Yeah really annoying, yesterday we lost 350-500 on a full 4v5. We played exceptionally well we just couldn’t possibly win.

Cuz one team draws the short straw and gets a r1x/2x and it’s auto lose since they can’t do anything correctly

The knock back bypasses the block and knocks both me and the ally back. Also,the block works for all allies against Earthshaker which is a very similar skill.

Am I so ambiguous you guys can’t read what I said… specifically talking about the guardian downed state #2 skill, which is not unblockable because I’ve done stomps with aegis a million times against them.

guy not attacking. I guarantee it’s a bug.

Yes I mean that USING mace 3 skill (I don’t know if you missed this part, it’s in the title). This works against most aoe ccs like hammer warr skills, so it should work against downed.
if you didn’t know, guard made 3 blocks the next attack on you or any of your allies in range, but the guard downed skill interupts and bypasses it.

ATM some classes downed 2 skills bypass mace 3 block on guardian (notably the guardian blowback). This is kind of annoying bc there’s no real reason for it, and if a buddy is stomping and I don’t have stab up, mace 3 should be able to block the interupt. Just a quick fix that I’d appreciate.

If you’ve been practicing “for months” and you still haven’t attained a spot in the top 100 in a dead tpvp scene, you must be doing something wrong. Just sayin’.

And for the stupid WvW vs Pvper thief discussion, people like Wild Bill run cheesey, shadow art condi thief specced to 1vX scenarios. I recall Wild Bill trying to enter the tpvp scene, getting stomped then going back into wvw. I’ve personally played against him when he was actually using a proper tpvp build and after stomping his group,I’d say Caed + co are miles ahead.

ok you got me it’ll be about a month by the time the tourny comes around, in which 2/3 the time we 2-3man q so we lose a lot. not everyone qs with their team or with top 20 players 100% of the time.

I agree with this. And who is to say someone is known or not? I doubt he knows Karmy and his SW guildies, or June guild, or UC, or many, many others who definitely have a decent chance of beating everyone, including “known” teams.

Also, I believe that Anet guys would organise this much, much better. At least they are not teenagers and have way more experience with this. I hope they will get inspired and host the next one, properly.

But I still have hope that this one will work out. Let’s see if it will be what it was advertised to be or it will be some type of yet another boring invitational with same teams as always.

The problem is that the barrier to entry for them is huge and they tend to love rewards. If this tournament could bring these people, and others who aren’t as talented, into spvp (finally) then we could really see esports get going.

Secondly the reason Pvers dont play PvP is because they are inclined to continue clicking their skills. As far as WvW, there is little to no skill required in zergs and roamers are still not near the lvl of pvpers. WvWers rely on broken stats and gear, and are quite inferior to PvP. Even guilds like Apex, which was orignally PvP only has transitioned to WvW because they were not top tier pvpers. However in WvW they are very good.. You WvWers and PvErs will soon learn your place in the skill heirachy.

1v1 thief <> good spvp thief. If they can’t play well with a team they are just a scrub. You do realize most spvp players don’t play builds with the intent of winning 1v1s? They play builds for team comp and then try to win with it in any scenario (teamfight/1v1). So yeah, let’s make a big deal about thieves who dedicate their build for 1v1s winning against thieves who play versatile builds for actually winning the game mode we play under. Maybe when DM comes up, then bring it up.

Back on topic, I don’t see why we can’t push this tournament later and put in qualifiers. It’s not like the rewards are gonna disappear if we wait.

You do know most of the thieves from WvW run Shadow Arts? They can’t live without that trait line, take that off of them and they can’t even live for 10 seconds. Not bashing on all WvW Players, some of them are good, but most of them rely on over 100% crit damage lol and run PVT/Cavaliers.

Ok I am very scared of this “randomization” thing Blu mentioned… my team was recently put together and hasn’t participated in any previous events, yet we are expecting to seriously compete in this competition. If we don’t get in the tourny after a month of work due to pulling the short stick it will be extremely frustrating.

you have to be able to go in and out of kits immediately and get their effects off as fast as possible. I’d say engi is the worst class to playw ith lag. with thief you can at least combo teleports/leaps with skills and have the game do the work for you. with engi, you have to get into kits fast and land grenades correctly, which is impossible with lag

A DPS Guard shouldn’t have a problem 1v1ing any class. If you’re better than your opponent you will win, regardless of their build.

If you’re a support/bunker Guard that’s a different story. You’ll need some assistance to fight off a build meant for 1v1.

Not sure if that rant was aimed at me Lordsicky, I spend my time these days powning top 100 terror necros and hambows alike on my dps guard.

But I only have two condi cleanses and lyssa is one of them. I can spec for two more but this makes the matchup substantially weaker due to the drop in dps. It’s not a hard counter at all.

Despite my last post… our team has decided we want an engi for our final player for our team which we plan to bring to Tourny of Legends. Our team is fairly successful so we are looking for experienced engis (preferably main engi) who can be on fairly a lot. We play mostly from NA prime time to late at night.

I would replace AR with “tool belt ability removes 1 condition” (F1,F2, F3, F4) and move it to master tier. For a normal condition build this means 1 condition removal every ~8 sec.

Once again. We are the worst condi removal class in the complete game. And you ask for removing the last possiblity to have a chance against other condi classes.

Sure the decap engi is bad for soloQ. Sure it should be nerfed. But go and play a condi engi and face a condi necro, a condi mesmer, an other engineer, a condi warrior. You have to play like Ostricheggs on dope to beat condi heavy classes with a normal condi engineer.

I really pray that the devs are cool enough to see the problems of the spvp NON decap engineers.

Not if you want to be any good for your team…. engis have condi clear on healing turret and elixir gun 5. The fact that you have a condition clear in your heal skill without sacrificing anything else says alot. Soooo once again Mesmers say hi. Plus right now you still have automated response. :P

Please do not presume to speak for all players. As a PvP player, I disagree with you, and I know others that do as well.

If you want to turns this into a numbers game, please do keep in mind that the vast majority of PvP players play PvE and WvW as well. We definitely want to make the game fun and enjoyable for PvP-only players as well, but we need to keep a broader context when designing systems.

DPS Guardians are extremely effective against thieves. They have ample access to blinds, blocks (Aegis/Shelter/Focus O-H), burning, retaliation, counter-burst, sustain, invulnerability, and a decent amount of mobility with meditation/Great sword leap. It’s a very unforgiving match up for the thief.

Well dude when you fought me it was pretty much the attrition game. You don’t have that much consistent condi application so it’s half the time me trying to damage you while you just tank it and the other half avoiding half the applications and cleansing the rest.

Only like R31 but over 1500 hours on my guardian in WvW and spvp (no I don’t zerg and I hardly even know what PVE is). Looking for a good team since perfecting support guardian isn’t working well with pick up teams. I have TS and a good mic. Very experienced in fights although kind of new to bunker guard, usually play hybrid or full dps. So far it’s been pretty easy to understand but I definitely am not the best at it (yet!). If you’re scared about my rank trust me I will surprise you. Thanks in advance.
