Launcher forgets login details

CedarDog.9723

So, with the last few builds, I’ve run into the problem where the launcher forgets my account name and password and the “Remember Account Name,” “Remember Password” and “AutoPlay” boxes become unchecked and I have to put them in again. Previously, the launcher would remember these settings and login info and relogging was easy after a new build. Now, less so.

Molten Boss/Molten Effigy.

As per: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-January-26-2016/first#post5946360

Fixed an issue that allowed players to skip the Molten Effigy boss in the Molten Boss fractal.

I have no issue with this change, however… If this boss cannot be skipped, how about removing “Bonus Event” announcement that comes up. Bonus Event makes it sound optional. Or changing it to “Mandatory Event” if it has to say anything.

It would be really nice if we could disable seeing and hearing the rank-up/level-up animation and sounds for levelling characters or ranking-up skills/learning recipes, etc. It’s kind of annoying when people are insta-80-ing their characters near the bank or learning a ton of recipes near the crafting stations, etc. On its own, it wouldn’t be annoying, but it happens often enough and with people usually sitting there for minutes ranking up something, it starts to get obnoxious.

Perhaps a checkbox in options that would allow us to do so would be an easy way to fix the issue.

LFG Bug Fractals

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

CedarDog.9723

If you have anyone under level 80 in your party, LFG will not allow you to advertise in the proper Fractal category. It forces you to advertise in Open World Content… (i.e. the necro is level 6)

It would be even better if learning a recipe was account-wide. My main has learned several high-end cooking recipes that he cannot use but I have an alt with max cooking. That’s how I learned that they are not account-wide!

Yeah, that would be awesome.

LFG - Please fix it

CedarDog.9723

It’d also be nice if we could post an LFG ad in the proper Fractal subcategory…EVEN if the party has someone under-levelled. As it stands right now, anyone under level 80 will cause the LFG tool to force us to put the ad in Open World content. Which kinda doesn’t make sense, since Fractal some levels are open to characters under level 80.

Also, I agree that Open World content should get subcategories that at least cover the most popular maps/events/etc.

It’d be kinda nice if the flavor text of recipes it would let us know if a character already knows it. I don’t always want to log out to character select and then log in to the character that has that particular crafting skill to check to see if I already know a particular recipe, and I don’t always remember if I’ve already learned a particular recipe.

If you’re on the character that has learned the recipe, the recipe already tells us: “You already know this recipe!” or something like that.

Why not add, “Your character, <Charactername> already knows this recipe!” for when we’re not on the character that already knows it?

I wasn’t forcing anyone to play my way. I was still just sitting on the ground next to the pole fighting him because he was targeting somebody who was on the pole. But they still insisted that I jump up there. It is just dumb that the meta has turned into a mindless zerg that can’t fight a boss the normal way. I agree that some boss fights can be tedious. And I do post “Scale 67 – Mossman (Fight normaly)” in my advert. So pugs have no excuse.

If you created the party and advertised as such, then yeah, the people who joined and wanted to stack shouldn’t have joined in the first place.

Granted, climbing up on a pole for a fight is kinda cheesy…however if you’re in a party or squad, then you’re entering into cooperative teamplay. If the majority of the party or squad wants to do stuff one way and you do not, then you’re essentially forcing everyone else to do things your way. I’ve been in parties and squads that do things using stacks and ones that are "YOLO"ing things. I adapt to what the party or squad wants. Instead of whining about it, why don’t you either ask the squad which way they plan on doing the fractal/mission/event/etc. (and leave if they plan on doing things in a way you don’t like) or just go solo it since you obviously don’t want to be in the team? If there were enough votes to kick you, obviously you’re the odd one out.

Prime example of ignoring the problem and sweeping it under the rug.

Because, fixing game is so 2015. Workarounds are all the rage now!

Yeah, because forcing people to play the way you want is fixing a problem.

Providing before/after screenshots won’t help you replicate the issue. It’s basically either ANet’s servers eff up or they don’t. It’s random and for the majority of the time they do what they’re supposed to do and increase the level properly. But they have messed up on the counter probably 6 or so times thus far.

Personal Fractal Levels

CedarDog.9723

Okay, this is starting to kind of bug me… Why is it that my Personal Fractal Level keeps lagging behind? As in it hasn’t incremented upwards as much as it should have.

From what I recall about the Personal Fractal Level counter:
1) Each successful completion of a fractal that is at your maximum Personal Fractal Level will increment the counter by one, thus allowing you to continue doing them sequentially towards the maximum level of 100.

2) Each successful completion of a fractal that is above your maximum Personal Fractal Level when triggered by another member of the squad will increment the counter by one.

I have completed 1-51 thus far which should mean I can do 52. Yet my Personal Fractal Level, for whatever reason is at 51. Which means I have to run 51 a SECOND time to get the ability to choose 52. This has occurred a number of times in the past while working on the Casual and Core Fractal Hero achievements. It’s kind of a big annoyance when I just want to pop in and work on the next level and I have to devote extra time to it because my counter is lagging behind.

I don’t think that applies to my situation, since the studio quality bitrates are within design spec for the on-board audio device. (10 channel, 24 bit, 192k Hz) Additionally, I’m currently using a USB headset which doesn’t allow for max bitrates anyhow. (8 channel, 16 bit, 48k Hz)

Glad you found a solution to your problem though.

dun u get annoyed when you get thrown into a game that has ended?

Patience. If you end up in a game that’s almost ended simply wait a minute and you are guaranteed to end up in a brand new instance. One extra session of the one minute free-style over the course of however many sessions you want to go through isn’t that big a deal in the long run.

They should do that to the jumping puzzle too. When you go in the present at the end, instead of respawning on the starting platform, they can make the players have a chance of just getting dumped into a map that has like 2 minutes left on the reset. And then waste people’s time by making them watch a minute long cutscene that can’t be escaped out of.

Wow FINALLY I see somebody post on this. I have been fighting with my computer to try and understand what is going on. This is only affecting GW2 for me. Same thing. Sound loss followed by major lag…then sometimes the blue screen of death resulting from it. It all started immediately after the Wintersday patch.

That sucks about the BSoDs. Yeah, I was waiting to see if anyone else would post, but since no-one did, I decided after two incidents occurred today that I’d finally post something about this. At least I’m not the only one getting this. Just curious, what sort of hardware did you have?

I’m running Windows 10 64-bit on an MSI X99S Gaming 7 with 32GB RAM, 2xnVidia GTX 970 with SLI bridge installed, core i7 5930…hmmm, what else? Anyhow, wonder if we have a similar sound device.

Sound driver problem since second Wintersday build release. Not sure if it’s a problem with my sound driver that coincidentally cropped up, but recently I’ll get a random lag spike in-game and the sound driver on my computer will become unresponsive. It will play a split second of sound followed by silence and another split second of sound over and over. This issue affects all programs generating audio. The problem goes away if I close Guild Wars and output from other programs generating audio will resume as normal.

So, I get that you’re supposed to hit the corresponding 1-4, 6-9 key when the little puck enters the center circle, but do it before it disappears. However, similar performances yield vastly different outcomes. One time it’ll give me a good score, another time it’ll damage me every note. Heck, sometimes I can hit the notes WAAAAAY before it enters the center or after the circle has disappeared and it doesn’t damage me and gives me credit. If this mini-game is going to be so dependent on ping times, etc. you (ANet) should figure out a way to make it more robust. Perhaps make the scoring client-side.

Oh yeah, and quit resetting my options settings. It’s annoying. Kinda like how you broke Troll’s Revenge during the Halloween event.

A new and kind of really annoying behavior in the Guild Wars 2 64-bit client has started cropping up ever since the last build was released and installed on my machine. Occasionally the game will lag a little bit and then the whole game window will turn black. I can see and move the in-game mouse cursor. The in-game music still plays also. Other applications continue to display normally, so I doubt it’s a video driver crash. People have told me that in-game I appear to log-off at this point.

Why do I have to wait 72 hours?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: CedarDog.9723

CedarDog.9723

I’m fairly sure that the 72 hour wait is due to the fact that in the United States we have what’s called a “3-day Right of Rescission” which allows a consumer to rescind or cancel a variety of types of agreements or transactions. Basically a buyer’s remorse protection built into the law. Typically you see this when you make large purchases, such as a house or buying a car, etc. But it probably applies to the purchase of a game too in which you’re kinda entering into a long-term contract with Arena by purchasing their game.

Yeah, my guildies and I weren’t able to determine any particular pattern to why some of us didn’t receive rewards and others didn’t. One thing I forgot to check to see if 64-bit beta client vs. 32-bit client played a part. I know at least a couple of us who didn’t receive rewards were using the 64-bit client, but I didn’t ask if the people who got their rewards straight off the bat were using 64 or 32. Also, the three others got their rewards on the second run, so maybe it’s not related.

CedarDog.9723

So, earlier I ran the “Hard Weekly Opportunities” guild puzzle mission twice with some guildies. The first time, out of the people present, 4 of us did not receive our end rewards/commendations/etc. at the successful end of the event. We sent in bug reports.

Afterwards, those 4 people, including myself re-ran the mission and 3 of them received their rewards the second run. I still didn’t receive anything after the second time. I figured I’d send in a trouble ticket with customer support, since, well, I figured that Arena would actually keep track of what’s going on with such events. I mean, I assume that the mobs aren’t being spawned client-side and that Arena’s servers tell our client-side installs what mobs are being spawned, what loot is dropped, etc. So Arena SHOULD have some records of what’s going on. I mean, it would also be good for checking to see if someone’s exploiting or trying to hack in loot drops, etc., right? Guess not.

My interaction with customer support as follows:
Nov 7, 16:33

Ran guild puzzle in the Proxemics Lab with my guild today and a number of us did not receive the end mission reward/loot. Sent in a bug report and figured I’d send in a support ticket to get the commendation/loot that I was not rewarded. http://imgur.com/wrfGm7I (screengrab at the end of the guild puzzle)

So basically, since the end of mission rewards are unreliable, I either do the missions to support my guild and stand a good chance of being effed out of rewards after putting in my in-game time or I look like a selfish prick and don’t help out my guild. Great.
