Pve:
- Classes are finally balanced and skills arent broken.
-All DE’s have increased in frequency and added new DE’s.
-Instanced mission board added that requires 2-10 players depending on difficulty of mission
-Fixed all broken DE’s and hearts.
PvP:
-New pvp mode added that is in between spvp and WvW. 60 players max. Attack and defend.
Miscellaneous:
-PvP and PvE stats and skills have finally been separated for improved class balance and fun.
WvW:
-Has been redesigned to actually have a point.
Activities:
-Added more activities other than Keg Brawl.
I like the idea.
Im pretty hardcore player and like a challenge.
But when im playing with my gf and another irl friend (not very good players), I want to be able to also have fun in dungeons with them. Rewards can be a different set of armor.
Get rid of the constant diminishing returns throughout the game!

Anet should NEVER punish players for playing how they want period.
Its even worst that there is no way in hell that players can gather enough materials to craft items that are at your own level without actually having to go farming for them OR buy them at the trading post. Anyone knows that buying all materials at the trading post is cost prohibitive.
So now you can’t farm nor can you buy all materials for crafting. It seems like you can’t do anything anymore. Anet seems to want to control everything from how you can play, to what you can say in the chat system, to how many times you can talk on the chat system.
My advice Anet, and please read it carefully, players don’t like it when it feels like you are in prison. You have a great game that you can build upon to make it the best. Don’t mess up the 5 years of work you have put into this game. Word of mouth is a powerful thing.

That said, IF Anet can get their kittens together. Then this game definitely has the POTENTIAL to be the best MMO on the market.
In your opinion of course. I personally never considered WoW the best. I personally feel Everquest was the best, but that in no way means it was the best for everyone.

I think GW2 has awesome potential, but right now, i do not think its the best. Let us wait and see how it grows and matures.
This is a big gripe for me also. I wish the game encouraged players to actually socialize more. Right now, might as well think of other players as npc’s.
The biggest culprit for this, imo, is the fact that grouping has lost its purpose. Even when i am playing with my gf (which is sitting right next to me), the only real purpose of me being in her party is to see where she is in the map.
A solution to this: Bring back instanced missions from GW1. Harder content can be 10 man, while more easier content can be 2-5 player parties. Come on Anet….this game practically begs for this.

My main beef with the game so far, besides all the broken DE’s and hearts, is that the higher the level zone you go….the less there are DE’s.
It also seems like Anet has made DE’s less common than during beta. It annoys the hell out of me. It makes the pve content boring as you are just going from heart to heart and sometimes stumble upon a DE.
I was one of the players wanting Anet to release the game already…..oh boy was i wrong. From all the broken and obviously incomplete classes, to the broken zones with hardly any content….i wish Anet would have released this game in 2013. But please dont get me wrong. What this game needs is POLISH….im not saying its not fun….at least for now.
I completely disagree with the title. With my build I have no problem pulling groups of mobs with a veteran that have over 3-4 levels more than me. I use grenade and bomb kit with full explosions and inventions trait lines. I make a LOT of damage and can also heal myself and the others that are close using the bomb kit.

True, but still I find grenades more suitable for survivability than flamethrower because you have a very long range and do not need to stay close. Sure it is harder to play with them because of the aoe targetting but when he learns to do it he can kite easily and produce a massive damage. And that is the goal of this thread isn’t it?
Yup, when i went with the grenade spec i linked at the beginning…i was looking for a high dmg build where dmg is your survivability. Unfortunately, it is not so for lower level engineers. My dmg output was just completely sad with a low level grenade spec.
With my human engi i have a 10% chance of it actually going off. 5% chance of it disappearing instead of exploding. 5% chance of it being out of range when I AM in range. 5% chance of it nothing happening. 35% chance of not being able to use it while its CD is up because it useless at close range. 40% chance of it being obstructed.
Bottom line: This skill is broken as hell. Make it hit for a bit less dmg and let it explode on contact.
To updade my topic:

Overall, im am much more effective than my old leveling spec. I might go grenadier once i get to 80….as i find low level grenade specs lacking too much….not to mention how horrible it is to usually aim with the grenades.
I still have come to the conclusion that this class needs work. Flamethrower misses a lot….and even more infuriating to me is the number 2 skill always missing, blocked, or just plain dissapearing into the ground without exploding.
Right now im doing quests in the 30-40 area (forget what its called) and while this spec is definitely better than what i was using….it still leaves a lot to be desired. Why? cuz my main is a Warrior. I just cant help but compare the two of them. The warrior is just so much better atm. I rolled through this place with my Warrior….with my Engi? Not so much. Every mob is a serious battle where i have to use all my skills to survive.
Maybe the Engi gets better as they level. Im definitely looking forward to a lot of the trait skills. Though i have a pretty big suspicion that Anet is not done balancing the classes. Hence why they have decided to open up the suggestion forums, classes, etc.
This is the very reason i have been “prolonging” my Warrior to max level. Leveling in this game is actually quite fast. Everything gives you XP. Once i reached 60, I did 5 levels just by doing some crafting and some farming.
I also currently have a level 22 Ele, Lvl 36 Engi, Level 2 Guardian (obviously havent played it past the tutorial mission), and lvl 22 Necro. Im mainly just trying to level my Engi now.
Its completely understandable that you would be bored though. At 80, theres nothing to do other than gear grind, complete world, and WvW if you enjoy it. Spvp, you can do from level 1 so it doesnt count.
That said, i think Anet should get to fixing and adding/tweaking functionality to core game features first before adding new content. I would love for a mission board though. Kind of off topic, but i really miss the days where you being grouped with your friends actually mattered.

I generally agree with all your points. WvW is not as fun as it sounds on paper.
The main thing i wish there was in WvW is no repair costs. This by itself, makes players not want to take many chances and just stay in the winning zerg. After the winning zerg gets defeated….it usually follows a mass exodus of players out of WvW. In general, there should NOT be any monetary investment in WvW. All those siege stuff should be stuff you can collect in the world. A self contained world. Maybe have a new currency in place. When you kill enemies, take objectives, defend objectives….you get currency you can spend towards buying siege stuff.
Also, i would like to point out that there really isnt any reason to stay and defend keeps. Just go ahead and attack attack attack, then get bored and leave. Defending keeps should be as important, or even more important than attacking keeps. I feel like Anet really dropped the ball with the design for WvW. Will it turn into another Swtor Ilum or Aion’s Abyss? If Anet does nothing….it very much will.
Mainly my main critics of WvW are:
-Pointless (no actual winner, except for what you see in the numbers)
-Money pit
-Tug of War boring zerg fest (fun for a while, once shiny is not so shiny anymore….boring)
-Map is waaay too big for the amount of players able to get in. (Make it smaller, make it faster paced, make it more interesting)
Or better yet. Please oh please let us have a pvp game mode similar to WvW for only like 60 players. One team defends, the other tries to take. Basically give us the Alterac Valley of WoW…but GW2 style.
I wont go into specific problems as to what skills are not working or what skills are bugged. There are plenty of threads about those problems.
I will however just go ahead and say that this class is in serious need of some love.
Im a bit of an altholic. I have not bought an extra character slot, but I do have all original character slots filled.
My main toon is a warrior (lvl 65). My alts are a Elementalist (lvl ~22), Guardian (lvl 2 but I got it to level ~25 in beta), Necromancer (lvl 22), and Engineer (lvl 34).
Out of all those, i enjoy all of them except for the Necromancer….they just dont really seem very Necromancery….though i suspect they also need some love.
My main problem with the Engineer is that they either dont do enough dmg….or they die too quickly. My current build is using rifle, grenades, and bombs. I have put traits into Explosives, Firearms, Inventions, and Tools. I wanted to go for a balanced spec….which doesnt seem to be working at all. My Ele and Warrior are also running a balanced spec and isnt having survivalbility problems. My Warrior specially owns everything. My Ele puts out enough dmg to survive group encounters (sometimes i die, but usually i am in control over it through the skills given to me, and or strategy). My engi?? Its just sad. Groups of enemies?? 50/50 survival chance. If there are at least two ranged enemies….i might as well run away. One ranged boss (like a skill point challenge)? probably will need help from another class to beat it.
The only place where the my engi shines is if….enemies are not attacking me, but then, what class doesnt? Oh and i almost forgot about the extremely overpowered grenades in underwater combat….which i love but understandably will be put in line in future updates. So what does the engi do that another class cannot do better? nothing. OK, i lie, probably aoe dmg….until all of a sudden, all enemies decide they love me too much and own your butt in a couple of hits. Please keep in mind that my gear also reflects the kind of spec i want. Some of my rings, some of my accessories, and my boots have toughness and vitality on them, the rest being power/precision.
I have done a lot of research into different specs players are running. Mines do not seem too weird.
So either im playing this class terribly wrong….or this class is terribly broken. I would love some feedback as to how others are playing this class and their respective specs. I am not planning anytime soon to play a support spec. How do you think this class compares to other classes? My warrior for example does everything better than my engi, except for support heals and aoe.
