If they want to make low level characters more viable they should have access to key traits in these levels. Why would I bring an Ele if he can’t give me Fury? (for example)

I’d rather take a character with me that fills his role and hits like a wet noodle instead of having one that has comparable DPS but has only that. I’m fine with damage nerfs as long as they actually change something instead of just making things slower. FGS nerf/fix was a net damage nerf but it changed the way you play, that was a good thing.

And like I said it wouldn’t be that bad if only Power scaled differently but by changing Precision as well you are basicly forced to run Precision signet on all professions that can.

From what I know SE and upwards didn’t get hit by the nerf very hard (2% or less) so I think those don’t have to be reset. AC and CM definitly need a reset, I guess TA could be up to debate but there are no current records in TA.

A full reset would be strange, there is no justification for wiping fractal records or Arah.

@Stability: the only dungeon record where stability plays a huge role at the moment is SE p2 and I don’t know enough about it to make a definit statement. Other than that the replacement is good enough to serve its purpose.

and for the stab I’m mainly just thinking of the troll if people have to dodge now… probably not, but just a thought.

You always want to dodge the Trolls autoattack since it’s a bouncing projectile that inflicts weakness. It’s also unblockable (thanks Anet). For the fear you can still use the new stability.

After testing Tom in uncat fractal on lvl 10 made decision that his hitbox is a bit smaller now and poison hits harder

I had a similar feeling in Aetherpath today, the tar field ticks seemed to be more dangerous. On the other hand I haven’t done Aetherpath in a while and we just might have sucked :x

Yes, prolonging content by reducing everyone’s effectiveness sure is fun.

It is not prolonging. It is fixing a old bug with scaling giving players higher stats than they should have.

Omg it will make speed runs take +5 seconds killing mobs. Unaceptable…

I think you are missing the point. Even with those changes AC bosses die really fast, so you don’t have to pay more attention, play better or anything. So all it does is make fights longer while not adding anything strategy-wise. Which is a pretty stupid concept, even if it was just a “bug-fix”.

On another note, precision is scaled as well. And pretty horribly at that. A warrior has in AC 39% crit-chance and if you swap in Signer of Fury you get to 57%.

To be honest, this doesn’t really sound like new stuff coming up but rather them changing the old stuff. And he did avoid the aspect of group size, so I’d guess they are talking about open world challenges? I don’t know, maybe I am missing something but it does not sound like instanced content to me :/

If you are not going for a speedkill you can pre-dodge it, lupi attacks about every 3 seconds and he usually doesn’t kick twice in a row.

Since 95% of cutscenes are just two faces talking to each other, I don’t think it’s far fetched to think that ANet does not care about cutscenes in the story dungeons. If they want me to watch cut-scenes they have to remove the skip button à la Aetherpath. And many people dislike it for that reason.

Also, whether the kicking people were in the majority or not does not matter. If you don’t have respect for the wishes of your party… well, don’t expect them to keep you around. It is group content after all

no offense intended, and it isnt everyone, but the fact that more than half the people in a thread were supporting kicking people for watching cutscenes during a story dungeon (which means its unlikely it was advertised as speed run) Heck even the guy who is supposed to be your representitive to anet said that kicking people for watching cutscenes in a story dungeon, which by the way is intended to be for story, and has less rewards than other dungeons for this purpose, is perfectly cool.

You forgot to mention that the OP in that thread was specificly asked by his party to stop watching cutscenes. Since he kept doing that he fully deserved to be kicked.

The fact that they kicked him at the endboss is a bad thing and no one in that thread supported it either. But not following what your party wants you to do? Yes, you indeed deserve to be kicked.

Something unusual: I don’t trust pug staff eles. In theory the playstyle is very simple but you’ll find 99% of those pugs to camp water attunement.

And I don’t trust pug thiefs in general, somehow they spam Pistol Whip when they are supposed to use Black Powder… which makes surviving difficult :P Also they somehow never stealth the party and if they do it’s with SR.

Confusion already dealt more damage in PvE :P Not sure by how much tho

@might: Doesn’t seem like it will have a huge impact in PvE, 125 power is quite negligable, considering most of the time in dungeons is spent skipping (or timegates :/) and not actually fighting. Does not warrant a reset in itself to me, but maybe the other balance changes will be impactful enough.

It does get Defiance so we assumed it would also trigger Tempest Defense

Your thief loves his Signet of Shadows, does he?

Before the turrets, you can place your SR right on the Fire Field and it will still stack Might and you don’t have to wait in the SR for that long afterwards. At the three elites before the endboss you don’t have to Daggerstorm, just cast a Pistol 5 and do normal DPS rotations.

We also use a different skip to the endboss, but I guess that’s a matter of taste.

why do i always get the stupid pugs?

guardian with 15k hp in cof. joined my lfg that said dps zerk meta only with foods and potions or kicked. they joined, did not use food and potions by the slave driver and then complained because they got kicked.

Dungeons are too rewarding for such easy content. They inject way too much gold into the economy. If dungeons need anything is a nerf in the gold per hour. Either reducing the gold or using mechanics to make them longer.

What do you think should be the most rewarding content then? Certainly not open-world farming Silverwastes or something.

I would like this idea if they eliminated the problems some of the dungeon paths have.

Why does no one run SE p2? That’s not because reward/time sucks, that’s because the escort event bugs out half the time making you reset the path. Why does no one run Aetherpath? Of course I can speak solely for myself but the rewards/time are okay but it’s simply not fun. (Unskippable cutscenes, huge timegates, boring puzzles)

Other than that I like that more difficult paths (like HotW) would get a better reward than easier ones (like AC).

I’m totally with you Nevets, I think you summed up what i was trying to say earlier very well too.

The only example I have from a game though is back in EQ we had a few discussions and a ton of parsing to find some options were within the margin of error of our testing (we had very nasty math in that game so all testing was done through parsing… and extensive parsing, 6hours minimum to be considered valid and even then there were variances, the error I was referring to).

I’d argue that there are optimal setups, of course there are going to be things better than others, but it doesn’t have to be one, it could be multiple, likely, no, but possible.

I’d add to that, what’s the point of that discussion? How often are people running optimal? Does everyone run 2 mesmer 2 ele 1 war in SEp1 now that they set the record with that? I doubt it.

Now of course everything is going to be glass gear, because the content allows it, but there is diversity and min/maxing in this game through the other aspects. I think it’s a far more fruitful and entertaining discussion to try and min/max for given situations. Learning tradeoffs and making those decisions to best accomplish a goal is what’s fun.

There are enough intangible variables in the game that arguing about on paper optimization just seems silly to me. And blinding yourself to alternate options just because someone sets a new bar also seems silly.

Props again to all 3 of those teams in the recent SEp1 race, they demonstrated the diversity of the game pretty well as far as I’m concerned. 3 different compositions all racing for the best time and it was a pretty tight race.

Your bringing up that not all dungeons use the same build set up as the record breaker does not invalidate that they likely had the most optimal set up discovered.

Just because there is the most perfect optimal set up does not mean that players are required to use it. There are sub-optimal builds that are perfectly capable of completing the content. Some more optimal than others.

And I would bet that a good portion of what made them have the best record comes down to luck and skill rather than their just their build set. Meaning it would take them specifically to reach the optimal conditions because no one else will have the same ratio of skill levels present. Of course luck is in a perpetual state of change so no one ever always runs at the most optimal conditions. Something always is against the optimal most times.

Just to let you know, we knew that SC was going to run double mesmer. But it required them tons of resetting, because Tazza and Kaeyi are a pain with two Mesmers, doing that in a daily run does not pay off.

Using 1 war, 1 mes, 3 ele is more conveniant than that. And 1 war, 1 mes, 1 guard, 2 ele makes Tazza almost a breeze. So the “meta” in this path is about how much DPS/time advantage you are willing to sacrifice for safety. 1 war, 2 mes, 2 ele was the riskiest and afaik SC took about 7 hours of resetting to get it done. Props to them for that, but it wouldn’t be a viable option in a daily run.

The thing I don’t get, when this is suggested is: why would I need Vitality if I have more dodges? And thus it becomes a worthless stat in itself.

If you look up the guild in my signature and/or click the link in my signature I think you can guess that I count myself amongst the best PvE players. I am surely not on a perfect level, I make a lot of mistakes especially after a long day.

For people in glass gear I’d say it’s the same if they spent equal time in the content. At the start it’s harder and if they aren’t (for example) experienced in Arah or HotW then I’d say Silverwastes is harder for them in comparison to these dungeons.
In my opinion most hard hitting animations are obvious enough that you can dodge them with mediocre reflexes. And due to that it becomes mainly a matter of experience instead of pure skill.
Exceptions are bosses that are really small where you can’t see anything due to skill effects.
