If you aren’t doing speed runs though, the class is fine.
Except the simpliest and most boring skill rotation ever… pop big cooldowns and spam 111111111 until cooldowns again (powernecro).
There is no valid reason to not having dueling in game. It should have been there since launch.
Fairly useless… it is good as l2p gear but once you are past this point, there is no real reason to keep it.
My recommendation: salvage it and get zerker gear.
@Devata
The MMO community is more fractured now, with less people playing each game. I don’t believe there’ll ever be another WoW, because WoW only got where it did by coming out when it did.In the end, there’s only you saying this would work, with no real evidence to support it, except Anet did it years ago.
I strongly believe it wouldn’t work now, but even if I thought it would, I still couldn’t ask a company to risk losing everything on such a small amount of evidence.
Yes and no. There were EQ1 and other MMOs out at the time. But what WoW did was really create and vitalize the genre. Blizzard banked on their wildly popular IP of strategy games to make a great MMO. But They didn’t hit their peak till Lich King. Why because they kept improving the game. They removed things that were not fun and introduced things that were fun. This is something that ANet has proven they are not capable of nearly with almost every release of a content patch.
Granted that last statement is personal opinion of course. But looking at launch population and current it would seem that is the opinion of the vast majority of people that have played the game at one point or another and are no longer playing. Blizzard is getting record numbers back again why? Because they’ve listened to they’re paying players and produce a game worth paying for access too. Really looking forward to seeing the sales figures for the GW2 expansion.
Blizzard is getting record numbers back because they advertise like mad. If they didn’t have very very expensive commercials all over the place, they’d probably have a lot less people. They have the money to do it because of when and how they came out.
There are tons of people who played WoW back in the day and hate where it’s gone. I’ve always maintained that most gamers don’t think about their experience any more than most people eating at McDonalds think about what they’re eating. You walk into stores where some people still buy games and WoW is there. It’s harder where I am anyway to find copies of Guild Wars 2. It doesn’t have the machine behind it.
Have most of those people who play WoW even thought about or heard about Guild Wars 2? Maybe not.
The great masses of people who follow the advertising and don’t look any deeper (and there are plenty) have one option…it’s WoW.
Not rly… I downloaded the starter edition (free until lvl 20) yesterday and I almost bought WoD after just 2 hours of game play… AFTER 5 years after I quit. Leveling to lvl 15 was fast and fun (devs pls play it too and then come back to your NPE just for lolz).
What almost got me was PvP, easy to read, no particle effect spam, and everything worked. When I charged somene it did it flawlessly every time, no skill lag (Im looking at you earthshaker), etc. So no it is not just marketing but this is OT.
Turn everyone into Trahearne.
that would be awesome
I was farming 2 – 8 hours a day. It was fun not to open them only, but to farm as well
I am speechless.
That’s a nice story. I can attest that from my own experience SWTOR does NOT have less grind that GW2 because SWTOR requires me to have certain tiers of gear to successfully complete much of the PVE content or compete in PVP. Furthermore, that gear isn’t just thrown at you .. it is, by definition, a grind to get it; repeated content to get gear or tokens from raid drops. Nothing is more grindy than that.
By simply playing the story you get minimum required raid gear and then it doesn’t take that many raids to gear up. Far less of a grind than to get a full suite of BiS gear in GW2. As for PvP you get it by simply playing the game same as GW2.
You don’t get it … It’s not about how many raids I need to gear up, it’s about the fact that I need to do raids to gear up at all. GW2 doesn’t even come close to making me do anything I’m not interested in to gear up; I can do WHAT I CHOOSE to get gear I want. I’m also not FORCED to get BiS gear to do endgame content in GW2 .. in SWTOR, forget it if you don’t have it.
Why would you do raids if you don’t like them? The raiding gear (at least in WoW and SWTOR) is pretty much useless outside raids. PvP has its own gear and you can do everything else (dailies, quests, crafting, roleplay, soloing old dungeons or kitten ing in them with friends etc.) in quest gear, world drop gear or crafted gear… hell you can even do it naked – you will kill everything at same rate anyway (ok naked is slower).
Fun fact – at the beginning of WOTLK – my mix of 5 man heroic and crafted tanking gear had slightly better stats while having all caps, than full T7. I used to carry T7 in my bags just to prove that I have it to noobs to whom I was tanking heroics for gold ;-)
Fun fact: my paly tank in Mists of Pandaria had current raid gear up to Terrace and, with ~1.1m hp under buff if I recall correctly, could stroll around the world like a demigod, farming anything I wanted with impunity.
But tell me more about how someone in questing greens could do anything nearly as fast or nearly as well.
But wait! SWTOR was mentioned too!
I have a shadow tank, a juggernaut tank, a sage healer, a sentinel dps-only-because-they-can’t-do-anything-else and a bounty hunter I flip-flopped back in my TOR-playin’ phase between heals and dps.
The bounty hunter, the juggernaut tank and the sage healer were all current raid-geared clear up to Dread Fortress, and lemme tell ya, in dat raid gear, I could roflstomp my way through dailes in record time. I could kill things so fast on my bounty hunter and sentinel alike that I had no bottleneck except cooldowns holding me back.
Nothing could touch me. Nothing could hurt me meaningfully unless I stood there and afk’d like a tool. I was yet again as a demigod unleashed upon the world, with nothing but free game money to go and practically pick up out of the dirt for how effortless collecting it had become.
So, yeah, no. In both WoW and SWTOR, raid-level gear makes you do far more damage and take far less damage than any other gear in the game. Wherever PvE combat occurs, it is both relevant and superior in every way. (Hint: That’s pretty much everywhere except pvp).
Farming flashpoints was hilariously and stupidly easy on DF-geared toons in TOR. Speedrunning dungeons on WoW was a snorefest in raid gear.
‘raiding gear is pretty much useless outside of raids’ — bahahahahaha. Oh lawd you are clueless.
I’m done here. I’m laughing too hard.
I never said raiding gear wasn’t better in PvE, just sait it wasn’t needed. Bunch of white knigths in this thread mentioned that ascended gear is not needed for anything else than fractals yada yada yada this game is better becuase you don’t have to raid. Well this is false because you don’t have to raid in other games either – crafted and world drop gear is fairly enough to do everything what you want minus raids (and PvP because PvP has special gear).
And why am I talking about other games?… because I have managed to get BiS gear in them while doing content for which was this gear created… PvP gear in PvP, raiding gear in raids. Unlike in GW2 where I have to play TP, FarmVille, slot machine also known as mystic toilet for infusions and ofcourse crafting UI minigame in order to get the ascended gear which is the only one with slots for AR infusions which are needed in Fractals.
tldr; I have to do everything else but fractals in order to get into higher level fractals without being carried.
And people including devs are pretending this game has no grind? Rly? I am laughing.

Will PvE give more value to support builds?

Arenanet should get rid of certain worthless stats. And just focus on power, precision, ferocity, cond, vita and toughness.
They will have to come with clever boss design and balance this encounter super carefuly to be doable with every composition (5x full zerker,5x full support or mix of both )
In conclusion, so far they have shown to be lazy to deal with something like that. So no… more punching bags with no need for support builds.
Why don’t you give an example on how you would do it.
If the game is about killing stuff, would the stats the favor killing stuff faster be viable if you have the skill?
Unless you change all the fights to involve not killing stuff support stats are worthless. This is true even with games that have the Trinity, the bulk of the damage is done by DPs classes with support being spam bots.
Nobody can come up with such design in 20 minutes or day or maybe even weeks and im not paid to do so ;-)
Btw I agree with you, this game is all about killing and since they removed tanks and healers, anything else but DPS is worthless.

Nope, put my warrior in the closet to never see the light of day until anet fixes this broken class.
My necro is in the closet for almost 2 years
Before lvl 80:
Spend karma on better gear while leveling – there is no point to save it for lvl 80. You should these stats: power, precision and ferocity. If you die too much, mix in some vitality and toughness.
Upgrade your gear with cheap runes (I mean really cheap ones) – this helps a lot.
Salvage everything and sell materials that u get from salvaging on trading post.
Check metabattle.com and look for any dungeon build for your class and buy traits that u need from vendor in major cities.
post lvl 80:
Run Citadel of Flames path 1 and path 2 every day for zerker gear – this is the fastest and easiest source (other can be Crucible of Eternity, also sPvP CoF and CoE reward tracks), craft and buy rest if you have enough gold or just continue with this and you should have full zerker including weapons very fast. Do not care about the looks of mixed gear, you can put any skin you want on it later, it is just for stats.
:)
4. Is there a best class in-game or do they all balance out?
The elementalist for both PvE and PvP. It is hard class for a beginer though so I would recommend a warrior, thief or guardian. These are somewhat balanced classes.
And before some smug little part time burger flipper tried to tell me how lazy that must mean I am,
I’m a part time burger flipper and I wholly agree with you.
I don’t play games to work. That’s what a job is for.
Though if ANet wants to pay me to play their game, then sure. I’ll get on their gear grind locomotive and do work.
I used to flip burger myself. And sling tacos. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad for anybody that has a job these days no matter what it is.
I’m not so glad for those that are typically very young and think ‘I work almost twenty hours a week sometimes and I can make all the raids and I never have any difficulty farming for my loot and leveling and everyone else is just a lazy scrub that isn’t on my level and wants everything on a silver platter’.
Just s lot of snide dismissal for the wee ones that have nothing but free time to do anything they live whenever whim strikes when they treat the rest of us with far fuller lives like we’re lazy because we’re not eager to need to spend 60 hours a week for the next year trying to get the unobtanium with any sort of believable chance at actually succeeding.
Or panning us for not being add invested at doing everything amazingly and buckling down like this is our personal Olympics and the very soul of or pride is on the line.
That’s very well stated. Anyone who has worked a full-time job while helping to raise children will tell you that all time spent playing games is leisure time, not “work.” Time spent grinding for mats in a game could be productively utilized cleaning the house, playing with the kids, cooking a meal, or any of the myriad of chores that are perpetually looming in any healthy household. Time spent in the game is actually time spent being lazy. So when I hear players calling others lazy for complaining about having to spend unreasonable amounts of time being lazy in order to get anywhere in the game I’m left scratching my head.
I still remember my first year of grad school. My typical day:
- Three hours of class
- An hour of research and/or homework
- An hour of teaching
- 15 minutes commute
- Nine hours of spare time
- Ten hours of sleep
Here’s my typical day now:
- Ten hours of work
- One and a half hours commute
- Three hours of family time and/or household chores
- Three and a half hours spare time
- Seven hours of sleep
Bear in mind that my youngest kid is now in middle school and somewhat independent. When my kids were infants my spare time was pretty much non-existent. Also note that the spare time I have on weekdays comes at the cost of sleep. Like you, I have very little tolerance for the young ‘uns who want to call me lazy because I don’t think it’s reasonable to have to spend several months farming for mats before I can participate in the high level fractals that my guild mates run.
So because you have more important things in real life to attend to, you should feel you should be handed everything in game. If your guild mates are so high up there, why don’t they help you get mats? Nevermind the fact that the chest of loyalty at the end of the monthly login period gives you free ascended mats.
Nobody wants anything handed to us!!!!! What most of us want are rewards for doing content with real chance to get anything of value like skins or even ascended gear. Why can’t we get a piece of ascended armor once a day for mid tier fractals? There are like 20 combinations of stats on gear which mean our chances to get stats that we are after are already 1 to 20, now add in 10 possible slots (head, chest, hands, shoulders, pants, boots, weapon 1, weapon 2, back item, aquatic 1 and aquatic 2) and chances to get what we want would be even smaller. Where do you see anything “for free” or “handed”? ???
Necro is good in 5th group slot if nobody else wants to join
Tradepost, because there are no drops in this game, there is no endgame.
QFT
Also epic open world boss fights like Shatterer the Punching Bag, Fire Elemental a.k.a “wait 10 minutes for 10 seconds long fight”, MC Jormag also known as “stand here and autoattack with long bow” and ofc collecting carved bone spoons xD
And today I learned that players don’t want to work towards anything and have everything handed to them on silver platter, grind or no grind.
http://swz.salary.com/SalaryWizard/Aerospace-Engineer-V-Job-Description.aspx
Can’t speak for anyone else, though that’s on the order of what I’m willing to work at.
These games? Pff. Not so much. There’s a certain wisdom in knowing what’s good and useful to work hard at, and to me, these games are so far from making the list as to render such comments as this downright comical.
My commitment to sparkle motion should not merely be doubted, but known far and wide s being non-existent.
And before some smug little part time burger flipper tried to tell me how lazy that must mean I am, I make craft beers, do my own custom cabinetry and woodworking, am a hobbyist electrical engineer when it comes to messing around with my own tweaking of computer hardware, a frequent world traveler for both work and leisure, a once-a-week member of a local church’s choral group and a regular volunteer down at my local food shelter.
More? I’m also a full time husband of a wife that firmly believes that going mountain biking and hiking on everything is the perfect way to spend a weekend. Consequently, we do a lot of those, as well as going to beaches with friends and having regular once or twice weekly barbecue cook outs on our patio.
I’m not willing to sacrifice any of that to ‘work harder’ at a game. Frankly, I feel it to be a giant joke to work at these things at all. Defeat the point much? It certainly would for me, to them this into yet another laborious task in my life.
So hers your sign. I’ll take all the silver platter service. You can try to, I dunno, pretend you’re the Michael Phelps of achievement point hunting or something.
Whatever it is that motivated people to try so hard to work at these games harder than they might well work at anything else at all fails entirely to grab me. I don’t get it and I don’t rightly care to start trying now.
I’ve been saying to posts like this ’ get a real job and accomplish something in your life. Then come back and tell us how lazy we are for not being interested in working super hard in video game land’ for years. Consider it implied here too.
Exactly! As a almost 30 years old guy who has full time job and bilion other things to do in his life… I just sometimes want to sit behind the computer for a while and slay some dragons or something else in dungeons with friends or just random strangers and get my loot. Nothing more nothing less. But by loot I mean something meaningful, not two blues and one green. I don’t want anything for free, but why can’t I get 1 piece of ascended gear for final boss in fractals (20+ once a day?) or Tequatl, or Triple Trouble or maybe new HoT dungeons. I don’t have time to farm gold or expensive materials for infusions and gear with slots for them in order to try higher fractals and I don’t want to buy it with real money either because it would feel like cheating to me.
If I wanted another job I would get one and work for money, not virtual items. It is really simple in my case… dungeons/bosses/pvp = fun – farming gold/materials = not fun. So far this game has not been delivering what I want which resulted in two very long breakes and I have a feeling that I will leave once again very soon… Im not spending money on gems when Im not playing ;-)

What part of not “optional” do people not get from fractal 50. 70 AR is not OPTIONAL.
Fractals are a kind of dungeon run. Dungeons are like the very definition of grinding. You run them over and over.
I’ve done dungeons maybe like 5-10 times in the history of the game release and I’m doing fine playing all the non-grind content with my exotic non-ascended gear.
You say 70 AR is not optional. But fractals level 50 is very optional, lol.
If you play dungeons or fractals you are CHOOSING to grind. You can always choose to play something non-grindy.
Thus: Grind not required.
By this logic WoW, SWTOR or TESO are also “no grind” games
What part of not “optional” do people not get from fractal 50. 70 AR is not OPTIONAL.
like pretty much everything in any other MMO ever
Really? I was unaware of raidwide auras that tick for a % of your health if you havent grinded hundreds of gold worth of gear and infusions.
dude it was ironic post complementing your ironic post, I agree with you
Isn’t it ironic how white knights on this forum and even some devs point fingers at other games and their grind but call their own horendous grind “optional”? I lol’d so much on some posts in this thred

Personally, I think the “polearm” used by Rytlock in the trailer is a new hammer skin. If you look closely, there’s a head like that of a mace or morning star on it – it might be an example of ArenaNet putting in some realistic two-handed blunt weapon skins as alternatives to those massive hunks of metal the size of the wielder’s head which if you do the maths probably weigh close to if not over a hundred kilos.
it was something like this (real weapon btw)
How did charr cause the genocide exactly? They were fighting for their homeland in a brutal but direct fashion, and the humans took the dirty way out, resulting in wiping out their own kingdom.
The searing…
And yes it is different because the fight with mordremoth wasn’t hours away when he left for an equally heroic quest. Logan practically left at the last possible moment leaving Destiny’s Edge holding the remains of a poor plan with one less player in the fight….
Plus it’s 4+an army without Rytlock
It was just 4 and a small dragon without Logan. They could abandon that plan and just retreat. Yes I agree there is a difference though. Logan had to leave, Rytlock decided to leave.
1. Searing didn’t cause the ghosts, king adelbern did.
2. If queen jennah saying “save me!” Constitutes being forced to leave, than so does jumping into a hole leading into the mists to save your ancestral homeland. No matter how important jennah may be, Rytlock is saving his race from countless more losses (not to mention potentially other races once the charr can focus entirely on dragons) versus Logan saving a possibly important individual, because of his love interest. When did I said the searing caused ghosts? I said the searing was a genocide and ghosts are just indirect remnants of what Charr did back then.
Love interest , duty and honor.
Ok… Using that logic you’re saying that the charr attacked the humans (true), and because the humans couldn’t win they (mostly adelbern) blew themselves up… And its still the charr’s fault?
Fine, we’ll take it a step further: The humans (many generations back) “invaded” the charr land, when the charr finally found a way to get their land back they used it. Then gw1 takes place… Then Adelbern blows everything up, etc.. So the humans still indirectly and directly caused the ghosts, which forced Rytlock to jump in the hole to save his people…
I still reserve even with “Love, honor, and duty” he had a choice, and if we disagree there than I would argue Rytlock certainly was not given a choice.the searing is like nuclear bomb…. Charr lost heir homeland hundreds of years before the searing. It is like if Greece nuked the entire Turkey because much of the Turkey was once part of the Greece. That is something unimaginable but Charr did it.
No as I said above, Logan had no choice. If he refused to help Jennah he would be an oathbreaker and traitor and since he is white paladin stereotype in this game, he had to help her no matter the cost. (Btw: this internal conflict between him as a loayal soldier, member of Destiny’s Edge and in platonic love with Jennah is the only thing interesting on this otherwise boring character).
It would be like Greece and Turkey except they haven’t been fighting over the land for hundreds of years. My understanding is that there was war between charr and humans the entire time, so it wasn’t really a sneak attack so much as a much larger attack than expected.
Ok… And Rytlock’s choice is easy? I mean he pretty much sacrifice’s himself so that his race will fight the dragon. Instead of making a choice between love interest and killing a dragon he gets the option to stand there (watch the only chance of getting some of Tyria’s best warriors to fight the dragons fade away) or jump in the mists to find who knows what which will likely cost him his life…
They actually were fighting until early 19th centruy and they are still in sort of cold war But this is way too off topic. Nobody argue it was a sneak attack… it was genocide
I never say Rytlock’s choice was easy or wrong. I said it was somewhat same as Logan’s choice. He had to choose between 2 wrongs and he did, end of story.
edit: Sir Vincent III lol
Human of course.
You can be a follower of Grenth – god of death, darkness and ice. humans also look good in every armor and they also have the most experience with necromancy out of all playable races.
Shoutbow – tanky support
Hambow – tanky offense
thats about it in spvp for warrior.
If you actually like to kill someone from time to time go hambow. But be prepaired that your job is not killing but being annoying. You are supposed to be that guy who turn every 1v1 into 2v1. You also have good CC and condi removal so you can last for a while in 1v1 or even 1v2 untill someone show up and save you (a.k.a kill other dudes or at least stall cap/decap until u respawn and come back).
In 1v1 you are always the weaker one, the only exceptions (not counting noobs or non meta a.k.a PvE builds in unranked) are other hambows.

Taking new spec is a nobrainer for me as a PvE guy. Condi necro is useless and power necro is weak and boring (1111111111 spam forevah). They cannot make necros worst than they are now so new spec = upgrade even If I don’t know what would that new spec be.

or just say Rytlock wasn’t first… no big deal imho.
Yeah it was called diversity. Now what? Hambow, shoutbow, kittenbow, f..u..bow. Anything else has no place in spvp in current state if you want to be competitive.
before without cleansing ire, you wouldn’t even exist.
let alone talking about diversity.
and cleansing ire is only one of the reason why long bow is so good in a point based game.
like i said people started to use longbow+melee weapon before cleansing ire even existed.Yeah it was called diversity
you aren’t even viable before, how can you talk about diversity when there’s only free kills.yes you said Anything else has no place in spvp in current state if you want to be competitive at least it’s only one set of weapon to be viable compare to be not viable at all. it’s like sb for thief and staff for necro.
10 more or less equally bad builds are better than 2 good viable builds for some ppl. I don’t get this. It doesn’t make any sense to me but live and let live.
Every nerf that is not balanced out by buffing weak spots elsewhere is bad.
With nothing else to work towards, yes or no – would you get bored with the game? And for people that answer yes, isn’t that a major problem for a non-subscription MMO?
Bored and leaving players are problem for all MMOs, not just b2p. They solved that in other games with new content on regular basis that takes more than an hour to complete…. I like this solution more than dull gold farming, using credit card or years of gathering materials by “casual” play.
Also keep in mind, that there are not adding any gear progression or level changes in the expansion. The game has been out for 2.5 years. And it’s going to be another couple before we see another. So let’s say, you’ve had 4.5 years to obtain your ascended gear and you can get it done in a month now. See if that changes your answer.
How is playing 4.5 years in exotics different from playing 4.5 years in ascended gear? It sounds same to me. But once again BiS gear is not why players leave, they leave because they are done with existing content but this is topic for different discussion. This one is about grind, not about lackluster end-game content in general.

Curious, why would they cater and bend to one small minority of players and not others? (and they have said they knew it would have the reaction it got before they released ascended gear )
Because this minority wanted something easy to make and something very easy to monetize (gems -> gold -> materials from TP).
Aside from that…
-Dungeon revamps: theres a dungeon crawl minority that has been completely overlooked.
-Encouragement to play in the open world in any zone: Theres a section of the playerbase that wants to just log in and complete dynamic events in any zone that they choose, but not feel like they have wasted their time. 1.5 silver and 12k XP is a horrible way for rewarding what many consider the whole point of this game.Just a few examples…
And I understand that they can’t possible address every pocket of players, but I do find it interesting that they addressed the one pocket of players (and issue) that would create one of the largest controversies and debated topics on these forums(and in game).
Well they could addres 2 crowds at the same time by making ascended armor/weapons a guaranteed drop in fractals and harder dungeons (this would require fixing all exploits in Arah and revamp of bosses to not make it easy farm). Ofc with option to craft it like now.
Ascended weapons/armor are random drops from anywhere in the game. They are incredibly rare, but they do drop.
yes they are random but they should be 100% guaranteed drop as a reward for completing difficult content.

They would have an epic duel in who is the most boring stereotype in Tyra
Btw: Logan did nothing wrong. He pledged to serve Jennah and she needed his help. If he refused to go and she died he would be an dishonorable oathbreaker and traitor. Because Jennah is not just some girl he met the other day, she is the queen of Kryta and since he was and still is commander of the Seraph he had no choice.
Btw why wasn’t Rytlock on board of the airship with others when they attacked Mordremoth? Oh he was chasing some ancient sword in the mists because his race need it to mop up the remnants of genocide that they caused in Ascalon. Not selfish at all and totally different from what Logan did…. right?
Engineer is really fun to play till some horrid realization grows on you: You pull out an arm and a leg with your own combo fields, kit equipping and dropping and the like to accomplish what other classes can do with the simple activiation of a skill – and often better.
engineers are victims of poor UI in this game. In order to get DPS/utility on par or beter than other classes (minus necro) you have to use much more skills than them (which is imho good (I hate 1111111 rotation on my necro) but thanks to rigid UI you can’t see cooldwon countdowns on them. Another problem associated with the UI is need to hit extra button for each kit just to hit another button inside the kit. So instead of lets say pressing 10 buttons you have to pres 14 out of which 4 do pretty much nothing.
I wish I could bind all grenades from nade kit to shift+"number", all bombs to ctrl+"number", all flamethrower kills to mouse 3+"number" and they would execute right away without replacing my rifle skills on the action bar.

Ppl who like warriors should complain about everything that is related to warriors at all times.
Look at the necromancer subforum… half of necros there are in denial and think they are not part of the PvE meta because everyone else is either stupid, elitist or part of some strange conspiracy against magnificent necromancer class. Almost everyone seems to be fine with dull spell rotation of power necro which is pretty much just 1111111 etc.
The other half just resigned and play something else more than their necros. How can they expect any changes without being vocal enough to be heard?
You want to compare GW2’s current grinds to anything? I’d say.. the frostsaber rep, vanilla wow, would be appropriate.
You’re all missing a critical aspect of what defines grind; “NEED”. No part of GW2 requires the ‘grindy’ Ascended gear in the same way that you and your other WoW collegues describe what gear you DID need to do new content raids in WoW. Therefore, the WoW to GW2 gearing comparison is irrelevant if you are trying to say one is more grind than the other.
You must grind for AR in order to be able to do high level fractals. Your argument is invalid right there.
In both games you don’t need BiS gear for anything else than top tier content for which it was made (tryhard WvWvW, high level fractals/high rank arenas and latest raids). But in WoW you are getting BiS gear made for raids by doing raids, arena sets for playing arenas… in GW2 you are getting BiS gear for farming gold, paying with real money or tedious grind if you are foolish enough to farm materials by yourself.
Reward system in GW2 is just wrong and pretending that it is not true is wrong too.

I played TBC and WOTLK… upgraded my T4/crafted tanking gear into T5 in like 2,5 moths. My T6 took even less because I have became main tank for my guild and had loot priority for tanking gear. “Grinding” my full Zul Aman set (just for looks) took me about the same time. Remember… it was 2 dungeons for tier armor which is like 2 hours (sometimes more with B team) twice a week. It was nothing compared to GW2 in therms of time spend on “grinding” for at the time BiS gear.
My T7 was piece of cake…. it was so much faster on WOTLK already.
I left before Cataclism so I dont know how is it now but I bet it is less grindy than GW2 unless you are stubborn fool who is trying to play singleplayer in MMO.
Rytlock once tried solo Lupicus but he found only empty room and reward chest full of precursors.
So where is the choice?
there is always choice… p2w choice
BiS weapon you can get is not GS, dagger or staff… it is your credit card
- The best gear/stats: This means to have statistically the best abilities in the game, you shouldn’t need to, by our definition of the word, grind. This goes for leveling and getting top gear (by our definition that’s ascended gear, legendary being an optional extra thing you can do, but don’t need to do.)
Awesome. Please explain how I can get my hands on 1500 silk scraps without grinding so that I can craft my next ascended piece. Or about five times that for the full set. Keep in mind that my bank account is currently weighing in at 21 gold. That’s not even enough to purchase the required silk for a single piece from the TP right now.
I thought that maxing my crafting would be the limiting factor, but boy was I in for a shock! If providing a grind-free experience is the intent, then the game is currently failing at it.
haha wait for grinding all them mats/gold for Mighty Infusions
I gigle every time when I read how is farming gold and mats for MONTHS in GW2 so much better than “grind” in other games. Like really
yes guys I know you play warrior and you defend your class i can understand it. But I’ m talking about F skills. An F skill can’ t do so much damage. But if we want to accept that amount of damage at least they should boost other classes F skills damage.
I repeate plz compare Ranger F skills to Warrior F skills and suffer with me
I want gw2 to be balanced and fair. If one day it will…litterally I wouldn’ t quit it never and never. This post is made to attract devs attention.
They should do something for this issue for gw2 future

A glass cannon with stacked might vs glass cannon with low health…. gg wp QQ
Mystic toilet is waste of time and nerves… just salvage everything and sell mats. Grind enough gold and buy precursors from TP. If you are not born under the lucky star, your chances with mystic toilet are close to 0… comapre it to 100% chance with gold grinding ;-)
There is nothing legendary about legendaries anyway, anyone with credit card can get them instantly so save yourself the disappointment and just buy them with gold.
Maybe finaly metamancer 9000
Future of existing PvE Zerker Meta in HoT

This game has only DPS spec which mean DPS stats will always dominate… It may not be zerker but assassins or something new or whatever equipment with most power, precision and ferocity on it.
This game doesn’t have the DPS role any more than it has the tank role or the healer role. It just has the generic “everyone can do damage” principle that’s true of every MMO.
Funnily enough, in every other MMO, the only times people spec for anything but maximum DPS are when they don’t think they can survive content otherwise and when they expect the personal DPS they sacrifice to be more than made up for by a boost to someone else’s DPS. Sound familiar?
This game does not have a tank role (a tank in MMO is someone who mainly and on purpose holds the aggro. If you cannot hold aggro you are a DPS. A DPS in tanking gear is just garbage DPS, not a tank). There may be arguably healing role but this role is obsolete due to lackluster heals on party members, dumb AI, dodges, self heals etc.

new Rush is amazing
But if he returned from the mists before he went into the mists, he would pretty much copy himself indefinitely which could be problem for Tyria. Milions of Rytlocks everywhere.
However if there could be only one Rytlock in same time, the returning Rytlock would replace the original Rytloc but the “new Rytlock” would already be a Revenant and already have that funky sword which would mean he wouldnt have reason to go into the mists. But by not going into the mists he would never learn his new craft and never get that funky sword so he would have to go into the mists again in order to get them and this cycle would repeat forever.
Time paradoxes are fun, depending on the fiction you look to for reference returning before entering the mists could work, provided the old and the new timelines don’t interact (ie. the new Rytlock became a monk to live on a mountain in seclusion while waiting his past self to leave the timeline f.ex.). In this example the suposed indefinite cycle of Rytlocks would never interfere with the Rytlock whose past we know and there would only ever be one Rytlock in the timeline that affects the course of its events.
Here is an interesting idea, what if E is Rytlock who returned from the mists in the past? He would have details that he could use to steer people together to make the present that the PC is in, just as long as his past self does not become aware of this. Of course once Rytlock takes his past selfs place as the first cycle of the paradox comes to a close the timeline is again restored.
But what would happend to “E-Rytlock?” would he commit suicide? or live in seclusion until he die? And this still doesn’t solve the cloning Rytlock paradox. If there isn’t major hole in my logic, every Rytlock that leave into the mists will return and find Rytlock that is alredy about to leave and XY Rytlocks that already returned.
Example:
At first there was only 1 Rytlock. He left into the mists and retuned before he went into the mists. Now we have 2 Rytlocks – one who returned and one who is about to leave. The “returned” Rytlock can’t stop the other Rytlock from leaving because it would cause another paradox when he never left which mean he cannot return and stop himself from leaving…. Ok so we have 2 Rytlocks, one once again leave and since we know he has to return before he leave now we have 3 Rytlocks… one that is about to leave, one who just now returned and the original Rytlock who returned as first. This will continue forever because Rytlock can’t stop leaving because as I said before if he stay in Tyria, he cannot return …. but he alredy did.
:)
This mean personal story as a Revenant would be logically flawed unles they drastically change it. They might keep it as it is but it would mean Rytlock wasn’t first revenant but “just another” revenant (or at best the second one because our character will be the first one).
Edit: my english is far from perfect, I hope it all make sense
