Stacking damage overtime/drift

Player model collision would also open doors to people griefing others by blocking access to places and events. There are spots where it would only take a few people moving strategically to block others from even entering events/attacking bosses.

Probably, but potential benefits of such feature are far outweigh it’s few shortcomings.

Rofl what? You seriously underestimate the prevalence and determination of trolls in online games. Not to think of players unconsciously creating problems with collision stuff.

It has been shown conclusively that the multipliers work multiplicatively. If you want to re-check it, go to the heart of the mists, get a steady weapon and play with the golems.

A guardian with scepter and with/without the scepter 10% trait and Unscathed Contender should be optimal for your purpose.

If content increased in difficulty, you would definitely see a greater demand for different specs in PvE. You might even get some greater team variety (though it’s nearly certain that a new best meta would solidify) because of the significant variety of roles and builds in GW2.

I think you would see something else first and foremost: An entire ocean of tears because the dungeons are impossible to complete, especially from the people who are right now calling for nerfs to the meta etc.

Crit dmg nerf is not -10%

since it is a universal nerf…. it will effect us all equally…

Nope. The nerf aimed at the berserker players, but rather hit those who wanted a somehow more defensive setup (non-berserker armor and berserker trinkets) straight in the face. I find the unintended consequences of crying for a berserker nerf quite amusing, to be honest.

Improving Condition Damage (Suggest/Discuss)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CptAurellian.9537

CptAurellian.9537

I do not think its a refusal to fix it its that it cant be fixed as in it would cause too much server lag. Ppl realty need to read up on these things that why there are caps on condition dmg of 25 due to how much a server can handle on one mob for pve. They explained the problem a few times and damming them not going to make it “fixed” any faster.

Didn’t it check for every single kittening tick of a condition how much condi damage you have at that moment? So it’s no surprise that the limit is 25 stacks, if so many resources need to be devoted for such a stupid task. The whole duration of a stack should simply be determined by condi damage on application, that would massively cut resource requirements and consequently free up space for more stacks.

Improving Condition Damage (Suggest/Discuss)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

CptAurellian.9537

Champion Husks at Evolved Wurm. Svanir boss in CoE. Both take full damage from conditions. Both take practically ZERO damage from “physical” attacks. Only one of them you can remove the armor from. And that’s just the two most relevant PvE situations that kinda take apart your opinion.
Also, a class that is specifically suited for condi SHOULD be overwriting the condi stacks of other players. If I’m in a party with a warrior while on my necro, my necro should be the one applying, and overwriting, the bleeds along with other conditions. Not some pansy warrior that bleeds something for 30 damage a stack.

Congratulations, you found the one exception from the rule, which is offered in PvE: the husk. Unfortunately, you failed with the svanir guy, since he loses any conditions in a fraction of a second as long as his buff is up, making them just as worthless as any damage unless he loses the buff. Oh, and it doesn’t matter what should happen, but what happens, and there I’m pretty sure that it’s simply the order of application that counts.

But anyway, the conclusion that it’s absolutely useless to focus on conditions in PvE still stands untouched.

I thought stacks from the higher condition damage players override that of weaker players, once you hit the cap. So it is always worth taking one condition player, but nothing more.

Even if that’s true (which I doubt), a condition player is still not worth it in PvE. First, by overriding someone else’s stacks, he lowers that player’s DPS, and second, condition DPS sucks anyway, no matter how much you invest into it. A proper berserker is virtually always massively superior to a condition character.

That would have zero effect. Conditions in PvE suffer from two problems: The stacking failure (hell, I can fill up to 20 bleeding stacks with my mesmer while completely ignoring anything condition-related) and the fact that they require a lot of time to have their full effect. Condition damage players will always be useless in PvE.

Zerker meta: Possible solutions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

CptAurellian.9537

Is it wrong to want more build variety though? Is it wrong to want other stats to actually be important in the game? I have nothing against zerker gear, nor do I have anything against playing as a zerker. My only issue is that right now, it is the only viable way of playing.

You make it sound as if wanting variety is a bad thing. O_o

All of this is utter bullkitten.

First, there will always be one or two optimal builds per class in PvE and nothing more. If berserker falls, just another set will take its place.

Second, the exact opposite of what you claim about viability is actually true. Right now, everything is viable in PvE. You can complete anything with 5 healer-bunkers, which is about as different from the meta as possible. If you don’t believe it, search on youtube for rT’s or whoever’s no dodge Arah runs. It’s just not optimal – but by definition, there can’t be many optimal things.

Third, we already have full variety. Open a LFG, state “Everyone welcome” and have a look how quickly it fills. However, there’s nothing wrong if others want to complete the same old dungeons, which haven’t changed in 1.5 years, as quickly as reasonable possible.

For knight asc vs. zerker exo, try it out at buildcraft. I guess the knight one will win by a bit, as it has 5 % more damage independent of the stats. With the sigils, the exo with night will definitely win against the asc knight without night.

Bane signet is 5-10 % more damage, just see by how much it increases your power, power and damage are proportional.

Rune of strength need a nerf

We cry OP whilst the math-guru’s in the Dungeon Forums say Scholar is still superior.

I doubt it’s superior in practice. You have to assume permanent 25 stacks might and a huge amount of 90% health uptime for scholar to be just slightly better. Anything other than that and it’s significantly worse. So much so that it’s likely not even worth the risk.

Scholar is 5 % better, staying above 90 % is not difficult and with an (LH) ele, 25 stacks of might are also easy to obtain. You just need a halfway decent group composition and an ounce of skill.

..and back to the topic of english at school. Most players form eastern germany that are 35+ had russion at school and hardly any english. The number for younger players gets smaller but i still know a few people 20+ that hardly had english at school. Some of them just 3 years and thats hardly sufficient for a decent communication. In addition we have the younger players at 12+. At the age of 12 you have your first english lesseons. You can’t expect thoose players to speak english.

This is absolutely true, the minimum three years are far from enough for working communications, especially if those people have a hard time with foreign languages anyway. Furthermore, school english and what you need for an everyday conversation are often … misaligned.
I’ve also got the impression that Germany is still in a quite good spot concerning english as a foreign language. If I think of what I experienced in France both in school at the age of ~16 and in university in master courses (in biosciences, where decent english is absolutely required for survival!), that was worse than anything I’ve experienced here, by a fair margin.

So, in short: Anyone expecting/postulating that everyone on the european megaservers must speak english is either extremely stupid, highly ignorant or boundlessly arrogant. The old language-specific servers have been here for good reason.

Never underestimate Might Duration… And otherwise it’s just 3% damage difference.

It’s ~5 % damage difference, the ferocity on scholar is worth approximately 2 % damage. Besides, I don’t see where the might duration should help us so much – 6 or 8 seconds from VoJ activation is no big deal, focus 5 blasting yields only 3 stacks and staff 4 is … bad. I guess strength runes rock for LH eles, but otherwise?

Opinion on a PvE Build

in Guardian

Posted by: CptAurellian.9537

CptAurellian.9537

You’re still talking about PvE, aren’t you? Then forget two things. Banish them from your mind, never to come back in the next millenium:

First, retaliation. “Useless” would still be an euphemistic description for this boon, it’s worse than that. As slowly as virtually all mobs attack, it deals pretty much no damage. If you happen to get it as a secondary effect of whatever, fine. But trying to improve it actively by putting traits or whatever into it is an absolute waste of resources.

Second, condition damage (and, in consequence, 30 Zeal). Even if you could apply bleed and poison in addition to burning, a comparable direct damage build would still laugh at your DPS. However, burn is your only condition, so it’s even worse. We like burning enemies – but an intelligent guardian doesn’t care for how much they burn, as long as they burn at all to activate Zeal II. Finally, as burning damage is irrelevant, the Zeal grandmasters are irrelevant, too. There is no single reason in this game to go 30 points into Zeal; 10 is always a good choice, 20 if you like the greatsword, 25 if you want hammer DPS at all costs, but never 30. Unless you’ll want an absolute fail build like Nemesis, of course …

Opinion on a PvE Build

in Guardian

Posted by: CptAurellian.9537

CptAurellian.9537

With the traits, have a look at obal’s sticky. Seriously, most of the stuff you suggest is utter junk. I’d recommend to take either 10/25/0/10/25 or 20/25/0/5/20 – you sound as if you could need more endurance regen via vigor, so 5 Honor is a must and the perfect meta is not feasible. Both of these builds offer vigor and approximately the same damage, trading mainly the Zeal VII selfheal against shout cooldowns. As for the gear, scrap chrysocola orbs in the trinkets, they’re worthless. Either ruby/opal orbs or, if you want a bit defense, beryl/emerald. With the runes, wait for the 15.4. patch before you invest any significant sum. You should also think about changing soldier armor to knight or valkyrie, since soldier is defensive overkill.

Yeah, there are numbers you should aim for.
Power – as much as possible.
Toughness – 916, so exactly 0 above the base value.
Vitality – 916-1016, depending on the build.

The only reason to take toughness and vitality in PvE is the possible lack of skill to survive as a full glass cannon in zerker armor. Everything can be easily done by using the full complement of active damage avoidance possibilities this class offers.

while this is an amusing comment, and if implemented will probably help….

Well, I should have added the second part: After 10 seconds, the boss gets really annoyed, increasing its damage by 200 % and attack frequency by 100 %.
