemies are still spawning in and attacking.

One idea I don’t understand:

Improve sorting
Most people don’t have separate oiled, equipment and etc inventory bags, if that’s what you mean. I personally, just have a bunch of 20-slot bags from random events (eg the Karka and Halloween 20-slots), and some fractal 20-slots. This change would only benefit a tiny percent of the playerbase that actually use different bags for their “intended” purpose.

I agree with all your suggestions besides the one mentioned above and the “More display options” idra, because frankly, to me, it seems useless.

Good ideas overall though!

Quite frankly, what I really would like to see is sorting turned into a generalized mechanic (ie you can set what you want) instead of linked to what bags you happen to have. This has always struck me as a little dumb. But I wanted to make a suggestion inside the existing system since the post is about QOL, not full on redesigns.
