~ Among the Ashes [Dust] ~
Hundred Blades isn’t a chain attack, it’s also not a single hit attack, therefore the damage done by Hundred Blades doesn’t count towards “Damage in a single attack”.
On another note, I just discovered that the Travelling Priestess in Fields of Ruin, up in the Secluded Glen with the Skill Point, is Priesstess Rhie. So if you wanna see her in game without the Personal Story that’s where she is.
After having gone through the Personal Story with 4 characters (Sylvari, Charr, Human, Asura) I feel that the whole quest line after level 30, once you’ve chosen an Order was really lacking up until about Orr, which then was full of choices about which really nice characters you wanted to get killed along the way to Zhaitan.
The problem was in the lack of recognizing both your characters Race and your previous choices along the way to choosing your Order.
The list could go on with several quests involving situations such as these depending on your choice of Race and Order but it all really boils down to the same thing, a lack of recognition of your previous choices.
It tends to really pull away from the story and make it not as engaging. Not to mention my issues with the entirety of the Destiny’s Edge story taking place in the Dungeons and skipping over those on your way to the final Personal Story quest, which is quite easy to do, leaves you scratching your head during the final quest while you run Arah and going “Soooo, when did they get all buddy buddy again?”
I miss the Guild Wars 1 style loading screen. The Guild Wars 2 loading screen is boring!
Though, I also thought that Factions > Prophecies > Nightfall > Eye of the North in terms of loading screens.
Thanks a bunch for the link Lexy, great site. I think I found the Green, it looks like it’s “Mint Ice”. Still looking for the others, Abyss is too dark (I have it on the character I want this color scheme on), and Ash is too light. Charcoal looks like it on medium armor but doesn’t quite fit on Light armor.
Here’s a Screenshot of her I found on google. She’s the one on the left.
No one knows the colors on her outfit?
Well that’s too bad. How about Swindler?
Can you actually craft Pirate & Swindler armor as a Leatherworker? I am at 400 Leatherworking and I can make Emblazoned, Noble, Prowler, Rascal, Leather, Outlaw, & Seeker, but not those other two. Am I missing the recipes somewhere? Do they require using the Mystic Forge to learn them?
Can anyone pinpoint the color scheme on Priestess Rhie? She’s the priestess of Grenth encountered (so far for me) in the Human personal story quest when you’re choosing an Order and later in Orr if you choose to go to the Temple of Grenth to find the Source of Orr.
Just stopping in to say this is still the case of this area. The event isn’t active but the Bandits from it just keep coming and all the NPC’s are dead.
The one where the ranger runs around the boss in a big circle and solo’s him…
At least that’s how I got past it
So I just ran Twilight Arbor for the first time, and we eventually reach Faolain and her merry band of Nightmare Destiny’s Edge.
So someone points out how the fight works, that when you kill one of the Nightmares Faolain will attempt to resurrect them and become vulnerable. He said that you have to get Faolain to 30% before she finishes the cast, or if the group couldn’t do that, we’d have to kill each Nightmare twice because Faolain wouldn’t resurrect the same one twice.
Well, we proceeded to try this, and the group wasn’t able to get Faolain down to 30% in time, so we just decided we’d kill the Nightmares off. We killed Eir 9 Times, Rytlock 6 Times, Logan 5 Times, and Zojja 5 Times, and she didn’t stop resurrecting them. So we just sat there unable to beat Faolain because she would go back to full health each time she completed the resurrection.
So I looked it up, and the way it was explained to us is how each guide says the fight works. Just wondering, is it bugged?

I can not find such a feature
A huge problem that Devona’s Rest has is some of the people who attempt to command in the place. They spread out what little group of people we have and try to over-extend themselves. And the zerg mentality has players actually following those orders.
So often we’ll take a place and then just move on to the next or try and go take 2 more places simultaneously, without bothering to leave behind a group of players to upgrade and defend the location. I can see going to 2 places but only sending a ghost crew to one in order to distract, but when you split both groups evenly, both groups will and do often times lose, and while they’re losing those 2 fights, the opponent walks in behind them and takes the undefended location and we all just end up back at square one.
Now the biggest issue comes when someone attempts to confront these “commanders” and point out their error and try to correct it. They get defensive, they put you on ignore, and they continue doing what they were doing.
This is a huge issue for a low pop server just trying to hold on against the zerg that is FC or BP (doesn’t matter which, both far outnumber us).
Could we have an option on the website to remember our username/password or to automatically log in?
Not a huge deal by any means, but hey, it’s a suggestion.
Now, I’m not sure if this is a bug or an intended change but yesterday Risen Rotmouths weren’t too much to fret about.
Today though, attacking a Risen Rotmouth causes every mob within a kitten near 100 yard radius to come hauling kitten at me like I threw out a giant red flag and yelling “Come get me!”. Is this supposed to happen now? If this is the case, you just made the already infuriatingly annoying Orr zones, more annoying.
Go with a Sword/Axe build that stacks vulnerability and bleed with healing shouts.
Kills slower, but has way more survivability, as well as being useful to a party.
I recall the Rangers complaining about this same exact thing last patch. Not every class needs to be reworked every single patch, or even every other patch. Chill out.
When you encounter ranged underwater mobs and feel you’re not putting out enough damage with the Harpoon Gun (people keep calling it a Speargun and it’s called a Harpoon Gun in-game, just a slight thing bugging me), that’s when you swap to the Spear and get in their face to deal higher direct damage.
Dropping targets constantly when they go out of your sight is a known bug, not much he can do about it unless he cranks his mouse camera sensitivity up and just keeps spinning his camera around.
I already finished this last night for the month of October by crafting in Lion’s Arch, I logged in today to see “???” in place of the Survivor Achievement and it has been reset. At this point it is not progressing at all.
I’m not sure what class you’ve been playing, but my Ranger does exceptionally well underwater compared to my other classes. The Harpoon Gun’s “Feeding Frenzy” is amazing for demolishing groups of enemies, and “Coral Shot” makes solo kite & killing Group Event mobs underwater a cinch.
My Warrior does way better damage on land then my Ranger, but once I hit the water, I’d take my Ranger over him any day.
I don’t know. A knockdown would be pretty OP imo. Point blank shot is amazing as is. I use it all the time and it is very useful.
It would be OP if the Knockdown occurred regardless of the range. If they added a range limit on the KD part, it wouldn’t be so bad. I don’t really see the need for a KD with PBS but it could be added without it being OP.
That’s why I’m merrily playing my Warrior now and put my 80 Ranger in a corner.
The only issue I have with my Ranger is it’s Signets suck compared to my Warriors. Oh, and the Warriors “Signet of Rage”.
Signet of Rage – 30 seconds of Might, Fury, & Switfness. 60 second CD
Rampage As One – 20 seconds of Stability, Fury, & Swiftness. 120 second CD
Longer buffs than our similar Elite, with half the cooldown time.
So, can anyone help me out and point me to a server with a peak time around mid to late afternoon EST/EDT? I’ve been on Devona’s since I started but the server just seems too empty regardless of the time of day I play, and since I live on the east coast, I’d prefer a server whose peak time fits well with my play time.
I’ve been having issues with underwater mobs for a couple days now where anytime I engage them in melee, they glitch out after a few seconds and become Invulnerable and reset.
It only happens when I try to melee them. If I stay at range and attack them, they are fine.
So, I did a search and didn’t come up with a topic asking this, merely mentioning it in passing.
Why is there not a tab in the Collectibles section of the Bank for Rare Crafting Materials? I mean, there are a large number of them, why must we take up Bank/Guild Bank space for these specific materials?
I observed this as well, as it happens almost entirely in the Orr zones, or when I reached the point in my Personal Story where the majority of all the mobs were Risen, my pet basically became entirely useless and I spent a great deal of time just having to kite the mobs around.
Why would you want precision over power when going condition? What good are the crits if you have low power?
Because you take the trait that inflicts bleeding on critical hits and stack Bleeds regardless of whether you are behind your foe or not, and if you are, you stack even more Bleeds then usual. A condition build isn’t reliant on direct damage, it’s reliant on Condition Damage, which means Precision > Power.
There’s too many problems with a ranger condition build that people seem to consistently ignore.
1) Shortbow only bleeds on flanking. This is fine in lower level PvE where enemies actually care about your pet. Once you get to Orr the AI seems to actually understand you get an advantage hitting them in the back and they are NOT okay with it.
2) Traps are necessary for a condition damage build to really shine. That means 30 points in Skirmishing which prevents you from ever really maximizing your conditions which requires wilderness survival and marksman.
3) Bleed/Burning/Poison caps. This is a huge deal. Especially running 2 rangers that should both be able to maintain near 100% burning uptime in a condition build alone. That means with 2 people you have too much burning and it’s just wasted DPS.
I used a condition build right up to around level 75 and then switched to power/precision/Crit% and haven’t looked back. Shortbow can easily get up to ~400 regular hits and ~800 crits which at a fire rate of 2.2 attacks per second is pretty freaking awesome. I still use traps but mostly for the utility they bring (e.g. CC, AoE tagging, poison to hurt healing).
1. Due to them both playing Rangers, one of them can swap to a BM based build that makes their pet nigh unkillable while the other maintains conditions and this problem of not being behind the opponent…not a problem.
2. The thought that you need to maximize both Marksmanship and Wilderness Survival is wrong. Condition Duration does NOT increase the damage done by the condition, the condition merely does the same damage over a longer period of time., which is efficient if you’re unable to apply the conditions quickly enough, but is otherwise pointless.
3. Too many people assume that every Ranger is looking for a WvW or Dungeon build where they are running with other people applying conditions simultaneously and thus lowering the viability of a Condition build. And as stated in 1, even though they are running 2 Rangers, the whole “one of them swapping to a BM based build” would also fix this issue for them.
A condition build works just fine in PvE
You want a high crit chance in a Condition build. The best you can get with a Ranger is around 50% with full Rare quality Rampager’s gear, but that makes you a glass cannon, so going for 40% or so is better and allows you to use some gear with better survivability.
The bottom line with pets is that unless you spec into a Beastmastery build designed to turn your pet into a viable tank, no pet (not even the mighty Bear) will last for more than 10 seconds once you reach Orr. Unless you do this, you’ll have to get proficient at kiting mobs and snaring/stunning/slowing things down because without a BM build, you’ll pull aggro off even the most damaging pet, and if you don’t, it’ll just die in a couple seconds and you’ll have to kite anyways.
Prior to reaching Orr, the Ranger and it’s pet work well together regardless of your build and unless you aggro too many mobs, the pet does a fine job of handling the aggro and staying alive, even in Frostgorge Sound. The only problem comes with, as mentioned already, the Orr zones, Fire, and oddly, your Personal Story (throughout my entire personal story it felt like the mobs completely ignored my pet, was annoying as hell)
On that note, am I the only one that feels like Fire damage from mobs does way too much damage compared to everything else?

I’ve asked this before and got no response.
It doesn’t make sense to me that you have a tab for cooking materials, common materials, fine materials, gemstones, and even pets, yet rare materials don’t get a tab?
Hmm, I don’t have Aurora’s Remains. That may be it, any indication of where it is in Brisban Wildlands?
Ah, it’s location is on the wiki but it’s not on the Brisban Wildlands page Map. It’s to the west of the Toxal Bog. There’s a path in the north of the bog that leads to it.
Thanks for the help.

Yep
Guild tag is gone
I appear to have no rank in my guild
All upgrades are gone
All influence is gone
History is empty
Ranks don’t exist at all
Emblem went poof
You gone done broke my guild!
So I’m trying to finish exploring all the zones, and I got 100% Map Completion done, but it appears I’m still missing something in one of the Maguuma Jungle zones. I have checked my maps against the maps found on the wiki, and I have combed over them to see if there are any places that are still painted and I’m coming up empty.

Can anyone think of an oft missed location in the Maguuma zones that I may have overlooked? I could try and get decent screenshots of each of the zones in my game and post those if that would help.
There are 2 such Piano’s that give access to a chest. The one in Caledon Forest that you mention in this post. The other is the Pipe Organ in Ebonhawke.
I have completed both and had a similar issue with both. Clam/Door opens, and the chest is already open and empty of any loot.
All dungeons, PS instances?
Dungeons don’t affect the count. Only 1 POI in your Personal Story does and that’s the one at Fort Trinity.
Have you gotten the 1 POI in the Chantry of Secrets? I was stuck at 716/717 for days without knowing that one existed. The Vista and other POI’s may be from one of the Borderlands or the Eternal Battleground. As for the Heart, I have no idea.
Freky, it has been tested, quite a bit, and it is true. The Short Bow consistently out damages the Longbow, regardless of range, and even with using Quickening Zephyr while wielding a Longbow. This is due to its putting up bleed on the target. You could get the Sharpening Stone trait, but then why not use the Short Bow with that and still out damage the Longbow.
The only time a Longbow does more damage than a Short Bow is if the target is immune to DoT’s, such as structures in WvW. Even then the damage difference is very small.
You could try soloing Orr….that’s always not fun.
The Durmand Priory quest “Evacuation” to help the Quaggan escape Falooaloo with the help of Baroosh is stuck. After the first waven of Corrupted Fish spawned, nothing has happened. The bar for the escaping quaggans hasn’t moved, and no further enemies have spawned.
I tried to leave the instance and go back in, and had the same issue occur again.
I agree with this. Even though there are events and loot you can obtain in order to make money in WvW, it doesn’t help the losing servers if the 3rd server they fight is consistently a higher pop and different time zone server that crushes them every night when the majority of the other 2 servers players go to sleep and then by morning have every location fortified and just zerg defend. Can’t do events at that point. All you can do is die over and over and sink money into repairs.
We have: Charrlie Sheen. Charrles D ickens. Winston Charrchill. Charrmander. Charrmeleon. Charrzard.
You have: …. Woody Allen?
Edited for the purposes of getting Charles D ickens to show up past the filter….

Earlier today, my account was hacked. I don’t know how, I never went to any of the spam happy gold seller sites, but alas, it happened.
Regardless, I never received any sort of e-mail notification that someone from good ‘ol China was trying to log in to my account, or I would have happily declined it. I have managed to reacquire my account and change the password, and disconnect said China peoples from my account. However, the problem still remains that I wasn’t notified of this log-in attempt even though the e-mail address was not changed, and now I’m short a boatload of items and materials that were in my Bags and Bank.
I have submitted a ticket about this issue in hopes of fixing the loss of items but I’m creating this topic in the hopes that the issue of no e-mail notification can be addressed. I had to verify my own e-mail address not once, but twice, after having played the game for 2 and 3 days. Yet someone from China can just log into my account without the slightest difficulty?
Should also point out, he/she/them changed my server. I would like to return to my old one.

Guild: Among The Ashes [Dust]
Server: Devona’s Rest
Issue:
Previously, I lost 500 Influence and an upgrade was cancelled in my guild by the automatic restart from a new build. Now, today I log in and all previously purchased and completed upgrades are gone, as is all Guild Influence earned.
Signet of Stone Question
Signet of Stone states that it’s Active Effect causes your pet (and you with Signet of the Beastmaster) to takes no damage for 6 seconds. While it prevents any initial damage from an attack during those 6 seconds, if the attack applies a DoT of any kind, the DoT does indeed deal damage.
My question is, is this it’s intended function? Should it prevent the application of DoT’s during those 6 seconds as well?
Signet of the Wild Question
Signet of the Wild states that it’s Active Effect causes your pet (and you with Signet of the Beastmaster) to gain Stability, along with growing larger and dealing more damage. Now Stability is supposed to prevent all control effects. It doesn’t, at all. Rampage as One also grants Stability, and the same applies. I have been knocked down, knocked back, pulled, dazed, feared, and stunned while having Stability on myself.
So the question here is, is this a known bug?

Guild: Among The Ashes [Dust]
Server: Devona’s Rest
Issue:
I lost 500 influence when the current update cancelled “Research Politics Level 1” and didn’t refund the cost. It shows in the History that it was started.
Now, I can’t earn any further Influence. I’ve tried buying drinks from the Guild Promoter, the Guild history shows activities being completed but the Guild’s Influence isn’t increasing from them.
The forced restart for tonight’s new build cancelled my guild’s current upgrade and didn’t give the Karma back.
