Maxed Achievements Rank with golden star

Culwenimos.1594

OP said it is similar to GW1 title completion rank, not that is should include GW1.

Such as (from GW1):
Rank — Title Name — Titles Maxed
1 -- Kind Of A Big Deal — 5
2 — People Know Me -- 10
3 — I’m Very Important -- 15
4 — I Have Many Leather-Bound Books -- 20
5 — My Guild Hall Smells of Rich Mahogany -- 25
6 — God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals — 30

So ideally, each rank would provide a different icon.

Technically, they would have to create different models for different races.
Which is 3 weights x 4 other races and make sure it looks right.

In terms of Role Play, cultural armoursmiths would have to “tailor” the sizes and specifics of the cultural armour and that means they would charge a higher premium for their efforts compared to just doing it for their race. (Of course this doesn’t matter because it’s not real life, but it doesn’t make sense to reduce the price of other races’ armour).

Culwenimos.1594

Yup, today’s “consumables” deals don’t appeal to me.

It’s likely they would put some “style” costumes next.

I doubt they would put character slots or bank slots because they know there is a demand for this, whereas the other fluff is entirely optional. So in their point of view, they would want to keep these sold at non-discounted price to get more money. It can be argued that if they discount them now, they would get lots of money coming in but that would only be if they desperately needed it.

In GW1, they did have character slots on sale one time but that was a very, very, very long time after release when the active player base was reducing and when GW2 was around the corner. The time when demand was very little.

There was an article about the “GW2 Extended Experience” where this was going to be one of its features. Other features included chatting to Guildies who were currently playing in-game and some map feature, all from a mobile app or web browser.

In terms of progress, it might be a while since they have other priorities.

1. You will need a campaign (Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall) and the actual GW1 expansion, Eye of the North.

2. You will need 6 points to unlock all heritage armour. You will get 3 of those points just by linking your GW1 account to GW2.

It won’t be hard to get, since it is the first 6 points. You can check the HoM calculator for what things you can do. If you have GW2 guildies who came from GW1, you can ask them for any spare minipets or money or whatever (since they don’y play it much anymore).

sPvP can be accessed through the icon at the top of your screen(also anywhere in the world). You travel to the Heart of the Mists and there will be a PvP browser to hot-join (matching to any available team) and there is a Tournament guy who will explain about tournaments and allow you to set up a team.

Be patient. It’s only been 4 days since the end of the event. They mentioned that they will re-imburse those who got disconnected just before the boss but it means they have to do it right. They have to discover who is eligible based on server logs etc. but that will take time, looking through it case by case. Or server by server.

Weapons: cutlasses and pistols, any combination.
Skills: summon cannon and summon parrot.
Traits: Treasure hunting, Firearms, Swordsmanship

Also Quaggan’s would be a race.

It’d be interesting to have your character’s discipline affect some of the skills. Such as being a cook, you use a frying pan or create a cauldron that allies can eat for buffs etc.

Yep, the personal story will have to do with it. But it’s quite the same for real life. You’re just born that way.

You could get a sex change.
You can get a body change.
You can get a name changed.
But you can’t change where you came from.

(The top three features were available for purchase in GW1 after a while)

Who knows, they might put in and reset your personal story but I’m sure it’s more complicated than that.

I’m an A(-). I play mostly in PvE. I liked the dungeon. I did it only so far to get the Monthly achievement. I would do it in the future to get 20 slot bags but I have no real desire to get Ascended gear so the fractal tokens would do just fine. I’d be more influenced to do it if guildies needed a party member to do it.

Overflow Servers Achilles’ heel

Were you in a party? I think they have it so that they attempt to put you in the same overflow as your party. I remember being in Southsun overflow. I logged out and logged back in and was automatically put in their overflow. Although I guess if you were in a party, you could have tried joining them back in the same overflow.

With all the server stress and/or the fact that you were booted, they might have caused that functionality to fault.

Culwenimos.1594

So I need to frequent these gaming sites to stay informed?

Im sure there are tons of people, like myself, that do not want to read wikis or anything like that to experience content in the game they paid for. You shouldn’t have to rely on a website to provide you information on what is going to happen in the MMO. All of that information should be clearly laid out in the game, in this case it wasnt. I received only one mail, after phase 2 had started, the little event thingy in the upper right hand corner, in no exact words, just told me to help the lionguard invade the karka at southshorn cove…no idea how to get there. By boat, but where?
Since I did not check GW2 website over the weekend, I had no clue when exactly phase 3 was starting until it did. And since we/I have a life outside of the video game, I couldn’t participate in it. Even if I could, I think the lag and 8 FPS would have resulted in me just standing there, smashing the #1 key, hoping to get “gold” for the event.

OK… I have to choose the side of others here.

1. You shouldn’t expect in-game mail system to give you advanced warning about any event phases. “Lion’s Arch is going to be invaded by Karka in a week’s time! Get ready with you pitchforks! and get ready for great loot!”. However they did put event information on this in various locations. Official website linked to official forums. Log-in bulletin board that links to website to forum. Also they had sent an e-mail to your linked e-mail address about the event as well. You decided to live in your protective bubble and ignore all these attempts to inform you.
2. Neither should you expect a walkthrough “Go to this guy, clap 5 times, go to this thing, pick it up, go to guy, give him stuff.” either, through the in-game mail or through the event description. This game wants to avoid the linear-based quest logs. Sure they could have given a better general direction to which areas to search in but no it shouldn’t be clearly laid out for you.
3. You’ve changed the reason for which you was not able to attend Phase 3. Your first post says it was due to “Lag and confusion” and now your recent post says “You have a life outside of the game”. You opted to “have a life” so you indeed you lost your chance. Uninformed however is inaccurate. I would say you were poorly directed.

GW events usually work this way. Progressively increasing in reward and activity until a finale. Any Boss event should have hinted some form of reward.

An exception to this was Halloween, where the “Boss” was in the middle phase. Whereas the final phase, the party, was very underwhelming.

I guess you can’t really predict or expect to know what will be given but if you see any part that involves a boss, I’m sure there’s a nice reward gleaming at the end.

But yeah, I enjoy the participation of these events, more than the reward.

I’ve deleted everything (since they were parts of the investigation clues) except the Complete map. It just seems weird that it was given to us as the end of Phase 1 with currently no purpose.

As for the candy meter, I got rid of that ages ago. They will probably re-issue a new one if you ever need it again.

Not everyone is 100g richer than you from the loot (I received just some rares, non-special). I agree that it could have been communicated slightly better in-game wise but not about them telling what rewards there were going to be. That would defeat any anticipation and excitement for the event. I just wanted to go for the participation of the one-time event. And as such, getting the items was a bonus. It won’t change anything with how I will play from now on and that’s all that matters for me.

At least you will have learned from this experience and will adapt to how ANet will execute events in the future (hopefully more better than on their behalf).

Meta event on the new island?

So we committed genocide on the Karka

in The Lost Shores

Posted by: Culwenimos.1594

Culwenimos.1594

If any new species came into the city with watery puppy eyes and gave everyone a hug. instead of invading and destroying anything in their wake. There wouldn’t have been such a drastic genocide. Although if that did happen, there would be some who would try to eat them or experiment on them. And then we would have been the aggressors. Since they have animal instincts and have no viable way to communicate their anger, they would then have reason to destroy us. So it would be inevitable.

Paid appearance changes.

Culwenimos.1594

I have a feeling that this functionality will be added in the far future. Like a few years down the line. They did it GW1 where you can:
a) change appearance or
b) change gender and appearance

With gender change costing more. There was even a name-change purchase in GW1 but this came much later. Right now, it’s really early in the game’s life to add such luxuries, especially when they are focusing on ironing out the existing problems as well as provide new content. But who knows, with more money made through this gem store, they may have resources sooner than later.

An "XP" system for fractals

in Suggestions

Posted by: Culwenimos.1594

Culwenimos.1594

There are counter-arguments to your suggestions:

1. Allowing the level entry to be based on highest achieved will mean that people will be “gate monkeying” the higher tiers of the dungeon. You will get people just looking for anyone who has unlocked the a certain high tiers to get the best loot. This means that lower level and new players are being left behind if they do not want to start at the high point or simply can’t. They would enter a high tier and complain that’s too hard. The cause of this would be that they hadn’t experienced the previous tiers. The key point of this dungeon is that it gets progressively difficult to a point where they can’t progress. It would be unhealthy for the new dungeoneers to start at a high tier and try to complete it, then if they couldn’t, to try one below, and so on. This would just cause them to get annoyed and frustrated.
2. Xp system. Same idea. It has to be progressive in difficulty. Doing Tier(1) 9 times would mean that they have unlocked Tier(10) and that’s a big leap in difficulty. Only way this would work would be diminishing xp each time you tier up. Similar to the example of a Level 1 character trying to level to Level 80 in a starting area. The xp should diminish.

Mini Pets - Improvement

I agree that nobody really takes them out because of having to do it every time you get into a new area. It’s a bit like town clothes.

I’m not sure that Minipets that are easily accessible is that much of a good idea for those who suffer lag issues.

Imagine at a festive event, a person whips out their minipet. If other people see this minipet, they would want theirs out too and if it is as easy as clicking a button in your inventory then you’ll have loads of minipets running around. And this will probably cause people to lag due to all the movement calculations. There was a limit in GW1 that stopped too many minipets to be displayed and I assume the same goes for this.

Soulbound items in the bank

Problem:
When a character puts a soulbound item into storage and you didn’t realise it was soulbound. When you look through your bank later on after a few character switches, and find this it will say “Soulbound to another character”. This is not useful since it does not say who it soulbound to, so you have a choice of checking on each character or destroying it, thus losing it’s value.

Suggestions:
a) Do what you did in GW1. “Customised to ‘Other Character Name’” so you know who exactly needs to retrieve it
b) Put a pop-up dialogue (which could be toggled on/off) that notifies the player if they are placing a soulbound item into the bank.
c) Colour-code the square the item is in. (e.g a faint colour that isn’t sharp but is noticeable)

Lost Shores Feedback Thread

Culwenimos.1594

Personal experience:
I thought the weekend was quite good.
Living in the UK, the timing was perfect.
Having a decent laptop meant I didn’t suffer lag issues/connection issues (Only at the Invasion but the rest was alright).
Not bothered about Ascended gear debate or the supposed treadmill.

Phase 1:
Good:
1. Fractals Dungeon – variations and the possible reward of 20 slot bags.
2. Liked the Donations, gave me an opportunity to rid those hoarded low lvl greens.
Bad:
1. Scavenger hunt – Bugged Npc, meant I had to wait for a patch. Also I wasn’t sure if I had to keep the soulbound map, potion etc since they weren’t removed from inventory. The Jug of Karma reward was a bit underwhelming (unless I missed something).

Phase 2:
Good:
1. Jump puzzles.
2. Dynamic events. Fun to see the masses getting steamrolled. Enjoyed the teamwork of getting those people back into the fight. Had a feel of a huge battle.
Bad:
1. Was a bit clueless to whether this phase started at all, only to find out that you had to speak to a NPC at the docks.

Phase 3:
Good:
1. Ancient Karka – Enjoyed the progression of the event. Liked how everyone helped each other and the teamwork required to complete each part. Rewards were nice but for me being lvl 79 and 9 tenths meant I was rewarded with lvl 75 stuff. A shame but I’m sure not a big deal. It did get less exciting nearing the middle due to the mass of Karka spawning. But that is the essence of battle and prolonged battles tend to make you weary. It was fun watching both sides of the table rise and fall.
