Instead of a name and report system put in have gemstore items, crafted items such as feasts and other purchased items have a different interaction key from NPCs, chests, vistas. Separate the interact keys of player created items from game items.

Gold sellers: New tactics?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chad.6104

All MMOs have gold sellers and we already know why people use gold sellers in all the MMOs out there. They’re impatient. They want their gold NOW and they’re willing to pay for it. You can’t stop that. You can’t change human nature. All you can do is offer a way for people to get gold that doesn’t hurt the economy, the players or the company.

Gold selling companies will always be criminal companies because they need lots of gold, fast. Faster than they can farm gold since each purchase can be hundreds or thousands of gold. That means they need to hack or steal accounts to get all that gold or have large numbers of bots.

Gold sellers: New tactics?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chad.6104

Chad.6104

You know everyone says that I’d like to see the proof of this.

Gold sellers hurt the games by several ways. They hack player accounts to get gold to sell to other players. They steal accounts from people who were foolish enough to give them log in information and strip the accounts. They install key loggers on people’s computers who buy from them and steal financial information from them. They also steal accounts by using bank and credit card fraud to buy accounts then reverse the charges to get money back. This reversal of charges costs the company both in the lost sales but also in the fines from their financial insurance providers for having charges reversed. They also bot to get both gold and mats which causes gold inflation and weakens the prices of the mats you want to sell.

With gem to gold selling, the players are trading between themselves. No hacked accounts. No gold inflation and no credit card or bank fraud.

Lost Precipice Guild Hall. Lots of house-things to decorate everywhere.

You’re welcome.

Not everyone in a guild will have permission to decorate and anyone with permissions can delete your decorations. It’s not exactly the privately owned and decorated housing the thread is discussing.

Unless you’re talking about owning a whole guild hall by yourself? That might be possible, but expensive.

Invisible bags are useful but when you switch out two one handed weapons for a two handed weapon one will go in the two handed weapon slot and the other will go into the first open inventory slot, which means it’s possible to sell it. I sold an ascended weapon to a vendor once when my game lagged during selling. I got it back because I reviewed my sales to merchant but a don’t sell mark on it would have stopped that.

You just need to leave a space in your inventory after the two-handed weapon – if you swap a two-handed weapon for a main and off hand, the main hand will go into the space vacated by the two-handed weapon, and the off hand weapon will go into the space to its right, if empty.

That helps. It requires you to have weapons in a correct and careful order that not everyone will know about (I didn’t) but it’s better than nothing.

The game drops gemstone armor sets?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chad.6104

The answer to your question ‘does the game drop gemstore armor sets’ is no. If it did drop one for you it was a bug of some sort and not a normal drop. As said above, if you really want to know you can make a ticket, give the approximate date and ask support if it came from the gemstore by purchase or the upgrade that came with the beta accounts. That would answer your question better than our speculations of what might have happened.

For something to drop it has to be put in the loot table by a Dev. There are no boxes of armor in the loot table and certainly no gemstore boxes of armor in any mobs loot table. What’s much more likely is you bought the Heroic or Deluxe edition or bought the armor, got a box of the armor and forgot that it was in your inventory and thought it was a drop afterwards. If you did somehow get it as a drop it was a very strange and unusual bug that no one else has reported.

Expansion Discounts for players who buy gems?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chad.6104

If another expansion comes out for a full price of $50 again that includes base game and HoT, I will quit. After HoT, not interested in another cash grab from this game just to be relevant in PvP. Sell off Living Stories or something.

Then don’t play any other MMO’s. Pretty much every MMO out there is now doing this when a new expansion comes out, the core and the older expansions are bundled with it for the same price.

Please tell me which MMOs are doing this. Because atm this is the only one I’ve seen where this is the case.
I don’t mind Anet bundling Expacs with the game, every games does it eventually.
But having it at full-game price when the expac does not have a full-game worth of content and doesn’t give any sort of discount towards people who have already bought the game feels like giving a middle finger to those that bought the game before.
IF they are realeasing a new Xpac, and they are doing the same kitten they did with HoT. It better kitten be worth buying it from the perspective of someone who already has the game. Otherwise I’ll just again wait until it goes stupidly low price on a key site.
At first when I saw the HoT price, I honestly though Anet were joking or something.

And this is where we disagree. I found the pricing normal for an expansion. So much so that I pre-purchased the Ultimate at $100 and was not one bit disappointed with the content and am still not one bit disappointed. Playing almost every day I have had my monies worth and more.

I don’t know many expansions that have the price of the full game.
Maybe its just an MMO thing.

Probably an mmo thing. WoW is $15 a month, the game has a cash shop and the current expansion is $70 for the digital version.

What is the point of having a minus (in combat for a minute)? You can’t use these in raids, WvW or PvP. That leaves dungeons and regular PvE. Are so many people doing dungeons that a full minute of in combat is needed?

Maybe arenanet needs to rethink this item. It’s expensive to buy for what it does and most of the time there’s a waypoint nearby so it’s easier to waypoint then run back rather than use something like that.

You’re assuming that Ring of fire and all future zones will have multiple waypoints.

I read that the new map wouldn’t have multiple waypoints, but still what good is the 60 second in combat? What value does it have and why should it be there? It still has the gem price and the time to revive to limit the use so why stick a negative on it?

Edit: there was something about no or fewer waypoints but fast travel by ley lines or something like that. So it still might be better to go to a waypoint then use the maps fast travel system instead of the time to be revived, using up a scarce gemstore item and being limited by a in combat health regen for a minute.

Please stop nerfing PVE!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chad.6104

Chad.6104

Hello everyone,

I’d just like to say that PVE has been getting constantly nerfed. When the game first launched, we could actually enjoy mildly difficult PVE content, whether it was the world bosses, the dungeons or the fracatls. But now? Everything is EASY!!! Fire Elemental is one of the most killed World Bosses and now it literally takes 20 seconds to kill!

When I play a game, I’d like to be at least slightly challenged. This is one of the main reasons I NEVER pve anymore.

With the addition of PVE raids, I’m starting to be able to enjoy good content again, as it actually takes training, focus and mastery to get through the raids. PLEASE don’t nerf that too!! I’m so scared of them nerfing raids as well!

What do you guys think? Should PVE be kept easy and not challenging, or should they slightly bump up the difficulty level, so that we don’t just steamroll through everything and look at PVE like just another mob farm fest? Thank you for reading

You realize that when the game first launched no one was level 80 and with max gear and full traits? It took time for the majority of the players to hit 80 and gear up. There also weren’t a crowd of level 80s at the world bosses either. Of course PvE was harder back then. If you want to have the same type of PvE challenge go back to your launch time gear of mismatched greens and a handful of traits.

Why should the PvE lore be rewritten and favoritism shown to one WvW server?

I am sorry but YOU are incorrect. I have world complete on 11 chars now. I could NEVER see my own star on any of those chars. Everyone else can see the star on my char tho.

If you want to test this, message me in game and I will take a screen shot of your char, I bet you I will see the star. However YOU will never be able to see the star on your own char.

As you can see in the pic below: I have 22 gifts of exploration and you can see no star above my char. This is my main char who was the first to get world complete. So if the star was ever visible to us it would be there – but it never has been, only to other people.

Don’t forget we could never even see our own name let alone anything else. It was only recently that anet has allowed us to even see what we can see. I guess they think it’s not important for us to see our own stars or that it would be too much clutter.

I told him to check by asking a friend and he said no one else can see it.

No one including myself can see my medal

Yeah I know, good chance tho if he asked any “random” person in game or even a “friend” that they could be trolling or not even sure what he’s asking them to look for lol.

But it could be as others have said. There may be a bug where other’s can’t see it as well. But either way, no matter what he will not get what he wants which is him being able to see it on his char. Not unless anet implements it anyways as it’s not in there yet for any of us.

There was a bug a while back where the star disappeared from nameplates. Maybe it happened again and he found out from a friend commenting on it.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chad.6104

Chad.6104

Not a criticism of your idea but there’s a problem with making things too complex in a game that doesn’t even have a basic cc tutorial, much less a breakbar and what it is tutorial. There’s appears to be a lot of people out there who don’t know what cc is, don’t know what the breakbar is, how you break it or why you would want to. Making the breakbar more complex will make the crowd who don’t know what it is even larger.

If arenanet were to have proper tutorials then complexity can be layered on. At this point, adding more layers to the mob encounter without a proper tutorial wont benefit those players who spam skill 111111111111111111 and use all other skills off cooldown.

Even 10 man groups which seem to be the top number allowed for instances couldn’t do those events and have it like the real thing. Even small things wouldn’t do well. An instance where you repaired signposts? One where you encountered some of those sonar things and destroyed them? Those would be boring as instances yet they also were part of the story of season 1. It would take a lot of dev time for instances people would mostly do once and never again. I’d prefer they work on new stuff rather than old story from years back.

2. Buying “visits” to said in-game npc with gems instead of a separate kit every time (much like transmutes)

You can already do this. There are stylist in the major cities that allow you to preview both hairstyles and total makeovers. Once you chosen your new look you can buy a kit with gems then accept the changes. Those gems can be bought with ingame gold.

Humans in Tyria - Feedback and question

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Chad.6104

Maybe humans excel at sociability and pulling groups together. Charr are separated into warbands and Asura into krewes. Norn are solitary at heart. Sylvari are everywhere but they are poking around and looking at things as single Sylvari, not groups of Sylvari.

As a society, Humans seem to have the ability to form larger, homogenous groups more. The other races form groups, but they are smaller groups. The central governments of the other races seems more fragmented. The Sylvari have the Pale Tree, but she is one and not a group of people working together. The Norn don’t have a central government. The Asura have the Arcane council, but it seems weaker than the humsn government which is backed up by the Seraphs and the Shining Blade. The Charr have imperators, but lack the over rule by one person, the Khan-Ur. They have a military chain of command government, not a ruler with a council and army government.

I’m not really sure what help we can give you. If you’re asking if some were bugged, I don’t think we have an easy way to know. Most people got them as a done thing when the expansion started with no way to see if one was done but not rewarded. All we can say is do the ones that show available.

It is simple to see if the achievement was completed but not rewarded, because one could compare the list on the wiki to one’s achievements and see if the total matches the total available one has for Central Tyria.

If the OP wants, they can visit gw2efficiency.com (or similar sites) and enter an API key (from http://account.arena.net/ ) and post the URL here (or message it to any of us offering help). That way, we can see the same list of achievements and help with the comparison and identify what remains and/or what to work on.

For what it’s worth:

  • 66 points are avail in central Tyria.
    • 14 of those points are available via Fractals
  • 49 points are needed to unlock all central Tyria masteries
    • 11 points are needed to unlock the fractal masteries.

Or put another way, you need only 38 points to unlock the masteries outside of fractals and there are 52 available — you don’t need to enter fractals necessarily.

Yes. You can see the totals but if one or any was bugged can you see which one that you did that didn’t give you a point? After all, you can physically count the red stars you have on your mastery panels, but that won’t say this one or that one was bugged and you didn’t get it.

It wouldn’t require a new server. The servers with language designations are obsolete since magaservers came out. They also were ANet acknowledging something players did at launch, which was working out which servers they should go to for their own language. So even if arenanet added a new language there would be no new servers or new WvW.

They already have to record 40 different actors for each line. Adding another language would mean 10 more actors (5 races X 2 sexes) and they would need to go back over all the whole game re-recording everything. There would also be the cost of converting all text to Russian. A considerable cost for translation of the whole game, voice actors, and time.

In addition, if they have another language they would probably need to add Russian support with people capable of speaking Russian, as all the other languages have their own support. Also not cheap.

Unless there would be a huge numbers of new Russian players to pay for this it would lose them money.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epicanthic_fold
One of the primary facial features that is often closely associated with the epicanthic fold is elevation of the nasal bridge. All else equal, a lower-rooted nasal bridge is more likely to cause epicanthic folds, and a higher-rooted nasal bridge is less likely to do so. There are various factors that influence whether someone has epicanthic folds, including geographical ancestry, age, and certain medical conditions.
