I absolutely agree whole-heartedly. Many times I wished there was a “Are you sure you want to_____” feature to make sure I didn’t salvage or delete something I liked or needed.

I seldom sell something on accident. The “Sell Junk” feature let’kittenet rid of the…. junk without accidentally selling something. I tend to horde all trade materials I get. Now THAT is a great feature. Selling with ease means less time sitting at a menu interface and more time out there kicking kittens!

I read many of their blogs prerelease and I think it is AMAZING that they can sprout their “attire” from their bodies. When you look at the cultural armor, it melds with your characters skin as if you grew it out of your own body.

Lion's Arch signed a treaty with the centaurs?

Branwin.4609

You can sign a “peace treaty” but keep in mind, all it is is a piece of paper. Something I never understood from history. In Kessex (not sure exactly where) there was a centaur emissary in the Lion Guard outpost but the dialogue between the centaur and the Lion Guard members reeked of suspicion, passive-aggressiveness, and ulterior motives. That’s what I got out of it, anyway.

I would like to see more engaging questing. The heart objectives are great because they give you options to reach your goal and the random events are definitely fun, but a little more variation would be great.

I’m sure in the future this will happen. For now, I will continue using that mortar and cannon to shoot at targets and not at the massive hordes of centaur that are just over that there hill over yonder. :/

Both the PvE and PvP communities are important. I, for one, enjoy both. Regardless of whether you enjoy one more than the other you shouldn’t really sell either short, because they are both what make this game (and other games for that matter) so great.

Oh no, there’s been plenty of times I’ve done that (in almost every game I’ve ever played) because there was something going on, or whatever. I’m not sure how they would react, but have you tried contacting ANet in-game and seeing if they could do anything? I’m really not sure how stuff like that works. On the other hand, there will be plenty more Coins and Salvage Kits to come so don’t feel too down about it.

And for the record, I think if you deleted it because you clicked too quickly, it’s the opposite of being lazy. You’re just ahead of yourself! ;P

Future Classes for gw2

Is that what you think? Because in the original game, new professions were released with expansions. The potential is there. At the moment we do have all the professions we need but there is always room for growth. As the setting and lore expand they may release new professions to fit that theme or flavor.

It’s true that professions generally get new abilities and skills with expansion releases as well but neither you or I know for certain that “new classes won’t be coming.” Unless you have proof anyway.

Like I said, the potential is always there.

Also, the answer to this particular problem should not be “play a different game, delete all your toons”. I can understand not agreeing but by saying that you’re just being asinine.

I agree. In WoW they did NOT have an offline/invisible mode, but they also did not make it so everyone in your guild/friends list could see if you where on, what toon you were on, and where you were at if you were on another character. The exception to that would be Battle.net friends list.

I am currently only in a small guild and I play with two friends that migrated to Tyria from Azeroth with me. I don’t mind if these two particular friends know where I am at and if I’m online, they know me well enough to not get offended if I say I want to do something alone. However, I am not really keen on just ANYONE being able to add me on one toon, see my game tag (Branwin.4609 as you all can see) and therefore being able to see me all the time. I personally have nothing to hide but as previously mentioned, what I’m doing, what character I’m doing it on, and where I’m at is no concern to strangers or in-game acquaintances who have me on their friends list, but are not on mine.

I had planned on making a private character to play for some solid me-time but I’m less interested in doing that since the way the friends list/guild tab interferes with that.

I am all for being with your peers but I agree, some alone time/privacy would be nice.

I do not agree that anonymity means you are not held accountable for your actions. By saying that you’re inferring that if someone chooses to be invisible, they are up to no good or have more of an opportunity to harass or annoy other players. In an MMO setting, anyone is fully capable of being a nuisance whether they are anonymous or not, as we are technically anonymous on the internet anyway. No one knows who we are in real life (RL friends excluded obviously) and when we log off, we do not feel the repercussions of our actions in-game.

It also doesn’t mean you are socially inept. If you’re in a flourishing guild or are extremely social and are always doing activities with your peers, sometimes that can become the norm and becomes expected. YES, this IS an MMO, and GW2 emphasizes co-op and group play (our profession abilities mostly shine in group settings after all) but maybe you’re interested in a low-key, stress-free session. “Ignoring” messages is easier said than done, it’s right there in your face. Messages are in an eye-catching color and usually make a sound when they are sent. Yes, if someone is pestering you when you want privacy it can be rude, but does that mean you have to be confrontational about it? Absolutely not. Rude as they may be, these people are probably your friends and guildies and don’t have bad intentions when they want to play with you. By choosing to be under the radar or invisible every now and then you would be taking the path of least resistance and both parties wouldn’t be hurt, offended, or otherwise.

African push for dominance? Dominance over what, exactly?

The point was that the OP would like to see some of the same diversity of culture that was portrayed in the first game. They didn’t say they wanted Divinity’s Reach to be Africa.

Hall of Monuments was another incentive to play. I was also interested in Ritualists and Dervishes. I believe I played a demo version once…. I remember the instanced zones and the point-and-click movement style, and most of all, the lack of jumping. I think I will give it a shot. Thanks for the info!

I can't make any money in this game due to mechanics...

Branwin.4609

Here’s a question that somewhat relates— I noticed the money sinks as well but they are not an issue for me. I am not playing the game to make money, but I did notice I am not making much. I am level 40, and if I didn’t repair, travel, buy things I don’t need, etc. I mayyyyy have made maybe 4 gold.

The question is this: The reason most people are not making much money is because the game is new, right? We don’t start the game with loads of gold, we have to get out and generate it from mobs/rewards, etc. so for now the general wealth of the population will be low, correct? Until the game is out for months, years, so on and we as players have generated the gold circulation?

This is my first time playing a game from release so I was just curious. Economy in real life is beyond my mental capacity/attention span and for the most part it is in-game as well. Like someone said before…. I’m not trying to play Wallstreet in a game with fake money! But it was something I was always curious about when I began using the AH in Azeroth.

First person view.

I agree! It’s funny because it’s a problem I didn’t acknowledge I had until I read this post.

I already have enough issues with jumping puzzles. I’m not a bad player— I’m just bad at jumping!

I also agree a FPV would be excellent for screenshotting. GW2 offers so many beautiful places. I have yet to come across a single cave that is identical to one I have previously visited. That being said— I am leveling slowly and enjoying the lore aspects of the game, and have only done all of the low level zones and a few of the mid-level ones. I’m level 41!

Vistas are great but they can only show so much— there is more to the beauty of the landscapes than what the vistas show us.

I have to say, Olithia, I am very impressed with your all-around knowledge and interest in the lore and cultures in-game. I am new to the GW universe; I never played GW1 although it was F2P because I was so involved in WoW. I loved the WoW lore and that’s what made the game great for me. I am loving GW2 as well and agree, it’s a fantastic game.

I’m having fun talking to NPC’s and questing all over and I did remember them saying this was the same setting as GW1, just in the future. Thanks to this thread I will probably be noticing a lot of things I hadn’t before, and that’s great.

Here’s a question. I know GW1 is still active. Is it worth picking it up and the expansions now or in the near future or do you think at this point it would just be overwhelming? If what you say is true and the cultures in the original are clearly portrayed then it sounds like I have more lore to jump into.

I assume that prior to the Durmand Priory creating the Krytan alphabet and making a universal language, that each of the respective races had their own language/writing systems.

I also assume that they put that bit of lore in to make some things in-game easier. That’s just a guess, though.

Hey there, I’ve been trying to remain on the up and up on the forums moreso than I did to the MMO I migrated from. I see a lot of the same kinds of people on this forum; the whiners, the elitists, the just-plain-confused, etc.

One small gripe I have is moderators completely shutting down a thread for little to no reason. I can understand shutting down OLD threads or threads that might have took a turn for the worse and turned into a flame war, or even repeat threads but I made a thread asking a question (not utilizing the Q/A feature, just asking a question) and from that question began a lighthearted conversation. The conversation did not last long, as a moderator came in and said “Mystery solved, shutting down this thread!”

Wow! THANKS! I wasn’t done talking, but thanks! Keep up the hard work!

The creators of this game claim to be attempting to foster a friendly atmosphere for players and for the most part they have been absolutely successful; people in-game are friendly and helpful, as this is critical to success in most instances, but I mean.. really?

What exactly is the criteria for shutting down threads? Is it random? Is it at the mods discretion?

Also, how much time did you invest in each class?

A thief, I imagine, is pretty straight forward in gameplay, so if it’s not your thing, it’s not your thing.

However in time, between the different attunements and the variety of weapons an elementalist can use, I see them as incredibly versatile playstyle-wise and imagine it kind of hard to dislike the elementalist. That, of course, is a matter of opinion.

Should I be using it? I don’t think I want to but I need to put my mind at rest.

I remember in a Q&A video I watched before the beta weekends were taking place, one of the questions was regarding the phrases the characters say during certain spells and abilities they featured in the profession skill videos on the main page. ANet said they wouldn’t be used as often, but I guess that’s a matter of opinion. I love my engineer and all the sound effects when I use elixirs and different guns and stuff, but I hate when I use an elixir for run speed out of combat and my guy says “Urge to kill rising!”

Depending on you and your ideas of how your character is personality-wise, they can be very off the mark.

Metrica Province problems

I had a great time taking my engineer to explore Rata Sum and quest in the Metrica Province. The Asura are truly quirky and their banter with one another can get pretty hilarious.

I’ve searched (and by search, I mean I browsed the first page) and I was wondering, is anyone else experience a bug in Metrica Province as far as the map goes?

I have completed nearly everything on the map, but it says I need 1 vista and 1 skill point on the side menu where it keeps track for me. However, on the map, I have NO incomplete vistas and TWO incomplete skill points.

The first skill point was generally recognized as a bugged event on my server. Located in Loch Jezt, the area in question had a few frog-men and one dead frog-man on the ground, and periodically stealthed Inquest Asura would come in, steal some juice, and run, but no event occured and there was nothing around to trigger it.

The second “skill point” was further in the map, at the Luminates Plant. Upon arrival I fought a large number of Inquest golems and shortly after a friendly NPC came up and alerted me of an elite elemental far away from the Plant, but I did not see a skill point symbol anywhere nearby, nor did I see any vista symbol.

I usually report bugs upon discovery however with some of the skill point bugs I’ve refrained, as with my experience they usually solve themselves. Anyone experiencing the same thing?

So what, exactly, makes an elementalist “challenging”? Switching your attunements? I’m confused.

Keep in mind everyone, a guardian can wield more than a greatsword.

Maybe the reason you’re having trouble with other professions is because you’re attached to your elementalist. I know I’m having a hard time playing anything other than my engineer; I switch my kits just as much as an elementalist switches their attunemenets, and it’s not that hard.
