49.5 seconds. We didn’t beat dnt’s record but we are getting more consistently clean rotations and runs without changing our group set up.
Nice! I see GL spent a significant amount of time in phase 1 with fewer than 20 stacks of vuln, would it possibly give a better return to drop banner of Tactics for another On My Mark?

I do about 2 hours a day, 1 on my warrior and 1 on my mesmer. Over the past few days I’m seeing a LOT more people running now that aren’t very good at the Effigy. Folks not dodging the knockdown, and not repositioning for the other attacks. I also don’t see a lot of the warriors doing the HB-WW-swap-Axe-swap rotation. I don’t think there’s been a buff to the effigy at all.
Cue Hrouda chiming in with his usual “wow, I’ll have our people take a look at that and make sure nothing funky is happening”
What can be both an asset and a crutch when you’re doing a normal run is a liability, playstyle wise, when you finally get an optimized team for these runs.
This is a core truth about optimized (read: efficient) dungeon running that is not yet fully understood among the general community. I wish so hard that more people understood this, because it’s so frustrating to try to have conversations about group and build optimization and have people jump in with “well my full Cleric’s guardian never dies so therefore I’m doing something right”.
Also, try not to take it personally when people nitpick every action you guys take in a GL speed kill video. People aren’t telling you you’re an idiot or a bad player because you dodged when you weren’t the grub target, or you wasted a dodge when you could have used whirlwind. GL speedkills are a game of seconds (46 seconds now!), and perfecting every second counts. So take those suggestions as constructive criticism and use them to improve.
Great job at 61 seconds, now get out there and break that 60s barrier like DnT just did.!
I’m guessing he meant ranged auto. Glad this is getting looked at, I enjoy scepter but it’s weak atm
Yes ranged auto. Sorry.
I understand accidentally a word, happens to us all. But my tests with guardian and ranger still show Ranger SB and LB either just barely outdamaging Scepter 1, or at least keeping par with it, depending on your frame counting and stopwatch accuracy. As I posted before, with a steady weapon setup, no armor/trinkets/traits and attacking the Target Golem – Light, Scepter 1 was showing 85 DPS compared to 86 on the shortbow and something like 84-86 on the longbow.
I mean, maybe this is a case of the numbers under the engine being hard to directly measure from the outside, but if your intention is to have Guardian’s Scepter 1 be demonstrably higher DPS than other ranged auto attacks, it needs a damage boost as well as a projectile fix.
http://youtu.be/POCFYrom2f8 – A video recording of the testing I was doing.
I think you should try comparing ranged weapons as you can’t compare ranged dps to melee dps.
“I will say that when this does hit it is the highest DPS #1 skill in the game.” That’s a pretty unambiguous statement. But I went ahead and looked at some other ranged weapons anyway. Ranger SB 1 can get off 20 shots in 10 seconds for 43 damage, which is 86 DPS. Ranger LB 1 can get off 9 shots in 10s for 98 each, so 88 DPS. 88 is higher than 85 (guardian’s scepter1), so uhhh, QED?
Edited to add: perhaps there’s a skill coefficient to modify the base crit chance, but with this same steady weapon tests in the mists I’m still seeing the same 4% base that my character currently has (for scepter 1).

Jon, can you post some numbers backing up the claim that Scepter 1 is the highest DPS auto in the game? Cause unless I’m missing something huge, I’m not seeing it.
I’m in the mists right now at the target golems with a steady weapon setup and no armor/trinket/traits. Scepter 1 hits the Light Golem for 68 damage a pop. If I stand there and attack for say, 10 seconds, I should get 12-13 hits depending on how accurate I am with this stopwatch. Say 12.5 attacks, times 68 damage per, for 850 damage over 10 seconds or 85 DPS.
However, if I switch to greatsword, I can get off 4 autoattack cycles in 10 seconds. At 89-89-133 damage every swing (ignoring the might stack), that, 311 damage per chain, and 1244 damage over the 10s for 124.4 DPS. And that’s just Guardian GS1, not even looking at folks like Thief Dagger1 or Warrior Axe1 (which is actually the highest #1 in the game).
Am I missing something here that makes Scepter 1 the highest DPS #1 attack in the game?
Name: Broadicea.8294

Gear: Ascended/Exotic, all Knight’s/Berserker/Valkyrie
Traits: Power/Crit builds, AH build for my Guardian
Experience: Have not completed any Arah paths, though I watch Strife’s videos on it and am willing to learn from vets. I run the other dungeons very frequently.
Schedule: On basically every day for a few hours after 5 PM EST.
Other: Prefer speed clearing, not with exploits but by skipping trash mobs, meleeing when possible, etc.
Aloha folks. I’m in the market to join a guild mainly for explorable-mode dungeon running. I’m not looking for crazy-full zerker-hardcore, but simply competent and experienced. I’d prefer an 18+ guild that is open and friendly.
My own dungeon experience is:
-AC more times than I care to remember
-CM only a few, tough to find groups and I haven’t gotten the hang of it yet
-Just started running TA for the armor set, PUGs are typically awful for this which prompted my looking for a guild
-Haven’t touched SE
-COF lots, though I’ve never gotten around to p3
-HOTW a few times, I dislike the tediousness of the bosses but it’s easy enough
-COE enough for 2 and a half sets of armor
-Haven’t touched Arah
-Currently level 19 fractal on my guardian.
I have 3 level 80s (AH-build guardian, Valk/Zerk mesmer, and full Zerker thief) and will have a warrior up there soon. I can totally be a huge asset to your dungeon-running groups! (My god this feels like writing up a resume and cover letter… /shudder)
Anyway, I’m currently on Ehmry Bay and plan on transferring back to my preferred server, Crystal Desert. Don’t mind guesting for open world stuff, of course it wouldn’t matter for dungeons. Hit me up!
