well u are on jq…sooo erm i see u guys out with 50to 60 man zergs on each map. if u dont want queues then might wanna switch servers. increasing the map cap would cause servers like u to steamroll every map in less than 10 minutes, where is the fun in that?
30-40 man groups would be more accurate. I’ve spent a lot of time fighting JQ, and they rarely roll with more than that outside of SEA time.
However, I do agree that increasing map caps would be a bad idea just because the maps are way too small and easy to move from point A to point B.

The more you guys hammer on “bads”, “fair weathers”, and “pugs”, the smaller your community becomes.
PERSONAL OPINION FOLLOWS
“Fair Weathers” – Absolutely nothing wrong with this group. Some people just like to get the most out of the time they play the game. If someone doesn’t have fun fighting an uphill battle, I have no issues if they choose not to play WVW. I think some people who constantly play WVW feel some sort of entitlement that they should not have to wait to play while they’re winning because they were going to play reguardless. Same goes for PVE Map Completionists. Gotta do what you gotta do to be happy with the game.
“Pugs” – Again, nothing inherently wrong with NOT wanting to join a particular guild to do WvW with. Some people just like being able to follow whoever they want, play on any map at any time, or play their way instead of being bottlenecked into a certain spec just to be in a guild.
“Bads” – This is a term I don’t personally use, simply because you don’t know the other player. Its most likely this player is new to the game or new to WVW and doesn’t really know what’s going on. There’s nothing wrong with being new. In most cases, all they need is someone to explain to them what’s going on and how to be helpful in WvW and they’ll either fall in line, or they won’t. I’m hard pressed to tell anyone how they SHOULD play the game, however I’m more than willing to tell someone how to play the game and get the rewards they want out of it.

Some people feel they accomplish greatness when they manage to outblob another and chest thumping happens. I’m sure these are 5-10 year old kids, or perhaps their brains are around that age???
In my line of work, I meet a lot of people. One thing I’ve noticed over time is that some people are just very childish.

PVE map completionists, LOTS of new transfers, or an extreme case of “Fairweather Syndrome”. Only reasonable explanations.
Its morale/fair weather. JQ doesn’t not have a population, and they have a fairly sizable NA, its just that they disappear with about the same speed as paper keeps. The number of “hard core” WvW guilds on NA JQ is low, the population isn’t.
I would tend to agree that JQ does have a lot of WVW PLAYERS but lacks WVW GUILDS. However, I’ve guested to JQ on a number of occasions and you have a booming PVE population that is at least twice that of SoR’s! Overall, JQ is probably the most balanced server when it comes to a healthy PVE and WvW population. Not a terrible place to be for those interested in multiple aspects of the game.
I can think of at least 20 other servers with healthy pve and wvw populations, relative to their tier.
Right on. I was more thinking in relation to JQ/BG/SoR/TC/DB/FA, however I do understand that not everyone likes to play WvW OR PVE like it is on the more populated servers. +1 for good point.
tsym.enjin.com
Are the guilds in JQ desperate to be T1 champs again? Because I don’t think JQ is the right server to achieve it with. The fairweather population is just too obscenely high.
The same can be said about any server. When they’re winning or can manage to outblob another, everyone will show up acting like they’re just that good. Even large guilds are no different. When the going gets tough, they’ll run to another server. Ask any of the servers that fell out of favor. They lose guilds once they are no longer dominating.
Actually, it’s server politics and BS drama that caused servers like SoS and HoD to fall.

Is anyone else shocked by the lack of posts in this matchup thread this week? I sure am.
I don’t mean this in a bad way, but I think it is because many SoR have already settled for second.
I missed the days when SoR and BG were within 3-5k of eachother mid week.
I would have honestly been surprised if we won this week, and I think the feeling is pretty mutual among most level headed people over here. Those weeks where the matchup was decided Thursday night/Friday before reset were awesome. I could do matches like those for years!
Not a big deal, everyone’s always gunning for that number one spot! Its inevitable that someone else snags it eventually!

well anet should make arena matches for 10vs10 or little more
that way u wouldnt make a queue for others
10-40 in increments of 5 would make EVERY guild that GVGs happy.

I’d rather make defending towers be of statistical advantage, rather than a gold farm.
How would 1-2 silver on a 5 minute timer (for argument’s sake) be a gold farm? that would net you a whopping 20-40 silver an hour. Compare that to farming events in Queensdale, or even event timers and that’s nothing. However it is something to reward people who are willing to keep an eye on a tower or keep.

Hi I’m on TC. I’ve been on TC for a long time now. I’m sick of the stupid lagfest 80+ sized zergballs in T1. I like being able to use a skill other than 1. Please shove JQ back to T1 with the others that apparently enjoy this rubbish. They need to be quarantined and kept away from the general population to prevent the further spread of this. Thanks.
Interesting analysis, however I happen to know that a lot of T1 guilds run fairly complicated builds and a “skill 1 spam” would end up with you being a loot bag on the floor. A more accurate number as far as group size is concerned would be 30-50. It’s pretty rare outside of karma trains or multiple forces combining to take a well defended target to see 60+ players in a single group.
If your guild or a commander you follow is suggesting that you just stand there and spam “1”, I suggest finding a new guild or commander to follow.
T1 NA often lags to the point to where you can’t use any skill other than 1… even if you’re away from the fight. That’s what I’m referring to.
Often? I rarely see lag unless there’s a 3 way keep battle or I’m on EB (hate that map). If this happens to you all the time, I would suggest looking into a better internet connection. However it could just be your geolocation in relation to the ANET servers.

I would recommend restarting the client if this happens. Other than that, I can’t think of much else you can do

Currently a lot of WvW revolves around capping paper towers, moving on, capping the next tower, etc. while another realm backcaps behind, because capping is better exp than defending. The rewards for defending should be upped IMO, and defending should be made less “boring”. Have random events inside towers, stuff as simple as harpies flying in and attacking, or dredge tunneling in, rats infesting, etc. Right now the incentive for going around capping is way better than the incentives for defending towers.
Oh god no. The last thing we need is more PVE in WVW. Guards/keep lords are enough.
EDIT: It would be better to just add some reward on a timer, like a silver piece or two and a hundred karma or so. However it would have to be small enough so it wouldn’t be abused by people mass AFK—.—ing (stupid censor) in towers/keeps.

I’ve heard of this happening to a few people. Unfortunately there just isn’t much you can do about it other than be resurrected by a kind person, or waypoint to your keep/spawn.
SPECULATION: During the lag, the enemy zerg probably rolled over you. No shame in that, especially if you can’t see what the hell is going on.
EDIT: MORE SPECULATION: The reason the combat log didn’t pick anything up is perhaps because the combat log for each player is compiled locally, rather than on the server. Because on your end “nothing” happened, your combat log didn’t indicate anything, but the server sent the message to your client that you were dead, so you died.*
- *I rarely, if ever check my combat log. So really, I have no clue how it really works

JQ is not a tier 1 server. Only reason they are even in T2 is because of that SEA coverage. TC is superior to them.
JQ > TC. TC got crushed when they played against JQ.
JQ SEA is beastmode. TC lacks SEA. From what I remember from MOS, timezones TC have a good number in the scores were pretty darn close. It makes a huge difference in the final score if ANY server can take stuff that’s relatively undefended and hold it for several hours without anyone trying to get the points back.

Sadly I wasn’t participating (stuck at work), however I will pass along the word to the rest of the guild that you guys had a good time. Most of TSYM hover in our guild forums rather than around here, if they participate in forums.

Agreed, there are tiers, look at leaderboards, it says Jade Quarry Tier – 2. I support the poster, JQ Is definatly t1 server, look at the total wins and I think the next match of T1 BETTER BE JQ/SoR/BG.
We don’t need more of that. It would be FAR more productive if we could get something like:
BG/JQ/X or SoR/JQ/X
the X’s not being SoR or BG, relatively.
At this point we need to know where JQ stands as far as being a top 3 server. They PROBABLY fit the bill just fine, but it would be interesting to see how that goes. If it’s BG/SoR/JQ, it’ll just be the same thing it’s been with TC and DB. BG and SoR dominate the match, while the other is just kind of there.
tsym.enjin.com
We are the best, we are number one, we are a special snowflake.
Wow, this is how Blackgate recruits?
They’re used to recruiting servers, not individuals
All joking aside, he’s actually spot on with his analysis of BG, however during EU primetime, about the only guild that doesn’t tag up nearly all the time is IRON, other than that there are still plenty of tags to follow on SoR.
tsym.enjin.com
Out of curiosity Achilles, how is JQ? I have heard good things, but I have also heard bad things from the “no skill, spam 1” crowd.
People say that about all of the top rated servers. I wouldn’t take it to heart, if you’re really curious about how a server is in WvW it’s BEST to experience it for yourself. JQ does have a lot of talent. I have seen first hand what a lot of those guilds can do.
If you’re looking to have a group to play with EVERYDAY according to that schedule, you’ll want to make sure you find a server with a decent European population. It seems that you would be logging on during or towards the end of their primetime nearly everyday, and finishing up right as most of the east coast guilds do.
Best of luck finding a new home.

that 200 000man RISE zerg…..
Fun fact about RISE that seems to go unnoticed, we don’t have 200,000 members. We also had 35 people on for reset tonight.
Guild cap is only 500 anyway… And there are only a few guilds who have sister-guilds under same leadership. GSCH being the only one that I can think of off the top of my head. On top of that BG is anything like SoR on reset night (and I’m sure it’s more similar than it is different), you’re lucky to get 35 players in anyway..
One of the many reasons there are starting to be quite a few guilds sitting out on reset night.

All these transfers are KILLING servers or making certain servers sooooo lopsided because they are “paying” for guilds from other servers to transfer. Big guilds come down to my tier all the time and swoop out hundreds of people and it’s making me HATE this game! They need to make transfers cost REAL $ like $20 PER transfer like warcraft did, not gold/gems. This would atleast make it less common in my opinion.
I have one question: If hundreds of people (and I have my doubts about the accuracy of this number) are so easily swayed by these big guilds to transfer servers, what does that tell you about the pride that they had in their server? Or even the pride they had in the guilds they were previously with?
Once you’ve answered that question, I’d like you to consider this:
Is that the type of player you even WANT in your guild or on your server?

TC will adopt. Everyone has to start somewhere. All servers eventually stabilize and will fit their proper bracket.
I just hope the RNG gods grants us good tidings. <3
I’m sure they will. Both TC and DB just need time to adapt to the strategies BG/SOR/JQ have and we’ll be seeing good matchups in the top two matches every week!

Courier speed is a 50% movement speed increase and doesn’t stack with Swiftness.
Does that mean if I’m carrying supply I run with 50% movement increase? No matter what? Whereas swiftness is 33%? Does this apply in and out of combat as well?
It sounds as if Courier Swiftness is a short-term, temporary buff that is applied when you grab supply out of a camp/tower/keep. I highly doubt that they’d give a 50% permanent speed boost increase just for HOLDING supply.
I wonder if boon duration will add to this short duration speed boost /ponder
I was wondering the same. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Tuesday brings us!
See you on the field Fuzz!

Is it one player? Or a group?
Not to condone or defend these actions, but I have seen commanders ask their force to /wave, /dance, /sleep, etc. So if it was a large group, it may have just been one of those instances.
It was one player while we were taking back our Garrison on TCBL. SoR Veteran. Didn’t see his tag, so I don’t know what guild. He kept spamming surprised.
It was really annoying, especially because it makes it hard for militia who aren’t in VoIP and don’t know better to see what the commander is saying. Whatever, though. We took it back anyway.
I’m not sure if this would be the solution for every player, but it would certainly help those relying on chat commands to do their job. You could ask them to turn off emotes in their chat. Although I’m always in VOIP, I still have them turned off just so I don’t have to put up with emote spamming trolls.

Clock man, stop taking everything personally, not defending, but his statement there was towards in general, the image SoR tried to build for themselves which, all the recent posts and focus on GvG and guilds specific with complete disregard and no respect to the rest of the “non-guilded” server as a whole.
I feel like I have to question what he was writing. He stated that I was trying to disassociate myself from SoR as a server, and that’s not the case.
It seems that people like taking what a handful of individuals write and considering it to be an “Official SoR Server Announcement,” when it’s the opinion of an individual or a small group of people.
This trend of blowing people’s words out of proportion needs to end, no matter what guild the person(s) are a member of.
If you are looking for “Official” guild/server statements, this is the wrong place to look.

I thought after LAST WEEK’S TRAINING, SoR would win with like 300-350K this week. What happened? People weren’t attentive or slacking off during the training?
Meh, they were just repeating what was said in the server meeting on the reset night before that…
… and probably grasping at straws to mend broken egos.
You must be new here, or you would have seen a similar pattern (of excuses) for pretty much every server who at one point was ranked #1.
Sorry i should have used the /s tag at the end.

Meh, even still there seems to be a lot of people on BG/JQ/[non-SOR server] that keep bringing up or poking fun at things like “We aren’t playing for PPT” and “This is a training week.” I think it’s hilarious that people ON SOR are using these things as excuses when in fact they are taking these small phrases grossly out of context. All they are doing is providing people on other servers with MASSIVE troll bate for weeks on end.
EVERY GUILD should be constantly training. NO WEEK should specifically be a “training week”. That goes for every server. If you’re not learning from what you see on the field, you’re falling behind.
EVERYONE should be playing for fun, and not get super stressed over PPT. That just makes it less of a game, and more of a job.

This was the entire point of my post. Tell your people to respect your opponents better. You lost a week, get over it. Don’t dilute other people’s efforts (including your own server’s militia) with lame comments like “we were on training”, “we don’t play for PPT”. Even as i was writing, a brave warrior from SoR comes with “BG were overbooked” and had the same people playing again and again. So being more consistent is a bad thing now lol? Gokitten it, BG people, stop playing so much.
My people? I see maybe one or two TSYM posting here occasionally. If you have a legitimate issue with a specific person in TSYM, let me know and I can make sure that the proper people are notified and that person is talked to.
If you want me to be a babysitter for everyone on SoR, you’re talking to the wrong guy.
Wasn’t SoR’s motto always like “We are a tight-knit social community” with stuff like family, etc. Now suddenly, you don’t want to be associated with the server as a whole?
Can you specifically point out where I said that?
If you have a problem with how certain people are acting or talking to you, bring it up with their guild. That’s the best and easiest way to do it. There’s a difference between being a “tight-knit social community” as YOU put it, and having someone who has no authority over another guild/person (me in this case) tell another person who is in no way associated with me other than being on the same server how to act and behave on the internet. I can sit here all day and tell everyone to stop trolling and be nice to eachother and I guarantee you that nothing will change because I have ZERO authority over them.

I think they are free to medium pop and lower severs. but if you want to be on a top wvw server without doing the work to get there you have to pay.
There are no free server transfers. There was an event for like a few days that it was free to medium pop or lower but that was very brief and I’m not sure whether it helped or hurt the targeted servers.
Yes there was such event but:
1) transfers are only because of WvW, PvE has guesting
2) transfers were based on PvE population, not WvW population
3) some servers with high PvE population and low WvW population were not included in free transfersAnd I hate that because I am on one of those servers with high PvE and low WvW population.
You left out that a lot of WvW focused guilds are unlikely to transfer to a server with a low WvW population.
The one’s that do often times do it for the wrong reasons.

Hi,
If you round out your team/guild/whatever you run with, conditions shouldn’t be that big of a deal, or at least be tolerable. If you HAVE to use as many condition removals as your class allows, I would recommend looking into Melandru runes and lemongrass foods.
Best of luck,
