Ok. You’ve said what you’d like removed. And you’ve said put in a better selection.
But what? You should give examples otherwise I’m fine with a chance for a rare dye, a node worth 2-3 hundred gold or a mini pet.
Crafting mats. More gold to me
Ore/wood nodes. WAY more gold to me (and so rare a drop that it’s hardly worth complaining about)
Dye packs. Glad to get them. A free chance for an expensive dye to recoup costs.
Minis. Usually sell for a gold or two. I don’t mind getting a gold or two.
Finishers. Isn’t their only source now black lion chest? Remove them and no cheap finishers in the trading post. You’ll need to buy gems.
All the things you don’t like put gold in my pocket, and I do like that. You didn’t give an alternative to these items to make me agree that they should be removed.
Funny thing is, they didn’t even do that right. Looks hilarious with “emissary of the mad king” on a toon with 5 letter name.
That picture has so much blanked out, I can’t tell what’s so funny about it. And where is the Emissary of the Mad King on that picture?
Well I blacked out the random persons name because well, yeah. The icon is attached to the title not the name, even though it is beside the name.
So what you get is, most players it looks attached to the end of the name. But someone with a short name + long title, it has a wide gap between name and icon because, whelp actually attached to end of title.
Ah. Ok. I’ve only seen one so far and it wasn’t a short name.
I wonder though if the Map Completion Star has the same amount of separation.

The OP has deep, insightful reasons for why it’s the dumbest thing they’ve done in a long time.
He just forgot to post them.

What Wanze said.
That extra tax for extra gold in one day would hit non flippers like me who prefer to keep all my mats until I have a lot, post all of them that I want to sell at once and the next day I’ll have maybe 100 gold in the trading post. By your scheme I would have to pay extra for that selling of my mats in bulk.
The visual change for the sake of so-called “reducing the visual noise” probably generated the most united and biggest backlash since the NPE
Where’s the big, multi page thread on it? I missed it.
Nvm found. 8 pages.
are you serious? Oo

Yah. Overlooked it because it’s not important to me. /shrug. And people are always complaining about something.
So in your game, if I want a particular skin I have no choice but to kill mobs over and over and over and over and over and over and over….. while praying to RNGesus to bless me this day?
Sound a trifle grindy.
But I just simply don’t get this one..its aesthetics are just not there. It’s all over the place.
I think “all over the place” IS the aesthetic they’re going for.
Basically, it’s supposed to be made with bits and parts from things you’ve killed.
See that part right there? ::points:: That’s made from your sense of fashion. It dies the moment you pay gems for this… mess.
That makes sense and explains why it doesn’t have the coherent style of the other outfits.
It’s still ugly though and I don’t put my money down for ugly.
I looked at it, but didn’t like it enough to buy. Not only does it have huge shoulders (and I’m so tired of outsized shoulders), but imo it’s nothing special to look at. It’s sort of, just, there.
I like the sword and the pistol. Other than that, they’re not in a style I like.
There is a response from ArenaNet.
Bandit Sniper bundle was released on November 24 and since then price for Shadow Abyss Dye dropped from 194 gold to 140 gold. Also, price for Shadow Blue Dye dropped almost instantly to 50% from 20 gold to 10 gold.
These are facts. This is ArenaNet’s response of bundle success.
Which doesn’t say how much more money they could have made, if the items had been released separately.
One telling thing I’ve noticed. With stand alone outfits, when they are new I will see a lot of people wearing them. I haven’t seen anyone wearing the bandit outfit. I haven’t seen that glider being used, certainly not large numbers of people flashing their shiny new skin.
It’s also interesting how the gems to gold dropped when it came out as opposed to when the keys were put on sake, where the gem price spiked several gold. The graph shows that only a relative few bought any gems with gold to get that bundle.

It’s reported in wiki as an “anomaly.” Another way to say that it’s probably a mistake. Most likely it’s been reported but you can always make a thread in the Bug Forum, just to be sure.
Seriously dude, it’s really obnoxious how you refuse to quote people by their names. I’m sure this has come up before, but I want to reiterate how difficult it is to keep track of conversation threads.
I personally find it more than obnoxious. I find it rude. It tells me that he doesn’t care enough about others to take the time to properly quote people. And then has the gall to post quotes of MULTIPLE PEOPLE in the same post.
It’s why I’ve told him in other threads that if he doesn’t quote me, properly, he will not get a response from me. As I don’t have conversations with rude people. Ohoni, this still holds for this thread. Don’t ask me a question if you aren’t going to quote me properly.
As to the topic of the thread. That article was for real life economies, not MMO economies. You can’t take the results of the study that article referenced and apply it to this game. Or any MMO. Because there are variables that would affect how satisfied and dissatisfied a person is that that study would not have covered: the fact that GW2 and other MMO’s are games. I’m not saying that the same results would happen if the same study was done in GW2 or any MMO, with appropriate questions to determine if it being a game affected anything, just that you can’t copy and paste results from one subset of people onto another subset of people.
Which means you can’t use the article to claim that ANet needs to do something about the reward structure.
It has been brought up before.
And the reason was……………….
Because they are responding to the points…not the people.
Seems to be hard to fathom that someone would actually debate the discussion points and not the people replying in the topic. Idk…….lol
Personally, reading the thread I find it makes his posts obscure and difficult to follow. If it’s actually a good idea, maybe everyone on this thread should start doing it for all see if it’s a useful way to quote.
First I find out that every alt I want Auric Basin map completion with has to do the storyline far enough in to get the “egg bearer” title to reach a PoI and Vista that are locked behind said “title”, now I can’t get the HP because people were exploiting it and it hasn’t been “fixed” yet. Joy.
Looks at my 9 level 80s….. looks at the story line requirement to get map completion….. looks at my 9 level 80s….
Not a shining moment in good game design.
If it doesn’t show up in a reasonable amount of time, contact support and see about them sending you your gems.
Does it have to be done there? Wiki says Charge an Oiled Ancient Staff Head at any Place of Power in Magus Falls. Also, place of power is a Hero point place, not a Mastery Point site.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Machined_Staff_
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Place_of_power
Also restrictions from placing a feast on top of another feast that someone put down to help with an event.
There is like a trading post website.
use this site if you miss spreadsheets in space.
If I remember correctly, spidy is no longer being updated and the maker of it no longer plays the game. The site I think is better is gw2tp.com
The problem with LS1 is that most of it was large area open world content, such as the map invasions, the Marionette and the fall of Lions Arch. There was very little instanced stories such as they have now. It would be extremely difficult to make the large map sized content for a map full of people scale down to single player instanced content.
My guess is that the best they will be able to do is put in an NPC that you can interact with and he tells you the history and shows video clips for you to see.
So getting the account bound mats like spirit shards, laurels, karma, bloodstone dust, empyrial fragments, dragonite ore for the old stat combos as well as airship oil, auric dust, obsi shards and ley line sparks for the new ones is considered by you no problem at all, while listing your loot for twice or triple the value you usually do is considered impossible.
Right.
I think you simply lost perspective on some things.
That you seem to believe you’ve made a point here just shows that you really don’t understand how the game’s economy works for the average player.
If I had to pick as to who has the better understanding of the ingame economy, it definately be Wanze over you Ohoni.
I’m sure many forum regulars will agree on this point no matter if they are sympathetic to Wanze or not. In order to effectively “play the trading post” one must understand the market. Your theories are nice and dandy, but so far all you’ve been advocating for is “free stuff”. That doesn’t show a lot of understanding.
Haven’t been following this thread, as it was just too depressing to even think about, but just thought I should say that I don’t agree with you, at all.
Both of them probably understand how markets work, it’s just that Ohoni also understands how this affects the players who either don’t understand, or choose not to participate.
The problem is that IRL, even in this unfair world, most people are not forced to gamble on the stock market.
Or to be a business entrepreneur.
Most people can, or should, be able to make a decent living in other ways.
Ways that, hopefully, inspire and challenge them; or, at least, don’t bore and depress them.
So, if you make the only option to make decent money, in a game, something most people either don’t find easy, or don’t enjoy doing, you are inevitably limiting the appeal of that game to a relatively small number of people.
Accusing anyone, who dares to point this out, of being ignorant and/or suffering from sour grapes, is doing them, Anet and most of the other players of the game a disservice.
You mean Ohoni pretends to realize and care about how the regular player is affected in order to further his own personal agenda.
You have zero indication that he has any reason other than his own benefit for pushing these ideas and claims that he makes. So, if you make the only option to make decent money, in a game, something most people either don’t find easy, or don’t enjoy doing, you are inevitably limiting the appeal of that game to a relatively small number of people.
Except the game has other ways to make decent money fast – Gems to Gold. It is probably intended that the alternatives are not so pleasant in order to incentivize people to buy Gems and convert to gold.
Let’s not forget how Dungeon rewards were nerfed and then no other rewards were buffed.
PvE was buffed with a gold faucet, the shiny baubles worth 30 silver each. Do events in the right maps and get an extra 30 silver.
It might not sound like a lot but spread across all the players doing events in those maps and it probably replaces the gold coming into the economy from dungeon runners. The big difference is that it’s a steady drip to players of open world content rather than the bigger chunk to the dungeon runners.

invisible obviously.. they are “traps”
/shrug. In PvE the mobs hostile effects have a red outline. I didn’t know if they were the same in a type of game that I don’t play, which is why I said ahead of time that it’s a dumb question.
I don’t do any PvP so I’m going to ask a dumb question. Do enemy traps in PvP have a red outline or are they invisible?
Not only do gold sellers disrupt the game’s economy with bots, credit card fraud and stolen accounts but they use forced labor when they can to get gold. Cozy relations with some countries allow them to use prisoners to farm gold, and the prisoners are beaten if they don’t meet daily gold quotas.
ANet can see gold going between accounts. So if a gold seller is sending gold to different accounts, it will be caught. ANet can then see that you got the gold from this gold seller and go into your account and either remove that gold or remove the item(s) purchased with it.
At the very least they will go in to the account and remove the gold that you got from that site. The first offense is usually just a removal of gold and a warning.
what if i have already spend it and for example crafted my dusk?
Good question. They might remove the Dusk then.

The gem->gold price has risen by 20% or so in the last week, wonder why.
It has?
Looks like a downward slope for the 2 weeks to me with the usual ups and downs during each day.
I cant even put an exquisite burl jewel into any trinkets.
Please fix it, thanks
The wiki says required level 80 and the amulet you have pictured is level 78. Maybe you need to try a level 80 trinket.
