bas I watched the video and apart from a few heals that you missed you bunked really well. was quite impressed! I usually play a condition spec in Tpvp but am getting used to playing power a bit but no as effective as id like at the moment.

DanH. when I roll my thief in wvw I get just as many bags as I do on necro (and im just an average thief)

if you try a shatter rotation on mesmer then do your bleed rotation on necro. you will see what i mean by the pace of game play. and yes you can argue that they are similar game play speeds, but they are not.

even if you use more complicated bleed rotations. I.e. Mark on dodge, weakening shroud and darkpath etc etc. there s hardly a comparison.

I would rather play a necro than mesmer, but thats because I like the slow patient planning you can do with necro during a fight.

Copenhagen, the detonation idea is actually a very good idea! would be great fun to play with, if u dark path and instantly regret it (their zerg pops out of nowhere) u could detonate before it hits to minimise ur risk. offering us more control over our abilities.

if the difference in speed of game play doesn’t kill you I guarantee you’ll love necro.

double wielding greatsword would be pretty epic… ;-)

no it wasnt just doom I was using admired. I have always had the same results with reapers mark too.

would definitely make warhorn an awesome weapon. though people that daze folks in their wells so theyre effectively inactive probably wouldn’t be a fan of the change.

I have access to enough stability on my guardian (with boon duration) to have about 15s of stability using shouts and my traited aegis. This is without taking hallowed ground and im sure there are more utilities for stability on guardian? I also have invulnerable on elite which in turn recharges my aegis giving me more stability when activated.

necromancer has 3s of stability 30 points into a trait line.
I think necromancers would enjoy more access to the boon.

the only fall traits I use are for warrior (all the time) and thief (sometimes). as they have really useful effects. I find the necro fall trait is surrounded by superior traits that makes the fall trait a wasted trait slot in my opinion.

coming from playing a necro to checking out the mesmer forums… im confident my necro can ‘out condition’ your mesmer. unless of course your mesmer can apply and maintain 17-25 stack of bleeds and baring in mind I can turn ur conditions against you (multiple times)

I prefer the zerker play style over the hybrid. but zerk necro , if you dont take staff or epidemic, is painfully single target outside of wells.

I agree with you totally. both that stability would be a massive buff (maybe warranting a nerf in other areas) and that the necro is unlikely to receive alot fixes this month.

I also agree that this stability buff most likely will not happen… unfortunately.

even if the stability given by spectral armor (if they buffed it with stability) was the same duration as foot in the grave it would allow us to secure stomps in 1vX fights without having to use an elite.
this would be a huge buff.

though id rather have 6s of stability than I would protection.

I dont like going 30 into a trait line to get a boon that would be a compliment to my build. as it means my whole build is compromised as I’ve spent 30 points complimenting it.

and you can use DS as a block if needed. vigor on the other hand would be delicious.

even if they put “stability on spectral armor” as a minor trait in SR or death im sure you would see a huge increase in SA users.

I would love it if spectral armor gave us stability but cant see that happening.

it bugs me how fun necro is to play 1v1 and how that changes as soon as 1 other enemy arrives. I have won a few 1v2’s but its alot easier to do so on other classes purely due to our lack of mobility. will be keeping a close eye on this thread.

most of my 1vX succes has been with terror condition builds. won a 1v3 before using a terror set up but wouldn’t say they were equally skilled opponents.

thats not true admired I have had 70% fear duration and got 2 ticks on fear. its just not reliable. the closer to 100% fear duration you get the more reliable your second tick of dmg will be.

I used a hybrid axe/focus staff build going 30/10/10/0/20 using terror as a good CC and dmg dealer. I used necro runes and the 50% fear duration trait, this with 30 in spite gave me 100% fear duration. I used rampager amulet and found this to be extremely effective in hot join, though I felt too squishy when I got focused to take it to tournaments.

I use staff and dagger dagger while leveling my 2nd necro. I am lvl 35 at the moment so traits arnt too indepth. I am going for a power spec though eventually as I want my other necro to be purely conditions. I am using 5/10/10/0/0 at the moment taking weakening shroud in curses and greater marks in death. I use blood is power epidemic and well of suffering with plague as elite. I have been having no issues levelling with this so far. I can’t seem to hurt mobs 10 lvls higher than me though as they are immune to my damage?! habut I would rerecommend trying out the set up I just mentioned. I can get a 10 stack of bleeds on target and epidemic to spread without using staff. I find this on a melee spec to be very effective for leveling. though I am experienced with necro which is maybe why I can take out groups of mobs up to 9lvls higher than me.

you have wasted a sigil slot as you have 2 stacking sigils and only one of those will work at any given time. I would maybe put force on one of them for 5% more dmg.

I would love frostfang. but theres no way im grinding for a legendary.

and otaking. with our corruption abilities and multiple slows and boon strips you think we couldn’t render all those boons useless? yes invulnerable is annoying but its only limited to CD’s and it isnt like they can go invulnerable for longer than 3-4secs.
maybe I do like being the underdog. but I rarely lose in a 1v1 fight in spvp and am a great asset to my team in tpvp. so that makes all the fancy invulnerability and blocks a wasted CD and satisfying for me if I can beat them without it.

given that ^^ the whole underdog talk means nothing. as im not the underdog in most encounters.

crazyace I agree 100%. I was looking at this for scepter condition builds as when you use any of your abilities including dagger off hand your casting almost 50% of the time. givingyou 400 toughness 50% of the time would be very beneficial

the only thing I dislike about thieves (I have an 80 thief myself) is when you’re playing in spvp having a fun fight and someone obviously new to the game just mashes 2 and heartseeker spams you. I dont have many problems with thieves generally but it annoys the hell out of me that someone obviously lacking in skill can still be very effective. (I mean I literally dont see auto attacks sometimes) I admit to doubling the odd heart seeker here and there but burning through your whole initiative with 1 skill? really? rant over.

p.s. thieves are hard to play against for new comers, when a thief kills them tjey think theyre OP. there will always be QQ. like I proved by ranting myself. I just hope a-net doesnt further nerf u too much as a result.

my friend landed a 17k bs on an under leveled mesmer the other day. he one shotted him. not a myth just very unlikely to happen repeatedly.
this was without CnD as hes a d/p thief

ok I guess that’s a fair point. u can get instant enfeebling blood on DS (I know thats not the point your making but would be a good choice against melee enemies if u struggle to land the weapon version) I know what you mean about your only options being on a long cool down when you need to escape or stall them so u can heal etc. as I find that very frustrating. but u can combat that by pre planning to an extent ie. flesh wurm is awesome. if we were given more mobility skills I fear I would never play anything else ;-)

I thought that was the case wiazabi ty for clarifying. still I cant see that our cast times are overly excessive. longer than most other classes? yes but this all fits into the necro play style, beat someone down over time shutting them down etc if we could put chill vulnerability weakness blind and bleeds etc etc on a target witth no cast times to slow that all down, we would be godlike. I like the feel the cast times bring. ‘wait for it… bam now ive got you’ goes through my head alot.

crazyace I play different builds and variations of builds on my necro almost every time I log in. saying we have 3 builds is not right. conditions, support, power and hybrid. each have many different builds within those types. I would say we have the best build diversity in game.

I use the dark armor trait in death magic. now im happy with our cast times. I think we take so long to csst our skills because if they land they are very punishing. for example a duel with a warrior. he pops his signet elite, we use spinal shivers. his elite was wasted and is now chilled leaving us free to poke at him with other abilities in relative safety.

I also think of dagger 2 as the ele water 2 (almost) equivalent. really helps to have some healing on ahigh dmg skill.

have you used a condition terror build empiren?

what if they put axe mastery 20 points into spite? maybe reduce near to death dmg by 5%? that would be lovely (and OP)

albothelo. we can make our fear hurt. alot. that aline makes it more effective than anyone else’s fears.

I have no problem with there being other classes with access to fear. you could say the same about pets being ranger specific (terrible example I know).

when you get used to using your fears when they’ll matter rather than spamming them off cool down I think you’ll grow to appreciate what we have.

until then get yourself some necromancer runes rare veggie pizza and the 50% fear duration trait in soul reaping and enjoy your fears. (reapers protection is great with fear duration)

if you are struggling to stay alive with high toughness, the answer is not getting beserker gear. you will see why if you do so. I have a full rabbid set up and a full zerk set up and I can tank fairly well and dont go down much at all (if ever) in pve. on my zerk set up, small dmg hurts. so you have to be careful.

practice staying alive before going zerk as it will get twice as hard when you have no toughness or vitality.

I use 30/0/20/20/0 on my zerk set and am still hard to kill. maybe try something like that out.

I love the build diversity. almost every time I log in I switch traits and play something different with my necro. its great fun and not such a hectic pace of play that you dont know whats going on.

options for necro are huge and I love it.

I have an 80 guard warr and thief and necro is by far my favourite class. without a doubt.
