And I’m posting on a tier 8 thread because it’s in a public WvW forum for the entire game, and I have input to give.
If you don’t want people from other tiers posting in it, you should go post it on your server’s forum (If you have one).

And yes, I do think you put yourself in this situation on purpose. You have options.
You have had an ample amount of time to find a new home if tier 8 is so unplayable for you. I’m all for server loyalty and not bandwagoning away when things get tough, but when the reality of the game is that YOUR TIER IS BROKEN, it’s okay to find a new home that satisfies your WvW needs.

Good for you, I like hearing about people who stayed on their creation world. T8 is playable for me, nobody is talking about playability (like my new word?). Oftentimes, it feels like I’m the only one going on those kamakaze runs. :-/ When I see siege that’s preventing our people from getting in, it becomes my purpose in life to take said siege out. I didn’t take a week off when getting steamrolled by servers that actually could steamroll us 24/7, which SF is completely incapable of doing. I could personally could less if SF stays or leaves in T8. I am not a whiner about SF having superior numbers kinda guy. I play for the competition and I can do that against anyone. The less than favorable odds make the fights even that much more interesting for me. That’s why a lot of players still on ET have not jumped ship long ago. The fair weather fans left long ago.

Wish I could do more than +1 this. This is a great attitude to take in WvW, and the only reason I remain in SF, as waaaay back, we were getting steamrolled 24/7, and I maintained an attitude akin to yours. I didn’t have to maintain that attitude nearly as long as you have, so I just wanted to pop in and post my respect. Keep up the good fight!

Reading through this and a few other threads one thing I have noticed the ET and FC people saying is: SF is persistent. That is the largest difference I noticed. I cannot speak for FC, but on ET just have many of you have attested to in this thread, one defeat or route and ET abandons ship…that is one of the things that made me sour on the server to begin with….With SF, they just get mad and keep pushing…I have said many times since coming here that SF runs on negative reinforcement. If everything we are trying doesnt work they dont go run a dungeon; they figure out how to get it done even if that means PVDOOR or rushing a sieged area over and over until we cap it.

I think this is a big part of it. If you are someone that runs around with me in WvW you will learn I just don’t care if I die. I will do everything I can to punish/destroy what my objective is, over and over and over and over if needed, until I achieve it. Or until something that has more strategic/point value is announced over chat.

Take the ET keep in EB last night. Most (all but 2 or 3) of my fellow SF servermates would not run into the inner keep because there were ballista and ac setup all over (our fault, we trebbed both sides open but nobody would listen to chat about which side to go to to push into so we gave them time to setup siege). I pushed in and attacked siege over and over (lost count after my fifth death and continued running from SM) until the siege was gone (Shout out to Katiebrie and the others who were doing the same). At that time the SF zerg decided they could rush in without dying and we capped it.

Persistence will almost always win out, no matter the odds (though odds make it easier to win out, of course). Yes, i pay a crap ton in repair bills but selling the stuff from all the loot bags I get covers it, no problem.

Now, if I can remain persistent in getting more people to push at the right time…

You are pulling people from LA, and getting your forces together to overrun us, so, when the Out-Manned Buff pops up, that’s the clue to pretty much call it done, because the reality is, with how painful SF can out man us, any efforts to cap or defend at that point will be futile and wasted.

We can all agree that Glicko is “the problem” here. SF has to do what it takes it crawl its way out of the Glicko Ghetto. SF need to follow the Kain/DR example and utterly destroy us to the point of spawn camping us on every BL 24/7 in order to make it to T7.

I just don’t jive with the assertion that SF is fully capable of complete and utter domination but does not want to institute these measures. I want them to come out en masse to end this match-up so that we have a new big brother to cry to mom about!

What you are saying then is that “SF lacks the DESIRE to move into T7.” You are strategically chosing through your own actions to stick around in T8. SF has proven we should move to the next Tier up just by score alone. Perma-capping your little tower in your little BL does nothing to change that. Our curbstomping you by such a large margin should move us up on it’s own, but we are dealing with Glicko.

LOL, like some/a lot of the people on this board you only speak in generalization and like you are the only person who knows everything. Telling war stories is one thing, stating our entire server lacks organization is just trolling.

We have plenty of people that defend/upgrade/etc. in our BL and EB, which is where they want to play. Why do we need to defend structures on your BL if we do not want to? I just do not find it as fun as the other stuff I do.

And really, while we outnumber ET and FC our WvW population does not come close to matching most of the upper Tier servers. So camping all day/all week is just not in our blood right now, except our BL and EB. And if you looked at things with an open mind you would realize that our core WvW players work during US morning/day, hence why ET can cap everything early in the morning/late at nights/whatever.

Talking about the “old days” when the server you were on kicked kitten is just plain sad. And like I said before, it is trolling. This is a T8 frustration thread, not a “look at how cool I was back when…” thread. And if the other server(s) you were on were so awesome, why did you leave? Go back if that is all you can talk about.

Sure we have those that are disorganized. But every server does. And we were outmanned several times yesterday and still defended/took the structures we wanted to on the other BLs.

Back in my old days Cliffside was notorious for being the only thing Kaineng could reliably take thanks to glitchy catapults. And holding it for more than 5 minutes was a brutal feat of death and despair! And we enjoyed it!

You’re just sad on FC because SF can’t actually dedicate to anything. They just zerg and leave when they see another map starting to get taken because they don’t want to fight upgraded doors and walls, and they don’t have the numbers to cover all the maps to spawn(even though they claim they do). Now, they do have enough to cover EB and a Borderland… but not much more. In the old days, Ferg squashed Kaineng and Devona on every map!(Really old days, when FC and BP swapped spots in T8 every other week early on).

Since the Commander tag is the only external way of showing a rank in WvW, I think the problem starts there. (I am not even getting into ability of Commanders right now).

I would like to see a few different ranks. I mean, anyone without is basically a Private. I would like to see, at the very least, Corporal and Sergeant and have those, maybe, be given by the Commander (Commander hands out the Sergeant tags, Sergeants hand out the Corporal). Something like max 2 sergeants and 8 Corporals.

This will help with flow and organization of battles, etc. Each rank should have their own communication channels for their “squad”. The rank should also be shown when they type in the chat box, at least while they have it active, maybe a special color or something.

Just thinking out loud here. Have not put a ton of thought into it yet.

Hey, to those [KRAK] guys who kept capping our camps in our BL yesterday evening, props for the determination and fighting! No matter how many times we would come in and take things back or defend our camps you just kept swinging away and making things hard on us! I loved it.

And the little Asuran who pointed at me and I ran up to the top of that thatch roof (Blueale), sorry my other servermates joined in, I was hoping for a 1v1 match which you seemed to be winning until the others came up too. Forgot to get your server name or Guild tag.

I had a lot of fun with suicide runs killing those 4 trebs in Bluevale (sorry, I jump around so much it may not even have been our BL, so maybe not Bluevale) and breaking that little zerg at Bluebriar from behind on the bridge.

I didn’t get to play much Fri or Sat but I was on over 12 hours straight Sunday! I had a lot of fun, here is to more in the week ahead!

How did you get that from what you quoted? No one said that, or even close to it.

If you truly believe they can’t cover all the maps, please go try to take SF’s borderlands without seeing a zerg form up to defend it while you lose your own borderlands.

We communicate well and when we see our BL losing a tower or two (plus camps) we get a few folks from the other maps to roll around the BL once or twice to clear things up. It is not like we have those numbers just sitting in our BL. We have a core group of players who pretty much dedicate themselves to our BL and give us warning when needed.

If something like this would be considered (even though I think it is generally a bad idea), probably better to promote/demote based on score difference. If the top server in a tier is out scoring the medium by say 40%, move them up. Same for a server on the bottom. Simple and would allow servers getting routed to have a nice week of fighting and servers routing to be humbled.

That is interesting, never thought about score difference. That would make the lopsided matchups have the movement instead of close ones where the one server happens to win/lose 3-4 weeks in a row.

During US East primetime, FC has across all four maps about half what SF has in EB. ET has about 2/3 to 3/4 from what I’ve seen during those time periods, but it seems both servers’ heads hit the pillow when 9PM US West rolls around while our west coast crew is still alive and kicking for another 3-5 hours.

Agreed, so revised, I’d like to see the outmanned buff as follows:
-Increased NPC’s per objective based on a ratio of server WvW current map population.
-Decreased NPC respawn time based on a ratio of server WvW current map population.
-Increased defense to walls/gates based on a ratio of server WvW current map population.

I wouldn’t want to see a HP change to the actual invaders/defenders to be honest, because a 1v1 shouldn’t ever change just because somebody is outmanned. IMO if you are outmanned, you should be defending what you already own, which would be supported by the above changes.
Additionally, what would you guys think about perhaps adding a perma arrow cart (or some sort of siege option) to towers/keeps if the server is severely outmanned?

Good point, I wasn’t thinking 1v1 when I made the HP suggestion. Maybe add the increased defense to the defending NPCs instead of blanket HP.

Not sure about perma-siege, it should always be able to be destroyed at some point, IMHO. But giving more HP/defense to the siege while outmanned might help. And/or greater range?

Makes no sense to me. How does it restrict between the two invader servers? And if this was implemented then it would be easy to make sure nobody logs onto home BL and only go to other BL and EB. Many flaws if that is what you want.

If they want it to balance they need to make it based on how outnumbered you are and adjust the buffs/bonuses you would get.

I think it is going to be very hard to do unless they give some kind of incentive to transfer to low pop servers. Really, they can not force anyone to move to other servers they do not want to move to. If they so they will be opening themselves to a huge backlash of folks who already think Anet is too heavy-handed.

Maybe they can entice guilds by allowing them to transfer their Guilds to another server and keep their upgrades/etc/ intact.

Bolded is the biggest thing, people always throw the “well if you want to WvW go transfer into a higher tier”. It would be extremely hard to transfer our entire guild if we wanted to, beyond that it would kill everything we worked for, and with Guild Missions now, that is even more incentive to stay in once place as it takes 9-12 weeks to unlock based off of merit limitations (longer if starved for influence).

That being said, at this point we wouldn’t transfer anyway, we started out on Sorrow’s Furnace at launch and we intend to stay here. Sure would be nice if Anet provided incentive like that though so we could maybe snag some Oceanic WvW guilds for a night crew.

Agreed. For now I can think of one possible solution to guild transfers but don’t want to post it here, too many other eyes might like the idea. ;D

I think it is going to be very hard to do unless they give some kind of incentive to transfer to low pop servers. Really, they can not force anyone to move to other servers they do not want to move to. If they so they will be opening themselves to a huge backlash of folks who already think Anet is too heavy-handed.

Maybe they can entice guilds by allowing them to transfer their Guilds to another server and keep their upgrades/etc/ intact.

I wish most people would just waypoint, repair, and run back. I don’t like the clutter in a fight of a bunch of dead people not doing anything, and it is visually a hassle often to run up to an ally on the ground and start res’ing to find out they’re full dead, I think it fools me a lot because full deads can die in a posture that looks like they’re waving their hand.

Unless everyone packed some instant repair canisters I’d rather have allies get out of the way and repair. More often then not the next stop for our group likely as close if not closer to the nearest waypoint and they can meet you there. I will go to stupid extremes to try and rally downed allies though.

Depends on how close the WP is to the fight. I make it a point to res ppl as soon as I can (even if the fight is going on still) if the WP is far. I believe the advantage is worth it to res them and avoid the time it would take to run back to the fight.

Completely agree if WP is close.

We have fought some of the best servers around, and we take pride in the fact that when it comes to getting stomped. we are up there with the best of them. In fact, ask the last server that faced off against us, they moved to 2nd place because everyone between us and T2 was skared of them. That’s right, we faced off against some of the best servers ever, and lost brutally each time. but still we came back for more.

So if dirt naps, being overrun, and trampled to death under the boot heel of some oversized server that will one day make other servers quake in their path, knowing full well you were willing face anything, rushing to your death with wild abandon and fearlessness, then Ferg is the server for you. Wimps and Whiners need not apply.

variety isnt what we need, whether we crave it or not. balanced matches are. i think preventing gaps in rating is a more long term solution.

I completely agree. This would be a band-aid for sure. But something like this could be worth looking into until they can actually fix the population balance issues, etc. so that stale match-ups do not exist (hopefully).

This is so messed up. If your server is winning, there should be ZERO chance that you would stand to losses rating. This “not winning by enough” thing is getting out of hand.

SF is about 100k rating away from HoD. HoD stands to loss 9k rating this week while SF losses around 4k. So overall SF gained 5k rating on them. Assuming this trend continues, it will take 20 weeks for SF to overtake HoD. That’s like HALF A YEAR! >_>
