~ Among the Ashes [Dust] ~
Thx Arena to make the game like this. I m at 0/10 ring drop from 10 18 lv. Now i try to do lv 20 more and ppl kik me bc i have 0 resistence. I m at 1300 token so soon i m rdy for the back craft but it isn t normal.
What i have to do? I have to stop fractal and do a daily all day for a ring? I never see a things like this and i play mmo from 10 years(long raid experience… )
Change the drop of it bc now it is so stupid.
I’d kick you because your spelling hurts my head.
On a more related note, if you had a lot of experience with raiding, you would not be saying you’ve never seen this. That or you had the greatest luck with drops and always got what you wanted from a raid boss.
The event also gets stuck at the part where the Pact is trying to take the Promenade of the Gods. The risen stop spawning and so you can’t complete the Cull the Risen part.
They do stop spawning when you beat the Asura boss after the Golem. I thought that was intended.
Gates are currently open on Borlis Pass, if anyone wants to go there.
A couple other dredge exploits for the list:
Just prior to Rabsovich on the door destruction path. Someone in the group had a stack of Ash Legion Spy Kits, which they used to cheese the door, after we downed a Reverberant and they grabbed the cannon. 10 seconds of uninterrupted stealth at the door.
Also for Rabsovich, the group decided to pull him out of the room to fight him away from his adds, completely debasing the whole fight.
I don’t think pull him away to fight him is an exploit. That’s a workaround. It’s no different than pulling a small group at a time to fight them in any situation. It’s just more tactical, safer, and much smarter than just charge into a group.
That’s ridiculous. It’s an easy fight regardless. Why would the designers intend for you to make it a joke? It’s not about pulling him away from a group of mobs to be tactical; it’s about completely removing an element of the fight until the boss is dead. Clearly not intended, therefore exploit.
LOL, whats so clear about it? Developers made a fight, players thought of ways to deal with it, and u are calling it an exploit? Tell you what, they expect you to have 20 resist on 20-29 jade maw fight too. If you don’t have it, you are exploiting your way up by letting those who have 20 resist cheese rez you up
Except that fight is super easy without pulling him, just fight him at the back of the thing and AoE. I have yet to understand why people pull him away, the dredge that spawn aren’t silver ring mobs. They are normal mobs that die in 5 seconds.
Regardless of which choices you make starting with the Pale Tree and beyond, people die. Cool people too. I’d have gladly sacrificed Trahearne for any single one of them, and I’ve chosen every path by playing multiple characters through the story.
Is there a Carrion version? You know, Power/Vitality/Condition?
The closest I can find are Relena & Vassar’s Rings, which are Toughness/Vitality/Condition.
You really need to add more of these. As they replace our head slot armor piece when we go underwater, going from an exotic to a masterwork just doesn’t seem right.
I’ll go check, see if I have it. I make a point of getting every POI in a dungeon.
Nope, that is the one in SE that is bugging the crap out of me. I tried to get it for 30 minutes after finishing the boss of the path near there. The destroyer guy.

Hmm 1-19 can be done without agony res. Wait till you hit 20 and your entire party has only 10 agony res hahahaha! Can’t wait till the majority of you whiners hit that stage =)
I can’t wait for halfwits like these to understand there is a difference between “whining” about difficulty, and suggesting/requesting that RNG not be a deciding factor in dungeon progression.
Having Ascended Back Pieces or Ascended Rings is not, at this point, indicative of skill or Fractal progression. It is merely an indication that RNG went your way.
Only real issue I have is the double RNG on rings. Vials have a decent enough drop rate, if you’re tagging things in fractals, you’ll have 1 by the time you get to 9 (I had 5, and nobody in my guild progressed beyond 9 before finding at least 1).
That’s just it. The RNG effects that as well. I have run over 60 Fractals, tagged and looted so much stuff I’ve had Fractal runs where all of my 20 slot bags are full, without collectibles to deposit and not one Vial. A group I frequently run with pre-Rank 10 all have at least 3 Vials. I’m wearing MF Gear, they aren’t. RNG is just that, random. And random is not good.
Let me preface this whole thing by saying this: I thoroughly enjoy the Fractals of the Mists. I enjoy the setting of each Fractal, the difficulty as you progress, and the encounters, with only a couple notable issues; the Dredge Powersuit past Rank 10 can go die in a fire, and the Giant Jellyfish is a boring and overly lengthy fight even when you drag him around to the electrified cages.
Now for the issue. It has become apparent to a number of players that something should be done about the issue involving getting Agony Resistance gear through RNG.
As it stands, once you reach Rank 10 in the Fractals, the end boss of each Fractal begins casting Agony on a random player (or players if people are too close together). Agony can’t be removed (it can be dodged if you are paying close attention), and the only way to reduce it’s damage is from Infused gear. The only way to obtain Infused gear is entirely based on RNG.
This is a huge problem. It’s holding players back from progressing efficiently into further difficulties in the Fractals. Sure you can do it, but you’ll die more frequently than a player who’s luck has favored him/her and they’ve been able to acquire Vials and/or Rings. It’s starting to feel a lot like early WotLK WoW (basically before Icecrown Citadel) where if you didn’t farm the same Raid over and over to get the full Tier set, you weren’t often wanted in the next Tier of raiding.
If you get lucky between Fractals 1-9 and get a Vial of Condensed Mist Essence to drop, you can craft yourself a new back piece with an Infusion Slot before reaching Rank 10 and Agony. You can get the Vial after Rank 9 but by that time you want the back piece and you’re negatively effecting your group by not having it. After that, every even difficulty Rank from 10 on you can possibly get an Ascended Ring from the Bonus Chest when you beat the Jade Maw. The ring RNG issue is twofold though; first you have to get a ring and then you have to hope it’s the ring that fits your build and gear. It’s not right that we should have to equip an Ascended Ring with stats that don’t fit us, in order to have Agony resistance, at the cost of lower stats in our spec, nor should we have to acquire new gear and change our traits around to match the Ascended Ring’s stats.
The issue needs resolving. Here are my thoughts on how to do this.
It really boils down to this: RNG should not effect a players ability to efficiently progress in a dungeon.

The recipe for Corrupted Shard is obtained from a vendor in Frostgorge Sound at the camp where you fight the Claw of Jormag from.
To make it you do need a Shaman’s Etched Shard. More information at Etched weapons
Nothing is inaccessible in that area.
Just hit 1, 2, 3 and you’re fine. All the Krait, including any you just revealed, will rush the little sea scorpion while you zip by unimpeded. Get near dead person, hit 5. Repeat on the way back.
Here’s the reason people skip trash in dungeons, plain and simple.
Trash is often times more difficult and more damaging than the actual bosses of a dungeon, and far less rewarding. The bosses themselves are for the most part fine in terms of difficulty and can sometimes be enjoyable/memorable. The trash on the other hand hits nearly as hard, comes in larger groups, and generally annoys the kitten out of the people running the dungeon.
So if the option to skip the terribly tuned trash and go straight for the boss is available, people will likely take it.
As for skipping bosses, some of them such as the Bonus events offer little to no reward, the same reward that can be obtained from joining any event outside the dungeon. While others like Kohler, aren’t enjoyable or rewarding enough. Even after the patch, that measly few silver from him and the crap loot from his chest aren’t worth the extra time it takes to kill him regardless of whether the group can do it efficiently or not.
I don’t have an issue with skipping trash or certain bosses/events in a dungeon. What I loathe is all the glitches people do in dungeons to more easily kill a boss or a trash pull, which leads to Anet redesigning the encounter in a way that negatively effects that boss or path of a dungeon. Such as all the people that pulled Giganticus back closer to the waypoint and how Anet stopped that by changing his aggro leash, which now causes him to reset often.
Skipping is fine, Glitching is not.
(edited by Braxxis.7062)
Leap/Glitch to skip barriers.
??
Profit.
??
Profit.
Or you can do this, which is a glitch, will get fixed, and then you can go “well I dunno how to do this now”.
I just did this one yesterday with a pug, with a group that couldn’t kill the waves efficiently, and then we discovered something very simple.
Run across bridge, jump onto the ledge on the right
Wait for trash wave to run by then rush the golem
Ignore any waves that come and just burst down the golem
Waypoint back to the start
Return to ledge at the bridge when it’s safe
Rush barriers
Pull Asura boss to the gate behind him, kill him
The rest is simple.
At level 10+ the Dredge Powersuit gets absurd, and not because of the bombs. It’s that AoE of his that hits anyone in the room. Couple that with Agony and it’s going to down anyone unlucky enough to get hit by both. Everything else he does is tolerable, but that room-wide Aoe needs to be toned down. Or at least have a smaller range on it.
The responses to this topic indicate one thing.
RNG exists in GW2.
Further responses are still indicating this.
No, he just resets. We’ve all been right up under him by about 20 feet during Phase 1, and he’ll reset. He resets a lot, it gets infuriating.
He’s also got a problem with dropping an extra grub, on no target, during his first Shadow Walk and eating it instantly as it spawns at his target location.
Hello,
Does anyone know if there are any other glowing daggers than the Ghastly ones from AC? And does Ghastly glow during daytime now also?
I don’t believe any of the other daggers glow. A lot of them have different effects, like the CoE ones have sparks of electricity running along them, and the Corrupted Daggers give off a frosty aura.
As for Ghastly during the day, no they don’t. I wish they did because they look bland without it.
I just want him not to reset while I kite him in Phase 2

That’s just it, we’ve all made it through the Fractal without tripping any traps, but not all at the same time, and none of us have gotten it.
Is this a group based achievement? My group and I have gotten all of the other Fractals achievements but we’ve been unable to get this one individually even though we’ve each completed the Instance numerous times without tripping any of the traps. We’ve never gotten through it without one of us hitting one though so we’ve begun to think this one is group based even though none of the others like this (The Floor is Lava, Carrier Cacophony, Take a Bow, Hop Skip and Jump, Flawless Fins Foil) are.
Bonus chest is daily.
The one after beating the Jade Maw?
I’ve gotten it 4 times in a day. I probably would have gotten it more if we had continued another round of 7 Fractals.
Could be worse. Could have done over 50 Fractals and still not have a single Vial of Condensed Mist Essence to make a new back piece with.
My usual group actually chants “Swampland” when we enter a new set of Fractals in the hopes of having a super quick one. We can blow through there in 5 minutes or less.
TLDR; Swamp is easy, communicate better with pugs.
On top of everything the ore itself can be “annoying”
P.S. Before you ask i always use Ori Picks.
That can happen with pretty much any resource. I -think- it has smth to do with getting hit while gathering…even though the item description doesn’t mention it…
It does and doesn’t. It can occur while not in combat or getting hit. It does seem to occur with a higher frequency if you are getting hit, but that’s not the only factor behind this happening.
As for the Champion Karka, after having done the event, both Phase 2 and 3, I’d actually prefer more players NOT join the fight against him. Prior to Phase 3 a small 10 man group got in past the webbing on the right side and zerged that Hive for that node and just general exploration. We took down both that Champion and the one just outside the Hive in a couple minutes with very little difficulty and maybe 1 or 2 downs. Now turn around and fight it with 20+ people and everyone starts dropping dead because the Karka seems to increase the frequency of how often it rolls/body bombs you the more people beating on it.
With the Champion Karka’s, less is better.
Yes Ghastly. They look great at night, I just wish they had the glow effect all the time.
And previewing weapons in the PVP Locker doesn’t help due to Previews not showing any “effects”.
Ghastly Daggers
And since I dislike the look of all the Shortbows in the game, I went with the Ebonhawke Shortbow which shows as a Longbow.
Well, the strafing works with any ranged. I wasn’t saying that it works only in P/D. :p In P/D I have the added benefit of stacking bleeds with my auto. Death blossom does evade, which is a good skill as I used it a lot as a D/D condition thief, but for the initiative and amount of bleeds it stacks, I would rather do C&D/Sneak Attack with P/D, which does more damage and stacks more bleeds.
Of course, I didn“t meant that it works only with P/D ;-)
I prefer the Deathly blossom because of the bleeding duration advantage (15secs with +50% extra bleeding duration), you can stack 25 bleeding stack easier than with P/D, also the extra evading is great when combined with dodge caltrops, utility caltrops and steal with vigor boon on it, works wonders when stacking bleedsI would like to see your build, sir. :-p
The death blossom uses up initiative rather quickly. You can get a maximum of 3 off before you have to wait until you can get more initiative. It’s definitely great for multiple targets, but not so much for consistent damage, imo. I guess in PvE it’s fine except when you’re up against a Champion. I find that P/D C&D/Sneak attack offers greater survivability in comparison to a D/D thief and condition build. Besides, more stacks means they bleed out faster, but if they have a lot of health, you may want to trade burst bleeding for consistent bleeding.
I’m assuming here because I’m not him, but I’d guess it’s
20/0/0/20/30 with Hastened Replenishment
Lyssa Runes
Agony Sigil
That gives your Death Blossom bleeds a (nearly) 15 second duration, with Steal and your Heal giving back near full Intitiative, you can spam DB, dodge twice for Caltrops, DB again with returned initiative, pop Steal and Heal, repeat.
Sustained 12+ stack of Bleeds even on Champions/Legendaries
This event is bugged yet again. Run up the stairs, kill the Risen, kill the Champion Risen Giant, and no further Risen spawn in order to complete the Culling part.
So end of the day, and the bridge and the camp have NOT had an event to fix them or restore them.
Neither has Canach’s Folly.
(edited by Braxxis.7062)
So what’s with the changes to the zone after the routine maintenance update?
Also there really needs to be a waypoint in the area around Canach’s Folly / Seashell Hills. Or at least a bridge from Owain’s Refuge.
(edited by Braxxis.7062)
The Server uses – Zerg
It Misses
The Ancient Karka uses – Lag
It is Super Effective!
Absolutely loved this one, loved being back in the Jade Sea, and that Jade Maw boss was fun as hell.
But!
We killed every single mob in the Fractal, each Tentacle was killed at least once, and we even killed the little Crab critters. We didn’t get Open Grave. What did we miss?
But it had the hilarious “watch zerg rush at Veteran Karka…..watch whole zerg suddenly need to be ressed” moments.
I’m having the same trouble with this JP as with clock tower (other players). I’d be happy to wait until there are fewer people but I’m worried about the champ at the end. Is he solo-able?
The champ at the end is after the jumping puzzle, on the island across the way. You can get there by jumping across the wooden planks on the other side of the boat.
You don’t have to ever encounter that mob if you choose not to. It’s just guarding a second regular chest.
Skipping Stones Puzzle – Southeast of the Lion Point Waypoint. Go around the the rock wall to the south and head for the Geysers.
Under New Management Puzzle – Pearl Islet Waypoint. Climb to the top of the building the Consortium NPC’s are in.
It’s too bloody small!
That is all.
I enjoyed it after I figured out what to do with the geysers. I am now searching for the other puzzle.
Edit: Found the other puzzle, it’s at Pearl Islet. Much shorter and simpler then Skipping Stones.

During this weekend event yes, everyone will be scaled to level 80 for the dungeon. After the event ends, you will need to be 80 to do it.
How would you swap characters for Fractals? Getting DC’d or leaving the current Fractal blocks players from getting back in with their party, I would assume character swapping would do the same thing.
After looking at Stephane Lo Presti’s Phase 1 update more carefully (which is confusingly written, btw), this seems to be the case:
Because Noll is still bugged, you are effectively stopped in progress after you talk to Blingg. Canach and other NPCs come after Noll, and if you can’t successfully pass Noll, they won’t work for you. So the update by Lo Presti should have better clarified and made obvious that the quest chain is still broken at Noll and there’s no point attempting to do anything else after Blingg until they push the fix to Noll at noon PST today.
BTW for those confused about the proper order of things, I recommend Dulfy’s guide to the Lost Shores stuff: http://dulfy.net/2012/11/16/gw2-lost-shores-event-guide/
You know. HOW is a person supposed to know that you have to do Knoll first. Even in the tool tip on the top right hand corner of the screen it says "The Karka have surfaced in Kessex Hills, Caledon Forrest, and Lions Arch. It even names Kessex Hills before Caledon Forrest!
There is no other way, no clue, no anything, that hints that there is an order to the chain. I’m all about figuring things out and even enjoy it. But this isn’t about figuring out a clue or a something. It just is what it is, and there is no way to know.
Very Frustrated!
The mail that gets sent to you on log in that tells you to go talk to Inspector Ellen Kiel? Who then tells you to go search the western shores of Lion’s Arch for wreckage, which then gives you an item to bring to her, which she then sends you to talk to Blingg, who then sends you a notice in the mail to go to Noll? After beating him you are sent to Canach.
It’s pretty straight forward and obvious to anyone paying attention what the order is. Reading is a nifty concept.
Done it with 2 different pug groups so far and enjoyed it both times. Only done Level 1 and 2 so far but both were fun.
1. Cliffside – So much fun, I love the Colossus at the end turning and bowing to you.
2. Swampland – It’s really easy if you just explain how to do it and everyone listens. I don’t see why there is all the hate
3. Volcanic – I laughed so hard when the shaman dove off into the Lava. Almost got the achievement for not stepping in lava but that stealthy little hole just before the last boss got me.
4. Snowblind – So….my group and I didn’t notice the Bonfires at the Blizzard until after we killed it. We actually were running from the large fire back at the Ice Wall to the Blizzard and back, took forever. We facepalmed afterwards, got a good laugh, and moved on.
5. Aquatic Ruins – I enjoyed it, we laughed a bit when someone got nom’d by the Piranha before realizing that dark is bad. Jellyfish was a little lengthy, but not hard. Still haven’t seen anyone get turned into a Dolphin =(
6. Urban Battleground – Didn’t complete this one due to not pulling the seigemaster out and nuking her. But it was still awesome, everyone turning into Charr.
I haven’t done Uncategorized or Solid Ocean yet. Looking forward to both of them.
The swamp is near impossible with a PUG that lacks coordination.
The cultists takes hours.
The charr one is 50/50.
Only ones I’ve enjoyed are the dolphin one and the asura jumping puzzle one.
The dolphin one? Is that the one with Jellyfish at the end? It seems to be on the achievement page, but I’ve done that one twice and no one was turned into a Dolphin. The only other water one I know of is the Ocean one and I have yet to do that.
You investigate the wreckage on the shore in Lion’s Arch, take the item you get to Inspector Kiel, which sends you to talk to Blingg over at the Fractals entrance, which leads you to Noll, which leads you to Canach.
But Noll is currently bugged so getting anything from Canach might not be possible at this time.
There’s a similar skeleton in one of the Orr jumping puzzles at the end chest
I haven’t gotten anything for beating him but then again, I can’t do Noll to lead to him so that may be it.
I like the Largos fix, where he is just stuck in the event, you just swim over and take the item from the chest.
