~ Among the Ashes [Dust] ~
No complaints, thus far I’ve had quite a bit of fun doing the Fractal dungeon. I’ve enjoyed each one I’ve been in thoroughly.
However, my group got to our 7th Fractal and it was this one, and we honestly had no idea how to get past the Gate. We tried breaking the Ballista’s and the Seigemaster repaired them, we tried to break the Arrow Carts and the same thing. We tried to kill the Seigemaster and the Burning Oil obliterated us.
So again, not complaining, just would like some advice from the people who have gotten past that point.
This needs to be fixed, with the massive number of people in Lion’s Arch during this event, having people on the actual server and people in the overflow in a party, the people in the overflow can’t enter FoM with the people on the actual server.
Haven’t been able to purchase anything off the Trading Post since the patch. The “Buy” button is unclickable.
He’s more annoying than the Infinity Coil Commander, and that’s hard to do.
I lost achievement points as well since the patch, but only by 2. I had 3030, now I have 3028.
Looking through my achievements, the only place I can see 2 points being different is under Slayer. I have several of them completed at 16 points each, however Centaur’s Bane and Zhaitan’s Bane are only showing for 15. Not sure if this was always the case or if that’s where my missing 2 points went.

Having numerous issues with him since the patch.
In all the times I’ve gone there to check that Ravine, that was the first time I ever encountered those Bandits and their camp. Well, regardless, I want across that Ravine!
Nope, only those maps
I get this issue every single time I enter WvW
The asura have offered to experiment on the sylvari and determine why they appear immune to corruption, but so far no one has volunteered.
I volunteer my Sylvari. Get to finding out.
So does the Helm not exist in PvE?
I’ve checked Fireheart Rise, Mount Maelstrom, and Frostgorge Sound for it.
So, anyone have any speculation as to what is through the portal across that Ravine in the north of Brisban Wildlands?
Also, as of the beginning of this week, it appears there are now Bandit Engineers working to repair the bridge. They weren’t there before when I went and tried to find a way across but now they’ve set up camp and are working on it.
I’ve been working towards locating the PvE equivalent of this armor, and I have located 5 of the 6 pieces, but I can’t find the Helm. The other pieces are all from Heart vendors in Fireheart Rise.
I posted what info I had found on guildwars2guru, so I’ll post that here and see if someone can locate the head piece.
Helm -
Shoulders - Tactical Shoulderpads - [434 Karma – Tactician Lyan] – Icespear’s Shelf
Chest - Enduring Coat - [588 Karma – Enduring Protector] – Highland Thaw
Gloves - Tarstar Gloves - [343 Karma – Tarstar Chief] – Apostate Wastes
Leggings - Truyere Leggings - [511 Karma – Legionnaire Kress Rustmaw] – Sati Passage
Boots - Everburning Boots - [399 Karma – Brencis Quickblood] – Liberation Dell
Does anyone know the respawn rate of the Chests that spawn him or is it entirely random?
Failed to get the “A Waddle to Remember” achievement twice due to people rushing in and killing him right off. (On a side note – give him more health!)
The event to “Defend Severed Breach from the Flame Legion!” has been bugged out and stuck at 3/9 Waves since 3 days after the game’s release (when I first got to the zone). It has never moved past it, I’ve been there nearly everyday and checked each time.
If you’re not going to bother ever fixing the event, just get rid of it so the waypoint will finally be uncontested.
Why is it that some gold sellingkitten& derper can spam Lion’s Arch map chat every 5 seconds for an hour straight without getting blocked from Map and Say?
Yet a player turns around and says LF*M “Insert dungeon here” Exp! 3 times in a matter of 10 Minutes and is blocked from Map and Say for the next hour that the derper is still spamming during.
Everyone and their unborn children reported and blocked the gold seller. No one reported the person asking for a group or members to an already existing group. Seems the anti-spam feature is backwards.
Dred, we dont have a night crew on kaineng.
We have a morning and US prime crew. no euro real euro crew. When I log off at 1am-2am my time we are usually outnumbered pretty badly. Sure we still have a showing but its not strong.
I think you arent quite pegging when US nighttime is because I’m sure your out there in SoS’s primetime which is 12 hours after US prime.
Naw mate, im on US pacific time. When im online, roughly 7-8pm – whenever long as the action is hawt, i’m seeing 20+ zergs from kain out there. The one pics i showed when kain hit a Bay had 2 zergs easily 20+ on both north and south gates. That was very late pacific time, after midnight if i remember right. I only see Ferg suffering numbers on the night shift, but even then you roll up into their BL they manage to rouse up some impressive numbers. I started posting pics because of folks arguing that Kain didnt have a night shift, i def dont think you have a numbers issue. Might be more teamwork/coordination? Lack of night shift commanders? Dunno. Now granted I’m judging what i see based off the map im on. For all i know i could be looking at pretty much all the Kain warriors swarming onto one map at a time and cant field teams across all the maps. Dunno. But you def have a very good night shift that puts up a darn hard and tough fight to get anywhere. I’ve played both server primetime and server offtime….fights seem to be def tougher on the “off time” hours.
All or most of the people leading Kaineng in WvW log off around 1-2 am EST, at that point it becomes a mindless zerg that rarely bothers upgrading or defending what they have, and people trickle away to do PvE or log off.
From the other thread that got merged but somehow left this post out. Anyways, here it is.
The zones themselves are artistically impressive. Orr would be a great place, if not for those glaring issues. The rest of the games zones are quite enjoyable, and I’ve had no issue running 4 characters through them on my way to 80 and getting 100% World Completion on all of them. But Orr, I can’t stand the place. It’s not fun in any form. Even when you’re running with a group, it’s still a grind just to get around as it seems the respawns actually manage to go from 5 seconds to 2 seconds when a group is killing them.
I guess it’s 15-20 from the Eternal Battlegrounds jumping puzzle. Not sure for the exact amount, but I got 17 the last time I did it.
10-20 from EB at 80
It’s a Tree Siamoth!
As far as we know Sylvari don’t age like humans do, and if they do its probably super slow. Even the firstborn look fine, not withered at all.
The whole Sylvari race is only 23 years old so we cannot really say how they age.
The Sylvari have shown no signs of aging since emerging from their Pods.
As for old people, there’s the creepy old lady in Brisban that gives the skill point, the other creepy old lady that is in the pic above, the old man you kill in in the swamp in Kssex Hills, there are numerous Norn elders, old Charr, and that old guy that captained the ships during the personal story in Orr.
Plenty of old people.
I think an official response is merited on this matter.
Is ArenaNet planning on doing something about Orr, or will the developers just add new ‘better’ content and leave it as is?
If the new Sea of Sorrows stuff on the 15th is all 80 and doesn’t include Risen out the wazoo, Orr will become a dead zone. (no pun intended)
since it’s more or less the only level 80 pve part of the game
Frostgorge Sound
Anyways, I don’t recall anyone actual saying they are “afraid” of Orr in the sense that it actually scares them but more that they are afraid of how rough it’s going to be due to all the well deserved criticism surrounding the 3 zones.

It doesn’t take long at all, assuming you know what to do. A few hours and you’ll be there.
Armor sets: Go for a handfull of the cheaper ones, not the expensive ones. Ancient, and Eye of the North reputation sets are all cheap, easy to make. With Asura, Norn, Monument, Ancient, and one more random one, you’re at 4 points
Hero statues: These are incredibly easy. Grab a ranger secondary, and tame a Black Moa, Imperial Phoenix, both in Factions storyline, and then any random common pet. Complete the quest to get M.O.X. Get every hero that can get it, Stolen Sunspear Armor for 5 Nightfall heroes. Get Brotherhood Armor for every EoTN hero. 7 points.
Titles: Linking accounts gives you points automatically. Then beat every campaign mission, in normal and hard mode, with bonus/masters. It’s pretty easy with heroes, and will get you 9 titles. Get one more random statue to bring it up to 10. 9 points.
Weapons: If you do all the War in Kryta quests, in hard mode, you’ll make enough for 1 Oppressor Weapon. Destroyer Weapons are incredibly easy to craft, and you only need 1. 3 points
Miniatures: This is really the hard one, for someone jumping in to the game now. One rare, and one unique (a gold and a green) mini, and you’ve got 3 points.
4 from Armor, 7 from heroes, 3 from weapons, 3 from miniatures, 9 from titles. 4+7+3+3+9 = 26 points.
Completion time: Nightfall Campaign, 20 hours. Eye of the North: 6 hours. Factions campaign, 3 hours. Prophecies campaign, 8 hours. Challenge missions: 3 hours. War in Kryta, 3 hours.
43 played hours total.
Crafting: Depends a lot on your profession and selection. I’d do it on a ranger, as they’ve got pretty common ingredients for pretty cheap armor. With 100k from storybooks, MOX, and Bonus Mission Pack, plus ~20k from nightfall treasures, you can do 2.5 sets of armor. ALWAYS SKIP HEADGEAR. That saves you a good amount per set. Assuming you looted enemies, did quests, and otherwise made money while beating all three campaigns in normal and hard mode, you should have enough to do at least one other 40k cost armor set.
So, you’re left to your own devices to farm 2 more armor sets, and one destroyer weapon. Use your heroes to vanquish zones in Cantha for Kurzick or Luxon faction, turn the faction into Amber/Jadeite, and sell those to a rare material vendor for about 1k a piece. I’d say no more than 20 hours to farm out 100k would be needed.
63 played hours total, 26 points.
If only someone coming into the game and just starting out in GW1 could learn the builds, the Hero AI, the Henchman AI, the best routes, and the best group to bring to get through each Prophecy, Factions, Nightfall, and EotN Missions in both Normal and Hard Mode. Then how to get through each of the Winds of Change mission in Normal and Hard.
Then, they’d have to learn the economy to see what farms and sell the best, probably still stuff out of the Underworld which they’ll have to learn the best paths to farm that out. This would be to get enough Platinum for one armor set, and they’ll need more then one. Then they’ll need to farm the weapons. On top of that, the cheaper armors from EotN, they’ll have to learn the best method to farm the necessary reputations and that will often require filling multiple Hero books.
Now for the Hero statues, you’ll be needing to first get through the story and the quests to acquire them all. You’ll have to finish the Factions story to get the Phoenix pet or unlock it in the Menagerie. Once you have the Heroes, you’ll need to learn the best way to farm the armor pieces to get them their unique armor so that they can be displayed. You could buy it, but that factors into the economy portion noted above.
Miniatures….this will cost you an arm and a leg and likely a torso. You will need more gold to acquire the necessary number of miniatures then you will for the armors.
You’re not doing this in 63 hours, certainly not if you’re new to the game.
It takes a great deal of time, or a great deal of money, which takes a great deal of time to farm, so either way, it won’t happen very soon.
The Lore…that’s it
This right here.
This list will be rather short for most players I assume
(edited by Braxxis.7062)
Here’s a few guilds that stand out to me as a challenge in small-scale situations.
On Devona’s:
Trx – Highly skilled groups, always fun to fight
Btsy – Incredibly frustrating thieves, and normally I don’t worry about thieves but these I tread carefully with.On Kain:
iSpy – They seem fairly well coordinated, you can never find them alone or in small groups. A few of em are fairly good and tend to be a more difficult group to harass.I felt I had more to list (esp for Kain) but as me and my ele guildie are so often 2v10 (and thoroughly enjoying being dedicated zerg harassers) we either decimate or are too busy moving as fast as we can to escape getting trampled. I only take mental notice of those guilds who are able to stalemate us or take us out so as to take them more seriously.
Lots of good fights out there!
The Spirit of Life – Legends of Moonglow [Moon] – Ferguson’s Crossing
Are you the Asura that was harassing us in Kaineng’s BL last night? It was two of you from [Moon] that kept coming at us on siege island. We’d kill the one and then the Asura would peace out faster then the roadrunner. Just could not catch the little guy.
TRx want’s to thank the huge Kain zerg for the hours of epic battle with our 6 man crew between redbriar and (greenlake?) tonight… We had loads and loads of fun, hope you did as well..
I was actually just coming on here to mention how much fun that was holding the island against you guys while we hit Greenlake with siege. Taking out that tower took forever, thing had been fully upgraded and taunting us for hours.
You guys really made us work to get it, was good times.
@Braxxis.7062
Even force…lol man you need to recount. There was nowhere near the DR at Hill as there were Kain. But i wont argue the point. The pics of the Kain zerg at the Bay are the same folks that ran over to the Hills.Oh..Just got updated that when you fled your homelands to go attack DR BL npcs…nice push. But why did you all flee the map when you lost the Garrison? Kains outmanned buff popped up soon as you got pushed out of the garrison.
Comeone Kain..i KNOW there’s some good players on this shift. Stop running and fight…or is NPCs pretty much the extent of your skills? (just kidding there)
Im back online now and goin in to see what fun can be had.
Not much, our BL commander is attacking your siege naked…for like 30 minutes now. No idea what’s happening elsewhere, though word is someone on a certain server hacked catapults in EB to hit Stonemist.
Attacking siege for 30 mins…thanks for verifying Kains need to PvE.
Hacking catapults? LoL now you start the “we getting owned so they must be hacking”…man if im not mistake, and i can scroll up to see…wasnt that exactly what Kain was accusing DR of “crying” about? lmao
GO DR GO!
I didn’t say you did hack, I said someone was saying that Devona’s was placing catapults in unreachable places way up on statues where you can’t even get to and was hitting Stonemist with them. I haven’t been to EB all day, so I have no idea what actually happened.

PRO doing what they do best according to kains. :o
Taking Borderlands maps while the majority of Kaineng’s WvW players are either sleeping or at work?
Or dancing in front of doors while you take them uncontested?
LOL..its all i can say….“when we’re asleep” hahahaha…what a joke of an excuse. Your “mighty” SoS was online last night and guess what…couldnt touch the 1/3 the size DR force that was doing nothing but owning!
Stop making excuses. Your primetime got shut down, and your off shift (one that actually caps nodes) got shut down too.
This is our prime time, not 3 am, 4am, 6am, 12pm, or 3pm. It’s not when Devona’s ninja’d our Borderlands. It’s right now. And look, we’re taking the lead back.
As for our Borderlands, you are correct, you did hold us out of Hills, with an even force, and flanking us on respawn. Fair game, but what you’ve done there since has been against what remained of Kaineng’s players while the rest decided since you were so intent on staying in our Borderlands, you didn’t need yours and they went there.
Braxxis.7062 -
Would pom poms in my hand make it better?
Absolutely. If you can cheerleader it up, uniform and all, that’d give it a 9. Scatter some dead bodies around and it’s a 10.
Braxxis.7062 -
Both.
Don’t judge the sylvari dance, especially while its uncontested @ a keep/tower.
I shall judge it.
I give it a 7 out of 10. Not enough flair.

So after 2 months of dealing with the numerous griefers that participate in the the Temple of Grenth event, I have to ask; Any plans to change this event at all?
The problem is the massive amount of mobs that you can tag and loot during the event before it ends. These people will participate in the event up until it’s almost over, and then intentionally get the NPC killed so the entire thing starts over, and repeat. They have done this since release, and they still do it now. There’s also almost always a group of bots in the back room of the temple farming mobs that join in the event once it starts, get the loot from that, and go back to farming more mobs.
At this point, something really needs to change in this event to prevent the grief farming. Either change the way the event works and don’t reset it every time the NPC gets knocked out and let players revive him, or do something about the massive number of enemies with loot tables that all die in 2 seconds..
As it currently stands the only way for this event to succeed is for enough players to eventually trickle in that they can prevent the griefers from getting the NPC killed by Shades, Spiders, the Champion Wraith, etc.

Dear Kaineng,
You have more players than Devona’s Rest. When a party of 10 of us kills 20 of you but another 30 are behind that 20 and kills the 10 of us, why do you beat your chests and declare how great you are? When your capping zerg of 30+ comes to cap an extremely outmanned server at 7 to 8 AM EST, why do you think you’re the greatest since sliced bread? We have stopped that zerg cold before and with maybe 8 to 10 of us but it was not easy to do.
We have had some epic fights. These are not epic. You win at those times because you have more cannon fodder than we do. Give us an even battle and we wipe the floor with you and send you home crying to momma. We had many such even battles last week and we won handily. Now you have a larger population. The question is, is it just a weekend zerg and we will have even battles on the weekdays or is your population going to remain high?
When a party of 5 of us is assaulting your keep and killing you when you have us outnumbered, THAT is epic. That is worthy of chest beating but I see none from those of us who were there.
So relax the bs chest beating. You win ONLY because you have a higher population. So crow about how many more people you have. How you recruited people to go around an empty server and cap largely undefended structures. That is the story of Kaineng’s winning strategy.
We had the outmanned buff….multiple times. How do we have more players and that buff.
Largely undefended? Sunnyhill was defended enough to hold out for several hours, we got there, you wiped us and pushed into the keep, got wiped and we came back out. Now Cragtop on the other hand, ya I sat there with a Treb for about an hour and busted the wall and we took that without a fight while everyone was busy at Sunnyhill but hey, that’s your own fault for leaving me alone for an hour.
My only gripe was the lack of a way in without killing one of the mobs, I didn’t die in there but I just enjoy the area in general and would have liked a way in
Come on, we are the most beat up class in the game! Nerf, nerf, nerf, jus’ about every update. The problem isn’ with Thieves, it’s about the renderin’ on stealth an’ we ain’ the only glass what has stealth skills. Get off our backs already, we need ta stay a playable glass for goodness sake.
Did you just type in Dwarf speak?
I believe krhysoar(?), the golden sword has the same skin as dawn though. And it is quite a bit cheaper.
Thank you, it does indeed have the same skin.
And just for clarification, it’s Khrysaor, the Golden Sword
Forgot, I can add a screenshot.
So…Tengu this time, Kodan next time? I want my Kodan Necromancer!
Also, can’t wait for the 15th.
I’d like a function to search for Light, Medium, or Heavy armor instead of just all armor classes.
Is there a PvE equivalent of this sword skin? It’s a Greatsword if anyone is unsure of which sword I’m referring to.
(edited by Braxxis.7062)
My apologies, someone kitten wants to be super technical. I should have said it is not exclusively from getting attacked and can happen outside of combat as well.
It’s not the look I want but the stats. The one from the personal story has Berserker’s stats, and the Memoires has Rampager’s. Really needs to be more backs and aquatic helms.
Has anyone been able to actually put anything in the upgrade slot? I can’t as of yet, which is rather annoying. Sort of like the Exotic Berserker’s Ring (gotten it 3 times) that I can never put anything in.
Nope, was the Ore node at the top of the well. No falling damage, no one in the area, and hadn’t approached the tunnel to be effected by any of the traps.
It’s not from getting attacked. I’ve gotten ruined ore from Orichalcum in the EB Jumping Puzzle while using an Orichalcum Mining Pick with no one around me at all.
I see a lot of builds focused on tPvP/sPvP and WvW and very few for actual PvE with the Thief, and am wondering what a decent build for Orr and/or Dungeons would be.
Is a Power or a Condition build a better choice or are they about the same? I’d prefer a balanced build of damage and survivability. As it is I’ve been running a Power heavy build that was great until 80 but it gets rolled in a dungeon and can’t handle too many mobs in Orr without dropping.
I want one of them shirts.
