Today is Halloween, the dungeon was not there. The event is going to be around until the 5th. Every single other part of the event is going to be available all week. This is the only thing that is not going to stay for the full length of the event – it was up for what, 2 days? With no advance notice? Not quite fair. Especially since it’s needed for the title. Holiday events are supposed to be fun and available for everyone.

Everything other then the Black Lion Chests ends on the 1st. Nothing else is staying until the 5th.

Yes, it is entitled. It’s a Holiday Event, not a year round thing. The content is only available during the Holiday, just like any other MMO, and just like the Holiday stuff is only sold in stores prior to and during the actual Holiday.

That’d be like asking everyone to have Christmas again a week later because you had the Flu during Christmas and felt that everyone should cater to you and experience it again.

Someone with a job, family, obligations, and precious little free time – should have made time for the dungeon (read: 10 minutes) before tonight.

There was plenty of warning that the dungeon only lasted until Act 4 started.

The only truly acceptable reason to complain about missing the dungeon is the following; “Hurricane Sandy dragged my house across the city”. Even then, those people have bigger things to concern themselves with, like getting their house back to it’s previous location.

I could not for the life of me get up to that bell last night. I tried and tried, but even with a speed boost I could not get from the top of the door to any ledge in any direction.

So that’s what the whole thing looks like.

Neither the jumping puzzle or the book are required to get the title.

Oh I’ve gotten 2 skins from the chest. Sadly, neither were what I wanted, nor are they selling for very much at all (Rifle Gourd and Deathly Bull).

I’m confused. There’s something written on the bell at the top of the tower? I’ve been up there multiple times, never looked at the bell.

Edit: Okay, I can see something on the bell but I can’t get into a position to be able to see the whole thing, just the right side of whatever it is.

I didn’t buy a single Black Lion Key to open the 100+ chests I have. I open them when I get that super rare key drop or not at all. I get more exotics to drop than those blasted keys.

Aside from that I’ve done everything there is to do in the event quite often and on several characters, all with a smile. (Usually, some people just irk me)

Are people really that bad at jumping from ledge to ledge? Getting around in the Mad King’s dungeon is the easiest thing in there. The only falling deaths I’ve ever witnessed were from people being feared off or intentionally belly-flopping to the bottom to be revived at the chest for the fun of it. There has been the occasional “ah crap, walked off the chain” death here and there.

I’m more peeved at the people that pull every spider on the middle level when 90% of them can be skipped over. But jumping? Quit trying to high dive all the way between levels and actual use your camera to look around and see the ledges, it’s not hard at all.

Not everyone has that kind of gold to throw around for skins….

In fact I’m betting a lot of people don’t.

Only the achievements for them were added. They were always there, they just didn’t give an achievement for doing them until this patch.

The achievements for them aren’t going anywhere, and neither are they.

Just take a break. Go outside look at the breathtaking graphics and boring real life storyline for a while.

Or the not so boring and extremely breathtaking real life story if you live on the East Coast.

I’ve done the Level 80 only group and I’ve run with plenty of low levels. I’ll take low levels any day after that all 80 group farm.

Level 80’s can kill the Mad King faster due to Traits and Gear, but the sad part is it generally doesn’t happen. Low levels seem to be more cautious about pulling all those kitten spiders on the mid level, being as most of them can be avoided. 80’s like to pull everything and try to AoE it down which makes the fight take even longer.

Also it seems that on Kaineng, 80’s fail at jumping from platform to platform and low levels are pro at it.

Yes, you can transmute that staff with the skin to another later on

Could explain why trying to catch Elementalist Villagers can sometimes be such a pain.

It may affect more of the pieces then just these 2, but both of these pieces has a section of it that can’t be dyed with Moss Dye.

You can select a Moss Dye for the section and apply it, but it will not stay, and as soon as you change from the Dye screen and go back it says “Dye Remover”. It may apply to more than just Moss Dye but it is the only one of the 200+ Dyes I have that had the issue for me.

It’s not a unique looking set. It’s quite disappointing.

How do you acquire the recipes for the Gifts? Other than the obvious Trading Post. Are they a drop like the Superior Sigil of Night & Superior Rune of the Mad King recipes are?

I have seen the villagers win twice because one of the guys found an exploit where he could hide inside a wall and so not be killed. he apologized after the 2nd time and left.

This boss & event appears to be bugged. If he is killed with his buff up (from DoT’s) you don’t get an Event complete when he dies, the event just ends.

And as he has died both times I’ve been there with his buff up, I can’t say if he has loot and it’s also bugged or if he just doesn’t have loot and only the event is bugged.

This is an interesting game of survival, but there is one issue I have with it. Villagers should NOT be able to see their teammates on the map. It defeats the entire purpose of trying to survive by hiding, which is really the only way once the number of people hunting you gets high enough. If one of your teammates knows where you’re hiding, and they die, they can just come on over and beat you down.

Just so people know, you can get all 3 chests in a single run if you move fast enough.

Page 11 - Use Gaseous Field on the south end of the Bridge southeast of Arca Waypoint, inspect the location and follow the ghost that appears. Use the Aqueous Field slightly northeast of the now invisible burning house and inspect the location to get the Water Bucket. Put out the fire, talk to the ghost.

So I made this topic a few weeks back (I called it loading screens but I meant the character select screen), but at that point it was just a generalized statement of my slight dislike of the loading screen. This time around I actually have a suggestion.

You know, of all the MMO’s I’ve ever played, I felt that the best character selection screen came out of Aion. It wasn’t that it had a great background, but that it had all your accounts characters on the same screen. The one you had selected stood in the foreground while the others relaxed in the back.

The suggestion I had was something similar to that, with a more “active” background. For instance, whatever character you have selected decides the background based on the zone they are in.

• Kryta - The background characters sit around a campfire with Seraph Tents and Banners around them
• Shiverpeaks - The background characters relax in a Norn hall.
• Ascalon - The background characters sit in the ruins of Ascalon with all the torches lit around them and a mix of the Legion Banners.
• Maguuma - The background characters would be situated around a Sylvari garden with the lit plants and such and an Asuran lab in the midst of it.
• Orr - The background characters would be positioned within Fort Trinity, with Pacts soldiers in the distance or just Pact Banners and Tents.
• The Mists - The background characters are all around training posts or siege weapons with discarded armor and tattered banners strewn about.

Each option could have both a night and day form. This is a character select screen that could easily be expanded upon with expansions and new zones.

Just something I was thinking of to replace a rather dull selection screen of the Mists.

That kid has got nothing on the Krait Witch or the Infinity Coil Commander. They put the Lion’s Arch NPC’s to shame with all their spamming.

The big issue with the event and people being unsure of where to go or what to do is Anet’s continued use of Reddit and Facebook to host Q&A’s and posting information about the game.

There is an official website with forums, there is an official wiki. Use your official sites already instead of expecting your player base to go to reddit and facebook. This is the same issue people were having when you were posting information about parts of the game being down on reddit instead of here. You rectified that one, now fix this.

I mean come on, the wiki’s Featured Article has been the Hall of Monuments since…I can’t remember it ever being anything else. Use your official sites. Not Facebook or Reddit or Twitter or whatever else.

Mad King > Zombie > Skeleton > everything else

It makes sense though that the Mad King would be better in the Brawl as you have to get it with Gems as opposed to the rest which are from the Mystic Forge Cauldron, Tonics, little Cauldron, etc.

It’s 36 Pumpkins in LA, not 35. I would edit my post but the edit button isn’t there.

I can’t seem to learn this recipe for Leatherworking.

I’ve found 2 sources for the ingredients to learn it and tried both.

• 200 Pieces of Candy Corn
• 1 Onyx Lodestone
• 1 Orichalcum Ingot
• 25 Chattering Skulls or 25 Nougat Centers

I’ve tried both in the Mystic Forge and in Discovery and neither one worked. On the same subject, I can’t get the recipe for Major Rune of the Mad King either. Got the Minor version without issue.

I can no longer set the amount of an item I want to craft. I either have to Craft Max or Craft 1 at a time. Selecting the box and setting the amount does nothing, it just resets to 1.

There are 35 Pumpkins total in Lion’s Arch, including 2 in Weyandt’s Revenge. Myself and another person on Kaineng spent what seemed like forever searching high and low and came up with that amount.

There are no pumpkins in any of the other cities though. However, you can either get the 35 and then go hunting for pumpkins in the explorable zones, or swap to another character and get all 35 in LA again until you’ve finished the achievement.

Thanks a bunch for the information mercury. Could you perhaps tell me where the named armor is attained from? It’s on the TP but I’d rather like to obtain it myself if possible.

Is there a PvE version of these shoulders? I want them for the Cosmetic appearance.

My bad, there were 4, not 3. I had 100% completion by day 3. The only bugged skill points I came across or ever heard anyone mention were:

Engage the Orrian Spectral Hammer – Cursed Shore
Engage the Orrian Spectral Bow – Cursed Shore
Engage the Orrian Spectral Sword – Malchor’s Leap
Engage the Orrian Spectral Guard – Straits of Devastation

For the entire first week people were serving hopping to find those 4 skill points. There were bugged events, mobs, personal story quests, but few skill points. There was that one in Iron Marches where the NPC wasn’t there, but he was just not resetting position after being beaten, so you had to find him. (He’s still doing that on occasion by the way)

My “hyperbole” (really, you can’t use the word exaggeration? Not a smart enough word for your taste?) is true. Regardless of whether it was just those 4 or there were a even just a couple others (I think there may have been one involving pirates somewhere), the fact remains that there are more bugged skill points now then there were in the first week or so.

That topic is approximately a month old. During the first 2 weeks the only bugged skill points were the Orrian weapons in Orr. The events have had the same problem. With each new patch, they fix some bugs and add several more.

As for a bugged vista, for a time the Vista in Diessa Plateau through the use of the cow firing cannon was unavailable as the bug with the cannon effected the use of the mechanism on the right side used to launch players to the tower.

You act as if nothing has been improved upon in the last few weeks, which just is not true.

During the first week after release the only bugged skill points and events were located in the Orr zones and getting 100% world completion involved server hopping for all of a couple skill points.

As of now there are more bugged skills, vistas, events, and mobs then were in the first two weeks of the games release.

There have been several changes since that time but the thread topic is based on the fixing of bugs instead of starting a holiday event amidst all of them. However they have stated that the holiday event is coming with a patch to fix numerous bugs so I’d say hold off on the cynicism until after the patch.

Yes I know that’s the current case, the question is if there is any plan to change that in the future.

Now I’m fairly certain this may have been asked before, and I apologize if it has and been answered already.

Is there a plan to make it so transferring your characters to a different server, when you are in a solo guild, will not remove all guild upgrades and influence? If so, is there an expected time frame?

As it stands, I chose Devona’s Rest on the 3rd day after release and have been there since. I have upgraded my guild with a number of things, and would hate to lose all that by transferring off of a heavily botted and practically vacant server in order to play with actual players (I wanna come visit Kaineng!) for a change.

I haven’t been able to get this mechanic to work during the leveling and subsequent 100% world completing of 2 characters. It worked fine for my first character but since then, I could stand there all day dumping water on them and they’ll never wake up and my progression meter will never budge. This also affects the pirate’s in Moriarity’s Hold in Bloodtide Coast.

Is this a bug or a matter of placement when using the bucket?

It shows as High on the server selection screen while the actual player base is Low. Roughly 50-60% of all characters on the server are bots. It’s a terrible situation and the server is often times quite “dead”. As soon as they make it so I can transfer off without losing all my guild’s influence, I will be saying peace out to DR.

Having leveled a Ranger, Warrior, Thief, and Mesmer to 80 I’d say the Thief was the fastest on land, the Ranger was the fastest in the water, and the Warrior was the best at tearing apart large groups.

You are just proving my point even further. There are certain mechanics in this game that will one shot you no matter how geared you are. They exist in every MMO out there. They are not random. There is plenty of warning. Some bosses glow and some have timers on said abilities. Some have animations to look for, some will perform a 1 shot if a person is standing in the wrong place, or perhaps if they are out of melee range when they should be in it, or standing at range when they should be standing in melee.

No ego stroking going on here at all. I am trying to explain that it is really just a matter of people not understanding how to play effectively and efficiently yet. Some people get it and some people haven’t yet, and sadly, some people never will. That is the nature of a game that has such a vast player base.

Only one boss ever, in any MMORPG I’ve ever played before GW2 (EQ, EQ2, DDO, Lineage, Lineage 2, WoW, Aeon, FFXI, several F2P models) has ever had a 1 shot mechanic, and that was Vaelestraz back in Vanilla WoW by turning players into living bombs. Every other boss has had mechanics that can kill you very quickly, or result in a 1 shot if you don’t position yourself correctly or get too high a debuff, or can instant kill you as part of a scripted event during the fight. So no, not every mmo has bosses with one shot abilities, heck even in GW2 they aren’t 1 shot “abilities”, they are simply basic attacks that can hit you for your full health regardless of spec and gear.

A perfect example is the first boss in CM Story, the robot. That guy can turn around and hit the warrior I mentioned above, with a basic attack, and instantly down him. That is not an ability, there’s no indication he’s going to randomly turn around and hit him, he just does it. One second the Warrior is at full health, the next he gets smacked by the robot and he’s down.

Another example is the Mouth in Arah Story. Sure you can prevent his ability to suck everyone in easy enough, but going into melee with him is suicide, his auto attack will 1 shot you. It’s stay at range or die. In fact the whole Story run of Arah is stay at range or die on the bosses.

Your whole argument of see the ability coming and dodge it is negated by the fact that their kitten auto attacks are 1 shot abilities. The whole problem is resolved by toning down their auto attack damage. Abilities crushing your face if you don’t avoid them I can see and understand as part of a learning curve, auto attacks doing it also I can’t.

It’s not so much the massive HP pools that irk me about the mobs in Dungeons.

It’s this:

• Level 80 Warrior
• Vigil Armor (Power, Toughness, Vitality)
• Superior Rune of Divinity x6
• 10/0/30/30/0 Spec (Great Fortitude in Strength)
• Sword & Board for Blocking

That can still be 1 shot by bosses, with no warning that a 1 shot attack is coming.

Lol @ whoever was complaining about a 20 minute fight but having people getting “randomly” one shot. You know what? It isn’t random. Learn the mechanic, stop dying, you stop spending all that time picking up your downed teammates. Turns your 20 minute encounter into a 10-15 minute encounter tops.
