Well considering it’s a elite and all of our elites suck for the most part it would give us one we could use… Honestly if I had my way I would be able to put a utility in the elite slot and just act like we don’t have any elites.

Oh and just a heads up None of the skills you mentioned stun break.

To much time…. I’ve never seen one drop for me not even during the lost shores event…. I have all 3 of my gifts and now am just saving the gold to get my precurser off of the trading post because it’s clear that a.net doesn’t care if they are unobtainable by players with bad luck….

I want a elite that reflects that we are the masters of condition manipulation…. Plague is a poor excuse of a elite so it’s the best one to vote to be replaced by plague sending….

Plague sending
1/4 cast time
30 second cooldown
Breaks stun
Sends all conditions from you to all enemies around you
600 aoe range

There you have it a elite that would kill 2 birds with 1 stone… It would give us a stun break and a way to remove conditions from ourselves on a semi reliable cooldown… It would be useful for all builds alone just because it’s a stun break on a moderate cooldown.

That’s what I used back when I was running conmancer. I focused on a little more power since bleed doesn’t scale that amazing it’s better to hit for 200 more damage then have a bleed that ticks for 120 instead of 115… Anyway bip brings it up to around 130ish ticks of bleed and the direct damage is good enough to get by fighting bar stools.

Anyone know when the trait changes are?

Power / Crit example build?

Dakiaris.2798

I don’t focus on melee I use the axe/staff but mainly focus on the axe… To me the staff is just used for the fear , chill , condition transfer and the range when I need to hit something further away.

http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/necromancer/?5.0|7.1g.h2.d.1g.h1|6.1g.h2|1n.7b.1n.7b.1n.7b.1n.7b.1n.7b.1n.7b|1g.67.2s.0.3s.0.1g.67.1g.67.3v.0|u26b.5.0.k25.f2|0.0|3r.3u.44.0.4e|e

Is the build I’m running currently the +4% damage from runes , 5% from force and 15% from axe mastery is enough to make the average hit of the auto on axe hit for 500-600 and the crits are over 1k a pop meaning 2k pre hit… The 20 in blood can be subbed but the mix of life generation/damage that comes from it is nice… You don’t realize how quickly 37 life solen on hit and 50 per crit adds up.. It’s nothing amazing and you can move some of the points into soul reaping or death if you want but I keep them there for survival… Ghastly claws = 8×37 along with a few crits worth of bonus damage and healing to you… The numbers look like you got bleed on them that just can’t be cleansed.

The skills are all self selected I just choose my average go to… Devour plague can be subbed with well if you decide on more support… Bip is your main offense skill so I would suggest not changing that out unless you really have to…. Locust signet with the 50% siphon trait is a free full heal on 4 targets and the passive is amazing for your mobility… The only issue is you don’t get the passive on use….. The 3rd utility is completely up to you though I recommend signet of undeath for party play, corrupt boon for wvw, spectral wall for support via protection to those who run through it. And lastly lichform is just good with a high power/crit/crit damage build due to the way it works..

I do focus 4 followed by 2 auto attacks then a ghastly claws. If I’m 100% life force I go into ds and life blast till 50% lf then I life transfer and go back out and focus on attacking with the axe… If the target is to dangerous to get within 600 yards I focus on auto attacks and the marks from the staff… Autos may be super slow and you wont always hit but 2k crits and 1k hits are nothing to scoff at nor is the marks though they hit for much less except putrid which can crit up to 5k

You can edit it as you see fit I just have it set this way because it’s my play style… I seriously recommend trying out the life stealing traits before you dump them though because like I said those little numbers add up quickly.. 5-7k ghastly claws with that bonus 296-696 damage is nice since it comes back to you as a heal…. If they buff siphoning skills/traits as they said that may go up and make my build even better for me….. The auto also ticks it twice per use which is good…

fire sigil crits for 1.5k aoe
air sigil crits 4-5k

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil_of_air
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil_of_fire

Just a heads up they can’t crit.

Also I used to use a dagger/well build that used old fleshy to cc right here.
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/necromancer/?5.0|8.1g.h2.8.1g.h1|7.1g.h2.d.1g.h1j|1n.7b.1g.7b.1g.7b.1g.7b.1n.7b.1n.7b|1g.67.2s.0.3s.0.1g.67.1g.67.2v.0|0.k49.a0.k18.k20|0.0|3r.4d.44.4a.4g|e

I don’t run this build anymore due to prefering the axe due to the range and higher crits on ghastly claws but it did fantastic damage… The axe/focus combo as the secondary is just a mid range option btw you can switch it with the staff if you want… The bonus dodge when you switch to it was a life saver…. The only sigil I recommend keeping on the dagger would be force since 5% bonus damage is a good sustain boost the 5% crit on the other hand is completely up to you…
edit
I forgot to say if you have any questions for me add me to your friends list using Dakiaris… I’m usually on 1 of my 3 characters mid afternoon to late at night.

Also the backpack you can use that or go with the zerker one… I just did that one for the little bit of survivability… I plan to swap it to a zerker one when I can since it’s only -50 armor.

What GW1 feature would you bring to GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dakiaris.2798

I would bring the Necromancer from gw1 to gw2…. For those who say the necromancer is here I want you to take a hard look at the 2 they play so different it’s sad…

On guild wars 1 I could make fights last forever with debilitating conditions and life stealing or I could be a minion master with many types of minions that actually tanked/damaged and I could keep them alive… I could play a hex build that caused the targets to take additional damage and explode after a few seconds.. I could even do a direct damage build like a ele that focused on hitting the target with hard hitting spells that had conditions tacked on them… The necromancer in 2 is supposed to be the same but does none of that.

I get that they wont bring hexs back but I miss them dearly… I would settle for barbs and good life stealing being back on necromancer and plague sending….. I mean plague sending would be amazing for what necros are all about why do we not have it… Drop our kitten plague elite and give us that instead make it break stuns and transfer all conditions from you to target + all targets in 240 range on a 90 second cd and has a 600 range..

Elite armor that looks amazing and is class based instead of light/med/heavy based.
HORIZONTAL PROGRESSION!
Elite dungeons plz?

None of this 1 time only bs bring it to the game and leave it in game do yearly events like gw1 had if anything.

The ui.. I loved how the call targets / conditions / health and even armor sets worked + the ability to move every ui frame around was amazing how much you could customize it.

Obby armor… nuff said there.
Unique dances based on class / race / sex
Heros not henchies they were kinda boring
Lore
Armors that are class based so a ranger, thief and engie don’t look exactly the same
Underworld…… Part of elite dungeons but yea still I miss it.
GVG!

And again for the record
HORIZONTAL PROGRESSION!

You know I just had this thought…. If it was easier to get money in game all of these issues would happen much less often……. Most people resort to exploiting bugs like this to make money when they are in need of it… Some players say it’s easy to get gold but the issue is that it’s to time consuming and all of the rewards else where feel very lackluster and underwhelming… This is the only game that rewards players so little for actually playing it that I can’t think of any other as bad as this loot wise off the top of my head… Even those free pay to win games have better loot payout for time invested then gw2 at the moment….

I seriously think they should just of slapped them on the wrist but a.net needs to take a step back and look at the bigger picture…. Why would a player exploit a bug like this? Is your game rewarding players for time/effort spent by a good amount ? Are the players happy with drop rates and money gain as it is ? The answer to the last is no… Even the people who live the game like me are disappointed in the drop rates and money gain in the game… You have to spend 1-2 months to save up for a precurser or one of the really cool skins you want… Not because the cost but because events are under 2 silver and mobs don’t drop a single silver…. If events actually gave some form of reliable income do you honestly think players would stay glued in lions arch looking for speed clear dungeon runs or fractals ?

I seen the payout of the snowflake salvaging and avoided it because I could easily tell that wasn’t intended….. As someone pointed out before people familiar with crafting could easily tell that something was off and the people who were in need of a ton of gold seen a quick way to get it……

Honestly I can see both sides of the argument on this and I think a perma ban was a bit excessive…. They should have got a 3 day ban to get attention on issues like this but not perma banned unless they were the same people who did the karma exploit back at launch because those guys should have known better… Seems to good to be true…. It is.

edit
@ hellokittyonline I think exploiters should be banned but everyone deserves a 2nd chance… Look at the karma exploit near launch those guys got a 2nd chance and they did much MUCH worse then the snowflake exploiters.

Gw2, my favorite game

I love the game and agree for the most part but the class balance changes aren’t as drastic as you make them out to be… They have been taking a minimal approach to balance which is leaving some players a bit annoyed due to major reworks needing to happen to get the game to the “esport” levels that a.net themselves claim to want..

I love the game for many things but I can’t just be thankful for it because I see the potential the game has and wanna see it go in the right direction…. Most of the changes they made to combat the bots hurt players so that was a huge step in the wrong direction.. DR has hurt and even pushed some players completely away from the game. There are glaring bugs that have been annoying players since the beta that have simply been put on the back burner for other things that the devs felt were higher up on the list.

There’s a ton to love but a ton to hate because of how things are going and the lack of communication and the manor at which they are handling things just isn’t all that great. The key to starting in the right direction is fix the glaring bugs that the players can see and then work your way to the small bugs… While you may introduce other little bugs in the process if they are not hurting anything major and players aren’t complaining about them then they should be considered a low priority…..Then again players will complain about something no matter the case so I guess that point is invalid.

Point is they could be handing things much better considering the size of the team working on the game… They also need to improve the community communication and start making better judgement calls on some of the changes they introduce.

edit

I’m one of the players who loves the game to the point that I’m vocal about it because I don’t want it to fail… At the current rate that some of the issues are being handled though it has me fearing the worst… I know if all else fails it will become like gw1 with a medium community but I would rather it thrive with a high pop community.

100% agree on the drop rates though you can’t farm due to the DR and horrid bugs that are plaguing some of the players magic find functioning in revers and DR not resetting The drop rates themselves seem to be bugged as well but that could just be because the nerfed drop rates….. Getting anything decent from the dragon/big orr events is like winning the powerball meaning that just won’t happen…

Vail you left out my type of players the farmers…. With all of the loot bugs and time/reward payout being horrid it’s like they would rather my type of player go back to gw1 or go play wow or another game all together….

They need to reward players who prefer to farm… I mean in gw1 I could farm just by playing and having fun with the game but 2 it’s like I have to dedicate hundreds of hours to actually make any major profit…. The majority of money makers are exploiting dungeon bugs to get quick money or monopolize the market nether of which I care to do… Ore farming is profitable but the huge respawn on the veins is really annoying and makes it so I have to find other things to do…. So I opt to attempt to farm for my legendary… Just my precurser to go but that’s about 2-3 months away due to costs.

I would farm the t6 materials since they are decent money makers but the drop rates are to unreliable to make a good profit… You make more just grinding fractals then doing this.

They were kinda meh because you HAD to use a gould group or a group of friends it wasn’t exactly friendly with the difficulty either you had to use spacific builds which honestly were boarderline exploits to complete…. This was nerfed later on so any build could use it but that’s what kept those 2 elite dungeons from getting much use… The skins also were a mix bag some looked great while others looked like crap so the time/reward payout wasn’t exactly good…. It’s like the dungeons in gw2!!!!! Lots of time no payout X-D

My expectations are as follows:

Players will proceed to flood this board with complaints because Anet didn’t devote an entire balancing patch to Necros.

Players will continue making ‘DS mastery’ jokes until Zhaitan has raised that dead horse so that we can cudgel it and drag it around some more.

A Dev, probably Jon Peters, may come on the board to get people to calm their kitten. It won’t work, people will just turn whatever he’s said into another bad joke to run into the ground.

We’ll probably see some more ’I’m quitting the game’ threads.

Stress class philosophy without any real action… They say they are working on it but the proof has yet to be seen. They may fix them and they may not… If you want a class like a warlock go condition engie they play more like a affliction lock then a necro atm… The only thing they lack is the fear but necros somewhat lack that to due to how short it is vs other classes fear.

Considering that scythes are going to be in gw2 in one of the expansions prolly the elonian expansion I’m against this idea. The matter isn’t a if it’s a matter of when it’s added. The scythe was the most popular weapon so them simply skipping it just seems like a really dumb mistake on a.nets part.. Then again there’s been quiet a ew mistakes so I guess we’ll see in the future… We already have shorter range then everyone else and a laughable staff auto attack….

Honestly just change dagger to hit up to 3 targets like most other melee weapons and allow our staff no.1 to track the target we’re firing at to allow it to be a more viable ranged weapon….

More Armors

Considering that this game is supposed to be about “looks” it’s amazing about the lack of choices for armors…. 10-15 sets for each armor type… In gw1 each class had 10-15 UNIQUE looks specific to that class…. Honestly they just need to add more selection of stat combos on the armor and give us more armor looks… I mean we have a decent selection of weapon skins why not armor……

Oh and make legendaries a bit more “legendary” with the animations… Some classes will get special effects on the attacks while others just get basic attack animations. I feel bad for the engies who get a legendary and are in kits 90% of the time so you don’t even get to show it off lol.

edit
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Armor
On the right hand side click the class to see the selection of armors… Honestly I think they should try to at least add a few class specific sets to the game…. I mean anyone notice that necros either look like bath robe warriors or frilly mesmers… The only 2 sets that you can get that look decent is the dry bones set and arrah the rest look like mesmer/ele armor. I would love to get elite necrotic again for my necro or the elite cultist.

All of the classes don’t have to be the exact same cookie cutter signets… They could easily change up each signet passive to do something different.. Generic +x power or +x condition damage isn’t going to make me wanna use it… +x direct damage would make me wanna use it as would +x% endurance regen…. It wouldn’t be hard to balance it for the necro to do +x damage on sigent so what it’s different from the other classes…. That shouldn’t be a issue as all the classes arnt supposed to be 100% the same… Do you see a necromancer with stealth like a thief ? Hell look the thief has a signet that heals by 100 on each attack and they attack faster then a necro.

We need more uniqueness as a class anyway because at the moment we are lacking due to lack of uniqueness….. They should just bring back hexes from gw1 or something because as it stands there’s not much in the form of build variety or class uniqueness.

Ok when something is suggested the numbers are never good 100 was a kitten example idk why it is that you guys are taking it literal…. The point is it should have a direct damage on hit boost… Vampiric and the life steal on crit both proc that’s 25 per hit… goes up to 37 with traits so 50-75 wouldn’t be unresonable…. The fact it can’t be influenced no matter what should be taken into account to you act like vulnerability would affect it… Our direct damage aoe sucks outside of wells so idk why you’re pointing out other things…….

Damage is supposed add up power for us scales HORRIBLY 90 power is only like 5-10 damage on most weps and like 50 damage to wells…. So why would this change be bad exactly ?

Kill I’m not going against you but on the forums 99% of the posts are pve or wvw people that’s why every build is that way… t/s pvp builds don’t really exist outside of aoe condition/well area denial builds because the only suggestions they get are for pve… Suggestions that players make for pvp get completely brushed under the rug and if it’s something that would work for both it REALLY gets shot down by the community…

Honestly I don’t see the class improving all I can do is keep playing and hope to god that a.net does something good sooner or later for the class… I don’t like being stuck into a condition only role for pvp when I was able to do direct damage back in the beta weekends… In pve and wvw I can get away with my axe build just because I can mix stats and make a much more powerful build then I can in s/t pvp.

tl/dr
Stats in pvp need to be mixable not just all on a neck and then runes.. It limits the build options immensely.

You’re asking for MORE condition stuff and can’t see why I’m suggesting this… The damage would be flat meaning usable for all specs and would be even more beneficial for condition necros due to the changes I’m suggesting….. Condition mancers can’t fight burrows/doors/bar stools so idk why you would rather have more condition damage when you could get some damage… The direct damage necros would get a little damage boost which they do need at the moment.. I don’t need to provide any numbers because anyone who has more then 1 character will all tell you necromancers damage is quiet a bit lower then the other classes.

I have 3 fully geared characters and no matter how I build my warrior or engineer the damage is always more then my necro… My necro only keeps up with other necro damage… The only thing I have on other classes is I can usually avoid getting 1 shot because DS…

I don’t see how it would be to strong for any weapon… Yea the aoe skills would be stronger but honestly necromancer aoe is lackluster vs other classes when it comes to direct damage aoe. Life siphon is a single target dagger skill with 300 range so I don’t see it as a issue since the damage is meh as it is.. Life transfer is a death shroud ability so signets don’t apply to it same goes for plague.

I don’t see it being a issue with locust swarm either due to it only hitting melee range…. If you look at numbers of every single class you would know we are behind by a decent bit especially on direct damage… This signet change wouldn’t be game breaking in the least unless it procced on conditions as well. Necromancer melee damage is much MUCH lower then other classes melee damage if you actually look at the numbers so all this could do is help.

And in case I wasn’t clear it wouldn’t proc on anything except the direct damage portion of attacks… meaning things like vampiric or conditions wouldn’t trigger it only the physical hits…. Rapid attacks would gain huge benefits from this but it wouldn’t be enough to be considered overpowered because most rapid attack skills are quiet a bit lower the other class equivalent skills in terms of scaling.

I main a axe build…. The issue with the no.1 I keep saying over and over is the lack of a chain attack….. It shouldn’t deal nearly as much damage as a melee weapon because IT’S NOT MELEE. It’s a 600 ranged weapon…. Honestly they need to up the range to 900 just to make people stop crying about it….. The damage is fine honestly it’s just the range and lack of chain on no.1 which I made a suggestion about awhile back… The post is here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Suggestions-for-the-axe/first#post911572

The lack of cleave isn’t that bad because we have utilities we can use for heavy aoe situations if we need heavy aoe damage….

And to the guy who said vampiric is not much more then a healing spec needs to realize that other classes while they can heal the heal they gain isn’t dealt as damage to the target… 25-37 unmitigated damage doesn’t seem like much but with rapid attacks this adds up very quickly and does stack with regen. Think of it like the direct damage version of bleed….. Because with the axe no.2 it looks like bleed ticks coming off of the target.

Shortcomings of the Necromancer

  • The worst profession at damaging objects
*The only profession with a weapon projectile that takes 4s to travel to max distance

You must be a condition necro because I have no issues fighting objects with how I build… I’m a axe/ds user….. I made a suggestion to change signet of spite that would actually help this out for condition users…. I know how painful it is when your worst enemy is a bar stool and you can’t fight it for crap because you’re condition spec…. I just favor my power spec now because it feels better and does the same damage as the old condition spec I used to run.

As for the max range thing that would be fixed if they simply made it so our projectile tracked targets again…. If not that they need to raise the projectile speed by 50-60%.

Yeah I was wondering about this. Have been running a Dagger/Focus and Staff wells build. Clerics is alright, but is there any Power/Toughness/Vit armor that isn’t Vigil members only that I can get my hands on? Any uppage in Power would go some way for me.

There’s multiple areas to get soldier armor… The AC armor has a soldier set pow/vit/tough

Necromancers are not only condition damage nor are they only direct damage… The 100 direct damage would fit both because to apply conditions you have to direct damage them and to deal damage in general you have to hit them….

This change would be for power based necros and condition necros… To apply a condition you have to hit the target and 90 condition damage would only be like 6-7 condition damage…. The direct 100 would actually give the condition user more damage over time….. It’s sustain…

Also this would allow condition necromancers the ability to KILL THE DREADED BAR STOOL OF DOOM!!! that usually takes them 5+ minutes to actually kill.

Signte of spite suggestion

I have a simple suggestion to make signet of spite more apealing… It would involve changing how it works though…

The passive would be changed from 90 power to 100 unmitigated damage that can’t crit but it can proc when attacking objects… The damage would not be affected by vulnerability or any damage modifiers.

Active would lose 1/2 the direct damage componet but the cooldown would be lowered from 90 seconds to 60 seconds and the duration of all of the conditions would go up to 8 seconds…

The thought process to this would be the passive would be a small damage buff overall and would allow condition necromancers to do a little extra damage to objects… And the cooldown reduction/condition duration buff would make the active more reliable as a offensive/defensive button….

To scale the passive as leveling it could start off at 20 damage and gain 1 damage per level… So if you got it at level 5 it would deal 25 damage per hit…. The conditions would be a flat 8 seconds and would be able to be extended with any +% condition duration runes/traits.

I just figured this would be a decent suggestion to change the signet because it would be giving that feelings of barbs from guild wars 1 and also make it a bit more appealing as a choice… Atm I feel like it’s useless and only good in wvw popping it and using epidemic… The other signets give powerful passives that make you decide between keeping a constant decent benefit or poping it for a powerful boost and losing the benefit till the cooldown is up… Signet of spite at the moment though just doesn’t balance out the activate is 1000x better then the passive…

orcs-orges (they are almost the same thing) dwarves are too cliche and orcs too but gw2 has already norn and human which is the same thing so think a little about adding orcs.

Dwarves are in the lore and there’s still a few that are turned to stone in game…. Ogres are already in game as they were in gw1. Orcs just don’t belong in the setting really… ogres are good enough.

They need to add some new modes… Assault/defend like the old fort aspenwood and escort Jade quarry and a classic capture the flag mode would add a ton of potential for the pvp for me…. They need to have multiple types of modes and not just tournament pvp and capture the point….

Anyone else agree ?

ETA on xmute legendary fix.

I remember reading about this awhile back but since I’m getting close to getting my legendary and I don’t like the stats it has I wanna be able to xmute it without it losing the legendary status….

Anyway can we have a eta on when the fix to keep the item legendary even when xmuted ? Also when the fix is put in place will it activate retroactive like if I get my legendary tomorrow and xmute it thus turning it into a exotic would it be turned back into a legendary when the fix is put in place ?

edit

To those who don’t know if you xmute a legendary weapon with a exotic weapon at the moment it keeps the skin but loses the legendary status… This is a known bug and that’s why I’m posting this because I’m concerned about it affecting me in a negative way.

The closest thing to a orc you’re going to see in the game is a ogre and that’s a race they could add as playable in the future…. There’s no 100% chance of that but it’s still a chance… Same goes for skritt and hylik and a few other races… I just wish tengu was playable at launch.

Aesthetic REQUESTS

I would like to make some aesthetic requests about the armor…. As 99.9% of your player base I’m sure noticed there’s not much in the selection of armor looks.. As a necromancer player I’m depressed about the lack of any real necromatic looking armor outside of drybones and orr armor…. 99% of the armor looks like it was ment for mesmer or elementalist… There’s no real head altering pieces the majority are just hoods or circlets no real tattoo’s or blind folds outside of seer or anything…. If you wanna hide your face there’s not much of a selection and honestly I wish they had some heads that all armor classes could use like the dread mask from gw1..

I have the same complaint for medium armor but in a more no commando looks and it’s like a trench coat simulator for medium armor users. Heavy armor I don’t have many issues with there’s a decent selection but it wouldn’t hurt for more….

Anyone who reads this I’m sure will want more selection to so please post get this noticed let them know that we wanna have more looks in game!

edit

A suggestion for Legendary weapons as well….. They should have more legendary effects added based on class…. This would be a bit of work but the amount of work that legendary weapons require it’s kinda depressing how the animations look for some classes especially engineers who use kits 90% of the time they don’t even get to have anything to show off that they have a legendary..

Necromancer face pieces on a few races.

The Necromancer face pieces on human, asura and sylvari all look very very lackluster when you compare them to the norn and charr…. The asura chance to a cat eye look with the trickster demon face but the rest look just like the other 2 on human and sylvari..

I would like to request a revamp of how the face pieces look for these 3 races so that they have a more unique look for the necromancer faces….. If not a remake at least allow the human face pieces to look like the norn and the sylvari/asura to be revamped because at the moment they are so plane…

Please for the love of god people +1 this because just glancing at them on the character creation screen the charr and norn face paints are 100000000000x better then the human/sylvari/asura…. Give the face some love.

If you’re looking at using axe and don’t mind running with different utilities I can message you with the build I use to great effect it gives decent solo and support play options…. I don’t focus on wells with it though because I just favor other abilities.

I main a axe necro that’s why I’m offering.

For a sustained direct damage build you can use axe/focus with a light focus on death shroud so you can pop in for a little bit of burst damage… You can do heavy aoe with a scepter/dagger and staff / well build that focus on heavy sustained aoe..

I run a axe/focus bip/signet support build for my necro getting frostfang atm and enjoy it… The no.1 is lackluster but helps the groups by a decent bit and the no.2 can pull some nice numbers if you build right. Anyway like the guy above me said it depends if you’re after sustained or burst damage and single target or aoe also melee or ranged…. Though melee is only 1 choice with the dagger mh.

Axe: The Unloved Middle Child

in Necromancer

Dakiaris.2798

The axe does more damage then the scepter in pve/wvw but in s/t pvp it’s lower due to not getting a mix of stats like you can do in pve/wvw…. The thing they need to do is give it more of a sustained damage feel to the no.1 in the form of a chain attack… The no.2 is a life force generation machine which is fine as is and the no.3 while you seem to think it’s meh is actually decent the cripple is a fairly long duration on a short cooldown and it’s aoe….

The retaliation on no.3 though should be replaced with vigor honestly the retaliation feels out of place on it and unholy feast on 1 gave more of a player buff to yourself not a offensive buff.

Curses

in Necromancer

Posted by: Dakiaris.2798

Dakiaris.2798

I’m talking about the real curses from guild wars 1 like barbs and spiteful spirit…. These gave the best attrition in the game because the enemies had to decide to play defense or offense when they got affected by these…..

I find it funny how a.net said “we don’t want hexes in the game” yet they do have mechanics that mimic them warriors offhand sword no.4 is the best example of this… You “impale” the target to gain a bleed every few seconds and can be reactivated to deal a direct damage spike to the target…… Really why does the necromancer not have abilities like this ?

Anyone who played guild wars 1 knows how curses worked they were really attrition mechanics on most of them.. Most gave the enemy the choice of attack them and be at the mercy of the hex or play defense for a few seconds waiting for the hex to end…..

Honestly I could see some of the hexes working out in gw2 such as barbs and mark of pain… To balance them out just make it so the necromancer themselves can proc it and no minions/other players are able to proc them… Put them on max of a 10 second duration with a 25-45 second cooldown…. The way the necro feels right now it fails at attrition and doesn’t give any tough decisions for a enemy… All they do in s/t pvp is aoe denial for the points and in pve it doesn’t matter much because any build plays about the same but everyone usually defaults to the 100% condition/survival based well builds which honestly are boring.

Rework the necro give us curses back and allow us to actually be a attrition class that makes the enemy make hard decisions as to attack or defend so we can use more then just condition/bunker builds in pvp and give more options for pve.

TL;DR
Warrior has a hex like ability on oh sword no.4… We should have some curse abilities that use that mechanic so we can play more like gw1.
