How quickly people forget! SoR did not come out to play when JQ had Red Guard butchering everyone! SoR has fair-weather players just like anyone else.
I think a lot of us were busy deconstructing the strategy and trying to counter it, which is why AGG is less and less effective each day…
I’m not denying that SoR doesn’t have fair-weather players, every server does, but what do you really expect to happen? Some guilds aren’t going to stand out there and wipe 100 times until they figure it out, they’ll wipe a couple of times and then take it to the drawing board…

I would much rather have them give thieves a perma-stealth utility (similar to rouges in WoW), bump up the revealed time, and have them de-stealth when they’re hit.

Meh, I don’t really understand all this hate for AGG that’s going on right now… They have a nice strat that surely creates lots of bags for them. Either counter it, or ALT-F4. TSYM has had loads of fun with AGG, that’s for sure.

Does every FEAR commander build an AC every 10 steps while pushing into towers/keeps with map zergs? I know you have “special” arrow cart users with “special” abilities, but dang.

Those Guardians saying they can beat thieves easily have never played competent Larcenous Strike thieves.
Actually i have some great fraps i should upload of thieves being annoying, like 1 thief seriously followed us(2 Guardians taking camps) for 5-10 minutes hitting us then stealthing, dood just wouldnt let go.
Persistent thieves like that are kind of annoying… fortunately, those are few and far between…

Many times I’ve found myself alone in a full-supply, no-siege tower with a zerg beating on the gate. Usually by the time I can get an arrow cart up, the gate is already at 50% or less. This will help immensely. Woo.
And the 50man zerg can build Superior Rams even quicker than before.
Yet another example of their mechanics being in favour of the zergs not against.
If you exclusively run with a 50 man zerg, these are the LAST trait lines you should even look at… These benefit small ops (VTAC, Havoc groups) FAR, FAR more than zergs…

Does it seem like a lot of the new Rallians are hesitant to hop on the server TS? Every time I’ve been in a map that tsym is on, it seems like its pretty much just tsym and a couple of other people in different guilds in the TS, but when I look at my game screen there are a ton of people who are notably absent…

Sorry, I don’t call that ‘half-way decent’, I call it kitten stupid. If the number of the server means that much to you, you have a serious problem.
You may as well go out and get a second job – at least you get paid for it.
Like I said, a good commander will rotate people in and out of who sits in a tower, runs yaks, or whatever. Believe it or not there are people who actually enjoy doing this stuff too.
I can’t say that I know whakittens like on your server, or playing against the servers that you do, but I can guarantee you that if JQ or BG just flipped stuff and left it completely undefended it would just turn right back over to whoever they took it from as soon as the 5 minute buff wore off the lord/supervisor. If they left a bunch of yaks to roam without some kind of guard or defense, all we would have to do is have a single player run around and kill yaks all night until they’re so supply starved they can’t defend a single point and push them off the map.
Its called teamwork. You have to work together to do well WvW. If everyone simply herded together on a single map you would accomplish very little, not to mention your keeps would be paper for an entire week.

I’m not sure how what server you are on, but there are several important roles that can be played in WvW aside from following a large group.
For example:
- Tower defense: If you plan on keeping anything, especially during primetime, you need people to man siege to keep groups from capping locations, and keep towers/keeps under siege repaired.
- Scouts: Your commander(s) preform a hell of a lot better if you have at least one scout per large group of enemies to keep them informed of enemy movement. Especially if you want to optimize ppt on a map.
- Runners: People to run yaks to make sure they get to each tower so you don’t get low on supply.
There are a few more, but hopefully this provides you with a couple of roles other than just following the zerg. The main thing is that all of these roles need to have good communication with their commander/guild. If you’re the guy in a PVE guild who just hops into WVW occasionally, you might not notice these roles, but if you’re in a halfway decent wvw guild your commander(s) should be stressing the importance of these roles in the overall scheme of running a map.
If you’ve noticed with the new matchup system, a lot of the lower ranked servers are getting facerolled by the #1,2,3 and this is exactly why. Top notch servers have people in every tower they plan on keeping and they have several scouts per map to keep track of the enemy’s movements.
Ideally, there should be at least 2 groups running a single map and only combine forces for large ventures (like taking a keep). One group should be responding to already owned territory, while the other should be putting pressure on the other two servers by forcing them to stay in their corners by taking their stuff.
Note: Not all of these are “fun” and a lot of people don’t like doing this. Loot isn’t always the best, but they are important positions for any server. If you are a commander and reading this, make sure you switch your guys out on tower/keep duty regularly, don’t leave someone in a tower and expect them to be there all night.

Ah Clockradio I wish our TC zerg was 70-70+ the last two nights. In reality though, our zerg has seldom reached 60 players we have mostly been around 50-60 during fights. I think various reasons contributed to that. The highest count I had against you guys stacked up was 61, but generally. 55-57 was the number. Either way fun times and thanks for your positive remarks of our Guild [RE]

In fairness, I think it can be interpreted differently; either as “Oh, you’re not good enough for us and are a waste of our time” or as “We’re going to pull back a little bit so that everyone in the matchup can enjoy themselves”.
You can’t win either way though, I guess. I think everyone’s doing a really good job at keeping the thread positive and upbeat. Reminds me of the BG/KN/TC days.
We’re both (tc and sor) losing rating this week anyway, or gaining a poultry sum at best, so I think that everyone from those servers should just enjoy the ride this week and hope for a matchup where you’re not digging yourself out of a rating hole next week… It doesn’t matter that some on SoR claim to be “holding back” or that one of our heavy hitting wvw guilds “temporarily” transferred to JQ. Every time I’m on the field I don’t see anyone saying that they feel bad for TC and SoS, they’re doing their best to kick some butt. You guys should do the same.

It’s still impressive that they can get so many people to cooperate like that. If you aren’t winning and handing them easy bags, WvWers on TC won’t typically won’t cooperate with anything. They’d rather go off and tie up queue space dueling, rping, and doing other random stuff.

Yup I am. It’s an awesome server, but trying to get people to cooperate can be pretty frustrating at times. Particularly on TCBL.

There are plenty of times SoR commanders will be calling for people and they just run off and play shoot it out with people on a tower then get run over by a zerg while standing in arrowcart fire =D
With people in teamspeak this is less of an issue but you can usually tell who is not in teamspeak cuz they are the blue arrows the enemy train just ran over.I never said it was isolated to TC. SOR is just better at getting around it, thus the 70-90 man zergs they s how up with.

Haha, yep. Average, not including reset night, Rallians prefer to roam in 20-40 man groups. If we had 70-90 man zergs on each map, SoS nor TC would have a single keep.

The problem is neither TC nor SoS have any free bodies to spare with SoR’s numbers and constant pressure.
In this match it’s easy for [Choo] to pull 15-20 people out of the fight (hell you guys could take the whole week off) and it won’t much impact your effectiveness on the field but TC and SoS simply can’t afford to do that.
You can say “well everything’s decided” and “points don’t matter” but at least from TC’s perspective nobody likes to see our BL overrun while one of our guilds was circle-jerking (no offense) in a meaningless fight.
I think that there is one thing that you and everyone else who is refusing to GVG [CHOO] and other guilds doesn’t understand:
In the past, GVG in T1 has been a huge spectacle. If you GVG [CHOO] or any other guild, pretty much EVERYONE in that guild, plus spectators from other guild are taken off maps and often put maps into queue Unless someone tries to flip a fully upgraded keep or garri, they all stay and watch. Essentially it can lighten the load for your guys on other maps.
Also, they seem to use similar, if not identical tactics in GVG as they do open world fights, so it will allow your commanders to observer what the main force of that guild does in the larger zergs filled with other Rallians.
Basically, don’t think of GVG as worthless, or purely entertainment. Use it as a training tool to train your regular WVW players. It will make your guild better overall and save you supply from having to build ridiculous amounts of siege to counter our forces in the field.
