Do we get the gold for the time we invested?
Since our rewards are being removed from the game we may as well. Going by 3k+ hours played and you can farm what 10g an hour in pve? Let’s say I was playing 2k hours of that continuously that’s 20,000 gold.

So I will effectively be behind pve players in pvp rewards because of this new gold bs. UNLESS I’m compensated for the rewards they’re removing. Or are we being screwed over again?

Glopry is going to be convertable into gold. That’s your reward.

Will we keep the current glory we have now?

lol what, no. Some people don’t have the time to play with a team due work or school. People should be rewarded the same for winning a match, regardless if it’s solo or in a team.

So people who organize and go against harder teams should be rewarded the same as people who aren’t organized and go against easier teams?

invite people to party, que up for team que, tough life huh? If people in a team want to earn something go enter a tourney, there are enough sites out there that are handing gems/money out to the top 3 or even lower. Stop kittening about dumb kitten, just because you’re in a team doesn’t mean you have the right to earn more than other casual players.

So it seems like I wasn’t entirely wrong. I just ran a couple tests with a necro who was very kind to help me and it seems that most conditions who have been applied the most recently get cleansed first. However there were a few exceptions, whenever I had blind on me it seemed to take priority above others. I still can’t tell for sure how it all works.

You will probably have to pause the video a couple times to see which conditions get cleansed first.
Note that I can cleanse conditions by
1. Attuning to water
2. dodge rolling into water
3. using water 5 from off hand dagger

Have you ever followed the sotg’s in the past? People actually discussed back then how ele used to be OP cause they could heal so much in a short amount of time. And what did the devs respond ? " They are supposed to do that " And I couldn’t agree more. We are a light armor class which means we lack about 300 toughness already compared to heavy armor classes. We have no stealth, nor decent escape abilities except for ride the lightning and lightning flash. And since they nerfed ride the lightning from 20 seconds to 40 seconds you can imagine we have it rarely up as an escape ability. Other light armor classes have other things, mesmers have blinks/stealth and necro has deathshroud.
If you nerf the healing ability on ele you might as well ask to delete the class. other then that we can barely offer anything to our team.

This is a point control game and stealth doesn’t help keep a point or contest it.

In team fights the phantasms/illusions get wiped instantly from the amount of aoe in team fights.

Phantasm mesmers are great dueling classes but lack the DPS in team fights and the point holding/contention solo.

Am I saying they’re bad or not viable? Absolutely not. I just don’t think they’re optimal for this particular game mode. Plus it’s a low-skill class so I hate seeing people run it. If people harp on this then duel my mesmer, I’ve played on her 2-3 hours and will roast you with it.

I see a lot of comments lately of people saying that anet “favours” certain classes such as warriors, this is untrue, although it’s a fact that warriors are over the top now that doesn’t mean they actually like one class more then another. I’d like to remind everyone that not less 4 months ago warriors were unviable and no one wanted them in their team. either they ran a 100b frenzy build or some other weird build that would almost be ineffective. 1 mistake back then for them meant instant death, especially to conditions.
I’m not trying to defend them what so ever, I play elementalist so I can imagine the position they must have in been what I’m in currently. So don’t get me wrong, balance is still a big issue that should be looked at, I actually despise people that play cheesy builds such as hammer warrior, spirit ranger, s/d thief, tanky decap engi builds, and certain necro builds.
Each class will have it’s moment of glory, but that doesn’t mean Anet is more biased towards that class then others.

I was thinking about making a thread this morning explaining my frustration how absolutely ridiculous it is that a warrior can eat a full churning earth while I die with 3 autto attacks from hammer. Kinda sucks when the warrior can make 20 mistakes and several other classes only 1, mainly power classes.

So they recently nerfed that invulnerability wouldn’t provide anything to the capture point contribution. Yet here you are asking that stealth should have some what an effect on what’s 10 times stronger and more spammable then invul will ever be. Okay, seems reasonable..

And for crit traits to proc like dhuumfire and incendiary powder you don’t need more then 20% crit chance, it will still proc often enough.
and blocks are very limited on every class, almost useless since it can go away with a simple auto attack, invul recentely got nerfed more by making it a non capture contribution so very little people still run it, they usually have long cooldowns and that still doesn’t ignore the fact I’m still taking damage while being invulnerable. Sounds absurd in my ears, “taking damage while being invulnerable”

Direct damage classes crit for 2K+ dmg, and a bleed with ~1kdmg in total is OP?

this 50% = 500 condition damage makes no sense. 50% duration means 50% more damage u deal with your condition. With 3k condition damage, 50% will result in more than 1,5k bonus condition damage, that sounds great, right? But do the math with precision and crit-dmg and you will see compareable numbers.

Although it is true that condition duration works based on how much condition damage you have, you can’t really compare how much condition duration you would need for achieving a certain amount of condition damage. In other words yes I was some what wrong on that fact. However, my calculation was probably based around 800 condition damage ( can’t really remember since it was so long ago when I did the math ) It’s the avarage number people get in spvp without having any sort of might stacks.

And like you said crit dmg works exactly the same probably, if I were to have 1k power and 50% crit dmg it would result in 1.5k power. However unlike conditions, power actually has several counters.

1. Our damage doesn’t keep damaging an opponent while dodge rolling
2. Protection
3. Weakness, glancing blows
4. And I would even say retaliation, the amount an elementalist spams his skills compared to a necro is a lot more.

You could counter the fact that conditions don’t have a lot of burst compared to power classes, and need these kind of advantages, that would be wrong. Yesterday I got 1 shot by a spirit ranger that the ranger actually laughed how fast I died. The same goes for necro’s, with a decent fear chain they can almost 1 shot everyone as well.

And not to mention they only need 2 specific stats in order to be effective, they can build defensively while power classes have to go full glass cannon in order to keep up with their damage.

Other then cleansing your conditions there is very little counter play to it.

I actually already talked about this in the past. It’s insane how strong condition duration is. If my math is right then 50% extra condition duration equals +500 condition damage. That’s rougly 14 stacks of might constantly.

I already said this in the past. There’s barely any counterplay to these kinds of builds, they are incredible hard to kill, can decap points in seconds, and on top of that got decent counter pressure as well. It’s in 1 word just lame.

When gw2 is in Tab mode people often forget they were que’d cause they don’t hear any sound from the game itself.
When I que in games such as HoN I can easily switch tabs between my internet explorer and the game, whenever it starts you can hear a clear message.
I would actually stay in game if there was something do to, but since hotjoin doesn’t give glory anymore I don’t feel like waiting 10 minutes doing nothing. So if I happen to forget the que oh well might sound rough but tough luck for you guys.

I’ll talk about elementalist since I’ve been playing it since beta.

The things I will mention are the things I disagree with, everything els is fine.

  • Water V – Cleansing Wave: It’s one of the very few condition removals an elementalist has. And for it to be effective he still has to put a lot of points into arcana for it to be good. Even after the buff to the elemental cooldown it would mean you can only remove 1 condition every 13 seconds. Which is not extremly great for a master tier trait.
  • Arcane V – Elemental Attunement and Arcane VI – Renewing Stamina: Yes 1 should be moved to a master tier but not both, each one of those traits are almost an essence to have on an elementalist. My suggestion would be to put Arcane VI into the master trait, that way elementalists still have the choice to pick between a slightly less effective endurance regen traits such as Arcane VII ( vigorous scepter ) if they would only put 10 points into arcana.
  • Earth VII: I would honestly put this into the adept trait tier. Elementalist has very little ways to deal condition damage, for it to work they have to stack into toughness for it to be effective, meaning they would lack a lot into vitality and other departments. There are a lot of better traits to take into earth and personaly I would never take that trait, not even if it was in the adept trait line.

Small thing about reducing the elemental cooldown. I like this idea a lot, it will open a lot of build diversity for sure but there is still one big main issue in arcana. And that is evasive arcana. It gives INSANLY a lot for being 1 trait, it gives me every 10 second a 1.3k heal and removing 1 condition, A blast finisher, 5 second burning, and a blind (not that great but still)

Personally I wouldn’t know how to solve this since it’s an extremely important trait and without it an elementalist probably wouldn’t be viable anymore. It needs to be a grand master trait but somehow reworked that you’re not forced to spend 30 points into arcana. maybe put it into a different trait line? Although I wouldn’t know exactly which one. I would like to know how other elementalist think about this.

There are only a handfull of skills in this game which currently grant invulnerability http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Invulnerability

2 of them are from an elementalist and it really hurts to use mistform now. I tried running different things with these changes such as armor of earth and glyph of renewal, armor of earth usually only backfires against me cause of necro’s, thiefs and mesmers boonstripping, and it has a 90 second cooldown, the glyph cast time takes about as long as a stomp animation, if not longer so it’s really hard to time.

I honestly don’t understand this change, sure invulnerability is strong but it shouldn’t get such drastic changes. Mistform already got nerfed in the past by making it so we can’t cast skills while inside it. As an elementalist you are basicly forced to go glasscannon now if you want to do enough burst to overcome the regen abilities of other classes. Especially against warriors it’s extremely hard to deal some counter pressure while dodging his stuns and main damage. Mist form helped me A LOT with this. 3 seconds of invulnerability while defending a point is a huge deal, in those 3 seconds I can get water back up and hold on the point for a bit longer.

Most of the skills make you unable to do anything while being invulnerable, so what is the big deal here? Focus was already barely used by an elementalist and now got even more nerfed into the ground.

There are other abilities that grant almost the same effect as invulnerability and yet they don’t get the same treatment. Just please revert it back.

Most of the people that complain about not being able to kill this “God” class, are using outdated or unreliable builds like cantrip ele, some random hybrid mesmer build, or d/d thief. Use a meta build and know how the game works and you can kill any warrior. Maybe not with ease, but it can be done. Sadly this game has turned into Meta Build Wars 2, so if you aren’t using a meta build (correctly) you’re bound to get mushed. I would be pestering about adding more viable build variety to other classes instead of removing build variety for one class. I’m not saying warriors don’t need a nerf (me personally adrenaline needs to be used up when they miss their burst), but I’m also not saying their an unbeatable monster that haunts my dreams at night.

I don’t understand why people keep saying cantrips are bad on ele’s. It’s still a really solid choice to take, especially with all these stuns builds going around. Only thing that got nerfed even more recently is mistform. It doesn’t provide a capture point contribution anymore so I rather take armor of earth. Other then our cantrips we got very little survivability, what els should I take, bloody arcane spells ? it provides almost nothing in this current meta.
Sometimes it really frustrates me when people complain about certain builds/classes and don’t have enough information about them to really judge whats going on.

i notice some ele’s are getting tanky nowadays. i dont think that they are always the first one to die in a team fight.

eles move so fast. it’s really hard to catch them.

What are you playing, a guardian? lol, seriously, if you cant catch an ele you might definitely want to recheck your build!

i only get speed buff from my storm spirit proc. you all know how slow a ranger moves without a signet.

what i’m saying is that eles are getting viable after the latest patch. i see them getting stronger. believe me.

btw, guardians are not slow pokes. they can also move really fast.

Elementalists didn’t get jack kitten last patch. Conjures are still kittening useless and they nerfed mist form even more by making it a non-capture point contribution. in the end, we got nothing while other classes got buffed.

You get bombarded with heart seekers. Quick! Obsidian flesh! 222222… Stun! 22222… Respawn there is nothing you can do as an ele when facing the braindead thief players.

I stopped reading after that. If you can’t even kill these so called “brain dead” thieves who spam 2, then you’re doing something very wrong with your ele. Seems more than a l2p issue.

If you want anet to reward skill, then at least learn to kill heartseeker spamming thieves first before considering yourself skilled.

Hearthseeker shouldn’t indeed be that big of an issue for a ele. But a S/D thief spamming 3 is a different story. Getting 3k autoattacks, having every single burst skill of yours evaded ain’t fun. Even if you try to time it right there’s very little you can do as an elementalist against a S/D thief.

Phoenix removes ALL condition when its return to you ,not 1.
If it’s just remove 1 , so they (Anet “balance guys”) change it ( Im not playing for a long time before the patch so im not sure )

A small list of things that not a lot of people know when playing elementalist.
If you have any good ones yourself, feel free to let it know in this thread

  • Rock barrier grants a total 250 toughness when holding the rocks, you lose 50 toughness for each rock you throw at your enemy. Each rock also counts as a physical projectile, making it great to combine with a fire field since 1 projectile finisher counts as a 1 second burning.
  • Blowouts can also be used on downed body’s, so even if you’re opponent has stability and is hoping for a safe ress you can still blowout the downed body out of his ressing range. Skills that have blowout are: Updraft, Wind Blast from lightning hammer and Tornado.
  • Tornado automatically causes the blowout, it’s always better to either cast electrified tornado or dust tornado. The 120 knockback you get from debris tornado is never worth it.
  • Updraft isn’t only a blowout but also gives 10 second of swiftness and makes you evade attacks for 1 second.
  • Frost Aura doesn’t only cause chill for 2 seconds when your opponent hits you, it also decreases all incoming direct damage by 10%.
  • Phoenix removes 1 condition when it returns to you.
  • Phoenix is also unblockable.
  • Mist form can be used to guarantee a stomp if you cast the stomp animation right before you click on mistform.
  • Arcane spells always critical hit, unless you get a glancing blow from weakness
  • Fire fields grant 3 stacks of might for 20 seconds when casting a blast finisher in it. Can go up the more boon duration you have.
  • Skills such as blinding flash can be used to stomp these classes without wasting a utility that would grant stability or invulnerability: Warrior, guardian, necro, engineer, ranger (hard to time though)
  • Attunement swapping also counts as switching weapons.

Coming from an ele who has played since beta day 1 our main roles are (depending on build viarity ofcourse)

- Point Assault, we got decent ways to get to point quickly such as ride the lightning and lightning flash. usually also enough damage to kill a point defender in a reasonable amount of time.

- Burst, this is probably one the best things about being an elementalist. We are second best after thief, we got some good instant cast skills that deal nice damage.

- Direct damage pressure, don’t need much explenation here, pretty obvious since we don’t have any kind of condi pressure except for burning.

- Boon creation, We got some really great ways to stack might with combo fields aswel as giving protection through certain traits.

- Stomp securing, multiple ways to finish off people such as: Mistform, instant blind casts, Armor of Earth, blocking through arcane shield, etc..

- Stomp prevention, we got a reasonable amount to CC, such as earthquake and updraft.

- Roaming, second best after thief. We got multiple ways of gaining swiftness and having skills such as ride the lightning and lightning flash.

- Support? This isn’t really mentioned unless this falls under team utility. I would say an elementalist has great acces to supporting his team by giving regen, protection, swiftness, might and healing them.

Hmm what ele can bring??Depends for the build.S/f fresh air for example can bring great sustain range damage,great instant burst,amazing downed damage (amazingly broken downed damage if you run with the greatsword elite),good roaming, great projectile reflections ,immunity for clutch rezzes or stomps and of course aoe prot and regen.
You might think that other classes get more such as warrior who has the numbers with is side but balance is not only about raw numbers. Balance has to also take into account in combat speed ,reach of your attacks,speed of your attacks,combat options etc
For example the ele air scepter burst is instant.That means that in perfect play you should always land it.It doesnt matter how hard it is,or how many button presses there are.Landing it is entirely based on your part and that is a huge bonus that wont show when you lay down the health and armor numbers.Now weather things are fair its another deal
Mobas have hard champions for example and people use them.If the game had more active pvp scene there might have been eles in the mlg.But not when half the teams didnt even practice for it ..lol

Btw try this combo for the lols (i d never try that in a real fight :P )
Put air on cd and have rockbarrier and earth up. Go phoenix-earth-blink(before phoenix is casted)-earth-magnetic wave-1arcane (recharge air with fresh air bypassing global cd)-air-L strike-arcane2
If you want to max damage pick 15 earth minor to add another instant damage spell
Can someone produce more damage at same or less time with any class??

The reason why people didn’t practice ele for tournaments is because they simply know it’s unviable at a higher skill ceiling.

One of the big reasons why ele is simply unviable right now is

1. They have little impact on heavy armor classes such as warrior even when you are full glass cannon. By the time I get my cooldowns back up to deal damage, the warrior will be full health again because of his regen abilities

2. The heavy condi meta. Although we have a decent amount of condition removal it’s nothing compared with the rate conditions can be spammed. + if we have weakness on ourself we’re simply kittened. It’s even worse then having 20 stacks of bleeding on you. Cuts your endurance regeneration in half which is the main surivability for a squishy class as ele, and it also makes a crit dmg build completely useless.

3. Our mobility got cut dramaticly in the past. Yes I’m talking about rtl. 25 seconds would have been a more rightfull nerf. 40 seconds is simply ridiculous, although you can get a 20 second rtl cooldown IF you hit someone let’s face it, who the kitten can’t dodge such an obvious animation..

Phantaram even made a giant post in the past what needed to be changed because it was too strong, this was coming from an expierenced pro player who was in one of the best teams. Yet Anet still didn’t make dramatic changes after that or after pax.

Balance has been a joke for a while now. If you aren’t playing warrior, ranger, necro, engineer, thief or guardian might aswel just do your daily’s until things are balanced again. That’s what I’m doing currently.
