Weapon 1: does 50 damage, every second
Weapon 2: does 100 damage every 2 seconds

Weapon 1 hits you multiple times in 4 seconds.
Weapon 2 hits you only 2 times in 4 seconds

Both do the same damage to you

Faster weapons arent hitting you any harder over the course of them hitting you multiple times than a slower weapon is hitting you for with fewer hits. You just SEE damage numbers popping up over your head more frequently than with slower weapons.

No reason fast weapons should be penalized more in the case of confusion.

Cast 1 blind on weapon = 150 damage every 2 seconds
Same applies to blocks or aegis..
This is why we need confusion and retalliation, because the counter what blinds and blocks cant.

trying to use one to justify the need for the other, doesnt really work

On that matter however, retailiation should do MORE damage to slower attacks, than faster ones for the same reasons as Im supporting for confusion.

Both retaliation and confusion should “hurt” players in a balanced and equal fashion regardless of their weapon speed.

So if someone with a 1 second attack takes 100 damage from retailiation, a person with a 2 second attack should take 200 damage. Over the course of 2 seconds, both take the same equal damage from retailiation.

Yeah you dont get what Im saying at all.

Hopefully people will realize they need to retal and stability stack to beat AGG, (and bring a lot of dps as well)

Id just be happy if they scaled confusion damage based on your attack speed.

Confusion is the bane of short bow users. 3 stacks of confusion from a cond geared player = 1000+ damage per action you do. Shortbow = about 2 actions per second. Thats 2000+ damage a second you take just because your #1 ability is on auto attack by default, and clicking the ground to break target isnt always 100% responsive. Imagine what 8+ stacks would do in this situation.

Even blizzard was able to grasp the concept of damage coefficients scaling differently based on how fast or slow you attacked. At the very least, Anet should make it so that each stack of confusion should only be able to apply damage no more than ONCE per second.

I know it may seem like Im switching sides here but I’m not really. Retalliation and confusion are the only ways to counter hard, fast hitting skills (like ranger SB and thief unload). We already have blocks, aegis, and blinds to protect against single even higher hitting skills so we needed a way to counter the fast lower hitting (but still hitting a lot), and one of these ways is confusion.

People can still beat confu builds (I’ve never lost to one either) but it still
needs to be nerfed 50% in WvW just like it was in sPVP. idc how they do that as long as it happens

Mesmers can stack 6 stacks easily pressing f2,
no channel there. Up to 11 with the channel but if I already had 6 stacks on me and I didn’t have any dodges I’d be pretty kittened. Oh geez, what of you had to go against more than one person??? Like TWO! An engi and a Mesmer, and the engi keeps perma burn, poison bleeds cripple etc etc while try both stack confusion. You can’t do anything LOL insta death. Not to mention my favorite the warrior Mesmer combo where a Mesmer stacks confu on you then a warrior bursts you to 0 in one 100b because you can’t move with 11 stacks of confu and an immobilize!

In T5 you see mostly small groups of 5-10 players roaming. If you see 10-15 here, it means somebody’s aiming for a tower. If you see more than 15+ people in a zerg, somebody’s keep is being aimed at. Though sometimes it gets really ugly and you see zergs of 50+ people (not even kidding, that’s when you KNOW kitten’s going down).

According to this it seems t5 is your least zergy tier (maybe t6). T8 easily rolls about 50 man zergs on an hourly basis.

Iaughed so hard when you said its the weakest condition. It does one of three things depending on the player:
1) they insta die from continuing skills
2) they completely stop attacking and are basically “dazed” for up to 10s, which is insanely OP in in structured group fights
3) it’s cleansed, which more often than not is the only cleanse the player has, meaning you could setup a condi burst with all the conditions you want and he couldn’t do anything

State of the game has absolutely nothing to do with WvW, only s/tpvp. However Devon is tenfold more involved in WvW than Habib and Mike were out together, so we’ll probably get a response.

My buddy runs condi engi and every time he prybars and pistols or whatever for 7 stacks of confu (while stacking 6 other condis simultaneously, making it impossible to remove) killing people in less than a second,, he just goes “Confusion is so kittening OP in WvW”. Nothing else, no emotion.

Honestly we need to balance it the same as sPVP, there’s no kittening reason it should be otherwise.

I love when I cast 2 skills before I even get the
confusion and by the time they’re actually casted I just took 50% (6-8k) damage
from confusion bombs.

I think T5 might actually be a great place for roaming. Tier 8 does not have many people NOT in the Zerg.

Once again, SF never needed to be “better players” because they always vastly outnumbered everyone. That’s still the case, so why would they change now? It’s not their fault ANet had a kitten stupid rating system.

I can see when you get up there in levels, but level 24 is quite underpowered…I can murder people on my higher level toons but the lower ones I just hope to do enough damage for kill credit.

I quite amazed how 1 little post can turn into a flame war. Earlier you said that you should read all the posts before posting, i believe you should take your own advise. I only stated that i was killing ET and FC 80s, which to some degree i am, because some FC decided to try and gloat that he was killing our green arrows. From what i can see the poster runs in an organized five man so killing a group of green arrows isnt much of accomplishment.

You’d be surprised how powerful a low level toon can be. If you get full masterwork gear/rare at higher levels and then get the runes and sigls you get some nice stats going. At one point i had 1700 condition damage, 2500 armor and 22k hp.

Eles arent op. They’re good bunkers but kitten who gives a crap. Im mostly speaking of wvw when I speak of mesmers being OP anyway.

Engis are not UP in pvp but they are in pve. Rangers are good in spvp but not wvw.. necros can be decent at some things but I agree they’re UP comapred to everything else.
On topic: There’s no doubt the mesmer is OP. They just have access to too many things to not be. They can do heavy damage where the normal ways of countering heavy damage (i.e. retalliation confusion blinds etc) don’t make ANY DIFFERENCE because they do their damage from phantasms or shatters. Not to mention they’re impossibly hard to keep still.
Yeah yeah mesmers suck in the wrong hands, but kitten man, we’re talking about everyone else who have their classes in the RIGHT HANDS. In this case the mesmer is just exceedingly OP.

Sure, and most of us get that. But here’s our shoes: T7 matches have been extremely close for weeks now and we probably have the most balanced tier out of the entire NA ladder.

Don’t worry there will be plenty of time for all that in T8.

Also I laugh because you guys obviously expect any server that busts out of t8 by itself to crush t7. So what then happens if they almost do

T8 was skewed BECAUSE of Kain and Devona. Honestly
though SF is performing better than DR did and, at least for FC, the rest of t8 have improved in numbers (and obviously strategy and organization) since then.
