PS: I do know numbers help us. Especially with the noobzergs. Frustrating as hell when one is running around and not listening to anything. They just bang their heads against whatever target is in front of them. We have to get a good commander to come join the noobzerg with a decent amount of experienced players, THEN that noobzerg just follows the green tags in front of them.

Were losing because of coverage and simply too many people to deal with. You’ve probably noticed by now you wipe against FC zergs of equal size every single time and often wipe to FC zergs of less numbers, or at least half a tough time with them.

This is my point exactly. Number really do not mean as much as all the posters whine about. If you actually think about what is going on you can counteract the numbers fairly well, at least enough to not have SF doubling your score.

With that said, you are delusional if you think SF loses every time against equal numbers. These kind of generalizations just show ignorance instead of factual thinking. Perhaps the noobzergs have difficulty wiping, especially if they do not push when the commander/experienced players try to give direction. But in the meantime the groups I run with are taking structures while your folks deal with a portion of our numbers.

I am not saying we never get wiped or we win every time there are equal numbers. I am far more practical than that. Just do not fool yourself into thinking it is all a numbers game. Because it is not.

FWIW Cantur, Agg is actually pretty kitten impressive at times. They can hold out against a zerg regardless of numbers (or so it seemed last night). Unfortunately, they are limited in number, and having a small group of people hold them at QL last night, we ninja’s the rest of the ET structures before they had a chance to react and get out of their zergball in QL.

They are some tanky fiends, fun to fight.

I do not doubt that at all. With a group structured right and actually coordinating a battle, you can hold off some serious numbers. I am working on creating a suicide squad to focus on taking out these types of resistance groups and to take out siege when needed.

Ya, I can’t wait to have them give more business to my armor repair guy! Seriously missing WvW the last week, I am itching to murder people!

LOL, sorry but I have to say this. If all the “stories” about how awesome all these groups do against SF, how are you losing by TWICE (or more) your point total? If these groups were so coordinated then why are they in open field fights and not taking or defending structures?

Agree here. We have a very strong WvWvWest Coast presence, and a very strong PvE population too.

PS: When you transfer to SF (you know you want to :P) bring some of them US nighttime support, it is not our strong point atm.

I do not even think we have a SEA guild on our server. But if you read these threads you know SF has a pretty decent US daytime crew and we are looking for some more US nighttime support to round out our server. Just imagine, you could be the first (but hopefully not the last) SEA guild to help build up out rankings. We should (crosses fingers) be getting out of T8 soon and with some decent US nightime support will move up even further.

Please consider being the start of a strong SEA community on Sorrow’s Furnace.

Had a great time in WvW this weekend (wasn’t on as long as I usually am), thanks to all who fell beneath my whirling axes. And I guess also to those who chase me down and hack me to pieces. My money needs to go to something instead of a Legendary. I just hate giving it to that slacker repair guy. You would think I would start getting a volume discount of SOMETHING!!

As with any Server, I am sure you have your mature and respectful members, that can be civil even while playing a war game. In fact, I hope that the antics of some of your posters do not in fact reflect the maturity of the whole.

Personally, and I can speak for a good chunk of ET when I say that some of your posters do your server as a whole a disservice with their every post.

As I can say the same for your server. SF just has a larger population than you do so we have more representatives to post that crap than you do.

Just out of a near hour and a half long tower battle with Sorrows Furnace. My server just got attacked three to one odds, for near an hour and a half the outcome of the battle was anyone’s guess until SF reinforcements arrived set up three catapults to attack our wall. We held out manned and with little siege for over an hour. Comment your strange long lasting tower battles.

that was a pretty epic fight. i counted 4 cats when we went back to retake the tower later. musta dropped another at some point… i also wish i was’t the only person who jumped into the breach in the wall to try to stop the SF tide…turned out to be a rather short-lived endeavor. XD

i’da hung around for more, but i had to run out and take care of chores. dang RL, don’t they know i’m busy siege-ing?!?

I hear that! I am always one of the first ones to die because I push in when it makes sense for all of us to push in to overwhelm the defenders on one side of the breach or the other to establish a “base” in there. But the zerg is brainless most of the time. A few of us push while the commanders and we (us?) yell PUSH, and those few of us die. Run back, and then the zerg usually pushes.

It is like they think a death really affects that much in the game?? It is simple repair costs and I get more bags by pushing to to destroy siege AND dying for it than I do hanging back with the zerg and playing it safe.

Frustrated! One of the FC guys hit it on the money when they said T8 is broken. SF, FC, and ET all have very good players. The problem is FC and ET barely have enough players to hold SF at bay during peak hours. In the past few weeks, I have heard that some of the FC major guilds have quit WVW. The rankings look like this might be the case. My server ET also seems to be losing players slowly, due to lack of motivation. I have even thought about paying to transfer to another server. I just want a somewhat even match-up. Switch the ranking system so that it goes by server populations, or even better, WvWvW player population. I don’t care about moving up in the tiers, I just want to have a fighting chance. Unfortunately ET and FC don’t have one right now. No one can defend against a 30 to 70 man zerge with an non-upgraded keep and the Outmanned buff. We should not have to go on vacations or whatever it is FC is doing just to let SF have a few blowout weeks. With the system the way it is we will probably run into the same problem with the next server that moves down.

One of the major obstacles for SF climbing is the skewed rankings that ET and FC have (through no real fault of their own). The problem will persist after SF moves up because those ranking will stay the same unless you guys match-up better against the new server population wise. Which I think if the populations are balanced both ET and FC can fight hard and fight well. But with the ranking of your servers artificially low I am not sure how much ranking you will gain in the long run as if you soundly beat the new server their ranking will drop fast making future ranking gains for your server that much harder to achieve.

Just how I see it, I may be wrong.

I would have considered this a while back but i think pretty much everyone is planning on moving to TESO’s 3way realm vs realm once it launches. Too many aspects about WvW didnt follow what made DAOC’s RVR so good. TESO looks to be following it alot better + its combat will get away from cool down timer hotbars and will have active blocking so combat is mor engaging instead of how it is now with just attack recklessly fast with no pauses between attacks or any kind of defense use or countering

Maybe that is how you play in WvW but that doesn’t mean everyone does. Defense/dodge is vital.

Yes, each server has it “spies”, etc. Someone from SF was spotted hanging out with [KRAK] invaders. Low level toon with the [KRAK] tag also.

Nothing you can really do about it, we still use map chat as normal for map communications, just focus on using /say and /party more.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet (I am lazy and didnt want to read all the “this class is too powerful, mine is too weak” stuff).

Warrior trait “Death from Above” gives you 50% fall damage. I use it all the time to take routes most others do not.

I know it might not happen for a while, but I really will miss some of my ET/FC friends when we move up. Most of you are class acts, and with all the frustration of this match-up you guys really do keep your heads up and fight with honor. (Trust me, I am frustrated about this match-up and I am on the green team. I can only imagine the frustration on red/blue.)

Good luck with the meetings, hopefully there is a way of telling if someone from another server is guesting into your meeting.

After a bit of reading the limits work like this:

There are two basic hard limits to siege placement.

There is a limit to how many siege weapons can be placed within a certain radius of each other. 5 weapons (sites or completed weapons) can be set within any 1000 unit radius. If players try to place a new site somewhere within a radius that already has hit its limit, the placement will fail but the player will retain the weapon bundle in their hands.

There is also a hard limit to how many weapons can be placed on the map. This map limit is explained by Mike Ferguson of ArenaNet as “basically anything that is not a ram counts towards one ‘limit’ for the purpose of this explanation and each team can have up to 100 of these types of weapons out at any time per map. Each team can also have up to 100 rams placed on a map.”⁴

I never said your point was invalid, just that a month difference does not mean much to the overall picture (in my opinion).

As I said before, if that is what someone is focusing on to say my arguments are invalid then they are not truly looking to discuss the actual problem, the skewing of the T8 ratings. To me, whether we have been dominating 2 or 3 months (+/- since you say 1.5 and two others have said 2) is a very small fish in the T8 rating pond. It is a fish, but not that big in the overall scheme of things. Does that mean I am wrong and you are right? Not at all, because it is a matter of opinion on how much it actually means to the argument.

Is 3 months inaccurate, sure. I never argued that. And I kept dismissing that in my posts to elRohbi (or however you spell it) because I had my reasons. But those posts (mine and his) were not productive anyway based on his false “facts”, failure to support anything he said, and only focusing on one thing I had to say instead of actually arguing to the topic AND me just tearing down his false “fact” statements. You were not involved in those so I am not sure why you are feeling the need to attack me using those posts as examples. Edit: I did use that number in another post to someone else, sorry about that.

To those that want to actually discuss the real topic I have no problem with stating +/- 2 months as the time frame of the domination.

And as for the coming from a fellow servermate, take this for example. Where you work, if you see a report that someone on your team sends out to everyone that has a numbers mistake/error, do you email everyone and tell them they screwed up their calculations and that they should make sure they are accurate in everything they do? Or do you email that person and notify them of the mistake?

EDIT – Look, this isn’t meant as a personal attack Cantur. As someone who uses +/- quite frequently in her profession, it’s usually used as a stand in for “roughly.” As in, “I don’t have the precise number, but this is a pretty close and accurate rough figure.” And we’re nowhere near dominating for “roughly 3 months” yet. 3 months is basically doubling the time period that we’ve actually been dominating the tier and hyperinflates the figure.

I advise you to start using “+/- 1.5 months” for a more accurate description of the situation.

Technically, it’s 2.5 now. Unless you’re referring to the roflstomping, in which case 1.5 – 2 is more accurate.

As someone who uses +/- quite frequently in her profession, it’s usually used as a stand in for “roughly.” As in, “I don’t have the precise number, but this is a pretty close and accurate rough figure.” And we’re nowhere near dominating for “roughly 3 months” yet. 3 months is basically doubling the time period that we’ve actually been dominating the tier and hyperinflates the figure.

I advise you to start using “+/- 1.5 months” for a more accurate description of the situation.

And as the other one’s said, it is not double. They seem to find a consensus at 2. Still not sure why you think you need to continue your banter about this as it means nothing. If someone uses a month or so difference to deem my entire arguments invalid then what they think really doesn’t matter since they are not looking at the big picture, just at ways to create drama instead of producing actual conversation about the topic.

and as for the . 4 5 thing… the only things i can think of are the references to a caliber of firearm, OR a particular malt beverage associated with being favored by a certain demographic. other than that, i got no clue

I do not remember anyone stating HoD deserved to be stuck in T8. What I do recall is everyone agrees SF deserves to move up based on the +/- 3 months of domination.

Cantur, you keep using this “3 months of domination” figure in these threads, but it isn’t accurate. We’ve only been in T8 since January 4th, so that’s only little over 2 months total that we’ve been in T8. And we’ve only been dominating since the January 18-25 match-up (so that’s roughly 1.5 month of domination, not 3 months as you’ve been claiming).

Now, it could very well be the case that it’ll take 3 months of domination for us to claw our way out of the Glicko Ghetto. But we haven’t dominated for 3 months yet.

Hence the +/- right before the figure.
