Hi,
Shouldn’t perfect inscriptions lower the cooldown of wrath of justice?
It doesnt do it at the moment. Is this a bug?
Both of the traits can be found here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Radiance
New system all the way.
Different builds actually feel different now. For example power medi guard used to have at lest 4 possible builds (21614, 01616, 00646, 01625) and they all had the same core and then picked whatever traits they want with it like stabi, damage to burning dudes, rezz shield. But in the end no matter what you picked you actually where basicly the same build as the others.
Now as a medi guard you have less choices, you take Valor + Virtue basically always and your choice is to take either Zeal for damage buffs or Radiance for improved f1 + one hander skills. Whatever traitline you take your build will feel a lot different because of all the minor traits you get or lose.
So less possible trait combinations, more actual builds that are different.
This bug still remains.
Hi,
When equipped with runes of the trapper and using Healing Spring I don’t get stealth. Is this a bug?

Hello!
Guardian has really massive bug going on. It is the biggest and most abusive skill related bug there has ever been.
Guardian skills that give boons to allies don’t have any limits how many allies they affect.
- Empower gives might to over 20 dudes
- Quickness shout gives quickness to over 20 dudes
How this affects game?
- World bosses are dropping really fast when people have permanent might/quickness/fury
- Buffs run rampant in wvw destroying balance
Is this just a guardian thing?
- Warrior shouts only give boons to 5 ppl
- Elementalist spells only give to 5 ppl too
I dont know about other professions
Hi!
It seems that there is a really massive bug going on with the Guardians boons. They have no limit in how many targets they affect.
For example 1 guardian can give Empower or quickness shout for over 20 people. In worldbosses its possible for 5 guardians to give a permanent quickness for all allies in shout range and in wvw stability, might and quickness run rampant destroying all balance.
Other professions seem to be running normally. Warrior shouts still only affect 5 ppl and elementalist spells too.

Full exotic armor set gives you 315 main stat and 224 sencondary stats. This is from full armor. Now multiple with 1,3 to get what exotics give post patch. Then multiply with 1,1 to get what ascended gives.
If a dude wears full exo soldier gear and other dude wears full ascended soldier gear the ascended player would have like + 100 power, + 80 vitality + 80 toughness + 60 armor +5% power damage modifier.
Overall ascended dude would have ~ 5% more stats and +5% damage multiplayer on top of that.
Getting an ascended weapon and trinkets is simply a must do thing. If you leave out the armor you will be “only” 2 % behind or so.
I never said it was. Also the difference in power is 44.
So if a dude has full exo armors and his total power is say 2000. Another dude wears ascended gear his total power would be 2044.
2044/2000 = 1,022
Would this mean that by wearing ascended armor that gives 10% more power than exotic armor he would get 2,2% more power?
Your argument was that a 10% gain in base damage is a 5% increase. I just proved that wrong. Your “counter argument” is absolutely irrelevant.
That is not what I am saying. Your stats consist of more than just your gear! You have your base stat of 926 now and 1000 next patch. For example your power is actually
1000 base power + power gained from armor + power gained from other gear + power gained from elsewhere.
It has been said that ascended armor will give 10% more stats than exotic. I think that means it gives 40 primary stat more than exotic. So a dude with full exo zerker armor would have 40 power less than ascended dude.
Is + 40 power a 10% increase in total power? I say no.
3% ok…. that doesn’t really matter though because your statement is still flawed. Please prove that 5% crit chance is = 1/2 of 56%
If exo dude has full zerker exo armor and asc dude has full zerker armor too. And lets assume critical damage formula stays the same too. (crit change is calculated: Critical Chance = (Precision – 841.9664) / 21.0084)
From his armor asc dude gets ~30 more precision. At level 80 to gain 1% of critical change you need ~21 precision. With that you would get an additional 1,42 crit change.
That does feel, but its not the end of the game.
you forget the base armor which is a roughly a 4% gain in damage reduction, but ill forgive you.
Ascended dude is getting total of 60 additional armor rating from his armor compared to exotic. (Just the armor rating, not talking about toughness)
If exo dude has 2000 armor, asc dude has 2060 = 3% more
If exo dude has 3000 armor, asc dude has 3060 = 2% more
From what I have understood this stays the same. It is some difference, but not really that much.
Again this is what I expect the difference will be post patch:
Ascended armor vs Exotic armor
+60 armor rating
+40 main stat
+30 secondary stat
It is a difference, but its not that huge and it doesnt raise your total stats by 10%
10% is still 10%. What is 10% of 100 dollars? What is 10% of 1,000? That number is growing now, yeah? Let me ask you a question. How would you feel if I took away 10% of your speed? You would notice that I’m guessing.
WvW is a numbers game at the end of the day with population and wall clock coverage winning the day. Not so much skill in that. Easiest solution is to treat both PvP metas the same and let the PvE boys and girls have their stats to min/max.
Its not like that. Its more like
Each player has 1000 dollars.
Each player with exotic gets 1000 dollars more.
Players with ascended get 1000 and 10% bonus = 1100 dollars.
Exo players have 2000 dollars
Asc players have 2100 dollars
By gaining 10% more stats from ascended gear the player becomes 5% more powerful.
At the moment if a guy has full ascended armor he will gain from the armor
60 armor
14 major stat
11 minor stats
more than a guy with exotics.
If gear is going to be giving 30% more stats and ascended 10% more stats those numbers are going to change into something like
60 armor
40 major stat
30 minor stat
Math:
Exotic set gives now: 315 total major stats
Ascended set gives now: 329 total major stats
Exo set gives post patch 315*1,3 = 410
Ascended set gives post patch 410*1,1 = 451
Difference between exo’s and asc’s major stat 451-410 = 41.
From what i understood armour’s armor rating stays same.
Is that 40/30/+30 really that big?
This happenent:
1. You used rampage, it gives 3 stacks of stability every 3 s.
2. Somebody either ripped your stability or used 3cc at you.
3. There was a small window until next stabi pulse where you could get CC’d.
4. You got feared.
5. While you were still feared the rampage pulsed again, giving you stability. Stabi is not a stunbreak so jeah, you had stabi on and still you were feared.
Hehe it seems we have quite different experience in wvw. I have played wvw 2 years raiding with guild or roaming.
In big fights (20vs20) ect. Melee is the driving force of the fight. Their mission is to control enemy movement with damage, stuns and immobilizes. After the enemy is controlled the heavy artillery can land the big damages on them and take them down.
In addition of doing melee a warrior supports his group with warhorn and the Warbanner. Here is the first random youtube video I found of big group fights from warriors point of view. Watch this video and say melee is useless in big fights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ-qeSk5wcQ
Outside guild raids melee warriors can go do some solo or small group roaming. Melee warriors are fun to play and can do well against any profession. Take a look at this warrior solo roaming video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqgqtQxr5mU again it was first random video I found, but I think it shows that melee is a viable way to play in wvw.
As for the builds go in group play I mix soldier/knight and zerker to have max damage while having 3k armor and 27k hp. In roaming I take full zerker gear and bring survivability with traits and skills.
If asked “What profession you would rather take to your wvw group, a warrior or a ranger?” from any commander in my server they would all answer “Warrior”.
People die in spikes usually. Having this sigil would reduce your spike damage and it doesnt really save anyone from dying to massive burst damage. WvW guilds can already get to full hp on regroups with use of empowers and waters.
Ferious Winds - worst trait ever designed?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Hi,
This trait was not in beta. And when it was showed it was instantly said that these traits are not permanent.
In anime Bleach the “quincy” are humans who use spirit bows and shoot arrows made of energy. They have same color theme of white/blue that the guardians have.
:S I have never thought about that : S
.
.
.
What have I done to my dear pets? :S
Leave the person be, you pvp junkies. xD
Try out every weapon available, but I’d recommend Axe/axe or Greatsword + Rifle or Longbow, quite comfortable for pve. Also, buy a “Minor Sigil of Bloodlust and Minor Sigil of Fire” for your weapons, they will help with killing stuff more easily.where do i find these sigils?
This is a good question.
Best place to get anything in this game is the Trading Post (TP). You open the TP with default “O” key or icon on your top left screen.
From there you can browse weapons, sigils, armor, food, anything. You can retrieve the items you bought from any Black Lion Trading company outpost.
Make sure to update your weapons every 5 lvls or so. Don’t buy anything that is too expensive. With 5 silvers you should be able to get a nice green sword every 5 levels or so.
This is the damage that you do against a target whose armor value is same as your power value. These aren’t actual numbers you should be expecting to see in a fight.
This spreadsheet is a good tool for comparing skill damage. For example if you just look GS chain attack and sword chain attack ingame its hard to tell which one deals more damage. This should help in situations like that.
any tips on what i should start fights with? and when to i switch weapon? it feels a bit clunky and confusing right now =/
If you are using sword/axe + greatsword you could for example:
1. Start with GS 5 “Rush”.
2. Do GS 2 “100b”.
3. Do GS 3 “WW”
4. Do GS 4 “Toss GS”
5. Swap weapons.
6. Do Sword 2 “leap”
7. Do Axe 4 “Fury Axe”
8. Do Axe 5 “Spin FTW”
9. Do Sword 3 “Final thrust”
10. Do 3x sword 1.
11. Swap.
12. 100b
13. WW
14. Toss GS
15. Rush
Main idea is to make sure that you use every awesome skill as often as possible. It is so much faster to kill a dude with skills like 100b than it is with Basic attack.
Warrior/Ele pair! How cute is that? I am going to list few things I recommend you 2 try out:
Toys:
As an ele you can summon weapons. Most intresting of these is the “Ice Bow”. You summon 2 bows, 1 for yourself and 1 for any ally to pick up. This bow has insane damage skill (4) and great single target CC for bosses (5). Drop these toys around for your wife to pick up and tell her to try skill 5→4→3 and drop the bow. Its really fun and part of dungeon clearing meta: ) (warrior also has some “toys” that you could try if you are brave enough
Might stacking:
This is really a big part of metagame. By doing a blast combo into a firefield, you give 3 stacks of might to nearby allies. Warrior and ele can sure stack some sweet might with this! For example you go Ring of Fire→Stone Stomp→Ice Burst and your warrior wife uses warhorn 5 or hammer blast into the field. Each blast gives a might stack and each might stack is very roughly 1% damage increase for 20s.
Healing:
Best healing from elementalist comes from allies who blast the waterfields dropped by ele. Each blast heals ~1k at lvl 80.
Hi!
I have heard multiple rumours on upcoming stability change. First it was quickly explained on twich stream where devs are showing the revenant so we know its coming. Then there was reddit post by some dude who had met unnamed anet dev between some official events and talked to him. Now there is a Chinese patch note page on reddit than when translated tells that it is coming on next patch and has some details how much stabi each skill is going to provide.
Previously when there has been a small change into profession skills or boons (might) there has been a news announcement on GW 2 front page where the changes have been explained in detail. Every time something has been changed I have felt that I understand why the change has been made. For example when might boon was nerfed the explanation was that certain builds are able to benefit too much from it.
This has not been the case with stability changes. I do not understand why the change is coming and what it is meant to change. I can of course speculate that this update is meant for wvw fights, because in small pvp situations this change is not going to do much. But I still don’t understand that what is this change going to balance! Perhaps the purpose is to reduce stacking in wvw? I don’t know and to be honest instead of having to guess I would like to hear from somebody who designed this that what it is intended to do.
I need some mental stability.
I think taunt and confusion are good together. Keep the name.
Make a new event like sneak attack we had.
Event name: Skyhammer Test Complete
Rules: Whenever 40 players of the same alliance are within an area of 1200 units, now FULLY ARMED AND OPERATIONAL skyhammer battery keeps constantly firing skyhammer blasts to center of the group. Frequency of the blasts is 1Hz and they will only affect players of the team who triggered the cannon.
As a result of skyhammer test being complete the map would also be removed from SoloQ.
How did you beat condition thieves, meditation guardians, focus elementalists and condition rangers?
Also what do you think of matchup against thieves with panic strike? Or GS zerker warriors? Or those “kill shot” warriors?
Or did you just kick everybody’s kitten
Back in the dayz our guild used Tome of Courage aka “Book” in wvw. We usually had like 8 – 10 guardians in our wvw raid team and we had them to use books so that 2 books were active all the time. Looking back I am not really sure if the books where actually that good : D
Nowadays all guardians in wvw seem to run the renewed focus. It allows guardians to get away with running more damaging gear. It doenst really feel like an elite though, for example warrior’s Endure Pain has lower CD and you can still attack while not taking damage.
Other book, the Tome of Wrath is not really good. I only use it to give 50% more attack speed against tequila during the “damage phase”?
I agree with OP on first 2 specialization but I don’t see us getting oversized pets.
Hi!
I have few ideas here too:
Warpriest – Longbow
Supports allies with skills like Spirit Bow has. Skills include healing, condi cleanse and blinding opponents.
Zealot – Spear
Offensive spear skills made for dealing damage.
I have few ideas here:
Gunslinger – Pistol
As seen in the old concept art picture. Skills include evades and quick single target skills.
Arcane Fury – Axe
Chaotic skills and toss elemental energy all over the place. Example skill: Celestial Storm that deals damage from each element at the same time.
Mentalist – Sword
Based on Guild Wars elementalist skills Mind Blast, Mind Freeze, Mind Burn.
I got a few ideas. Here for starters:
Paragon with spear for support. Skills include shouts like “Victory Belongs to Me!” and “Brace yourselves”. Also ranged utility skill “Javelin Volley” or sotmehing like it.
Raider with mainhand torch. Brutal skills like headbutt, gasoline and fire, and maybe a shout like “I Am the Strongest!”
As far as I know Marjory didn’t get any new attacks in Seeds of Truth or Point of No Return. None of the trailers showed her using GS either. So the autoattack chain still remains the only teaser of greatsword skills in action revealed.
Good catch and call coinhead ; )
TY. Sometimes speculations miss and sometimes they hit the nail, this was one of those times it was a great success!
Hi!
The nerf is meant to hurt the hybrid builds who use both sides of might, the +35 power and + 35 condi. A greatsword warrior in dungeon barely feels the nerf as he loses only 125 power, but celestial D/D elementalist is losing a lot of power and condition damage.
I know that I am still going to keep stacking might in dungeons with my powerbuilds and I still keep stacking might with my condition engineer. But in pvp my celestial builds might not be as OP as they are now…
Aw jeah! I got what I wanted!
Hi!
Its one week to the release of the new living story episode. Last teaser we had was Rytlock Brimstone dressed as a slave cat and it was like 3 weeks ago! Also I suppose the spreading vines in Silverwaster’s Valley can be considered a sign of things to come. But that is also “old stuff”.
I need a teaser trailer where people smash plants and a voice tells that the end is coming or at least a picture where ppl are getting eaten by plants.
Most expensive exotic weapons can cost over one thousand gold and still have same stats as pearl weapons. In guild wars 2 most ppl consider looking good more important than having best stats. For example many ppl have build 1000 gold exotic good looking hammer instead of crafting ascended weapon and armor with more stats.
Event: “Iron Curtain”
Rules: “Gates cannot be damaged by players until gate hp reaches 33%” (gate’s skin would change at that point into the damaged one that you can see through a bit)
The events idea would be to make it more difficult to just destroy keep gates by attacking with 60 players and just hitting the door until its gone.
Earlier suggestion about aoe cap and downedstate isnt what Id like. I like downed state so much i feel weird and empty indide now when I play any other MMO which doest have it. Stomping and ressing is such a great mechanic.
Really cool idea! I would rather keep it as simple passive effect that boosts attack speed by 5-10%. It would basically be same as to increase party dps by that percent. Other traits with similjar effect are warrior’s Dual_Wield_Agility and empower allies. Dual wield agility can increase warrior attack speed by 10% and empower allies can increase party power by 5-10%
Fanaticism would be pve musthave and depending on the bonus % it could give spawn to new pvp or wvw builds.
I have been playing against servers who’s tactic is to have one huge group of players who always run together following one commander. Scouts are the most important part of this tactic. My server usually has 3 groups of 20 players or so in one border and they all hit a different objective at the same time. If the objective doesnt have a scout we flip it. If it does the scout can siege disable + ac us until the big group arrives and forces us to flee. Usually they have scouts and we lose.
Without scouts that tactic would never work. It didnt work without scouts even before white sword removal either for towers or paper keeps.
Scouts arr super important.
Wait, since it’ll be ppk and not ppt.. why would defending even matter anyway? Or will it be both ppk and ppt?
It will be both. Just like now some servers get half on their points from stomps and half frpm objectives.
I think that this effect puts more value on scouts and leads to players starting to reward scouts more and organize scouting better. Also i think that this will make upgrade waypoint really good.
Can anybody find other ingame examples of NPC using a weapon that doesn’t belong to their profession? …
Yes. On the giant statue fractal, the legendary at the bottom has a hammer, and it looks AWESOME! He has a three attack chain with the final attack dropping a well. He also has some pretty cool skills focused around wells. I don’t really remember all of the skills because it’s been a while since I did that fractal, but it looks awesome, if someone could link a video that would be sweet. It is literally the first boss you fight.
I searched youtube for cliffside fractals video. This is a video of some people clearing the entire fractal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0xFDBoR98w
In the beginning of the video they engage the legendary hammer dude. Video is good quality, but it is still difficult to see what attacks the boss exactly has, but it does give you pretty good idea what he has.
Legendary Archdiviner attacks:
- Basic hammer swing
- Warrior hammerstun
- Warrior hammer spin (skill #4) that relases deadshroud bolts or something.
- Channel attack where he holds the hammer and summons wells.
- Something like warrior hammer skill #5
I don’t see the three attack chain, but it might be because these dudes in the video don’t let him attack them too much. The animations he uses are borrowed mostly from warrior and maybe edited a bit. I don’t think he has such an unique attack as Marjory’s spinning chill attack of freezing death.
Thanks for newest living story episode “Tangled Paths”. It had everything that I wanted from LS and I played it once with every profession. What made it good:
- Fun boss fights, fights where not too fast or not too long ( about 2-5 mins maybe) and bosses actually were dangerous. I even went down few times as I got 1 shotted on my thief and smaked all over the place on my elementalist.
- I had to dodge, block, blind and heal to survive
- Good rewards (Black Lion Chest Keys)
- Parts where I had to listen to somebody else talk didn’t last too long.
- Cutscenes where skippable.
- Labyrinth was fun.
- Flamethrower (I really didn’t see this coming it was awesome)
- Good fights.
In other living stories I have often just gotten bored about killing an NPC that doesn’t deal any damage but takes ages to kill, for example the ghost guards in “The Echoes of the Past”. This time I actually got to play the game and that is actually what I want to do when I log in to Guild Wars 2. Against bosses I couldn’t just stand still and press 1, I had to actually run like a small cat and use skills like blocks and evades ect.
Can anybody find other ingame examples of NPC using a weapon that doesn’t belong to their profession? So far I only know Trehearne and Rytlock. As long as Marjory is the only NPC with unique weapon animation and effect I will keep my hope on new weapon skills up.
All I have to say is
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Torment
Can you explain a bit? I don’t see how torment has anything to do with this..
I talked today about this with a friends. Somebody mentioned that other NPC’s also get access to weapons outside of their professions. Examples they had were Trahearne and Rytlock Brimstone.
Here is my comparison of those 3 NPC and their GS moves:
Uses sword & pistol. Skills he uses are warrior sword 1, 2, 3 and thief pistol 4 and “pistol whip”. None of those skills have a new animation or are new skills.
Uses Caladbolg the magical sword. All sylvari get access to this weapon in story quest. Skill animations are I think all borrowed (I found this youtube video made by somebody else where he/she shows those skills https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0s1O7w995k). All skill effects are slightly different though.
Attacks use new animation (green smoke and spin on 3th attack) and they seem to be a new skill (chill on 3th attack).
I think that if this skill was to be used by one NPC, devs wouldn’t have made this new effect and new animation just for her. Instead they could have just used a borrowed animation.
When do I think we get the new weapon for professions then? Most likely not in a long time. They wouldn’t just give a weapon for one profession at one time and the update would be huge. It would be announced at least 1 month in advance and before release there would be many previews ect. I think it would be released in a feature pack like April&September feature packs. So maybe like next April… To be honest I have no idea.
