This thread is obviously the result of transmog potion sniffing or snorting too much crystaline dust, or both.
If Oxford renamed bake stones they would have to rename stone baked bread, and that’s not going to happen..
But I do think syringes should be called something else because there is no way to distinguish between one or another depending on how they are used. Example they should call them medical plungers unless they were used to inject illicet drugs, in which case they should be called joy plungers.
edit: I understand I might get infracted for this…

Human female Ele – Iyma Mann.
Maybe it’s to show they care less about peoples money and more about the type of people they want playing their game.
I’ll have you know I singlehandedly, with a golem once broke down the outer gate of one of the borderland keeps. Nither side cared….
Note to Gandara.
Don’t be disheartened there are alot of good players on your server, and when they are on it’s a nice experience to get into WvW. Sadly you are out numbered by elements that make play frustrating and leave you wondering why you bother.
PS guilds have you at a slight disadvantage because most of you aren’t the “do enything to win” crowed. If you post 1 or 2 look outs (that you trust) well away from the action you should see their guilds balling up somewhere to “zerg” in. I would suggest you limit yourselves to either hitting objectives very quickly or not at all, because crosses are shown and intel is sent.
Beyond mittigating their “zerg”/“guild” play style, that seems to revel in roaming, you could well have people who are a little too competitive in their ideas of competition representing Gandara in name only. In short watch your back, and this week if you decide to play, take as few risks as possible and concentrate on communication and split defence.
I’ve moved server this week to see if I enjoy, and to see what the difference is on a higher ranked server (I’ve wondered since head start if Gand was the right place for me.).
Good luck to Gandara and A Rock, you’ll probably need it.
I suggest that forum “moderators” have their title changed to “censors”.
What’s blue and floats?
A dead Asura.
I’ve sent in a brief bug report through the game before regarding this issue, but thought I’d post details of it here so it can be seen/known.
Using the warriors leaping 1-handed sword attack (skill 2) over uneven ground in WvW as an enemy dies can leave your Bag of Loot stuck in the air, with no way to collect it. This happens when you use the skill from an elevated position and fall futher than you would normally.
While I like how the skill works, I’ve lost a few bags because of this.
If I’m not running with some magic find gear, for your benifit, should I expect you to give me your loot as recompense?
I run full exotic gear with 3 pieces of ascended. I have between 70-80% magic find through runes and 1 to 2 pieces of jewlery. I have a luck sigil on my Greatsword that I use almost exclusivly in the open world. And I rarely, if ever, feel like the weakest player in a group, in the open world or in WvW.
I would love to have another few points in stats here and there, and a gimmick or 2, but this was the most efficiant way of gaining a stat for MY character that is supposed to help towards my goals in this game, while maintaing a useful, durable role.
But, if any of you have trouble walking accross Orr, either killing mobs or just running to where you want to be, you really shoulden’t be worrying about me. If you think Lupi is OP, it’s ok, people like me can keep him engaged while everyone else runs back. Granted some people take a parasitic stance, like others don’t understand compromise. But trying to guilt players into giving up 1 stat for another so you can do as you please, seems more selfish than someone like me. But spiteful, spoiled and indignante players might not see it that way.
I would be happy if the MF stat disappeared, but as GW1 players will tell you, the drop rates stunk there, and I as one of those people, think it’s improved in GW2, but nowhere near enough.
Yeah. They should add Spvp gear/WvW specific gear to WvW when they balance the game for 1v1 and zerg warfare. I mean, if you hardcore Spvpers can’t do pve, why should Anets game design and our enjoyment stand in the way of you not actualy playing the game you bought…
I’m honestly confused as to why some of you play multipalyer games. You don’t respect the game or the other people who play it.
You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to realise that every week there are new faces, and given the Petri dish and how internet “culture” has “evolved”, it stands to reason that a few of you maleficents would try to subvert the otherwise wholesome past time of trying to stick an axe in a guys head.
I would normally try to appeal to peoples better nature at this point, but that never goes down too well with the group mentioned above.
The problem with on-line team games is that some of you are still not mature enough for the concept. Proof of that can be found in this thread.
But to everyone else, Merry Xmas and happy zerging.
A few days ago I went to the Cursed Shore to gather nodes and kill stuff. I used a peach tart on-top of the magic find gear I have, and in the time the buff showed I recived 1 yellow drop. Shortly after, 4 yellow items seemed to drop 1 after the other. Does this count as strange?
But to put it in context I don’t think I’d seen a rare in a few days before that.
It seems that I go through really dry periods with the odd rare crafting mat if I’m lucky, to getting an exotic drop (very very rare), or a couple of rares in a short space of time.
Nothing conclusive or really all that helpfull. But I, like a few people here, sometimes wonder if our magic find is really doing anything for us, or even if it is somehow working against itself lowering the quality/frequency of dropped items. Though without knowing how you want your games loot to function, who are we to tell you what is strange, when all we can do is relay our point of view, given the lack of information or knowledge on how the loot system is supposed to work.
I hate to say it because I still quite enjoy the game. But in my opinion the thing that is lacking from some of the guild wars world and its holidays is a large measure of coolness.
The world looks nice, the game play works, but there isn’t a whole lot in the game that makes me go wow or laugh to myself. I’m not saying these moments don’t exist, but they don’t define the experience. Halloween had some coolish things in, the clock tower, The Mad King and his dungeon, the Pve killing arena and the pvp instances were all quite fun and fairly cool. The karka event was marred by connection issues and an underwhelming addition to the world (though pritty in its own right), but it wasn’t a bad idea. But the Wintersday event so far seems a little uninspired outside the decorations in LA. Though I did enjoy the Toypocalyps, probably due to the fact I got it done on the second go (Yaks and all..), and don’t intend on doing it again unless the mood takes me.
TlDr. The event’s nice, but it’s not cool enough.
Reading through this thread I had a bit of a brain fart, and thought I’d share.
Given the type of new dungeons we’ve been seeing lately it could be an idea if the Consortium expanded their enterprise to include instances where individual players (or groups) can fight selected mobs indefinitely for their ultra rare rewards.
So for example – I entre an area, interact with some Asuran tech, choose what type of mob I’d like to face, eg Air Elementals, for a chance at charged cores and lodestones.
We then force the development team (at gun point if necessarie) to play this instance until they have 100 lodestones or 200 cores each, and then ask them what they think of their “DR”/loot table…
“After a tense 6 month stand off with hostage takers police finaly rescued the beloved Arenanet team. When asked for a comment, a high level programer just had this to say…”
“Legendaries aren’t legendary enough…”
“…Back to you at the studio..”
I’m compleatly serious about the first line of this post.
I think “Bag of Loot” should be re-named to “Bag o’ Loot”. It’s more piraty and fun…
While reading through some peoples thoughts on ascended gear it occurred to me that where Guild Wars 1 had a simple static world and a complex skill system, Guild Wars 2 has a complex world but a static skills system.
So instead of allowing people to develop their character with new skill choices, it’s replaced by gear and consumables that allow character development.
I can see this way being less harsh when it comes to eliteism, since you aren’t criticising someone elses decisions on how to play, but more on the amount of time they have played and how motivated they are to achieve the best for their virtual avatar.
Unfortunatly I can see the same reasons for why people didn’t like being judged, excluding them from even trying to participate. And having a social gap that is impossible to cross, one way, in both instances. Leaving players feeling like a 5th wheel.
As an example, I was given a sword when I stared on my warrior, not a pick-axe. If I was expected to go farm nodes for cash or crafting so I could get a sword, I would have been less than impressed, and a joke at dynamic events.
While rewards are nice, somethings you do need in order to play.
So with all that being said, I expect to find all the ascended gear that is available, in my mail box before this change effects or affects me in a negative way. As should everyone who didn’t mind the fact that the game we were playing was the way it was.
People who want gear grind don’t have to receive this mail or can delete it upon arrival.
If this doesn’t happen, I fully understand..
Yeah it’s odd how folks are being vocal and complaining about a change that was said to be introduced due to people being vocal and complaining…
I guess they are making it easier for folks to get a legendary so when they increase they stats they won’t offend 99% of their player base.
So glad I decided to get some sleep… After the first 2 lag filled events I figured I woulden’t miss much. Oh well..
It would be nice if Anet could make a few more videos talking about their game and its direction / new content.
I think it would be interesting to see.
I’m hoping that “ascended” armour is simply an upgrade on what we have already and fits with the continuation of the story.
If it’s just flat out new gear I can say it seems like a turn off. Especially if it requires the exotic gear most of us already have, to attain it. And I don’t see how adding numbers rather than cosmetics is something more to work toward. You’ll be just as unsatisfied when you get the new gear as you are now if the game isn’t to your liking. And if new gear is available, it will undermine the game we have played too, to this point.
It would have been nicer to get more info from Anet in this topic beyond merged, because I’m not a big fan of speculation. And since they have released (vague) information to a German reviewer, I’m guessing they wanted people who were interested in their game to know something…
Everyone sees the world his own way.
Seems like you and your server are reliant on that statement. It would be nice if Anet could shed some light on what’s being discussed here.
Are there many NA players on the FR servers in the EU?
Do players from other severs join opposing servers and take up room and leak information?
Does it seem from the data they have that 2 servers avoid confrontation while concentraiting on another?
Would be nice to know… Because given the childish and flippent responses I woulden’t put it past them to straght up lie. But to be honest I coulden’t care less, stay in teir 4 if you can, because I’m sick to death of playing the same boring game against Fort Ranik.
If you can muster a 3am Zerg do better…[/quote]
It was surprising to see the scores last week. Though when I was playing it seemed like the same ol’ same ol’ as far as how we performed, but obviously better early morning and day coverage than usual (Or the French servers decided to let you win, just so my dislike for the unbalanced situation, in the middle of the EU leaderboard, could blossm some more).
I think we have only ever beaten Fort Ranik the first time or two we played. Since then they have won by a large margin, but some how we saw them every other week. Untill now…
Maybe servers should be ranked by the amount of players at given times rather than a scoreing system like Glecko. It would make more sense and you’d have pritty much the same situation as now, only different..
In a week new content will be around, and hopefuly Fort Ranik will be getting their posteriors handed to them again. So I can be sickend and ammused by seeming them again the week after.
Honestly, I’m sick of zerg warfare and insurmountable leads (and trolls, but that’s another story). And at this point I’m happy to leave the French to pvdoor all week and encourage others on Gandara to do the same.
I blame “normal” people and their desire to ridicule things they deem “not normal”..
I enjoy things for my own reasons and expect others are the same. I don’t really do inane banter, never have. But when it’s fairly amusing I have no problem with it..
But when the map chat consits of 2 or 3 guys talking about wow or any other equally inane subject or, being a passive blamist pecimist, or just someone that is being “funny”/trolling, it reinforces why I tend not to be as relaxed and gregarious as I would perhaps like to be.
And when some people are good at something, it can make some people feel insecure and make them slightly hostile. You just have to look at the state of FPS online gameing to relise that…
If we all were a bit more respectful to each other, acted maturly and appriciated that we’re in a privlidged postion to be playing these games in the first place, and were thankful for it, it would perhaps be a different story entierly.
So if I could counterfit money and sell it for less than what it reprisents that would be ok by some of you?
Bear in mind that alot of people will recognise this as being “wrong”, so not many would use my “service”. And it will inflate the cost of things while making your money worth less. But it’s ok because nobody else is selling cheap money…
As people have pointed out just because something is illegal doesn’t mean people don’t want it, or want to do it. And genaraly speaking if no one is hurt and no property damaged, I have a hard time seeing why it’s not allowed. But Gold sellers damage someone elses property that we have a licence to use. They even commit fraud when logging in as you if they hacked your account, which is also an invasion of privacy… People who buy their gold hurt the game in a very obvious way and support those who sell it and their methods. I’d rather nither party existed because it’s not part of the game I’m playing, but still effects the enviroment that we frequent.
On a tangent to what’s been said here..
Bikes are lighter, smaller and better made for what they are than cars, yet there is no consideration taken to these differences, either by legal means or in some cases intellectual..
People who don’t ride bikes sometimes have very strong feelings about those who do..
I don’t have strong feelings about the gold sellers now that I don’t recive spam from them, and could care less about peoples justifications for buying it. It’s not a comodity for them to sell, and I doubt they pay tax on it…
A solution would be to regulate the farmers, give them a permit and an agreement by which to abide so they could regulate it themselves and prosecute people who didn’t abide by their contract.
Or you idiots could just stop buying it and play the game you bought like the rest of us…
Yeah I noticed people being size’ist a couple of times while playing my Norn. Didn’t really bother me, but you have to wonder about such people…
You get a piece of soulbound gear for each char that completes it. And people like myself have played Norn throughout the game and have finished other jump puzzles with them.
I’ve also completed it using a shortish human. There were Norn at the start but I didn’t see anyone else at the top, so I’m going to be rude and say it’s a L2P issue :p
To kind of extend the idea that Enenion put forward, I was thinking maybe a relitve score for taking and holding keeps would perhaps keep people interested in playing and turning the tables. I’m no maths wiz, but should imagin the good folks at Anet (or some of you forum goers) would be able to come up with a scoring system based on your score and the difference of points between the 3 teams, and perhapse give lower scoring worlds a bonus to the things they can take. For instance giving the 3rd placed team a bonus based on score difference for “x” amount of scoring time, then reduce it based on continued scoring to be competitive.
It would be nice if that – someone transfering within the first 3-4 days of a new WvW match up be barred from playing for those initial 3-4 days, especially if they have transfered off of a server to another that are now matched against each other.
It’s bad enough feeling like you’re being tagged teamed, let alone haveing “leachers” and “spies”. I could care less about the cost either way.
Thank you ever so much for fixing the reward system for dungeons. 3 paths 180 tokens, I’m a happy bunny.
wait till the patch…
I will. I thought I would give them some more feed back and ask if it was personal…
You would have thought I would have learned my lesson and not bothered for the token reward, but it still rubs me up the wrong way slightly.
First run in a few days through AC. Did the first path. recived 15 tokens. After 3 complete runs since the last patch I have received the total of 36 tokens of what really should have been 180, according to your patch notes.
So if I was to continue to try and get that lovely greatsword, or any other reward for that matter, I would have to run the dungeon anywhere from four to ten times more than those receiving the stated amount.
Why you no like me Anet?
And since I can’t edit my last post I would also like to add that. If you can’t form a constructive thought to do with a discussion, please refrain from attacking the posters motivations because your ego can’t handle actually thinking.
And if you would like to outline why my sugestion isn’t a good/valid one, subjectivly or objectively, please feel free to amend or post again.
So I’m promptly insulted and some asinine twit makes an assumption or two.
I think you should add the word noob to your word filter, purely because it is used soley as an expletive.
So the less you play the more you get, is what we can take away from the info so far. Haven’t got an exotic drop from a mob or world chest. Though I did get one from the mystic forge for 4 rare bows (2 or 3 of which were bought from the TP).
Edit: Ninja’d
Maybe Governments should come up with an anti profit code so companies like anet can only sell their product at full price for half an hour, after that they get hit with diminishing reterns.
^
I have the grand total of 71 ac tokens, and about 26 Arah tokens. I really must have abused their system…
I’m sure like quite a few people, played the last beta weekend. In going through the content they had I was interested by what more there would be, and was content with how drops seemed to be working.
Haveing played through the story, exploring, crafting, WvW and sPvP on one character I don’t really feel that motivated to do it again, and have a hard time deciding what to do.
And I think I know why, for me at least. It’s the lack of rewarding experiences.
The story, while it starts off well, gets obviously generic. Though the priory’s quests/story was fun, they killed off a lovable character that you barely got to know. And replaced it with a story that was not interesting to play through, with charaters I had no empathy for (mainly due to lack of personality and emotion). Though I could live with this alone, the lack of any item rewards added to the feeling of “why bother”.
I have seen they’ve added in their last update that the end loot bags had been fixed (a really big turn off, at the time) but no mention of retroactivly giving this once in a charaters life reward, to the players that obviously were kittened.
I want to play in order to experience what the game has to offer, but alot of that seems hidden behind the idea that items we could be considered to need/want are not necessary to my enjoyment. And if I wanted to, I could, grind out another 400-1200 levels in crafting with the limited gold I have, to aquire the items I probably coulden’t make due to the few drops giving materials that would be needed. Or buy them off the trade post for the entirity of my in game wealth for just a couple of pieces.
I realise the game should be enjoyed for what it is, but when playing with the game is what you like to do, it doesn’t give you many options for that. It’s a little sad.
In this game, rare means rare. As a result there is more value attached to them as an individual, than there is on the trade post. Which could be ok, but why make us craft for our rares and exotics when adventuring is what you like to do.
Tl:dr. Lack of synergy and reward is a turn off.

Ascalon Catacombs, path one. Recived 6 tokens for my first complete run of the day. Had tried a few times previously, but didn’t get past the first assignment.
It took a while.
But thank you for the increase (in principle) of tokens and the level of the first dungeons rewards.
Just to add to this.
Compleated the second path in AC first run through, received 15 tokens. Others received 60 during this run also. So I’m at 21 of what should have been 120 tokens. But after the first result I wasn’t optimistic.

Although I relise this is probably a waste of time as far as some of the player base goes, I’m going to share anyway.
Haveing been left high and dry before, today was a little diffrent. Relising the back and forth between the two lake towers, I ventured to go get some supplies from the most south eastern supply point, being that we had Ashurion hills, and the tower and supply north of that. Obviously heading in that direction but feeling no sense of urgency due to a pritty clear picture from the map, I figured I’d gather and head through the gap between the keep and the adjacent rock face. On seeing a handful of minitors I thought, hey, they some times drop blood. And procided to show those pesky mobs a good hiding.
This is where it gets a bit odd from my perspective. I notice 4 or 5 guildies on the cliff next to the keep, and asked if any of them were planning to jump off. With this a detirmined looking guardian rounded the courner. I guess this guild relised they were too weak to jump down and dispatch this fellow, or as I see it, more likely to be in contact with said guardian.
Given the fact it is easy to use coms’ out side of the game, it seems really quite possible. And given their hostile reaction when implying they might be less than 100% legit considering the secenario, instead of asking why I might think such a thing, was promptly berated. I suspect they know full well what they did, and are probably still doing. Otherwise there would be no call for them to act like “kittens”.
I got away clean, but again Anets game gets tarnished because of people who don’t want to play the game, and have no respect for their fellow players.
Exploting the game for an unfair advantage is wrong apparently. I haven’t named the guild here, but did report a couple of them for verbal abuse. If you want to be as good as anyone else, act like it. Thinking you’re above it and acting like a “kitten” shows you to be the true “kittens” you are.
I suspect it might be beyond Anets capablities to monitor these type of activities directly, but the actions and consequenses are really quite apparent.
I’m old enough to feel disapointed in my self when I go down. Having people try to orchistrait the event is just sad. I would ask them to grow up, but there seems little point.
Am I mad? I’m more angry their parents didn’t bother teaching them any manners, or how to play nice/well with others.
A revolting expirence.
Yes, you must follow my orders to the letter or the Guildwars Goons will come to your house and smash your computer.
Sigh.
Constructive as ever. My fault.

It is helpful to different things, in game and out, to get around the penalties. Log out for a few minutes every hour or so, get a drink or a snack, see what’s on tv, chat with a friend, check your email…
So going afk and doing these things is wrong. I must log out first. I will try to remember that…
I didn’t like it when Guildwars told me to take a break. It’s like saying –
“Are you are aware you have been enjoying yourself too much? That’s not healthy…”?
Just wait till you want to craft yourself an exotic, that rely on ectos from rare gear and materials that don’t tend to drop. Or contemplate one of the mystic forge recipies…
I might say that we could just buy gems, sell for gold, and not mind that we are effectivly having to pay real world money for virtual crafting materials. But that seems kind of lame to me..
But on the other side of it, maybe trying to craft your way through on your first character was not the idea invisioned by Anet. But who knows.

YAHRG!
Boat v boat pvp combat could be a hoot. Maybe even rival the popularity of the Keg Brawl!
(I honestly can’t tell if I’m being serious or not…)
I don’t think map chat should be used for what would otherwise be private conversations, regardless of content.
It’s just as annoying to have trolls engaging their keyboards, rather than their brains. As it must be for you to suffer what would be considered unnecessary “vulgarity”.
Maybe an off topic chat function that is off by default would help keep them “out of sight and out of mind”. It’s just plain anti-social.

This would be a loverly feature. Just did a couple of explorable runs in AC after loitering around Arah and getting a hand full of tokens, and was slightly dismayed when I checked that it was only level 60 gear.
Out of all the vendors that one in my opinion has the nicest looking greatsword.
So please Anet, could you make us (and add) the option to obtain level 80 gear from these vendors. Pritty please
(love the game. Though my drops are never as good as they could be
I got to the point where I phased the monotoned Twig out, and hoped my Norn warrior felt the same. Sadly at no point did my burrly avatar lean across the cut scene window and deck the overgrown shrub, and take matters into his own hands…
