I’m guessing the 26th along with LWS3? So 2 more weeks of boring Unranked… time to take a break.
Soooo… no patch until the 26th? Zzzzz…
I remember people begging for that to be implemented in TSW and when they finally did it was awe full. It would load builds randomly from other chars or classes.
But I agree it would be a great thing to have a 1 click load build ability.
No idea what TSW is, but seems like what you describe is isolated to their bad dveelopment. RIFT had a great build template system. And I believe GW2 has the capability to do it easily, especially if only catered to the PvP system. Alas, it’s marketing and sales 101 – inconvenience players so they buy extra character slots.
The trait is actually working as intended (25% chance to apply torment), but the tooltip is incredibly inaccurate.
That said, I don’t think it’s GM worthy with a 15s ICD. How does 10s sound?
Even with a reduced ICD it wouldn’t compete with Diabolic Inferno. You can spam DI every time it goes of ICD with Mallyx elite, and Burn is much stronger than Torment. The two traits are similar in function and DI wins hands down. The original idea of the misrepresented tooltip actually sounds like it could compete with DI, maybe copy 3-5 conditions, increase ICD to 20s.
What is this 1000g item you speak of? I know Gift of Something costs a lot to make, but when I made my wings in Season 2 I only had ~800g on me and still had ~300g left after making it. As others have noted you can get considerable gold by just playing PvP, also a lot of the materials from PvP loot boxes required for making the Gift, and buy the rest from TP.
Contrary to what ArenaNet is saying, it is pretty broken. They, of course, will never admit it, but worse than all is slow or will never fix it at all. I’ve seen this happen many times, and also more than frequently 4-mans being put against complete pugs.
Also, slightly off topic, but … I reached legendary in the past two seasons and already have my wings, so I thought I would play Ranked for fun, right? Nope… in a single day I have seen people quit playing in the first 10 seconds of the game, I’ve seen people rush lord intentionally over and over again, ADMITTING to throwing a game because they didn’t care (I’ve literally lost a whole tier in Ruby because of that one same person INTENTIONALLY throwing a game, as much as I wanted to avoid him by not queuing right away), and same people over and over just “DC’ing”… where’s the fun in that… I think Season 3 is more toxic than ever. I am glad I have my wings, time to take a break.

This is really bad design.
I can understand the thought process by giving 5-man premade teams shorter que times, but it puts others at a big disadvantage.
Here’s a suggestion, only pair up 5-man premade teams with other teams of double duo and/or triple together. But never alone against a single duo que.
•Precision Strike: This skill no longer targets enemies using stealth effects.
Ok, fair enough, but I think Precision Strike is still bugged where it hits dead players.
Yes, whatever damage you’re receiving will get converted to healing. Same with Rite of the Great Dwarf, will cut damage in half, so you will receive less healing if you pop infuse during that effect. If you have poison on, you will be healed 33% less.
There’s already an option to see how much damage each skill did to you after each death, but it would be really nice if we could actually see that kind of data at the end of the match, how much damage each skill did.
What irks me the most is that ArenaNet is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Pro League, which supposedly is a marketing approach in itself to bring in more people into PvP, yet not lifting a finger to make PvP better and not stale, aside from the recent map changes which has been overdue for years.
Same reason they let everyone and their cat reach Legendary in season 2
More… Llamas?
But seriously what would you like to see on that vendor?
Serious question… Why are Mini Llamas able to be purchased from the League Vendor? They were the only thing that we could use as “Prestige” to show off our skill level, how well we did in ESL/AG tournaments, etc. So now every casual player has a llama…
At least this is how I feel.
So all the smart kitten Revs are running hammer now, because Assassins Annihilation hits for 2k+. Can we get a hotfix?
Skyhammer
Good changes so far – feels better than the original. But I still think the many elevated platforms favor ranged classes more than melee.
Spiritwatch
Good changes so far – brings more focus on point teamfights and skirmishes; 2 min Orb respawn time seems well paced.
P.S. Nerf mesmer. Bring back Power shatter back. My grandma plays Condi Mes and beats my dad a cousin 2v1.
This seasons matchmaking has nothing to do with skill, contrary to what Anet is saying.. it’s noobs fighting noobs and getting to legendary. It’s a grind.
I do think that matchmaking is “broken” this season. I felt the games were more competitive last season, contrary to what they are saying now. Getting to legendary last season felt challenging and rewarding, this season I had to play a lot more games which majority of felt like a flop every time. I think… and hear me out.. ANet tries to get a lot more people on board for PvP, with the current matchmaking, we see a lot of “PvE” people in Legendary… this season is just a grind, and matchmaking has no correlation to skill. ANet please don’t lie.
“you’reselves”… ouch, my brain.
Happens too often with ranger pets too, once I was stuck 3 times in a row. Very annoying and game-breaking.
PSA: Play your main, then you can switch character during match before the game ends, so it would count toward that character. Easy. (Just make sure you have a good lead, so you don’t screw your team if you load too slowly).
A double pip is awarded after losing 3 ranked matches in a row, however in this case I was only awarded 1 pip. After the match ended which we won, I double checked to make sure that only 1 pip was awarded. The system did not award an extra pip, and there was no message indicating it.
I forgot to take a screenshot of the post-match breakdown unfortunately, but a screenshot confirming last 3 defeats is attached.
Definitely feels like a bug.
500-500 draw games happen more often than you think, but for some mind boggling reason the system awards the pip to the team that has the most individual score, and the other loses a pip. Now we all know individual score doesn’t carry much weight. Both teams fight tooth and nail to a draw, yet one team is punished. Either give both teams a pip, or none at all, it would make more sense.
Nothing it seems.
In Season 1 we saw multiple patches that attempted to adjust league and matchmaking.
Season 2 is stale. It’s broken as kitten.
See you in Season 3, maybe…
Chaith, Hahhaha, you have no idea, stop talking out of your kitten , you’re disconnected from reality and that’s fine, just stop talking.
i think you can just trust Anet and take their word that the system is based for skill and unworthy players wont be able to grind anymore unless they abuse MMR in some way (like many did in s1)
Really, then how do you explain that I had a 100+ losing game streak and got stuck at emerald tier 1 for 3 weeks, and tanked my mmr/win/loss ratio, and had to spend countless days teaching brand new players how to pvp against pro league teams of 3 and 4 while I was in solo q. At that time, people told me, after years of pvping on gw, that I was in the tier/div I belonged.
I am now 3 pips from diamond. Tell me, am I where I belong now in ruby cuz of my skill, or was I stuck in emerald tier 1 w. a humongous losing streak for weeks cuz I’m really a tier 1 emerald skill level player? Which is it, cuz it can’t be both, and my skill alone cant explain both a rise to almost diamond (which I hope to hit before end of seas) and a huge losing streak that kept me near the bottom for weeks of very frustrating and demoralizing play.
There are many posts, including this one, which clearly show the system is designed to have losses beget losses, and wins beget wins ad infinitum. To punish losing players by stacking the deck against them, is cruel. Even we assume everyone at the bottom, or suffering a losing streak deserves it, the system penalizes them further – its kinda like take all the worst people, throwing them in a pit, throwing in potentially infinitely better opponents (according to all of you naysayers) and then tying anvils on the backs of the losers and telling them to fight their way out of the pit. This is what people complain about the inherent unfairness of the coded system itself. Get a clue.
You got to diamond, you may have taken the salty road, bare foot, with a 300lbs bag on your back, but you persevered. Probably learned a thing or two about carrying two bodies to victory.
You will always climb out of MMR hell and get your max as long as you’re trying, and don’t give up.
kitten this game. Evan Lesh give me my pips back.
I just went Tier 6 Diamond to Tier 1, in 1 Day, in 1 kittening day… solo queuing… hoooow? kitten this game.
Hello,
I’m trying to record some of my game play, but none of the video recording software is working…
I’ve tried Bandicam, Fraps, and nVidia ShadowPlay that comes with my video card. None of them work… I can see the FPS counters appearing in game, but hot keys to record never work. I used to play RIFT for a bit, and can tell you that both Fraps and ShadowPlay worked.
Anyone experienced anything similar? This is driving me nuts.
Perhaps give heroes stronger abilities or some interesting mechanics, right now the abilities seem rather weak, and heroes are chosen/summoned based on their defense stat.
If you’re AFK or in a match and someone invites you, and if the invite goes away when you return, there’s no way to tell who invited you.
Can we see who invited you?
Hello Revs,
I main a Power Rev running Herald/Devastation/Retribution, but I know a lot of people prefer Invocation over Retribution. Following some of the builds from the Pro League players also shows that majority go with Inv. with only one or two running Ret.
Can anyone provide some constructive feedback on why one feels Inv. is better than Ret. in PvP? Personally I see only two worth-while traits in Inv.: Ferocious Aggression, and Roiling Mists, both a damage increase – +7% dmg +30% crit chance. Is it that much worth it to take over the defensive traits in Ret., where I feel every single minor and major trait is useful.
I know it may all come down to personal preference, play style and play skill, but if anyone has any insight that may potentially sway my mind, please share.
Thanks!

Completely disappointed with Season 2.
The whole “it’s more skill-based now” is a complete and utter bullkitten. The grind is still there, and for some people it’s easier than before – they just get lucky. I know people who for the majority of their games solo queued and went on a 50 games winstreak. Don’t tell me it’s not luck. Something is definitely very wrong with matchmaking this season. I was Diamond T5 last season, the games were equally matched, less raging overall… this time around I can’t get out of Ruby because I get complete monkeys on my team who never PvP’ed before. My winrate of ~70% dropped to ~40%.
Edit: before anyone says “git gud”, I consider myself an above average player with 6500 pvp games played, I multi-class, mechanically-skilled, map-aware, and always doing my best. My team placed in top 25 end of last season, and in AG semi-finals.

On rare occasions when my ping goes higher than 150-200 (my avg. normal ping is 80), everything just starts being so sluggish and unresponsive, it’s impossible to play a fast-action class like Revenant or Thief with such ping. I’d not recommend doing it with your ping. If that’s the only ping you get, I suggest trying playing slower bunker classes.
I got to Diamond last season, Ruby now (will hopefully hit Diamond this weekend) and my final League Elite achievement says 2/4 divisions crossed. So I think I need to get to Legendary to make the wings. I’m not certain if I could have made it earlier, since I kinda slacked off in S1 on the achieves, e.g. kept progressing while forgetting to complete the tiers not buying the essence/wings, etc.
1 win away from Diamond, then system decides to put me with the worst players ever… no words to describe it. On top of it, it puts with them again and again even if I try and wait it out. Solo que is terrible.
Well said, all good stuff. Can’t upvote enough.
+1
So… what changed?
We had a guy on our team who later realized that he was in raid gear, felt useless, and decided to leave. He disconnected and wasn’t in the match till the end. Yet everyone still lost a pip.
What gives? Before only a DC would lose a pip.
New matchmaking is horrible.
I’ve been over 60% win rate last season, now down to 40% in a matter of days. More losses than wins. Teams full of necros. Teammates completely clueless, and I get the same people every single time, even when trying to avoid them by not queuing again right away.
Zzzz…
“Search and Rescue!” is not OP. It is quite counter-able. I’ve seem some incredible gameplay from the other team where they would jump the Druid with CC like Slick Shoes and heavy cleave as soon as the body is downed and TP’ed. So maybe, just maybe, you should adapt instead of whining and tunnel-visioning.
Same! At first I thought maybe I was hallucinating and didn’t properly count/remember my pips, but now that I see others reporting the same issue – I am pretty confident that I am missing at least a couple of pips from won Ranked matches.
My Well of Eternity says the Initial Self-Heal is 3230, but it only heals for around 2600. The Ending Heal seems to work as described, it’s only the Initial heal that seems to be either mis-described or bugged. Anyone experiencing this?
Hey all,
I’m a returning player (started again since BWE3), but played since release/beta and quit into a year. I was PvP Rank 52 when I quit, 64 now.
I’m looking for an sPvP-oriented team or guild, based in NA. I am from West Coast myself so on pacific time zone. Looking for like-minded, respectful folks who like to run ranked arenas, and use either TS3 and/or Mumble.
I work 9-5 but pretty flexible and open rest of the days/weekends, and usually play everyday.
I main Mesmer, and planning to go Chronomancer once expansion hits. My other secondary professions are Engineer and Thief, but I’ve not yet touched them since my return, since I am still getting back into the groove with my Mesmer.
TLDR: returning rank 64+ Mesmer LF sPvP team.
Thanks.

A goldmine indeed. Take my words with a grain of salt, as I have quit GW2 over a month ago, just because PvP sucks terribly, but IMHO all the NA teams who are boasting high QP are full of themselves, there is NO real competition, it’s mostly just really bad pugs. I miss the beta days when we had some guild casts of guild vs guild tournaments (both EU/NA), whatever happened to that?
NA PvP is dead!
It’s a 1200 range teleport on a 5 second cooldown when traited. It can be used while stunned. It can blink the mesmer up onto unreachable ledges.
1200 range meaning it can be used/activated when enemy is within 1200 range, the actual teleport distance is more like 400.
There are already TWO established guilds that have the same purpose, one is Extended Contact List [iPuG] and the other is Crossfire Gaming [CG]. If people want to join such guilds to make it easier to find people to run tPvP with, they should join already-established guilds, making another one just makes it worse and harder to find people.
Short answer – no point, apparently. The real reward was sense of accomplishment when winning against good teams in tpvp, but even that is fading with PvP dying.
Just to be clear, Phase Retreat does NOT break stun or immobilize, all it does is teleport you while the CC effects remain active on you.
They already tried balancing it before and only made it worse.
Bump for justice. I, too, have quit PvP altogether and will wait several months before coming back to see if ArenaNet is doing anything productive.
Quite frankly I am frustrated with their lack of or vague communication and overly long periods between patches; “when it’s ready” philosophy doesn’t quite work when the game is already released. PvP has become bland and boring, and there are still tons of unfixed bugs.
Peace. ArenaNet needs to get their kitten together.

Turns out, sPvP gear is character-bound when placed into your PvE bank. So don’t do it. Due to said limitations, I was trying to remake my character and since there already was an exact item in my PvP locker, I decided to place it into my PvE bank. Here’s the problem though – when I deleted that character and went to pick up the stuff from the PvE bank on my new character, I could NOT withdraw the items because they are bound to my deleted character. The items are now stuck in my bank.
