Have to admit they laid out all of the possible details and what couldn’t be was contact us and we’ll take care of it (of course within reason and work together in those cases). I don’t recall this being done at all since I’ve played GW2 (public open beta’s) so can only guess it isn’t a norm but was documented or tested once or twice

Yeah, bad and ignorant players will usually run to the forums and complain to lobby for the devs to adjust other classes so they have a chance. There are many builds Druids play that are not meta per say that could fit that roll you note above.

My personal build runs NM, BM, and Druid using Celestial Ascended armor has the base. From there I’ll throw in healing, toughness, and power accessories and food which compliments it. Then have already fine tuned that with sigils which yields me a base of 3200 armor with 1200 healing. Pets are smoke scale and bristle back. Runes of Durability of course.

Build will either kill them slowly or bore them and they leave. The part that people complain about is there are some tools such has staff that make getting away a bit natural. Same with say celestial shadow. Of course the player is never at fault for dropping target or losing sight, right? Let alone using any form of CC or mitigation if they are the ones in CC.

The kicker again comes back to said player who came to the forums and post tears of rage. A reasonable skilled player running a Druid can seem Godly when facing a single ignorant or unskilled or new player. Same would hold true of the Druid was fighting say 10 or so unskilled or coordinated players. Again, the bum rush to forums to rage mentality. Now amp this up by a skilled Druid player, and, well it is now times 10…

It isn’t just the Druid though who can do this. Any class played by a reasonable player can escape or has similar troll builds. Never ending story or nightmare.

Ever consider changing your outfit? You know, find a new pair of shoes to roam around on? Oh better yet that piece of armor that pushes up…never mind.

Unless you are talking about possible incoming downward adjustments to our sustain, then no. I wouldn’t expect anything positive. Druids are pretty much like the original Guardian in that the slightest positive adjustment usually makes them broke or over powered on the scale of 10.

My personal opinion is that we’ll continue to see tuning of the type Druid players don’t like with positive adjustments to everyone else. Especially since they do not seem to be interested in trying to fix or balance Ranger / Druid and Pets. So take the path of least resistance and leave us alone, adjust everyone else.

May have to go to a more double melee build in order to survive the current game. Most people are finally catching on that once you CC the druid they are dead.

I’ve seen a few skilled players manage very well but they are just better and don’t over react or panic. Even then, CC is so borked along with every other PvP format of play.

Broke system is still going to be broke until they put money and thought into it.

No competition doesn’t help.

I always found these classes difficult to fight, and ran from them in WvW, but these days I often can’t even run away anymore.

How far did you get when you ran? Not like we are the fastest class in the stable. I’d wager most of those you ran from could catch us with one leg…

I’d like to see some of the symbols re-worked especially around mace and staff. Standing still in a WvW/sPvP game makes little sense.

I’m sure the OP dislikes me just has much has any other Druid because I run one build that has high sustain and lets the pet do all the work…whereas my other is more DPS focused and I stay at range.

I personally don’t get caught up in who is first, second, or last in this game. I just play it to escape reality a couple hours a week and refill my salt shaker.

What you tell me about wells then? They are pretty much symbols with a bit larger radius.

I don’t have much to say about them other than if they are of similar mechanic then they are also wonky. From a Guardian perspective here let us take Symbol of Faith. You drop this magical mystic symbol on the ground and it damages foes. Sounds good, right?

Double tap, dodge, move forward, move backward, do the Iggy shuffle, what have you. You moved, symbol is stationary and thus negated. It gets better though, we are not done. Now for the Allies that I cast this mighty symbol of salvation (great Armored Saint song btw) to regenerate my allies they have to stand in the symbol… It doesn’t stop there. Lets swap to staff and symbol of swiftness. Most of you wont’ know about that nerf but never the less we have to drop another symbol on the ground, yes it is stationary, and it does damage. We already know about our great dance moves but let us go back to allies.

You again must be standing in the symbol for the swiftness tick. The longer you stay, the more swiftness ticks you get for duration. See the issue?

WvW and sPvP are fast and typically one does not want to be stationary. That is why I said they are sort of borked. If the well or any other class has a similar mechanic then I’d say it too is wonky. I’m not biased towards the Guardian. It is a mechanic / design that I think is flawed when the game itself encourages dodge to mitigate or standing still for enhancements when that in of itself is bad.

Stationary targets are easier to hit and control than those moving.

I don’t see the point of taking Honor tree, honestly though. You have one minor that’s not useful solo at all, and a so-so mace trait. Pure of Heart doesn’t really help sustain too much as you don’t have aegis spam. Writ of persistance is alright, I guess but I’d be tempted to bloat stats with Force of Will.

Honor is used because of invigorated bulwark and pure of heart. Mace has a good blocking mechanic has does the focus. Shield – more or less is worthless in this case so a lot of the sustain comes from mace/focus. When you see that, it will be long. Once the Guardian switches to shield, that is when you lock them down and CC / DPS their kitten into the dirt.

I’ve run a similar build and it has its moments. Great for scouting and back capping. However, it is slow If you are running this in HAVOC or duo first few times you have some good luck. However, fighting repeats they usually catch on and will either lock you down and destroy you or ignore you and kill your friends. In this case shield has some use cases as does the staff.

To kill the pet, you need to force swap the first one and then kill the second one BEFORE it dies. And killing the pet getting healed and stealthed by the druid is a lot harder than it sounds. If you manage to kill the pet, you then have to kill the first pet again, and then the druid will just run away. In other words, pets are kittening OP! I know they’ve been nerfed, but not hard enough. Druids alone already do decent damage. Now just add a pet to that…

I’m getting a strong vibe that you are doing some shady and unethical things to our pets. I am sensing the pet hate in you is strong.

Remove server from the equation.

Players matter and what they do. As do guilds and informal alliances. You ever wonder why a game dating back to 2001 never had these issues surrounding servers? It didn’t because the focus was placed on players, guilds, and alliances.

Sure, they had population and wall clock coverage issues – any game with a durational score will. But they didn’t allow transfers and focused on the player. Ranks with structure and caps, abilities mapped, and of course weekly statistics by:

I can’t speak for you Lone but I will say I had something similar happen to me this past Friday / reset. Was in one of the BL’s when I hear the stealth sounds and was attacked, then moved a bit and saw the trip wire. Insta light up. Moved, heard sound again, same thing. Poof, dead.

I was on my Druid. Support build I recall but it wouldn’t have mattered. NM/BM/Druid staff/lb. Could have been a single thief, or pair just trolling or having fun. I’m pretty sure the thief is running trapper runes and whatever other traits, weapons, sigils, food, or any other bags of tricks to make them 99% perma stealth.

I do know I saw the trip wire – just like you would see on the moss fractal. Two sticks with the string. Beyond that I don’t know, nor did I care. I went back, had it happen again, then moved on. Don’t think I’ve run into them since.

We can’t be bagging on their system or favoritism of CD now can we?

Trapper runes have been adjusted to 2 seconds of stealth with the release of HoT.

If you are joining an organized group then sadly that is one of the requirements to be part of the team. Right or wrong, it is what it is. Usually in time has you get to know them, or they you, things loosen up and you earn your spot, regardless of the class you started on. Similar with raiding, etc.

The last thing they want you doing is insta gibbing yourself with rapid fire on a target who is using reflects or daisy chaining them…seen it happen. But on the other hand the group just doesn’t want a ranger or druid out of ignorance then there are other things you can do and still have fun.

The Druid is not a Paladin (typically heavy armor – see Guardian) nor healer unless you gear and trait for it. Armor, runes, accessories, and sigils do not need healing stats. Same has the food you consume.

Note 3: Yes, it does seem everyone has reflect….firing blinding in a zerg is what we call thinning the heard and seperates “good” rangers from “average” ones. Don’t be that Ranger – look at the annimations before firing blindly.

Full disclosure: I do not main/play druid.

Druid and scrapper both feel over tuned to me. Anet has slowly brought down bunkery specs and these are the last two remaining ones where they simply beat you by having their defenses on shorter cooldowns. Druid seems to just rotate between signet of stone, celestial avatar into stealth and superspeed, kiting with short cooldown evade/dash. Perhaps there are some tips that I simply am unaware of but it seems ridiculous how easily they can full heal without using ACTUAL heal.

I understand that the spec is based off of healing but some portion of it needs to go. My choice would be to remove the stealth OR superspeed from the celestial avatar ending trait and compensate with w.e you guys feel some damage should be added.

You don’t understand the spec because, as you opened the thread with full disclosure you don’t play a Druid. I’m not sure what planet you are on but here on Earth we call that ignorance.

But we have all experienced it when we are out numbered, consider running away, then end up engaging and laying the mother of all molly whopping on them. You get that moment of /flex and feel super bad kitten . Only to have reality kick in a minute or two later and just say meh, they are just bad…

Case in point – Warrior and I fighting in SBI borderland. Warrior already killed me once but we met up again and it was close, but stale mate. Other server party came up and engaged us both. We both stop the warrior and I, each pick our own target, kill them, then party up and giggle Said our peace and left has friends. Somewhere, I’m sure those two are writing nerf warrior, druid posts this morning or something on the WvW boards on how we teamed up on them rather than them trying to take advantage of a situation and having it go bad on them.

I have an idea, why don’t we balance every class. Just put everyone in town cloths and give us all pillows. Maybe that will be balance enough for you.

I wish stats or food buffs would transfer to pet, or scale based on your level. Or give pets levels so their stats scale accordingly. Much like player with map.

I also run a NM/BM/DR but use Celestial with heal/tough accessories. LB/Staff with durability runes. When things get dicey range is your friend. Since we are talking WvW then there are plenty of areas to trip the enemy up especially when they continue to chase you across the map. Sooner or later you will find the higher ground which nine out of ten times leads them to their deaths due to LB 4…

No – Druids are not bad in WvW but you do need to find something that works for you and the group you are with.

So a system designed for chess, a single player game, is supposed to work on a system designed for a couple hundred players…

I wouldn’t say Druid is broken, I’d just say the non-druid builds are so bad in today’s game that it makes everything else seem OP.

Funny thing is we ended up in a party, compared some notes, chit chatted about random things, and walk away friends. Heck, even the third server player he killed, that I was trying to save for some unknown reason, joined in and had a good laugh.

It isn’t the class no more than it is RL causing one to lose. Responsibility lays on the player behind the keyboard and monitor. If you can’t adapt or find fun in the game then it is time to do something else…

Nope – you do what you did and be done. That is what I typically do. Not sure why some people don’t get the roaming, scouting, and back cap concept of a single player. And this isn’t even factoring in the NPC and Merc camps and veterans.

That thread is over 3 years old when their were twice as many tiers and a much larger population difference between the tiers.
Players on both of my servers are having a blast this week because the match ups are fresh. Neither server stands a chance of winning the coverage wars but everyone is out their playing and having fun.

Probably a good time to remove servers from the equation then and just let everyone have at it. Remove server, focus on players, what they do, and how they do it.

Just need a portal (real one) that list such achievements, victories, losses, deaths, and other things unique to players and classes. Much like a game had back in 2001… /boggle

But yes, there is some fun although there is only so much one can actually take when everything is uneven by orders of magnitude.

Does it lists alliances? Oh yeah, nope. Not in this game either. We get a WvW ranking system that doesn’t have a ceiling and continues to loop through the same set of named rank and file. We can clearly see that server match ups and ranks don’t hold water. The system used to rank isn’t working. It isn’t clearly working when you manually have to add scores to move servers. Furthermore, you single out a server, CD, and get them to move up while leaving the rest behind.

Edit: Point is, there can only be 1 in first, someone has to be second, third, and so on. Remove server from equation focus on players and what they contribute to along with guilds. This probably goes away and it then becomes population which is still an issue.

Hmm…ever wonder why WoW decided to go the route of wintergrasp or bg’s? Because they saw what was happening to DaOC and our server population issues when 3 servers are fighting. This isn’t anything new but it is interesting to see this game developer face similar struggles only to try something different and flounder. Personally I’d take a step back and try something else.

It is working has designed – look at SBI’s matchup…total blowout and it is Sunday. We say this once we logged in and saw the matchup. GG.

You are looking at it the wrong way, it isn’t a server issue.

Take it down to the lower level where it belongs. Players, guilds, and correlate it to a web portal breaking it down to the top 25 – 50 players per week. Total, by class, by guild, by points, by what is claimed, for how long, player deaths, longevity, kill streak, etc.

See what I did there? There isn’t a server issue anymore because who comes in first, second, or third no longer matters. What matters is what you, your team, or guild does. This isn’t rocket science.

Yes, CD is trending in 3rd but it is somewhat close. At least they have a closer spread than they had last week. On the other hand, DH/EB lose CD and gain SBI which is also trending a similar spread between servers and points.

Look – the question is simple really. Arena Net – what is it you are honestly trying to accomplish here? And lastly, what did you expect padding some servers with their score?

Good question I’ll have to take a look. Believe it is WS 2 – 3- 2, Marks 3, 3, 3, and Druid 1, 3, 3. I think my issue is the power level due to celestial armor – letting accessories and weapons making up berserker stats. So I’m also impacted by the durability runes.

I hated swapping armors around so made a single ascended set – probably my first mistake Then again, I’m stealing the OP’s thread for which I apologize.

Disallow pet switching in fight. they can pick 2 pets but second pet only can be active after the first pet dies. And first pet getting around 60sec cd.

With this update you can force that noob druids for fighting.

Never the less the fundamental problem is that we are seeing this has a “server” ranking and ego thing rather than bringing it down to the lower levels of Guilds, Players, and maybe future, Alliances. We are, after all, the people who make the game fun.

It’s a step in the right direction… However, I’m concerned t4 won’t change until the next linking. DH shouldn’t be a host server to begin with, they are being pummelled every week and it’s getting worse. CD is nearly 3x their score this week and has been increasing steadily.

DH isn’t getting pummelled, that really isn’t fair (not that fair matters I guess). DH and EB are waging a war against 7 bloody servers. You do know it is 2 v 3 v 4, right?

DH and EB can handle CD just fine. It is the other servers that are mudding the waters which leads back to my original point. What makes CD so special and why should we care about them? This is yet again showing how broke or currpt the system is. It is broke. Stop trying to put a bandaid and on it and actually fix it before everyone bails the sinking ship.

The only saving grace GW2 had in this format of play is that it is the “only” game in town with format. Once someone comes along these players will leave. Nothing is left here that is ground breaking…

They can see transfer. That really isn’t an excuse.

And for the few guilds that left prior to, we don’t really care much about them. Most of them are fair weather players anyway and came out only when it was a sure fire win. Lgn was probably one of the last and left because of the train wreck that was left behind.

Whatever, it is an option so again the onus falls onto Arena Net.

I never realized but why does CD have so many servers on their side? Shouldn’t anet distribute one to DBay?

It has been asked why is it so important to focus on CD yet their are paired with 3 other servers. The last couple of weeks it has been an amazing 2 v 3 v 4 fight and they wonder why people are not participating or leaving.

One could try and spin it that DH and Ebay are that good but the reality is, they are actually pretty good those that are left, but the pair of servers are failing every week because they are constantly out numbered.

Free repairs are nice, but come on…who on CD works for Arena Net or washing their cars, or doing other stuff to earn favors.

I can say I’m not sure the druid was sold has a be all end all healing machine. Has much has I’d want it to be, or the guardian, there really is no way a druid can keep most people alive for any duration of time when CC/crap is on the ground. The game wasn’t designed for that sort of play.

Which sort of breaks WvW at least in my opinion. Not really tied to the Druid other than he was supposed to make more of the healing stats. But then I wonder why other classes have as much if not more sustain. We are right back to other MMO’s and class homology – class A has a similarity with class B.

The big chunk of the budget (understood as number of employees) is always needed for expanding the content, creating new assets and how Anet call it ‘new technologies’ which it isnt more than a programmer that make a new library to get new functionality.

that needs time and resources.

Having a couple of dudes just playing with skills stats (duration, cd, dmg…) shouldnt need much cash. With this i want to express that there is no excuse for a game badly balanced.

Even if the dude just hardcoded all the numbers there is no reason a couple of dudes couldnt actually balance the game right.

Honest question – how long did it take you to complete the new story?

I’ve been playing around with the change, and I found that it is now very easy to keep perma-fury going, which means lots of extra bleeds for condi longbow.

Would be interested from a WvW point of view…with the right armor and accessory setup I think one could get 1k of both condition and healing with a relative high armor. Could be fun…
