Ah, all the lovely times I got yelled at for knockbacking solely for being the only ranger in the group.

I still have yet to see how exactly did I do it while holding an axe and a warhorn, but I assume it’s just us rangers being magical that way.

Executioner has horrible scaling and the bandit bosses who just spam perma-evade are hardly any fun, but besides that, I do enjoy them being a bit more challenge.

Not to mention most of the raid lore is accessible to anyone who enters a cleared raid instance.

Picking up the pieces from someone else’s grand adventure. Wow, that sure sounds like the best story experience ever.

Imagine going to the cinema to see the Avengers, but since you’re not considered “cool” or “pro” enough, you’d only follow the adventures of Johnny McNoname sifting through the rubble in New York after both the heroes and spacemonsters left and literally all you have is passers by (NPC) telling you they saw an awesome thing and some paper scraps with apocalyptic notes (bandit journals). All that while your next door neighbor is one of the “privileged” (guildie that has the time to raid) rants to you how awesome it was to see the actual Avengers.

You get literally the same experience (or possibly worse) like a person who just reads the wiki, is told of the story by their friend or watches one of WPs videos. And again, neither of those is why people play videogames.

And since all that comes with the fact that non-raidy people basically just had almost a year with little to no actual story content, that just comes as a bit too much of a punch in the teeth.

(And to be honest, I feel kinda like quite the richard for being the “privileged” neighbor to my friends.)

And, you’re not being penalized, they’re not going and taking something away from everyone who doesn’t raid. You’re just not getting what the raiders get.

I’m not being penalized at all, I farm the raids on a weekly basis. But I think that raiders getting legendary armor, exclusive skins and other shiny trophies is enough. Basic game content (which the Living/Personal story is, no matter how you frame it) should not be part of an exclusive package.

So I kind of see this frustration as something like wanting to know all the information in the Silmarillion but not wanting to spend the time to read what is basically an encyclopedia. I still love the Hobbit and LOTR series but I can’t get myself to read the Silmarillion, however thanks to third party sources I’ve run across I’ve gotten quite a bit of that information in an easier/more entertaining way.

Problem is, anyone CAN read the Silmarillion, as long as they have the book and the ability to read. Even if you don’t have the time, you can read it bit by bit. Ten minutes on the morning bus is enough for you to one day finish reading it.

Raids are a completely different beast. There are people that simply won’t ever be able to raid, because they have jobs, because they have families, because other things prevent them from spending hours setting up a raid, and dozens of hours learning the first three wings. That’s not a question how much you want it, that’s a question of how much you are physically able to.

Those people were previously just fine playing the singleplayer aspect of the game, because it can come at its own pace. Now they’re being penalized for it even though what was previously said suggested otherwise. That’s just not fair.

I’m not saying raid stories shouldn’t send ripples to overall continuity, but they should be a completely separate minor storyline. Between the trailer and the “interview” with Queen Jennah, White Mantle are setting up to be direct sequel to Forsaken Thicket.

The raid is not a story, it’s teasers of what is going to be the story. A preview can easily be considered a reward.

If you want it, do what it takes to get it instead of asking stuff be reduced to where you don’t have to succeed in the challenges that many people have already shown to be possible. A group 4-manned VG earlier this week, so I can’t exactly say that it has to be for the “select few”, especially when considering that wing 3 (which contains the vast majority of these previews) is the easiest yet and more people can clear it without as much trouble.

Oh right, suuure. And the four guys who did the 4man VG were casual group who can only play an hour a day, right?

As I stated above, I am a raider. I completed the raids, I farm them weekly. But I’m also a gamer and I can afford to spend hours to learn the bosses before being able to handle them with ease (unless you want to tell me the 4-manned group also one-shot it on their first try because they were either savants or they just didn’t need the mechanics, because the raids are that easy).

But I’m also painfully aware not everyone has that kind of time, patience or skill. Raid is far beyond what the story-related content required so far to the point of being out of reach.

I don’t want raids to be nerfed (I very much enjoy the challenge), but putting a much more casual content (story) to be gated behind them is just plain stupid. When I go and play the story, I want to experience it myself, not having to rely to my “cool raider friend” or WoodenPotatoes to explain to me what’s been locked away.

So raiders will always be the first to get the breaking news while the rest will have to read the wiki and watch youtube? How fun.

Yeah, how dare people be rewarded for doing challenging content

Uh… except they already are? Or do you think the gold and ascended drops and exclusive skins and legendary armor are just some trash nobody wanted…

Story isn’t a reward, it’s the point of many people playing the game. Raids are part of the game that ANet said is “only for the select few” and they indeed are. That select few tends to be rather far from people playing games for their stories.

Exaggeration. You’re acting as if the raid story is some major piece of the LS. There can be events that occur outside of the story that the player sees. You see this done in movies and books.

That would be logical thought, but problem is, the footage from raids doesn’t seem to be offhand or small feature, it makes up the bulk of the trailer and makes it sound that the “Out of the Shadows” will be a direct sequel to the raids, and that’s far beyond the “separated lore update”.

Which either makes it a bad trailer in terms of information, or bad decision in terms of storytelling if the presumption is correct.

They can provide a synopsis of what occurred. This is done frequently in moves and books. How is that difficult to understand?

Why bother playing the game at all? Just have a friend who’ll tell you about it instead. He or she will tell you all you need to know to understand the story. Or why bother watching a movie or reading a book? Just google the summary.

I hope you see the difference.

Thanks for not being lazy like me and actually finding the correct quotes.

But indeed, this is a rather asinine move. That’s like playing a game on easy or normal difficulty and the game suddenly telling you that unless you play on hardcore or insane difficulties, some story parts will be censored for you. Or more analogous: playing Uncharted with the game telling you halfway through: “We’ll now skip chapters 15-17 and only give you a brief summary of what’s happened in them. If you want to experience it for yourself, complete the first act of Dark Souls.”

It’s stupid, it’s unfair, it penalises players that are not “hardcore enough” (and many even have the skill for raids, but can be kitten d to spend half a day looking for nine other people) and it drives away another segment of your playerbase.

Between PVP people being annoyed, WvW people being annoyed, that’s quite a dangerous thing for the game’s future to do.

All story related content in raids will be covered in the LS in some form.

Well, you have two bad options on your hands:

Either people who DO raids will feel stupid for having to do the same story AGAIN, just with more boring bossfights, or you just give a brief retelling of what happened in the raids, in which case you tell the non-raiders “Oh, we’re not showing you that until you get good, noob, so here’s the digested version.”

I don’t want to be a doomsayer, I want to be proven wrong and if I am proven wrong and the story interwoven in an intelligent manner, I’ll be happy as a flea. But form current point of view, it just looks like the “non-hardcore audience” who can’t raid just got shived in the eye with a rusty spoon.

Eeerrhm… please correct me if I’m mistaken, but way back, when raids were first released as the “top tier hard content only a few players will be able experience”, didn’t the devs also say that their story will be completely separate from the main plot?

Then why is the trailer full of Xera’s castle and White mantle hints? You know… the stuff that was supposed to be contained to raids? Hello? Or do you think most “single-player people” (where personal story is analogous to playing any singleplayer game on easy/normal difficulty) will just handwave being basically told “Oh we can’t let you experience all of the story because you’re not good enough/dedicated enough player, so just catch up.”?

(And if some smartpants Jack runs over here to tell me to “learn 2 play noob and go raiding”, I actually am a raider, I’m killing the raid bosses on weekly basis, so it technically doesn’t concern me, but that doesn’t mean I can’t find it a bit of a kitten move towards those who can’t raid, in case it’s what it seems to be.)

Well, for now at least, it’s a jarring difference. Every time I’m in wing 3 of the raid, I pray it will be someone else on the team to get voice quips, because it is around the same level of “Thanks for pitching in.”

Which is frankly annoying as hell.

It’s hardly the new VA’s fault and when schedules are kitteny, there’s not much to do about it; all I can judge is the final result and that result currently butchers my main character, resulting in a rather unhappy me. And this being the charr and ANet having a horrible track record fixing virtually anything on the charr, I’ll just keep my skeptic hat and say that we’re not getting fully re-recorded lines any time soon, if ever.

… so muting the sound on LS3 it is.

I entered stronghold of the faithful on my male charr main and got kicked in the ears. Either there’s a change in voice actor, or there’s something wrong with audiomixing. I sound sluggish, am hard to understand and it sounds like someone leaned far enough on the drop trebble toggle to the point of falling asleep on it and accidentally producing the results.

Seriously, I sound like an orc. That’s gutting my main charr and half my character roster. Females seem to be fine, but males sound like a schizophrenic when they pop normal battlequip (boon) with a completely different voice in the middle of a SotF dialogue.

I know charr don’t really get patch support, so I don’t really hope for a fix, but could someone please come down and explain what it is? Bug? Feature? Change you just didn’t think anybody would notice? What?

New legendary effects on charr

It looks like the arm aura is half there. It might be because of the effect lod option in the graphics setting. Unchecking it should fix it if that is the problem. The downside of course, is all the effects spam you’ll be seeing from other players.

It’s a huge oversight for effect lod to be culling legendary effects for the person with the legendary. I’m fine with other people not seeing my legendary effects, but I’d like to see them all the time with effect lod checked please.

Nope, I can confirm that is not the case. I always play with LOD limit unchecked, since my rig is strong enough to handle it.

I tried fiddling with graphics settings, but nothing I could find brought the change. The effect is still sunken into my arm (made even worse when I put on gloves) and looks like I was just painting my place blue and ended up dirtier than the wall. The size pulses a bit, sometimes it’s slightly bigger, sometimes it’s nonexistent, but the moldy patchwork effect is always present and nothing I do changes anything about it.

I’m not really a fan of legendary weapons, but when Astralaria was first teased and subsequently released, I thought I finally found the one grossly expensive weapon I’d like to make.

I mean, look at this, what is there not to like:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/a/a9/Astralaria.jpg

Took six months, some fun, some grinding, and I finally have a legendary axe window to the outer space. However, my joy only lasted five minutes, when I noticed that once again, as a charr player, I’m on the unpleasant end of “shiv them in the face with glitchy graphics” spectrum.

Because while humanoid races tease me with that nice glowing arm effect, I get… essentially a cloud of blue mold around my biceps area.

Since it’s been over three years and my Soul of Koda is still clipping through my tail, I can hardly hope for a fix of this, since charr kind of get to count on this happening.

So, while I was planning to get Chuka & Champawat next, I can now say I’m not about to (although the quest bound to it is genuinely fun so far), since I’m not willing to risk having to once again go through the least fun and most arduous process in the whole game (hello, 250 Amalgamated Gemstones) to get something I’m more than likely enough to have screwed just for the fact I’m not playing a human.

Thanks a lot.

Indeed, I must say it’s fun. And I’ll be one of the fools who go out and say I actually like the toned-down design of the bow, since I never appreaciated every other Johnny swinging a giant surfboard with a piece of skyline painted on it that they’re somehow convinced is a sword. Compared to those, this actually looks like a solid bow. (And the shots are FAR less annoying than the whining Dreamer).

My only regret is that I wish it had a bit more Indian flavor to it, but otherwise, it’s a weapon I’ll sure try and hunt down. Despite having little use for a shortbow as a power-based ranger.

So kudos to your team.

I’ll play the devil’s advocate and say that I frankly understand his confusion. The infographics said “Season ends January 26th”, which many, myself included, thought woud mean “the usual patch time”, or, at least indeed ON “January 26th” (which could actually be interpreted as both “ending midnight 25-26th” or even “ends 26th, 23:59”

Due to timezones, adding a countdown timer on the last 24 hours would have been very helpful and may prevent further confusion next season.

"Taken" names

Changer the Elder.2948

Surname is a good option indeed. But I selfishly admit all my charr are single names only, and I like them that way. Some required some creativity, some, I got lucky with – I still can’t believe Morhault wasn’t taken when I created my Revenant this autumn (come on, people, read more books). And I enjoy it because it makes sense lore-wise (as my charr’s warband is only given when playing Blood, and some of my charr are simply gladiums who never touched the personal story), and frankly, mostly because when I get a letter, it just simply grinds something in my little black writer heart to see something along the lines of “Looks like the tide has turned, Ragenar Steelmane” coming from Rytlock in a place that calls for rank or one name only.

Maybe, for future reference (and I apologize if that has already been suggested), an optional Surname bracket would be nice instead. The kind storywriting could use naturally (with either of the names) but would still be able to distinguish all the “Jane” players in the world by their full display name. After all, that’s what surnames pretty much are for IRL x)

Hardly appliable now, but maybe Guild Wars 3?

Auric Basin map completion gating

Changer the Elder.2948

I don’t like being forced to do the exact same story on all of my alts just to get map completion on all of them. In my opinion, that’s a stupid tie-in.

Also, is there any word on whether or not the map completion rewards are actually bugged or do they not intend to have any map completion rewards since no map since Orr has ever had them?

Yggdrasill collection tells me pretty straightly that ther are map completion chests meant for this expansion maps – as said Yggdrasil colelction have requirement for an item told to be “Reward for a map completion at magus falls map with a ranger”…..

so ofc bugged one way or another….

Wait. We are going to get map completion rewards only if we do it on a RANGER?

No, you get map completion rewards on ALL classes, and you get them in Southsun, Dry Top and Silverwastes, too. Alas, it’s only on characters who haven’t completed it yet, and haven’t completed central Tyria 100%, because then it bugs out.

You can complete the map with any class, and for that class, you’re supposed to get a bonus chest for the elite specialization collection that unlocks your elite’s ascended weapon. Yggdrasil is merely a reward collection for druids (it’s a stick. Literally. Roots included), part of which is completing ANY of the new Maguuma Falls map with the class, among other jolly things.

Each class has those, and they unlock upon getting the first elite spec skill unlocked for you to collect. So in total, to get every elite class box, you need to complete any of the Maguuma maps 9 times over (not necessary to do the same map).

Maybe not always accessible, there’s plenty tied to the story of Heart of Thorns one is forced to run through it at least once, anyways, but it could instead ask for an achievement pass instead of character-bound one.

It could even be handwaved in-universe, reasoning that “oh, I sense your connection to the egg bearer, they must have sent you” or something along the lines.

I apologize beforehand if this has been posted before, I can’t find it on the forums.

I’m generally fine with gating map completion behind a challenge. I don’t mind some places being unreachable without beating Octovine, or without having the appropriate mastery. But I’d like to kindly ask if you could reconsider gating the map completion of Auric Basin behind a story progress gate. It makes sense in-universe, I admit, and I happilly jumped in on my main charr (who can’t, in cruel irony, complete the map, because he’s the only one with 100% Tyria completion).

But forcing us to do story with alts is not something I’d like to see, here or in the future. Please, consider the part of your fanbase and playerbase that consists of roleplayers. And roleplayers, especially nitpicky ones, refuse to have 9 pact commanders running around. My personal story on many of my charrs still sits on “contact your warband in home instance”, because I simply don’t want them to follow the very same path others before them did.

While I can bypass the inability to enter my racial homeinstance by entering anyone else’s, locking a POI, a vista (and to some degree, sanctum scramble, but its completion’s account-wide anyway) behind a mandatorily chosen chapter in story is just wrong. I’d like to kindly remind you Claw Island also doesn’t count for Map completion.

And quite frankly, even if I wasn’t a roleplayer, doing the same 8 chapters of story 9 times over just to reach a single place is just plain stupid.

…. I’m sorry, but do explain to me how a group of ten, which, as mentioned before, counts by far as a guild by ArenaNet’s own definition, is supposed to get this?

Below are just some of the things you need for the basic versus arena. Seems like roughly 100 PVP daily rewards. Seasonal rewards.

This punishes any player who hasn’t been sitting on a stockpile of mats for the past 3 years. Guilds comprised of new players have absolutely no chance to get this anytime soon, even if they rigorously play every day.

Mats donation? Sure, fine. But to this degree? This is absurd. And it botches the whole guild hall system.

Even if you capture your guild hall, which is nicely balanced fight, you’re stuck at a giant empty map nobody of your guild will have a reason to come back to, because it’s bloody empty and will be for months and months to come. And that defies the whole purpose of even having the bloody thing.

Changer the Elder.2948

With all due respect, if there’s a promise broken this expansion, it’s the “we’ll be more friendly to smaller guilds” thing.

Seriously, even some guilds of hundreds struggle with the requirements of guild halls building. A guild of ten (which IS a guild – as long as there’s Destiny’s Edge in-universe calling itself a guild, anything up from 5 people is regularly called a guild by ANet itself, so if you ever wanted a definition, there’s one.), unless it’s a guild of dirt-rich ten, has extremely hard time.

Yes, guild hall can be claimed with a party. But building it? With the thousands of gold you need to spare in mats? That’s everything but small-guild friendly.

To expand my thought a bit:

You either have a guild of 5-15, where most people stick tight and know each other, willing to donate a lot, BUT going broke because of it, resulting in a guild frustrated over the lack of progress in their hall.

Or you have a guild of 250, which is mostly anonymous glob of players that keep most of the mats to themselves, because they have little incentive to invest, as the guild is much less personal. And you get a guild frustrated over the lack of progress in their hall.

Not sure about you, but that’s an extremely bad design decision in my book.

Loving the new and improved guild system so far, but the requirements and gold-sinking is downright ridiculous.

I haven’t bought any commander tag, and don’t really intend to.
But I also think that the mentor tags should have way more limitation than thay have now.
Also calling people special snowflake because they spent 300g on they stuff while others can use similar functionality for free is kinda douchie.

Mentorship is supposed to help mentoring people. Which means, it’s supposed to help people that aren’t familiar with the game. There’s ZERO reason to keep those in high level area. By the time people get to lvl60+, they know how to get around in this game.

Really? Ever been to Verdant Brink? People were eager to learn the event mechanics, to find out the tricks and tips to get around to Hero Challenges and all that. Mentors are useful in every zone, when used right. Force people to use them right instead of giving illogical restrictions.

As I said, when you get to lvl80, you know how to find out things for yourself. You don’t get the tutorials hold your hand until the final boss in single player games.
Finding the mechanisms in fights is part of the gameplay in guild wars 2. Do you also expect Anet to distribute a full detailed guide on how to succeed in raids while they release them ?

You need help in Verdant Brink, you just ask. You know how to get your information by the point you attack the expansion.
New players don’t necessarly know how to get their information. And THAT is what the mentor tags are for. Not to hold people’s hand for new content.

And you miss the purpose of what it means to be a mentor. YOU see them as poor man’s commanders. Mentor, who tries to be a good mentor, is someone willing to teach mechanics of the new map. Leading through people that are in for the first time, for example. You can’t ask for something you don’t know is there. There’s no reason to restrict something that’s potentially good just because a bunch of nitwits don’t use it right. It would be like removing washbasins from public bathrooms on the basis that some people insist on spraying water all over the room.

When the novelty wears off, those people will go away and find themselves something else to amuse with. Just like you don’t see 30+ commander in each city anymore.

I’d say, if you’ve got a mentor tag up in any zone, you’re asking to be asked for help with hero challenges or events. So start bugging those with mentor tags for help with events and hero challenges. Make them realize that the mentor tag isn’t the poor man’s commander’s tag.

I fully support that. The tool is good, people just need to use it. The way it’s meant to be used, not to show off they have it. It used to be the same with commander tags back in the heyday, every jerk displayed them all over maps. We’ll have to wait for the novelty to wear off a bit. Then they’ll stop. Not much ANet can do about that.

Obviously, when a karka hatchling attaches itself to your wyvern, it grows into humongous proportions. It’s even bigger than the Karka Queen.

Hilarious, and it’s one of the things I know I’ll be sorry to see fixed. But alas. Does any of the other new ranger pets do it, too? Have you seen it happen?

Skipping Story part for BWE

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Changer the Elder.2948

Actually, you can skip it. As masteries are account-wide, it’s enough just for your first toon to breeze through the story part. For all the others, just enter the Verdant Brink from Silverwastes, as usual, and when you enter the “story” story (with Braham and others), simply go to character select and go back in. That will put you straight to Verdant Brink, with the story chapter appearing as an entrance close to where you are ported to. That way, you only have to sit through one story through all of the beta (to unlock the masteries) and all your other characters can just run through Silverwastes and hop straight to the action.

And freshly logging into the beta game, I notice the Heart of Thorns main theme that plays on the login screen during the event has been updated as well! Sneaky, sneaky…

Still not sure if I prefer original or the remix, but the current version is nicely kitten to go with the imminent release. So please, huge kudos to your music crew, they keep outdoing themselves.

Proposed Staff Rev/Ventari Changes

Not sure I’m proposing something changeable, but while I generally like the staff and the way it handles, there’s one thing that just boggles me and that is the en-garde stance.

Because with the Mistward armor, it just does this… and that seems downright impractical x)

Fundamental Condition-Ranger Problems

Eeee…. “Signet of the Hunt”, permanent increase of movement speed by 25%? I’ve been using it ever since I started with the ranger, I swap it out for other skills as necessary and I’m a happy camper. I actually found out that ranger is one of the most agile and mobile classes in the game.

You are very new to this game do you?
While most classes get 25%~33% movement speed by taking a single trait, we always have to either sacrifice a weapon set or a signet, or something like Guard to get that 25% mobility that everyone has…

I readily admit my knowledge of other classes is not as expansive.

I however remember mesmers bemoaning lack of permanent movement upgrade (resulting in sales on traveller runes), warriors having to don two one-handed weapons to gain a speed upgrade we get by a single sigil (and can therefore swap out much easilly), guardians having no way but a rune to get a speedboost…

The only other classes I can think of that offer rangerstyle easy-to-swap-out sigil method are thief and elementalist.

Also playing since day -1. Not that has anything to do with anything.

Charr Hairstyles - think Manes

What boggles the mind is when I found the newly released content made specifically for charr (i.e. hair styles) clips heavilly into heads, horns of all shapes and ears. Come on, that’s not even lazy effort :[ I know we’re measly ten per cent of your playerbase, but that’s still a few thousand people.

I definitely support the mane idea as inspiration. The various basic styles we got with launch were good, but I have to struggle to find more than one goodlooking hairdo from the exclusive BL set.

To make all clear!

When you PLACE trap you get HEAL part!
When trap Trigger, it places Water Field, which give you regen and clean conditions.
It’s how it work and it’s how it have to work!

(snip)

PS! Trap don’t have to heal on trigger, it have to apply waterfield and regen on trigger.

In that case, that is bugged as well, since I believe to have lacked the heal part on multiple occasions (tested in PvE and Mists).

Healing spring works as intended in that the healing is independent of the trap component.
The combo field and condi removal is the trap itself.
What does not work:
-It doesn’t heal your pet
-It won’t activate if you start loosing hp while standing on it after have casted it at full life. Instead you need to go out of its trigger radius and go back in.
-You can stack it

Believe me, I know what a combo field looks like, I also know what an unsprung trap looks like. Trap itself is useless unless triggered into an active state, it won’t work as a combo, it won’t heal anyone, it won’t give regen or cleanse conditions unless you get that leaky water thing coming out of the ground.

And during the afforementioned karka incident, the trap refused to trigger at all, resulting in no heal, no combo field, no nothing but a whirl of leaves humming on the ground that didn’t trigger no matter how many times I left it, entered it, rolled into it, jumped around in a circle… Considering my health was 20%ish, because I got hit by a roaming hatchling party, the gods of “you don’t need heals because you’re not sick enough” (which is a stupid concept either way) are in dire need of glasses.

As a ranger clocking at 1010+ days under my belt, I’d like to add my voice to the current state of the healing pool.

Yes, it’s bugged as hell.

First, I can confirm, pet is getting no heal from it.

Second, it not activating has nothing to do with health. It occasionally fails to activate for reasons probably known only to those weird human gods. Ever. Usually, yes it helps to get out of it and enter the trap again (which is exactly what you want to bother yourself doing when your health is low…). But it happened to me more than a handful of times already that the spring simply refused to activate. Yesterday, during Karka queen, I was attempting to heal a group of players around me, but was left with a leafy circle on the ground that was humming softly, and no amount of acrobatics could open it, leaving me with two dead comrades and me having to bail from a fight to lick my wounds via a friendly engineer with a turret kit.

Third, I’d like to be the voice that says that making it a trap in the first place was a terrible idea. The tooltip is now extremely inaccurate, claiming casting time of 1/2 seconds, while in reality it’s now always 1/2 seconds to cast + 1/2-3-never to open, the latter number being adherent to the afformentioned gods, (which I as a charr do not worship, therefore more often than not am found being told to kitten off and heal elsewhere) + 1/2-1 more second to receive the first healing tick (this, I noticed, being related to amount of players and lag, so nothing much to do with it.)

I understand why the change was probably made – to fit into a bracket, to play well with the new trait system. Problem is, the Healing pool “nottrap” it was before worked perfectly fine. Solid heal skil that removed a condition from yourself and allies taxed in return by having a limited range of movement over time to receive all of its benefits. It was the best tool rangers had for healing, and, in this ranger’s humble opinion, the only actually useful one. Right now, it’s a 50/50 tossacoin chance if it will even work properly, and has a delay that can be fatal, leaving the ranger with a very subpar choice of health replenishment (troll unguent’s mostly uselessly slow and selfish only, heal as one bugs out as well by healing 600 instead of 6000 and is, again, selfish, neither remove conditions, neither has a combo field – which the ranger already has a limited number of – that arcane thing removing torment is nice for removing torment, but useless for everything else, and water spirit is good for band aids, but treating a warrior’s sword stuck in my gut with one is also rather lacking).

Please, unless you can make the trap work properly and without penalizing casting times, return it to its previous, simple state :[

It’s not just the asura, the new angle’s horrible with charr as well. While it fixed the issue of taller charr going off-screen, it now gives them a very nasty bobblehead effect. :/

Pre-Purchase Community Address

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Changer the Elder.2948

Changer the Elder.2948

Dear people, how is someone scheming against you this time around? Pre-purchase is clearly what it states: purchase in advance. And guess what. Nobody’s forcing you to do it. Nobody’s telling you “Buy now when you don’t know/trust the product or you won’t ever play this game, inser-evil-corporate-laugh™!”, nobody’s forcing you to buy it directly from ANet, either, as it will be distributed through normal retail stores, it will be available through pre-orders (which are orders, not payments in advance), it will be available to buy after release.

You can still wait. You will be able to get your expansion the minute it launches, even days after it, or never, depending on whenever you deem it worthy of your money. The only thing you get out of a pre-purchase is your show of trust in the developers. If you have it, devs will just give you something extra on the side (a shiny title to brag with on the internet, basically) and let you into backstage testing (beta), that’s literally all of it. It’s basically like buying a sponsor upgrade to anything – you show you have faith in the product, you show your support to it. And support’s a beautiful thing, because it’s voluntary.

The solution is simple now: you don’t think you’re being offered enough? Then don’t buy it. You don’t think the price is fair? Don’t buy it. Feel free to wait. Or don’t. You’re free to do with your money as you see fit. As we all are.

A ray of sunshine and positivity on the forums. Lo and behold a unicorn…

But snark aside, I second that notion. Guild Halls seem to be a kitten feature and I can’t wait to see them in person. I just hope guild of five will be able to claim theirs, just as a guild of fifty or two hundred can. After all, the upgrade mentions it’s trying to balance small and large guilds, so here goes hoping x)

Here is my rebuttal

Show me on the faq or buy page where it says for new accounts only.

Show me on the FAQ or buy page where it says people who have had accounts do not get another one free.

Then after that, link me the definition of the word includes.

I have refuted the same point 3 times already, you’re being willfully ignorant.

Again, strawman argument. I’ve never claimed those things you’re now demanding me to “proof”. Read my post again (the previous one), try to understand. You’re not paying for the core game again or some bundle. You’re paying for HoT and only HoT. If you are a new player you get the core game thrown in for free.

No it isn’t a straw man argument, again you are being willfully ignorant.

You JUST, not even 10 minutes ago said and I quote

If you shelf out 50$ you’re paying for HoT. Nothing more, nothing less.
If you’re a veteran and you pay 50$ you get access to HoT and all its features.
If you’re a new player and you pay 50$ you get access to HoT and all its features.
It’s not about bundles….you’re not paying for a bundle…you’re paying for HoT. You just happen to get the base game for free if you’re a new player. You can try to see HoT as the new “core” game if that makes it easier.

Which is by the language on the buy page
100% false.

The standard edition says
Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns expansion(includes Guild Wars 2 core game)
http://buy.guildwars2.com/store/gw2/en_US/html/pbPage.heartofthorns?_ga=1.150305589.243290696.1381912305&cid=90:5::::Global:40:::

The definition of include is-
to contain, as a whole does parts or any part or element:-

that means
Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns expansion(includes ((see the definition))Guild Wars 2 core game)
A Bundle-bun·dle
?b?ndl/Submit
noun
1.
a collection of things

So try and put two an two together.

Sorry this isn’t an opinion, based on this buy page, it’s a matter of fact. This deal is in fact a bundle.
50$ gets you two things( or is supposed to)

Lastly, I asked you to prove that what I was saying was incorrect, that you are not supposed to get both the core and base game for 50$ based on the information provided from the main sale page and the FAQ.

No it doesnt, go read the forum post. The only thing that can be argued at this point is the information isnt where its supposed to be.

In which twisted universe and under what circumstances is it mandatory to go scour for information on your purchase to some other forum? Legally, all information must be included in the shop, because THAT creates the legal agreement between buyer and seller. Not a forum, not a fanpage and definitely not a caveat emptor asterisk notice buried under 5 pages of shouting forum people.

If that is not the case, it is a mistake and until corrected, it must not and cannot be called valid customer treatment. Sorry if you graduated some sort of weird school of thought, but that is how it is. Intent doesn’t count in this case, what is written is set in stone.

Changer the Elder.2948

It’s not “entitlement” players just don’t want to spend more to get the base game they’ve already had for 2+ years. That’s it.

BTW, I bought the ultimate edition and I still think there are many valid criticisms about the price.

Your not spending more for the core game, HoT is 50 dollars.

Then why isn’t the base game separate just like they said when the initial FAQ came out? You are not just getting HOT, you are getting the base game and HOT.

They didnt, they said you needed the core game to play HoT. Its called a core game for a reason.

But what of other people? Not everyone’s a veteran of three years, some bought the game a month ago, under the influence of the original FAQ that said, verbatim, “core game is required to run the expansion.” They bought core game awaiting the expansion, and now they’re told “Well, suckers, you should have waited, now you can buy it AGAIN.” These players didn’t “experience the content veterans got,” they didn’t get “three years of free gaming.” They pay up again and for nothing. And it doesn’t matter if they paid 10 €uro, 20 €uro, or 2 cents. It’s wrong no matter the number, because it’s wrong on principle.
