So we have lots of new interesting things to do every 2 weeks, which is great, but I still find I’m constantly frustrated or saddened by things which either urgently need fixing/improving or are minor ‘world polish’ items which seem to have been ignored.
It might be helpful to gather everyone’s thoughts into one place in the hope that the most requested are commented on or looked at, so I would like to hear other players top 5 in order of importance – mine are as follows:
1: Camera/Field of View
Absolutely highlighted when trying to play the Gauntlet. Why oh why is it not possible to pan out the camera to ‘Jormag event’ view anytime. The problem also affects Jump puzzles and any area where you have overhangs or are enclosed.
2: Targeting
I have to join a party to target lock and closest target is just a complete joke – the merest hint of an obstacle between you and the closest target and the game defaults to selecting the nearest available moa.
3: Dungeon auto party
In addition to being able to enter as a party we need a simple system similar to random PvP – Select dungeon or fractal level, click enter and you are put into a party with other random players.
4: Hair loss
In a game where cosmetic items are promoted as a badge of achievement, the headgear making you bald issue should have been sorted out long ago.
5: Pet management
Ranger specific, but very annoying – the pet name feature may as well be removed for all the good it is.
It’s been horrible all day
Completely agree with everything the OP said – nice post. For me Camera issues are one of the main bugbears with the game and the flaws with it make this and other great content almost unplayable and very frustrating.
One other point the OP missed though which has been an issue since launch and which constantly frustrates is the awful targeting. Closest target is a complete joke and the inability to be able to lock a target without joining a party is another massive issue which should have been sorted months ago. The system is so poor that at one point during one of the gauntlet fights while trying to re-establish a target lock, I managed to target on of the Centaurs in the area below!
I noticed that the loading screen times when you waypoint or enter a new zone seem to have increased quite significantly since this update.
Any know what the reason for this is?
just keep bluffing, if he belches use heal and belch (order doesn’t matter too much), it’s better to have your bluff belched than your heal, if he doesn’t belch quickly he just drinks himself down as he doesn’t bluff himself. I won’t deny the norn requires luck as you need to get lucky to belch one of heals in the battle or you’ll lose for sure.
Thanks for the advice but this is not a personal ’it’s too hard – I can’t do it’ whine – I have already beaten him on 3 characters – My point is – It wasn’t in the least bit fun, Anet should be fully aware of that from the number of threads, views and posts by others and why do they stubbornly refuse to comment or change things when something is clearly wrong.
I personally would have much more respect for the Dev’s if someone would man up and communicate honestly with players, whether that’s ‘stop moaning and don’t play it if you don’t enjoy it’ – ’We’re leaving the boosters as is because we need to make money to fund development’ or ‘We simply do not have time or money to fix minor issues that don’t cripple gameplay’
Any of the above would IMHO be better PR and would likely be met with much more positive response than simply ignoring players.
You mean using the booster that gives 9 hp a second vs these people?
Rejuvenation Booster gives 100hp a second at lvl 80, but not having tried one, you may well be correct as it could scale to level.
I just find this particular situation very saddening, The whole 2 week new content idea is inspired and on the whole, all of it has been superbly engaging – particularly this latest release. Yet, far from players lauding their efforts (which they rightly deserve) someone is badly dropping the ball on virtually every release by not responding quickly when huge numbers of players have concerns about (usually) one particular aspect.
Last release it was the difficult dungeon that no-one wanted to play and the fact that the game lacks the tools to locate those players that do and this time it’s Adnar and to a lesser extent (and much more difficult to solve) the problem of Lag in the racing game.
For a number of reasons:
1) He is still bugged and despite numerous reports of one the most obvious problems (Sig move carrying over to the next game) No response – No fix
2) Maybe I’m being cynical, but how convenient that a fix for food items was almost immediate yet they ‘forgot’ about Rejuvenation boosters – How much have sales of Black Lion keys to open chests gone up I wonder?
Since using the boosters provides an even greater effect than the best food items and that was considered an exploit – the fact that players can/are using boosters was posted almost immediately after the ‘fix’ and yet no further fix has been forthcoming.
One can only assume that this particular ‘exploit’ is acceptable because the only way to open the RNG chests containing the boosters is to purchase Gems to buy Keys.
3) Finally – Despite overwhelming (make that unanimous) criticism of the sheer difficulty which can not be overcome by skill, Despite the fact that not one single player has come out to say they have ‘enjoyed’ playing Adnar in particular, Anet appears to be stubbornly refusing to change the game to make it fairer and enjoyable for players.
Seriously, what is the point of creating content that NO ONE is enjoying?
Many players will be put off ever playing this great game ever again because of very poor execution.
All leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.
In every other complaint thread about difficult content, there is generally a good few players who defend or like the challenge – Not once have I seen a posting on this topic where a player has said that they enjoyed challenging the more difficult masters at this game, whether they finally managed to beat him or not.
Why on earth would the Devs, when they are aware that not one single person has enjoyed this particular encounter not change it? This whole thing is counter intuitive to good design. Who cares if everyone manages to beat all of the grand masters? what you want to achieve is – at the end of it players enjoy the game, go out and buy a kit and start playing it with other players.

The game is great and I disagree, against a human opponent who is playing by the same rules as you are, it does require skill and strategy.
Sadly, most people will be put off ever playing again, because their introduction to the game (which they need to complete to acquire the sig moves to be competitive against other players) is totally marred by having to play increasingly difficult NPC’s who are seemingly able to use any moves they want as often as they want.
Harder and Harder is fine where completion relies on my willingness to persevere and learn and I don’t have to rely on pure luck or finding a group of other players.
Difficult solo jump puzzles – Good
Difficult group dungeons where the majority of the population is scared off and finding a group is virtually impossible – Very Bad
I know he’s relatively easy to beat but the Charr doesn’t play by the rules either – his drink water skill (not the sig move) re-charges after 1 turn.
Apparently(according to German patch notes – they seemed to be out faster this time) the Norn got nerfed… and they removed the food buff exploit. Can someone try again without food and tell how he is now? I might try again without food later or in the next days.
Just played him again and I am seeing no difference whatsoever, his sig move is still up 95% of the time.
That’s what this thread is for… it’s a discussion thread. If the devs can give us answers as the “whats” and “hows”, I’d be pleased to see them. If you have ideas about this or suggestions, or criticisms write them out.
The information we have so far makes it fairly clear that this is going to work in a similar manner to HOM.
“These rewards will be retroactively awarded for any tiers of account achievement rewards you’ve already earned on your account.”
Key words there are ‘tiers of account achievement’ So for example at 100 points you’ll get reward 1, at 250 points reward 2 etc
when the system goes live you will be able to claim all the rewards up to your current total.
That’s my reading of it anyway.
The way achievement points are designed isn’t about which achievements are more important, it’s about how many of those achievements a person does. Why? Because the importance and value of an achievement is subjective to each and every player, a player like me doesn’t give 2 kittens about legendary items but i do value my progress in WvW.
A very valid point but in a sense it only strengthens my argument. Given that WvW achievement point rewards are perhaps the ones which are most out of synch with the others in terms of the amount of time and effort they take to earn – why shouldn’t you as a player who enjoys WvW be given a reward which equates to the time and effort you spent playing? WvW rewards which may make your game more enjoyable were specifically mentioned for the system and given the difficulty of amassing achievement points in WvW, the imbalance in the system is not rewarding your efforts.
They have never said achievement points will become currency.
The release notes strongly suggest that achievement point rewards will be tiered similar to HOM in GW1 and while this may not be a currency in the truest sense of the word it is yet another form of ‘currency’ for obtaining items in-game.
I have no strong feelings on the debate regarding dailies as Anet clearly wants players to be playing the game regularly, but I feel inclined to agree with brunobyof.3541 that if additional rewards are now being offered for achievements, laurels would be a more appropriate reward for the dailies at least.
Irrespective of any of the above, I have yet to see any solid argument against my original point that there is a gross imbalance in the amounts of points rewarded when comparisons are made against the time/effort or skill each existing achievement currently takes.
I think the problem here is that people are putting too much stock in what the achievement points will net us. I know with the HoM we got some really cool stuff, and that is what I hope this will be, but no one is going to be thrown Legendary type items. I wouldn’t get your hopes too high. It will more than likely be really cool and something to work toward, but not earth shattering.
I take your point, but your missing mine – it’s the comparative amounts awarded for different activities that I see as the problem. When you compare all of the achievement points available in the game, the number of points awarded for each achievement do not reflect the time/effort or skill each takes when compared to others.
Living world activities also seems to reward very high amounts of achievement points compared to permanent content, so the problem of people complaining that they are unable to get every available achievement is also likely to get worse unless it is balanced before this goes live.
That was only one example of the top of my head, there are many more but perhaps another obvious one is: to earn 5 points you can either equip a legendary weapon or revive 10 people.
With the introduction of rewards for achievements, I am wondering if there will be any attempt to balance the amount of achievement points that activities reward.
Many of the rewards are very unbalanced when measured against each other for the amount of time or skill they take to complete – WvW rewards in particular seem particularly time consuming when compared to PvE rewards:
For example to earn 6 achievement points you can either defend Stonemist castle 1,000 times or buy a set of tier 1 armour.
There are lots of other examples and perhaps prior to introduction, the team should take this opportunity to rebalance things.
There is already an ingame lfg tool coming in very soon. It’s been datamined (yes, a UI tool has been datamined).
Your complaining has been noted before it was even posted.
It’s not needed soon, it was needed a long time before this dungeon was launched.
I find it quite a sad indictment for a game of this quality that players feel it is necessary to use these forums to look for groups to play specific parts of this content.
Fri/Sat pm prime time for European servers and after checking into LA regularly for the last couple of days the dungeon entrance remains stubbornly devoid of players who want to try it.
With no in-game tool (ahem) I take a look on GW2LFG – 185 posts – 2 looking for the new dungeon – 1 No first timers and 1 player looking for a group. Guild members are also not interested.
Every other living story activity and event has been swarming with players during the first weekend but this is so difficult (I’m sure many noticed that even the Devs didn’t finish it before aborting the webcast) and so exclusive that even players who want to try it again are finding it virtually impossible to find a group.
That combined with the issues of people wanting to complete specific achievements and the fact that it is only available for a limited time – all of which have been discussed in other threads, make me think that a serious rethink is needed for this dungeon.
Oh and carts don’t work well before horses – Ingame LFG Tool please
It’s also empty – hard might be good but if a very small percentage of the player base is going to be put off because they feel they won’t be able to complete it, it is a waste of time and resources and turns more people off than on.
Just visited at least 20 holo projectors for the second day in both Caledon and Metrica and not a single pirate – All either contain the normal Dragon Bash foes or have gone inactive and no interaction is possible.
Gunners Hold server
I had a set of wings drop from a bandit in Queensdale so my guess would be that there is a small chance they can drop from normal coffers
Let me start by stating that I believe the living story content is a breath of fresh air in an mmo and well done to Anet for that….Moving on
Keg Brawl
So much more could be done with this content to make it engaging to players.
If this had been put into the game as part of the living story rolling content, I am pretty confident that a huge number of players would be screaming for it to either stay or return – yet very few people play it – WHY?
For a TEAM game – why is it not possible to enter with a group of players of your own choosing?
Would you consider playing if you could form a permanent registered guild squad of say ten players, six of whom may play any particular match and these would be entered into a league or cup type format?
Moa Racing
I like many was quite disappointed that this was a passive event. Once again I feel the possibilities for introducing engaging have been missed. Even if the format was not changed to allow players to race (beetle racing in GW1) did no one consider introducing a whole mini sub game of finding and training your own moa and allowing them to race against other players moa’s?
A myriad of items and tasks could have been introduced to encourage players to scour the world for items and people to feed, train and develop their racing moa’s – Think legendary Moa!
Please Anet -when Polymock is eventually implemented, make sure it is not another play for a week and forget about it activity.
Ideas and thoughts on other missed opportunities within the game.
There have been dozens of threads on this topic and not a single acknowledgement from the Dev team that I have seen that they are aware that an issue exists. let alone that a fix is likely.
Hopefully anet will consider adding this before the event is over
Hopefully Anet will sort this before the weekend!
So, same old problem that used to occur in GW1 – but now putting them back into the arena just makes them an easy kill for the opposition and unbalances the game even further as the opposition is able to score off of them.
Can we have a report or kick feature please or better still, any player who remains idle in the base is kicked from the game.
If you can’t be bothered to actually put even a minimal effort into doing an achievement – sod off and stop ruining other peoples opportunity to have a fair game.
That particular merchant has been there since the introduction of Southsun, so the item you mention isn’t specifically tied to a one time event.
Are you suggesting that because you chose to try and solo a veteran Karka you should be guaranteed a rare drop? or that because this one karka didn’t give you any loot the whole of the living story content is pathetic?
Eh? You don’t need stabilty or blocks. Get some stun breakers which all classes have if you want to recover from kd fast. He also doesn’t do alot of damage. You just need to disarm the traps and lead him to it.
You don’t even need stun breakers, his damage is pitiful – All you need to do is avoid the bombs and just keep luring him over them.
Did you do your PvP monthly previously? You get laurels from the one or the other, but not both.
Thanks – I did indeed. I wasn’t paying attention to the PvP monthly so I’ll assume I must have received them.
I don’t remember reading about this anywhere – Is it a bug or don’t monthlies award Laurels anymore?
Targeting in general is in need of some serious attention.
Could an auto grouping feature not be added to dungeons similar to what exists in SPvP?
I’m sure I’m not the only person that just hates standing around trying to get a group together and this is the main reason I rarely use this content.
When entering a dungeon, A initial option of path or story would pop up and once selected a second option of enter (for those already in a party) and Join Group (for those wishing to form a group) would need to be selected.
Once the latter is chosen, you enter the dungeon and auto join a party of other players who have selected that option.
I’m sure this would encourage a lot more people to try dungeons.
This was stuck on Gunners Hold a few days ago but I revisited last night and it was working fine.
It seems many do not like the Living Story and the idea of change being permanent in a game. Not me! Nobody I know watches the same movie in a theater 50 times in a row. The analogy is probably poor but you get my drift. If you miss something in-game, well… do the next release of the Living Story. Just don’t force me to play in a NEVER changing world.
I’m fine with open-world stuff being temporary.
But complete, interesting dungeons should stick around. People like to have content to do, and many players have gone through all of the “permanent” dungeons so many times there’s no reason to ever return. Why should a new dungeon—a complete, and very fun dungeon—only be around for two weeks? Is it so wrong to want long-term variety in the game, instead of being told, “Okay, this two weeks everybody better do this if you don’t want to miss it. Next two weeks everybody has to do this other thing if you don’t want to miss it.”
Because; to use your own words – in a months time it becomes ‘a permanent dungeon that many players have gone through so many times and there’s no reason to ever return’
Monthly is stuck as well – Rank points are not updating.
Played about 10 games now and since the patch, rank points are not moving so I am unable to complete this months PVP Reward.
Same here – trying to complete monthly and it’s not moving!
Fixed: Targeting.
Selecting Closest target will now correctly target the closest aggressive enemy instead of a random creature in the vicinity.
This is just an awful game mechanic. Most annoying are bosses that refuse to move 1cm outside their defined area. Having a situation where a player can spend quite some time in an engaging fight, whittling away health only to find that suddenly the boss decides he’s had enough and slowly starts walking back to his spawn point invulnerable and regenerating health is beyond frustrating.
Did this event yesterday to get to the vista. Won a Flying Cow Token. We were never able to trigger the betting again after doing the event multiple times. So I would say it is still operational but also not…… Anyone know if the token is good for anything else besides selling?
The event will only trigger if the preceding event is completed with X cows alive.
X Cows will the be fired which you can wager upon before the Canon can be used to get to the tower
Fun little game – I played once and won but 50s is a little high in a starter zone – 5-10s would be a more reasonable amount.
I don’t see any crafting requirement in the PvP monthly
Well Done! 4 PvE centric tasks and not a Dungeon or Fractal in sight.
Hopefully it will remain this way in the future.
No – What is the point of raising the level cap? At whatever level you are, the challenge comes from fighting creatures of a similar or higher level.
Newer creatures introduced at the higher level cap will have more HP and do more damage. Just because your level is 150, you are no more powerful than before, you’re just fighting different things.
Roll on the day when some brave MMO developer gets rid of levels altogether.
If it’s speed your after choose any class and level up artificer and Jeweler.
